Parking is not the most convenient here especially on a Saturday when there are activities and festivals happening in the park directly across the street. I came here last Saturday when there was a Hispanic Heritage festival and people parked in the few designated spots for the post office. I had to park a block away. I was returning a package that already had a shipping label and was ready to go. An older gentleman that was working up front told me I could put it in the metal drop box in the lobby. The line is long here but I always come here to drop off my pre-labeled packages so that is not a big issue for me. I don't like that this location does not have good parking avaliable but maybe I missed a parking lot of something? It seems like there is only street parking. It's not my favorite USPS store but it serves its purpose in providing a drop off for my packages. read more

A senior employee was so very efficient, knowledgeable, and kind that I was impressed enough to go online & do the Post Office survey. I was mailing party clothes & shoes to my destination because they wouldn't fit in my carryon & I was flying the next morning. IMO, the employee should be in charge of training all newbies. I had to renew my passport, and it is a scary thing to mail it off. I completed the form online and paid for expedited service, which requires mailing it express. Fortunately, Bill was there, walked me through filling out the express form, and ran it out to the truck that was getting ready to leave so it would go out the same day. He then showed me on my receipt how to track the package by texting my tracking number, and it all worked! The package arrived right when it was supposed to. We will be back to this location soon to buy our holiday stamps from Bill. Express mail was reasonably priced and takes the worry out of mailing. read more

I took a package for a return today. I had a QR code so it was fast and easy. There was a short line but it took a few minutes because they only had one employee working there, but the line moved quickly and I was able to hand over my package, get the QR code scanned and got my receipt and left. This is the post office I always go to. Reviews may be skewed because there are plenty of people who come through everyday who get serviced with no complaints. Inside there are beautiful murals which are nice to look at when waiting. The Post Office staff are always helpful and on it and make up for possible wait times. I love this post office. It is downtown so you can stop by and then grab something to eat. Also, it has incredible murals and if you look at the actual post office boxes, they are these old-timey, ornate tiny works of art. Is the line sometimes long? Yes--they don't have enough tellers. But the people who work there are cool. Today I was helped by Bill: he's been working at that branch for 54 years! Wow. He helped me rent a PO Box and was efficient, helpful, and knowledgeable. After visiting 4 other post offices, we found this one- the only one supplied with enough flags for our veteran's family members. The US Post Office is the only place to pick up the American flag upon the death of a veteran. The person I worked with was friendly, efficient, and even let me take his cart out to my car rather than carry the boxes. We will use this post office exclusively now! read more

The window clerk BILL is extremely rude. I used stamps to mail a first class package and handed them to him so he can put the on the box. I only ended up using one book of stamps and he never gave me the other one back. That's 12 dollars worth of stamps and he lost them. He pretty much told me "tough luck" when he couldn't find them. Stopped in on a Saturday to mail a package. I was glad they were open later on Saturday than some other offices, though the line was longer than I'd expected. Staff was professional and courteous. Lots and lots of po boxes here. Decent sized lobby with cards, packing supplies and room to put your stuff down while filling out address forms. Employee at the front counter worked with me to get the best price/deal on my shipping. I was happy with that. read more

This is by far the worst usps office and they have the worst service by far. This lady in particular with a heavy accent black hair and bangs, disrespectful and not knowledgeable either, makes up lies and says she takes care of the package "i personally handled it to the delivery person" when indeed she did not. Doesn't even take time to read the service notes. I do not recommend this location because of this lady in particular. She also refused to provide her name. read more

Similar to the DMV, it's sad that there is no 'sense of urgency' with the staff. Because of that, there always seems to be a line no matter the time or day. Parking is also a pain point since it's all street parking and this place is right next to a park. Fantastic local Post Office. Lovely Hand-painted Murals. Bill, a constant presence behind the counter, is a long-time US Post Office associate who is kind, courteous, and helpful; and will give you shipping advice if you request it. The supplies are many. They are less likely to run out of your favorite, short-run-stamps than a more frequented post office. The lines are nothing like Los Angeles lines-! I always enjoy coming to the location because of the genuine customer service. Maybe it's because it always the same people working when I come in, but they are always nice. I witnessed some customer going off on the older worker, but he remained calm and handled the situation really well. Most people would buckle under that and show aggression back but the postal worker didn't. That was cool. Depending on the day and time, yes lines can be exhausting.. So plan to come in the evening on the weekdays and you should be good. read more

HORRIBLE customer service. I go to this place several times a week. I know everyone there, or so I thought. They knew me because I'm there doing transactions that take well over 10 minutes at a time. But when I'm asking for a package that they sent away to be looked into because it was never returned to the vendor, and now I'm out $100 and I'm told that I should just keep waiting to see if it arrives. I'm patient. But then I go back after a year of waiting and constantly checking in and they're now telling me that I waited too long and the records are only 120 days old. They made me wait. And now Elvira won't be held accountable for giving my package away and the supervisor doesn't want to find out what happened to my package. Elvira and the supervisor are criminals. This place needs to be shut down. I go there every day. I respect them. They don't respect me. Don't respect their customers. They're just there till 5:00 and then forget all about the accountability of the day. I paid an additional fee to Archive my order. And now this paperwork goes nowhere because they just simply deny it. They disregard it and this is the post office but I thought was employed with respectable employees who are honest and not lazy. I won't shut up about this. This isn't right. They did me wrong and I've done nothing but support them. read more

This service is good domestic only but Don't send anything international! Sent a few books and chocolates . It's been a month in a half and my package still in customs paid $88 box for nothing. I occasionally go to this P.O. and lines are typically long,likely because it's a main branch in a mixed residential and business area. There is an older gentleman who is a bit jaded and sardonic and after standing in line ,I for one, do not want to play games,especially when asking a question in which the answer may be obvious to him and I have seen him act unprofessionally with others on occasion. I have reported him in the past. I have dealt with management about other matters and they have been helpful. Very good about holding mail and extensions. The mail carriers from that branch which service the unincorporated area I live in are thorough and personable. I give the branch 4 stars for team effort in a system of delivery which is struggling nationwide. read more

Worst post office I've ever been in and I'm from Chicago. Typically, the line is 15-20 deep. No one is available for simple tasks like mail pick up or stamp sales. Most of the counter people (usually just one) are surly, slow and disinterested. One older man there is horridly rigid and rude-so much so that I'll let someone in line go in front of me rather then have him to deal with. That is, if there's a choice. Typically, he's the only one. They need to get postage machines and join the rest of mail civilization. read more

Great historic USPS building. The murals were done during the Great Depression and are beautiful. Of course you don't go to the Post Office for art. Bill, one of the clerks is an institution himself. He always has the largest selection of different stamp commemorative items (and is a great salesman) If you just want to get your business done he's efficient and courteous. He knows most regular customers by name. This post office also offers passport services. Call ahead for the hours. The Plaza Park across Santa Clara street is a nice place to chill. Bring an extra sandwich to share with the homeless people who congregate there. It will leave you feeling good. read more

Perhaps I've been fortunate so far, but each experience I've had at the US Post Office in Ventura has been a pleasant one. I've found the staff to be very helpful and friendly. Sure, they're a little slow, and the lines do tend to drag on - but hey - it's the US Post office, I mean really, what do you expect? Just do yourself a favor and plan ahead before coming here. In other words: don't be in a rush. Which isn't too bad because while you're standing in line, take a minute to look around and appreciate all of the mural work on the walls here. I don't know if this has always been a post office, or if it was some other type of public building before this, but the murals on the walls are wonderful. They look to perhaps depict some of the history of the people in the area. Tells quite the story. As far as Post Office experiences go, the one at the Ventura Post Office was A-OK with me. read more

I've read all the reviews & can appreciate & relate to all good & bad. I've been coming here. for 5 yrs. Prior to that I lived in a small , last of the cool little beach towns in N. S.D. county with one of the smallest most helpful post offices. So moving here & going to the Post Office on Santa Clarita reminded me of the reason they came up with the Term " Postal!" lol Yes Bill can be quite the crotchety,old guy but I think the reviews were taken seriously because , it's been awhile so maybe it stopped but the employees were circling a code at the bottom of the reciept and asking you to call & let them know about customer service & there seemed to be more effort from ol grumpy to be courtious I imagine it would be pretty messed up to be " let go" after yrs of service & probabaly a pension and I notice if you give him some slack Bill can actually be pretty cool & helpful! I'm sick of the terrible service from this post office. I avoid going in to this location at all costs; the employees do not seem to want to help customers and the packaging center is terribly organized. I once waited 45 minutes for a woman to hunt down a package that was supposed to be held for me there. After standing in the lobby and watching her dig through piles of packages it turns out it was out for delivery the entire time. Just last November I had a dispute about a package not being delivered that was essentially ignored. I was home at the time of "delivery." My dog started barking and I heard the mailman put envelopes in my mailbox and use his scanner so I headed to the front door to grab the mail in time to see him walking down my sidewalk. I learned an hour later that he had marked a package I was expecting as delivered to my front door. I called his supervisor immediately to see about my delivery. I was promised a return call but I had to call back two days later to get any information. He insisted that my package must have been stolen from the front porch. I would see that as plausible if I had not gone to grab the mail in time to see the mailman leaving the front of my house. There is no way another person could have taken it without me seeing them at least leaving or have my dog bark at them like he does to everyone who enters our yard. I told him this. It doesn't seem like my complaint was taken seriously by the supervisor and he didn't seem to be investigating the employee. I even spoke with the Postmaster General on this issue. She insisted that packages get stolen all the time. I told her that I understand that, but considering the circumstances I was suspicious it was the person delivering who had marked the package as delivered but kept it for himself. I was promised a call back after she looked into the issue more but she never got back to me. I would have pushed more but it seemed to be going nowhere. I even filed a police report but heard nothing. Today is the first of the month. I had my rent check out to go to my landlord's PO Box at this post office since this morning. I went for a walk around 1pm and saw our trusty mail truck parked on the corner of my house. I returned from my walk about 3:30 and saw that my check was still where I left it in the mailbox. I'm hoping that it gets picked up Monday since Tuesday is the 4th and a holiday. I can't wait to move from this area. The employees of this post office obviously don't care about the important service they are providing to people and the management is no better. I still have to deal with the incompetence even though I never go in to the office since they are the location that services my address. read more

Having picked up the entire 'Game of Thrones' series a couple years ago, I read the first book and raved to my dad about the wonderful character development and story lines. Two years later, I'm finally in the last book while he just finished the third. We're not slow readers but four of the five novels are over 1000 pages and sometimes you just need something easier to devour. Daily calls to find out whether I'd made it to the post office to mail him the fourth book finally had me there yesterday. I don't know why I've such an aversion to the post office. It has never taken me long to complete a transaction, nonetheless, I dreaded going. Mid morning on a Friday and the line wasn't too bad-only six customers ahead of me. While awaiting my turn, I browsed the rather large collection of greeting cards and found what I considered to be an hysterically funny birthday one for my mom. Getting closer to the head of the line I spied the gift cards! Marveling at the choices, I grabbed an iTunes one for dad and a restaurant one for mom-long distance Christmas gift shopping? DONE! I am SO proud of myself...it's not easy maintaining the title of World's Best Daughter when, despite the best of intentions, my cards and gifts never arrive on time (that whole post office aversion really comes into play here)! By purchasing their gifts on October 30th, there is better than a 72% chance of them getting to New York and Florida by the end of February, because let's be real people, I still have to buy the Christmas cards for the gift cards to go in.
