I've been going to Dr. Dodek for about a decade, and I love his bedside manner and the care he shows to making sure patients are comfortable. I had a few rough health years that meant my dental care took a backseat. When I returned with a more complex health picture, he was calm, cool, and collected and came up with a good plan for me to address cavities. Dr. D minimizes pain, and they even provide a TV with Netflix to make long appointments go by faster. Highly recommend! read more

I really like their Covid-19 procedures. They emailed me a questionnaire to fill out re Covid. They have you call the office and stay in your car until they call you to come in. They have a temperature-measuring station that you stand in front of and don't have to touch. And their staff was very helpful as I changed my old dental insurance plan to a plan that they accept. I saw Dr. Sam for my initial appointment and cleaning, and he examined my teeth and gums. He also cleaned my teeth--he told me that he always cleans the teeth of a new patient, and then later lets the assistants do it. He also measured my gums. The assistant took electronic x-rays of my teeth, which were saved in their computer system. When I came back for my next cleaning, the assistant used a dental camera (think tiny spy camera on a stick) to take an electronic photo of a molar. (At home, I tried to take a photo of this same molar, but my cell phone was too big.) The photo revealed more information than the x-ray, and confirmed the assistant's suspicion that the molar was cracked and had a hole that food can get into. Dr. Niki explained to me that the molar needed a crown, so I made an appointment for this. I returned, and Dr. Sam prepared my molar for a temporary crown. He was very skilled at numbing, then injecting pain killer. (I had no pain afterwards, not even after the shots wore off.) The assistant made a temporary plastic crown and cautioned me that sticky foods could pull it off. It fit perfectly. I have an appointment to get the permanent porcelain crown after three weeks. They will make the crown right there in their office. The assistant explained the procedure, so I plan to bring my ice water and Kindle. They also have Netflix that I can watch while waiting in the dentist's chair! read more

People tend to shy away from the dentist but not Dr. Niki and Dr. Sam's patients. Dr.s Niki and Sam, along with their professional hygienists and staff, make the dental experience special. They are calming and they take the time to hear the concerns of their patients. They create positive treatment plans and communicate in a way that is understandable to non-dental people. I happily went to them for over 10 years, through several dental matters, and only left because of proximity to where I live. Speaking of proximity- they are easy to access and parking, logistics are a breeze. The office is clean, they are always on time, they offer a lot of scheduling flexibility and they communicate often and well with patients. Go see them- you will not be sorry! read more

Practice does not give the whole answer when you ask "do you accept _____ insurance?" When I asked about my new insurance, the practice said "we do". The hygenist told me Dodek is out of network for my insurance plan in response to my comment that I was glad they took my new insurance. I got up and walked out. Dental cleaning and checkup will be free in network and over $300 out of network depending on XRays. The staff explained their not truthful answer by saying "we accept all insurance and will help you get the claim processed." Getting dental care out of network is significantly more costly. What is wrong with telling the whole truth when I called about it when I got the new insurance. It seems shady to not be upfront and say "we are not in network but we will work with you." The same thing happened to my elderly mother but she didn't catch on until the insurance statements started coming. Now she has to pay $thousands out of pocket on a fixed income. read more

I was not informed of the protocol this saw dentist Office is using during Covid. I own a business of my own. aLL of my clients know what to do and how to do it when they come to see me. I received nothing from Dodek so I walk in And received the level of rudeness completely unknown to me. One girl yelled across the room for me go outside and in my car and will call you when it's your turn to come in. Seriously??? You are going to treat a client that way? Her level of ignorance was uncanny I will never step into this establishment again. This is the second time I've had issues with these people. My suggestion is that kindness is the best approach and at this time if you don't use it, you will not get my business. read more

Horrible billing issue at this dentist. The dentist group plan even called them about not honoring the negotiated rate and they still refused to refund money owed. The office manager is not professional or knowledgeable about rules of insurance and negotiating rates by providers. They are Over billing ! read more

I am not a big fan of change when I have a good thing going, but once I moved I had to find a new dentist and a friend recommended Dodek Dental Group. I am glad to say that I've been a happy patient for a few years now. Their office is very modern, but comfortable. The front desk staff is friendly and helpful, and their waiting room area is clean and comfortable with plenty of reading materials and comfy chairs. Unfortunately (or fortunately), I rarely spend time enjoying the magazines in the waiting room as the doctors and hygienists are very punctual. Their operating rooms are clean and modern, and they have a large collection of movies and documentaries that you can enjoy if your procedure is lengthy. The doctors are great. Dr. Nikki is friendly and very knowledgeable. She is very good at explaining the treatment and answering any questions. Due to my hectic schedule, I also got to see Dr. Sam a few times, and he's been great. He is very thorough and it is clear that both doctors care about their patients. Most importantly (for me) is that both the anesthesia administration and the procedures are painless :) The hygiene staff is great. The ladies are friendly and cheerful and are very knowledgeable. In addition to explaining the treatment they recommend, they also utilize some type of video software to explain different types of oral diseases and treatment. It wasn't until I came to Dodek's that I found that there is a specific way to floss your teeth, and I will say that it made a difference that even I, myself, noticed. Overall, I highly recommend this office, and I would say that I have a good thing going. So unless I am moving out of the state, Dodek Dental Group are my dentist office. read more

This is easily the best Dentist visit I have EVER had. First of all, the office is brand spankin' new (I think they just moved there) and seems very state-of-the-art. Getting an appointment was very easy and the admin staff was very friendly. Once there, I had no troubles filling out paperwork. All of the staff and the dentist were very friendly and greeted you with a warm smile. The thing I really enjoyed most was that the Dr. and her assistants always made sure you knew what they were doing, asked you plenty of questions, and also encouraged you to ask questions. Awesome side note, they were short-staffed because someone was out sick. So they popped in a Seinfeld DVD and let me watch while I waited. By the time they got to me, I was not finished the episode, so she let me finish it while they inspected my teeth. Awesome. read more

I was scheduled for a scary-sounding procedure. It went way better than I expected. Dr. Sam did some tangible things that helped make the experience better. He greeted me with a warm smile, asked how I was doing, and asked if there was anything he could do to make the experience less scary. He took time to be sure I was completely numb. During the procedure, he would often say "Thank you" and "Please" to the nurse as he asked for things, and his tone was always relaxed and cheerful. This relaxed and pleasant atmosphere made it easier for me to relax and keep my mind off what scary things he might be doing inside my mouth. Very nice, and very professional. I will be going back. They saw me for multiple issues and i was treated with care and compassion. This is the best group that I have dealt with. The work looks very professional, and I have no regrets about choosing them. I do agree with a previous post regarding the "billing process". When I see an orthodontist, I know the charges ahead of time, When I see any dentist, the charges are always vague as you dont know how many cavities, etc. etc. My bill was high, but probably reasonable based on the amount of time and procedures done. I asked if i could be sent a bill by mail so that I could budget. She was insistant, so i paid all at once --meaning that i will have a tight budget for the rest of the month. After leaving, i realized that i did not have an "invoice" of services provided. I am a little IRKED that the Billing dept made sure that they were paid immediatly, but FORGOT to give me an invoice so that I could check it against my insurance policy and have a record of what was done. read more

I have been going this dental office for about 8 years now, after some pretty horrible experiences at other dental offices. I must say Dr. Niki and Dr. Sam are both equally great. This is the only place I have gotten fillings done where I feel very minimal pain (usually just a pinch) when getting that shot of Novacaine. I went to a another place previously that put me in so much pain that I actually cried, so I feel very relaxed whenever I come here. The front office staff is staff is also pretty helpful in scheduling appointments and such. The only negative is that they always try to sell me an expensive mouth guard which is not covered by my insurance. Otherwise, I would definitely recommend this dental office to anyone looking around in the Columbia area. read more

Absolutely wonderful place. I had gone to my parents' dentist on the west coast around Christmas while I was on Christmas vacation from school and work over here in Maryland. Naturally, they told me that I needed my only filling replaced and they didn't have time. Well, that meant I needed to hunt for a good dentist over here in Maryland. I found Dodek Dental Group with the help of Yelp, made an appointment a few weeks ago, and went this morning. It was just as great as everyone has said. Dr. Sam was great. I had only ever been treated by my pediatric dentist before and he only ever used laughing gas. However, Dr. Sam and his assistant (whose name I have forgotten :( ) were great. He even has his own technique to reduce the pain of the numbing shots and got me through the giant needle with little to no pain and then the filling fix was a breeze. It was absolutely amazing. He even made sure that I got the price of my new mouth-guard before they did the impressions so that there wouldn't be any surprises at the front desk during payment. The assistant also got me through the icky impressions without jabbing my gums, which is not an easy task with those giant metal things. All in all, a great experience and I will be going back there from now on. read more

I have to say that this is the best dentist I've ever been to. Everyone from the front desk to the dental hygienist are extremely personable and friendly. I always see the hygienist Jennifer! She has a wonderful personality. She's nice and when she asks you a question she makes sure to remove her hands from your mouth so that you can answer. She's also extremely funny! Everyone has a really good memory as well. I recently went and the hygienist to the side came to ask me about my family. The atmosphere is extremely comfortable and relaxed. We moved to this practice based on comments on YELP! Every word was true! From the front desk to Dr. Dodek herself were amazing. I had a place on a tooth that had been extracted that was rubbing my tongue and gums. I was told it could not be removed. Dr. Dodek did it in no time and what a difference. I did not know I had been in so much discomfort. The staff were so kind to my husband who has a vision problem. They explained it all to him at every step. I have been here prior to this visit and I was very comfortable but my anxiety took over. I made a appointment to see Dr Nicki Dodek that was very easy and they got me in right away. Rachel I believe her name was that took my appointment and got me in fast to see Dr Dodek. When I got there I was greeted with a smile and a VERY FRIENDLY ENVIRONMENT the staff was SUPER NICE! When I was called back I was still very nervous to be seen. The assistant (I cant remember her name :()noticed that and did ask if I was ok. I explained her my anxiety issue with dentist. She understood and kept telling me that everything is going to be fine. When Dr Nicki Dodek came in she was VERY FRIENDLY AND WONDERFUL! She must of saw the worry on my face when she explained everything to me that needs to be done and told me that it was going to be ok and that she was going to fix everything. She explains everything in detail of what needs to be done. She takes good care of her patients and the staff there takes good care of you as well. I will continue to go here and would recommend anyone to this office if you have a fear of dentist or if you are looking for a good dentist this is the place to go. I went back for a follow up appointment and it was to only be a 1hr and half. This appointment turned into a 4hr appointment. After being in the chair that long I was harassed by the billing woman for the money. The follow up appointment was costly and no one called me ahead of time to let me know about any balance. When I checked in I asked if there was anything they need from me and I was told no and then I get bullied before I left the office. The woman checking me out even asked how much the last dentist charged me. I felt that was non of her business nor was it right for her to ask me this. She then asked if I knew someone in the area that could loan me the money that I could call. Or Could I call to have someone move money over into another account so I could pay them. Or could I give me my CC information and she would hold if for 24hrs and charge my card then. I do billing for a living and this is not a very good way nor is it allowed. Dr Dodek is a GREAT Dentist but this woman who checked me out ruined this for me. Not sure I will ever go back. They didn't even bill my insurance company first to see if this was the correct amount to charge me. read more

The teeth cleaning here went well. As has been said everyone seems very friendly. However when I went back to get help on a couple of teeth that were hurting me the dentist was not able to help at all. Did not listen to what I was saying at all -- listening skills totally absent, and sort of condescending to my concerns. The appointment continued to take a bizarre twist when he diagnosed that my tooth my pain was caused by singing. No, I don't sing, and if I did I hardly think that causes a tooth ache, but this guy insisted that I do sing and I just don't know it and that was his diagnosis and he was not going to change it. He went on like this for half hour badgering me and demanding that I admit to singing. Like the twilight zone. This place may be ok for a cleaning or a simple filling, but I will be staying as far away as possible in the future. Creepy. read more

If your scared of visiting the dentist... Then this is the place for you! A completely comfortable and relaxed atmosphere in a brandnew, ultra clean, facility! Your welcomed with bright cheery faces as soon as you walk through the door! Absolutely no wait time if you make an appointment and arrive on time. I was seen immediately and taken back to a dim lit station, which I prefer because it gives a relaxed ambience. The cleaning I had was steady, thorough, and very well done unlike most places where they try to get you n out! I have always had a fear of going to the dentist but not after going here!! The hygienist was very well educated and informative in fact I thought she was the dentist! She gave me plenty of time to express my concerns as well throughout the whole duration of the cleaning. My cleaning was about 45min in length which goes to show you how thorough and precise they work! Shortly thereafter I saw mrs. Dr.Dodek. She was absolutely wonderful! The best dentist I have ever had, the only one to crush my fear of going to the dentist and I'm in my 30s! She was very polite and soft spoken and super knowledgable and comfortable on her position! I felt like she explained all of my dental needs and showed me several options I could go, unlike most dentists you go to that make you feel like you have to get a lot of unnecessary work done! She is the greatest dentist I am sure of it! She is so sweet N kind hearted i trust her with all my future dental needs! This place is fantastic! This place has literally saved me. I had shooting pain going room my ear to my bottom left jaw area since August 2016 after getting a wisdom tooth removed and had been to a th specialist for therapy, an ENT, neurologist, etc and no-one could figure out my problem. I went to dodek for the first time a dew days ago and saw dr nikki. That same day she brought up that I need a root canal in my lower left tooth that was Next to my Wisdom tooth and referred me to an endodontist. I got the root canal the next day and my jaw pain seems to be gone!! So glad I came here! read more

I was in search of a new dentist and decided to give this office a try. I never had such a horrible visit. I only went in for a six month checkup and the person cleaning my teeth acted as though my teeth were horrible... stating that I have nice teeth but alot of tartar build up and needed me to make a 2nd appointment for a deep cleaning. I go to the dentist every six months so y teeth was neglected... i asked if it would be an additional cost and the dentist said no however when I went to the desk, the receptionist confirmed that I would be billed for a 2nd visit. I then demanded that she just complete my regular cleaning. Lastly, during my cleaning the dentist checked my insurance and saw that I could get full xrays once every three years and then took full xrays. I feel robbed because if I can only get these xrays once every 3 years why would i take these xrays when I wasn't experiencing a problem and I only wanted a routine 6 month cleaning and I didn't make a decision on returning. Fyi, a coworker referred me to this dentist but he was a new patient as well. He also was advised to make a second appointment for a deep cleaning and they also saw that he was eligible for full x-rays once every three years and like a vulture thevdentst went "snapping crazy" to get more money. read more
