I live in the neighborhood so I do come here often enough. There's a paying parking lot right next to the post office, but if it's a busy day in season it may be hard to find a spot. If you go early enough you usually won't have a huge wait. However there's usually only one person sometimes two to help. I've had one or two ladies that were helpful but there's one person no matter the time of day, no matter how nice and the biggest smile you can put on, she's just rude. And because you need her for your mailing needs you just have to put up with it. I'm the kind of person who likes the challenge of making someone smile even if they've been having a tough day. Just thinking of having to step into a post office gives me the heebie jeebies. Last week I visited this office to mail some packages and felt like it was my lucky day. I was mailing two different packages and was so glad that they were stocked with all the sizes of flat rate priority boxes. Unlike previous experiences, where I've had to wait in line to be told that I'd have get back in line once my package was ready or, worst, that they're out of stock. And the best part? No line! I think only one other person came through while I was prepping my boxes, and even then there were two employees working at checkout. It was a blessed day! read more

This review is of one particular employee named Norma. She is quiet possibly the rudest person I have ever come across. I have been to this branch plenty of times and witnessed her be rude, not helpful and even talk back to customers. Today she was particularly rude and unhelpful to a mother who came in with 4 heavy packages in one hand and holding on to a toddler with her other hand. All she had to do was help the mom change the tape on the packaging, instead she rudely told her she couldn't mail anything and turned her away. Another employee ended up helping the mother. Norma is hurting this branches reputation. I left there thinking something awful must have happened to her in her lifetime that she feels she has to be so nasty to others. This is the worst post office I have ever been to. I've lived in Surfside for more than 10 years and unfortunately have come here many times because of how close it is. I've never left a review for any post office but after my experience today I thought it would be very necessary. Time after time i've come into this post office and watched people be treated disrespectfully including myself a couple of times. I've seen the scream at customers for no reason. Today I went in all smiles in a good mood for God's sake it's 10:30 in the morning!!! Said hello to the clerk and off rip she started looking at me with crazy eyes as if I was doing the worst thing in the world. At the end of my service I asked if both packages were in the one receipt she gave me because I just didn't know and she tells me with the nastiest attitude that if I'd read the receipt I'd see that both are there. I did absolutely nothing to this lady and she was probably the most disrespectful person I've ever had to speak to in a post office better yet any service industry. I really do suggest that you go somewhere else for your packages for example, North Miami has a decent USPS. I honestly am worried that my packages will now be lost because of this horrible lady. read more

OMG - this place used to be one of the best post offices....now the service is the worst.....right on par with the 71st St branch. Slow, rude with one person on counter whilst the boss and other staff chit-chat in corner. I wish they'd outsource the post office to FEDEX or UPS. This Surfside Location is has the most unprofessional and distasteful manager I have ever dealt with, my first experience was a total nightmare.. I hadn't been to the post office in over 15 years - I mention to the young lady at the desk that I needed her help to send my mother's cellular device-( Iphone ) overseas to the Caribbeans - She suggested it was okay to send it through customs in a padded envelope; which she packed and sealed for me, the phone never made it to my mom in the Caribbeans ( which she went to visit her family after 30 years. ***no pics for her ***, ) The phone showed up in 6 days later at my house ( IN THE STATES ) which I paid $70.00 TO SHIPP overseas. I went back to the postal service where the young lady apologized and made it known to the supervisor and manager that she forgot they no longer ship lithium batteries through customs. We are all humans and make mistakes, staff then gets on the phone with the manager that says TOO BAD THAT WE TOLD YOU THE WRONG THING, YOU SHOULD HAVE READ THE KEY PAD BEFORE SIGNING basically and no refund.... I literally had to brake out in tears until Samsom a new supervisor went the extra mile for me to get that refund ( THANK YOU SAMSON ) You are the true definition of five star customer service; also the honest young lady.. This Manager JOSE MARTINEZ needs to be removed from this position immediately .. This is a very bad look for the City of Surfside and Bay/Bal Harbor residents. I will be writing to the corporate office as well. A gentleman named JP as well needs to be removed, he lied and said I came in on the weekday when I came in on a Saturday to do the transaction ( challenging my work schedule as if he knew me because I said I was not available on the weekdays and needed to resolve the issue at the moment. . He was right there when the young lady told me the wrong information and he did not tell her we do not send phones through customs, he needs to be held responsible as well. He tried to back the manager and say you should have read the pad when he forgot that he told me the day I sent the Iphone that his ex wife is from Trinidad and he knows all the island dishes, he quickly switched up when I returned for my refund as if he was not right there watching this young lady package the phone, he knew it was going to Trinidad and Tobago as well. read more

After paying $22.00 for a 13.5 ounces package, send to Germany, I had difficulties to get some little scotch from the USPS representative, to secure my envelope to open up. Why does USPS representative at the counter give so much aditude for a little piece of scotch ???? I do not understand....... Yolanda, Romana and another older Women behind the counter are so unfriendly. It's like, why as a customer I am asking for post service and even bother them at business hours. This woman are so moody and unprofessional in customer service, I try to avoid coming at the U.S post office on Surfside, 95th street near Harding Avenue. I realize also that they are nice to Spanish speaking customers but not to not Latin- American customers. Every time I leave this post office I was showered with ugly aditude and their frustration working at the post office. In my whole life and all over this world, I have never been so attacked by their service. The only normal and nice person behind the post office counter is this young man. I mailed a check from the Surfside P O on Tuesday March 19 to North Carolina writes to a bank against a credit card billing. This check turned up in Ft Lauderdale on Wednesday March 20, all washed and newly printed wanting to cash a late amount for someone named Stephanie (I don't know a Stephanie and certainly my check was not for her). How can this be. What is the routing of mailed to NC from Surfside PO? Can't get any reasonable help from Surfside PO. They tell me to contact the main post office which is almost impossible. Fraud was committed and they don't care only saying they are sorry. i feel there may be a thief associated with that PO. It needs a proper investigation and blocked from it happening. Extremely disappointed. Apparently checks are stolen regularly from post offices as noted by my bank. The bank knew exactly how to handle this. I was mailed a vitally important document via Priority Mail Express from out of state, but USPS lost track of it and it was long delayed. Out of desperation I stopped by this post office since I knew they would process it once it arrived in Florida. Patricia, one of the employees in the office, was unbelievably helpful. Without hesitation she went to the back to see if perhaps it had arrived and was misplaced. When she couldn't find it, she took down my name and number and said they would try to call me if they found it. A few hours later, I got a call from Patricia saying the package had just arrived in the building and I could come pick it up. They literally saved me weeks of stress and thousands of dollars. Went into mail a package and asked for a pen. Was told to bring it right back. I then return the pen and wait in line for 10 minutes. I step up to mail my package and ask to see the stamps. I didn't see anything I liked. She then says to me that I'm wasting her time. NICE customer service. If you don't like your job, go find another one if you can! From the moment we walked in, Glenda gave us a mean stare and told us to get out of the line like we had done something wrong and then a few moments later, rudely told us to get back in line with no explanation, just a bark. And the whole time while we were being helped by another employee, she was giving my wife a death stare. Service here is so bad I had to get a box with UPS. Several items that were shipped via postal and should have been forwarded have gone missing, the sender doesn't have them, I don't have them. I tried filing a complaint with USPS, but apparently the local manager is in charge of following up on these, good luck with that, never got a call or a followup and many letters and packages of mine have gone missing. At this point I don't know if it's just incompetence or if my items are actually being stolen. Either way I've solved the problem by getting a box with one of my local UPS stores. My advice, stay away from this post office if possible. read more
