I thought I felt a slow shift point once or twice in the last few months so I decided it was time. I was right. Artem saved and showed me how dark brown the normally pink trans fluid had become. Yuck! The Naples Volvo dealership wanted DOUBLE what Artem charges and I can guarantee you, it couldn't have been done any better. I noticed a discernable improvement on the drive home tonight from his shop and I'm sure my gas mileage will improve going forward as a result, too. And it's not just Volvo's Artem works on.....seems like nearly every foreign car is in his shop or his parking lot. So happy to have found an honest and reliable car mechanic here in Naples. When I returned home I pulled the dipstick and the oil was obviously not fresh. I called to point out the mistake, but they doubled down and the mechanic confirmed it was done. So I found Naples Mechanics and took it there and they confirmed I was correct. While the car was on the lift, the owner also pointed out that the central arm bushings were shot and that the rear shocks were leaking. I had been taking my car to the previous place for the past 5 years, so they had plenty of opportunities to identify these issues (I only do very low mileage each season), so I opted to have the work done by Naples Mechanics and was very pleased with the work done.

When I called the company, I asked for an estimate. The representative told me that the technician would call me with the price. The technician called shortly afterward and was very prompt. I explained exactly what needed to be done and again asked about the cost. Instead of giving me an estimate, he said he would let me know once he arrived. I gave him the address, but I wasn't at the apartment because I was working. When the technician arrived, he told my daughter that he would replace the door lock for free. He completed the work and then called me to say the total was $350. I was shocked. I explained that I couldn't afford such a high price and asked why it cost so much. He responded that he wasn't charging me for the door lock because he had removed the old one, even though I never asked him to remove or replace the lock. He claimed the old lock was worth about $120, but I later found similar locks at Walmart and Home Depot for around $16. The final bill included $250 for the installation and a $99 emergency service fee. I understand that emergency service calls may cost extra, but I was never told about these charges or given an estimate before the work was performed. If I had known the total would be $350, I would have declined the service. I asked if he could offer any discount, but he refused. The technician was quick to arrive, but the lack of price transparency and the surprise charges made this one of the worst service experiences I've ever had. I would not recommend this company unless they become much more upfront about their pricing before beginning any work.

I called Sergeant Locksmith about the need for a new front door lock. Thankfully they called…read morequickly and came out and changed the front door lock to a Schlage High security multilock keypad and handle and drilled out and replaced my garage service door lock. However, I never expected the price. It was over $1100.00. I was charged $650.00 just for the front door schlage lock, which can be purchased at Home Depot for less than $200. No instruction manual or receipt was left, my old keypad lock, which was still good was taken. I had to call numerous times for a receipt. No plate was put on the woodwork to cover the hole from the old lock.
