What the hell kind of post office is this? I drove by because it was on my way home to drop a letter in the outgoing box. There are absolutely no mail drop boxes at this location except in the lobby which is of course locked! How lame is that? read more

The people that work here are friendly but there are no where near enough of them. I've only ever seen one or two people working at the window even though there are five stations. They have an express line for parcel pickup/drop-off, but there is never anyone working that area, so it's totally pointless. I'm not sure why they have the sign posted up for it if it's never functional. read more

I came in at 8:30am. I needed to order my passport, they only take the first 25 people so be early if you ignore my post. This place sucks they have 5 windows and o lay use 2. There is high turnout of customers they should have more than 1 person working on passports. This is ridiculous. Management needs to do its job and prioritize. NO STARS. Worst post office. This place is contributing a lot to the demise of the post office. The three women working there had an attitude towards anyone they rolled their eyes at all the customers that asked questions, especially the main bitch that decided to have an argument with me when I asked her why there wasn't a sign about when they were taking passport applications. That was the second time I had to go there in one day and both times she had an attitude. I'm never going back to that run down bitch cage they call a post office. read more

This is the worst Post Office I have ever dealt with. They have managed to loose 3 of my packages in 4 months. Every time I wished to speak to a manager they would tell me that they were out of the building and they couldn't provide me with an expected time in which they would return. I have called USPS to file a claim on these lost items and of course they tell you that they will have someone from that post office call you and they never do. I had to call USPS to open the claim again to get someone to call me which they did at that point but they still didn't find my lost packages. The front counter workers never look happy and do NOT provide good customer service (except the Caucasian older man). When you ask them a question they look at you like you are dumb and practically roll their eyes at you, if they even do eye contact with you. I think that if you are not happy with your job you shouldn't be there no more. MOVE ON!!!! read more

I must say this was the worst post office that I have ever been to. The customer service representatives (cashiers) are extremely rude and dishonest. After looking at the USPS website for information about their PO Box services, I noticed this location was a few miles away but the its box service was the cheapest available. The website mentioned that they had PO boxes available in all sizes and listed the associated costs. It also noted what documentation would be needed to open the box. I went to the location and when I inquired the lady representative immediately stated "none are available" and with an attitude "do you live around here?" While the location is in an almost exclusive hispanic area which I am not there was no reason to assume that I should not or could not patronize that facility or live in the area. I told her the website said otherwise and informed her that USPS website didn't mention a maximum radius to reside from where a box is opened. She refused to take the documentation that I provided and told me that it would be months before I would be able to open a box and that I would need to contact the post office closest too me for them to verify my address. "The mail carrier would have to verify that they've delivered mail to me before" I've had a PO Box before so I knew she was full of it.... I left and realized I had a few more items from the list of documents that one could provide so I went back and tried to speak to a male representative. He refused to speak to me. He mentioned that he knew that I was just there, didn't live close to the area (3 miles isn't close i guess) and would not speak to me. He then said that no small boxes are available. In my original conversation the size of a box was never discussed. I tried to ask questions and instead he waved for other customers to come to his register and was completely dismissive. He told me to step away from his area. I didnt understand what was going on as the conversation was calm and I was trying to understand his logic ..... At all times I was polite but they were disrespectful, dismissive, presumptuous and worst of all dishonest... I wonder if I were Hispanic would I have been treated so poorly. I would NEVER recommend this location. It should be close but at the very least the staff needs sensitive and discrimination training! Later in the day I got back online, found another reasonably priced USPS for PO Boxes took the same exact documentation and opened a PO Box without problem. Online hours state passports are issued 8:30a.m.- 1:30 p.m. Left work early to make it to Post Office at 12:30. I walk in at 12:40. I see a door in the far left that tells you what office you can go to for your passport ( city of Long Beach). I go the service desk with a sign for passport questions. Man comes up to the desk, I tell him I'm here for a passport. He says "We stop passport service at 12:30" I tell him it states online that passport hours are from 8:30-1:30. His response "I'm tired of arguing with people about that those hours are wrong. We get people from other cities trying to come here and we can't keep up. You need to come back tomorrow morning from 8:30-12:30. If you would've been here at 12:30 I would have helped you." He was rude, unhelpful and condescending. Soooooo if you need passport service don't look for signs with hours posted stand in line and ask what the hours will be on the day you need to go. Or do what I did and go to the USPS by LAX service is amazing!!! Also I live two blocks away from the South Gate post office and will go out of my way from now on to not use them. read more

I just want to thank Maria for helping me find my misplaced package from England. It was addressed wrong and the tracking number showed it had been sent to South Gate. I called there and I explained my situation and she said she would call me back. About 45 minutes later she called and said she had found my package and would hold onto it until I got there. When reviewing any government facility the reviewer must compare relative to other government facilities, not some commercial retail store experience. With that being said..... It compares to just about any other post office I've been to. I give a plus for not having the Plexiglas barrier between me and the clerk. Seriously, this is South Gate, not downtown Syria. It' a not so an bad area. Secondly the workers have their bad days as well as their good. Just like your co workers. I would strongly suggest that someone take a steam cleaner and go over the entire place. It is coated in a thick layer of dust that makes it look dingy. The exterior as well as the interior. The inside especially because of the textured wall captures years of dust. Clean it off already! . I went to this location to get a passport. The clerk was totally helpful and accommodating. I did have to wait about 45 minutes to get processed but hey, there were a lot people in front of me (about 5). Parking immediately in front of the place can get full so just park in the lot next door by the self car wash place. Also, minus one star for removing the drive up mail box that used to be at the end of the parking lot driveway. Now we HAVE to park and get off to drop off mail. Adds to the congestion. read more
