You can tell he genuinely cares about members and takes pride in his work. However, the loan processing timeline takes forever. I applied for an auto loan and initially received an email stating that my application had been declined. Shortly afterward, I received a direct phone call from Jose Orozco, who represented himself as a senior decision-maker at the credit union and indicated that he may still be able to help make the loan happen. At his request, I promptly submitted the documents he asked for. Since then, nearly three weeks have passed. I have left voicemails and sent follow-up emails requesting an update, but I have received no response. If the loan is no longer possible, that is understandable. However, a simple response confirming the status would have taken very little time and would have been the professional thing to do. Instead, after asking me to provide sensitive financial documentation, the complete lack of communication feels dismissive and unacceptable. This experience has been disappointing, unprofessional, and deeply frustrating. I expected better communication and basic courtesy from a credit union, especially after being contacted directly and asked to provide additional information. Sad that this type of thing exists these days. No honor, no ethical standards. UPDATE I was finally updated (after this post) that I did not meet the requirements for a vehicle loan. This explains why I did not receive a follow up! I am deemed unworthy as a revenue generator for the credit union = no need to follow up, we'll just move on to someone that is worthy of our time. Unfortunate, and true. Thanks USC for getting back to me, under duress, and with information that could have been shared weeks ago. Lesson learned, painfully. read more

They've had two opportunities to work out an auto loan with me and they've been 0/2. I can't trust my capital with incompetent morons. I don't even trust their securitized debt products because what if that gets set up incorrectly? Congrats you losers. You've lost a long time customer who jumped through hoops to keep this account alive. You've lost a long time customer who loved telling other people that he banks with his school. Worst credit union ever! I called to have them cancel a credit card 2 years ago, and they never cancelled it after I cut it up and threw it out over 2 years ago. All of a sudden I get fraud charges appearing on my account after 2 years and they tell me I have to submit an online fraud form? I do not have this credit card or the card information which is needed to fill out this form?? So I decide to cancel my account with them and I tell them this over the phone. Once again they tell me I have to do this with a form online. So I comply and submit the form and I receive a confirmation email. Then next month comes and my account is still open because they never closed it! It took me two more phone calls and another 45 days to finally get them to cancel my entire account. Which cost me money I had to eat for fraud charges that were not worth fighting over any longer as this Credit Union was the worst and I just did not want to deal with them by phone, email or any other way. Run from this credit union and go elsewhere as it is definitely worth the peace of mind! read more

I've been a customer since 1999 And glad to say I am slowly leaving. Last several years the customer service has been crap- I was once sent to a call center for messaging because their associate were too busy with calls-I never received a call back- I purchased my car a year ago- even that was a red flag- the associate took forever to confirm the details of my purchase to the car dealership- I have a great history- good credit- long time customer and was treated like a scam artist when asking about benefits for the wildfire relief. I've moved over to schools first credit union. they've been wonderful- can't wait to pay off my car so I can be done- it was good while it lasted. read more

Disappointed Long-Time Member! I have been a loyal USC Credit Union member for 18 years, but my recent experience has been extremely disappointing. I recently applied for a personal loan online at 9:00 PM. By the next morning at 8:44 AM, I received an email saying I was denied. It felt as though no one actually reviewed my application -- no courtesy phone call, no chance to discuss my situation, fix the issue, nothing. When I called to follow up, the representative said she was updating some information on my application and assured me someone would review it again. Days later, I still have not received a single call back. After nearly two decades of membership, I expected better customer service and communication. Long story but my $70 became $2.72 and although it's not a lot of money, USC Credit Union earned a 1 star review today. In 2018, I got a car loan here but it required that I open a savings/checking account. So I opened one and had $70 in it. Couple years later, I think around 2020, I paid off my car loan and forgot about my checking/savings account. Recently though, I got a letter from them saying I have unclaimed money and that it will go to unclaimed properties. So I went there today get my money and learn that my $70 became $2.72 because the minimum balance is $100 if I don't have a car loan with them so they've been charging me $3 every month for years since I paid off my car loan in 2020 until my balance got too small for them to keep stealing my money. Mind you, they never sent me a letter or called me to let me know my balance is too low. It's not like they don't have my address or phone number, I get their junk mail for life insurance like monthly or something but they can't send me a letter or call me about my account? I asked them nicely to reverse the charges but "the manager" only approves 3 charges to be reversed, so they gave me $9 back and the $2.72 I had left in the account that they couldn't steal. I didn't want to raise a stink over such little money so I took it and left but in return, you get this middle finger instead. Hope you lose to the Bruins! read more

USC Credit Union used to be decent about 20 years ago but today it has to be one of the worst credit unions. Don't fall for their rates or their "promotions"! The service is terrible and not worth it. They promise X amount of money to open an account with complicated requirements and even if you follow them, they will find any technicality not to honor the promotion! One time they sent me a check that wasn't even signed! They asked me to return it in a FedEx envelope that they would be sending me so they could fix their mistake. I ended up driving about 82 miles to the closest branch to get it signed, otherwise I would've waited forever for a FedEx envelope that never arrived! Never again! read more

I called USCCU and spoke with Naci Fisher and she was informative and professional. She got us started on the application, reviewed it, sent out the loan documents (with a return FEDEX envelope), and her team was so efficient, that the entire process took less than 2 weeks! An update on this update: I'm free at last! Just received an email this morning that all of my accounts were successfully closed with USCCU. In the 14 years I've been banking with USCCU, it's been nonstop disappointments. Some highlights below: -When I wanted to set a new pin for my USCCU debit card following a breach in a credit bureau, I had to physically come into a location to do this -When traveling abroad, USCCU's debit card was eaten by an ATM machine due to suspicious activity (yes I'd put an alert on, didn't matter). Thankfully my Chase debit card saved the day. -When purchasing a new vehicle, USCCU's interest rate was higher than BOA's. I've been a customer of BOA for an equal amount of time and was able to lock in favorable terms because of it while USCCU gave me nothing -The app is absolute garbage and the website is just as bad. Archaic and more complicated transactions require you to visit 3 inconvenient locations only open 9-5 on weekdays. I know credit unions can be a great alternative to big banks, but USCCU is a credit union in name only. There are no upsides to being a member (favorable loans, excellent customer service) and only the downsides of a bank with no branches, no 24/7 support, and more. The amazing news is that my credit also went UP once I closed my account here. I'd let that stop me for so long. Don't let it stop you! Today's the day, you'll never feel freer than when you leave USCCU behind. --------------- Updating my review to share that USCCU has finally broken the straw that's made me realize I need to close my account for good after 13 years as a customer. This is a decent bank when you're a student with no credit making minimum wage. This is not a bank for alums. I disputed a transaction with a retailer (an airline) that admitted they did not render a service to me. Despite photo and email proof where the retailer's customer service agent clearly stated the service was not rendered, USCCU refused to allow a chargeback. I have accounts with Chase and Bank of America, two big banks people always say are terrible. But I've only had stellar customer service from either. Meanwhile, USCCU has been a broken, sinking ship for years and I stayed on due to some strange loyalty being an alumnus, but it is only a credit union in name. I even tried to get a quote for them on a car I purchased last year... BOA beat them! If you still don't believe me, take a look at the customer service manager answering Yelp comments. Notice how they only respond to positive feedback and ignore negative comments? That's because they literally do not care about you as a customer, only about patting themselves on the back. Very disappointed with my refinance application with this bank. I have been a loyal customer with this bank for over 15 years but the last experience with them leaves me a with bitter taste. After getting my pre-approval , I have been sending them everything they asked for to move my loan forward. Been almost 2 months now and today they tell me my loan application expired and they can no longer honor the interested rate they promised. Apparently, they forgot to send me a DMV form .They accepted their mistake and apologized ! , but in spite of that they would not make it up. I accepted their new rate (1 % higher than the original rate I was approved for) but this is clearly BAIT and SWITCH . Highly Unprofessional ! read more

Don't do it! You can join better credit unions! I had a savings account that was drained by the credit union with service fees. They stated that they sent me mail, which they never did. I never received one bit of mail after my initial deposit. I found out that they closed my account and gave it to the State of CA. Less than $5. Not one call, letter, etc. the CU seems like they are behind the times and not up to date with other CU's and banks. Watch your money here! They also closed the Orange County office. read more
