A few days ago, I experienced some pain on my left side and went to my normal dentist who did just a horrible job getting down to the root of my problem only suggesting I come back into the office in 5 days for a more thorough exam. Needless to say I was in agony all evening after leaving his office. The next morning, which was a Saturday, I decided to call North Bethesda dental and to my surprise, I was able to book an emergency appointment for Monday morning. I would still have to wait an additional day for relief but I was happy to not have to see anyone other than Dr. Kim. I arrived Monday morning at 9:45am and was immediately seen. It took no more than 10 minutes to identify the problem and come up with a solution. Turns out I needed a root canal.. and before I could run out the back door, Dr. Kim and his entire staff took turns assuring me that I would be fine, feel virtually no pain during the procedure, and walk away in much better shape than I came in. I cried the entire time in the chair, but not because I felt pain-- just out of fear. Dr. Kim was so compassionate... when the procedure was complete, I wanted to give him a big hug and thank him. Just as I was told, I didn't feel a thing during my procedure. I have been referring co workers to North Bethesda during the years but I now have business cards from the office to hand out during meetings. I have never been more pleased to have dental work done! And believe it or not, this is a condensed version of my visit... I just don't have enough time to tell it all.

Conveniently located off of the Beltway, they are easy to get to and I've never waited more than 5 minutes to get in for my appointment - but they do have the best up-to-date magazine selection in their waiting room! The office is in the first floor of a home that is very comfortable...and comforting! Dr. Hefflefinger has a dry humor, and is a bit "old school" but in the best most experienced way - he doesn't try to "up-sell" you like a lot of new younger dentists do these days. You can tell that a lot of his patients have been going to him for years, a good sign of a good dentist!

I was a little scared because root canals have such a bad rep, but thankfully I was referred by my dentist to Dr. Gamson. I was seen promptly when I arrived and felt more relaxed in just a few minutes. Dr. Gamson is gifted - finding common interests to distract patients in a charming manner - and at the same time explaining what he is doing and what to expect. Also, it's clear he's a top notch expert when it comes to root canals. I had no pain during the procedure - just a bit of sting with the shots. The root canal immediately addressed the radiating pain. I was so relieved that an experience I expected to be horrible was not - and I enjoyed Dr. Gamson's charming chatter, which distracted me from my fears. The office staff was efficient and helped me understand the insurance coverage situation. Also, the office and treatment rooms have unique art displayed that I enjoyed learning about. Anyway, I'm going back soon as I suspect another tooth needs treatment...it's nice that I know I have no reason to worry.

I am a healthy 30 year old male, with good oral hygiene. Deborah Tabb recommended: Two separate teeth scaling appointments, one for each side of the mouth (I don't have gum disease lol) Two separate Gingival Irrigation treatments (Again, no gum disease) Night Guard for teeth grinding (At $375 - you can buy this from Amazon for $100) Treatment for 5 cavities (Only 1-2 likely actually need treatment) For a total cost of $783! After talking to dentists in my family (my uncle is practicing and my brother-in-law will be soon), we determined that Deborah Tabb is simply trying to bill both the patient and insurance for as much as possible. In addition, she is smart enough to avoid damaging her ZocDoc rating. Her technique was to cancel the appointment I booked for her through the ZocDoc, and then affirm the appointment when I called in.

One dentist recommended I contact the insurance company to report her. Insult to injury? The temporary crown she put on fell off within two days and the dentist who repaired it couldn't believe the horrible quality of her work. As others said here, caveat emptor. Thank G*d for Yelp.

He really lets you know that he cares by remembering things about you and conversations that you've had. He's very personable, and really listens. He takes the time to discuss options and involves you in the process. He also isn't quick to jump right in to a root canal and crown, but rather tries to save the tooth and do a filling instead if possible. He's really great - highly recommend!
