Extremely frustrating experience with USC Credit Union. I went in to update my address and was told to do it through the app instead. That same weekend my account was hit with fraud, and I was later told that changing my address online caused a delay in getting my new debit card due to a "cool-off period." When I went back to the branch, I was told the opposite--that it didn't matter how the address was changed. It's now been over a week with no debit card, late bills as a result, conflicting information from staff, no reply from the branch manager, and even a 15-minute hold that ended with a disconnected call. The only helpful person through this entire ordeal was Maria--she was great. Overall, very disappointing customer service during a stressful situation. read more

I can't thank Evelia Martinez enough. For years now, she's helped me with all my banking needs. I always go to the Keck location at the Health Science Campus because I know I'll receive top-notch customer service. Whether it's applying for a loan, auto loan, or refinancing, I prefer to handle everything in person with Evelia and her amazing team--they never let me down. This time, however, I applied online which is offsite call center not attached to branch. I've been so busy and didn't have time to stop by the branch. That was a big mistake. I was stuck in emails back-and-forth for weeks trying to get an auto refinance that usually takes just an hour or a day at most. The online customer service was terrible--delayed responses, no call backs, and overall poor communication. Eventually, I called Evelia, explained my situation, and decided to head into the branch to finish everything in person, like I should have from the start. As always, she didn't disappoint. From beginning to end, she got things done quickly and had my refinance completed within the hour. The moral of this review? Evelia is a rock star. I'm incredibly thankful she's at this branch. I am so thankful to the manager Brenda Jackson of the HSC branch for going out her way to help me with my account. I had discovered fraudulent activity on my checking account and I called the customer service number around 6pm and waited on the line for 15 minutes only to have someone hang up the call. So I texted Brenda Jackson just to inquire about customer service and she chimed back with "how can I assist you ?" I told her that there were some unauthorized charges on my account. Some of the best customer service I've ever received. Robert in customer service just helped me with a ACH fraud dispute. He was thorough and empathetic. In the past, I've also had great experiences with their customer service reps and branch managers. I wish their mobile app had the ability to deposit into IRA accounts and I wish the daily deposit limit was higher than $5,000. Occasionally, I've had to go to one of the USC Credit Union branches in person to deposit checks. However, that's a small price to pay for their excellent customer service. read more

This place is awful. I gave a one star rating because zero was not available and because this place is conveniently located. There is one informed and capable worker at this branch.... only one. Representatives are slow and offer very little information at this branch. I would not recommend this branch to anyone. If you are not associated with this credit union, run away. Run far away. Rewards and perks are futile; might as well put your money at a regular bank. Luckily, I have access to another FCU. They reused to move forward with every little aspect of creating of my account (including mailing my ATM card), without a face to face appointment. I prefer the old school way of doing things, but in this case, I avoid this location at all costs. This account has merely become a holding place for lunch money. read more

I have been a USC employee for 14 years. I have been a member of the USC Credit union from day one. They won me over on day one when they were able to process and give me an ATM debit card on the spot. I now have a credit line and just finished getting my second automobile financed through the credit union. Brenda, the branch manager,is a excellent example of the high standard of customer service that the HSC branch offers. She is informed, helpful and consistent. She can handle any issue you might have. She got me pre approved for my car loan as well as numerous Christmas loans over the years. Greg Griffin accepted my call today as I needed help accessing my account. He was engaging, warm, knowledgeable, patient and most important he treated me like a human being. I felt like I was sitting right beside him as he assisted me via phone for my online account access. It's the little things in life that go a long way. Usc has been one of the worst customer service experiences I have had to deal. They have made everything as difficult as possible when trying to handle my grandfathers account. Particularly Cynthia Jackson at the Zonal branch who was oh so friendly when I went in person to provide my grandfathers death certificate but after that appointment she ghosted me anytime I tried to get a status update. No return call or email. I had to take more time off work to go back in person to get a follow up and turned in all the documents AGAIN and was assured the closure process will proceed now. Two weeks later I called headquarters to find out why no documents had been received come to find out there was no update in the system that I had just been in 2 weeks prior. Then that rep assured me she would call me back after trying to contact someone at the branch and guess what? No return call. Usc credit union had made the whole experience an absolute head ache, inconvenience and disappointment. I'm currently on hold again with headquarters to try to find out any information for the 4th time. The employees here look like they have a stick up their bum and act like it's the customer's fault. They look at you like you are the biggest inconvenience since traffic was invented and like you just showed up to interrupt their pleasantly solitary leisure. I was forced to come here because I made the mistake of falling for the scam that credit unions are better. BS. I signed up with Southland and the USC credit union is the closest shared branch to my work. Not only is it bad enough that the money transfer app charges for every transfer but my closest shared branch, USC, is awful. You have to take a number and wait outside for something as simple as withdrawing all your money when you realized you want to be back at B of A. read more

Banks are always a joke. The people who work here are very nice and helpful. But the bank overall is ok. Example 1 - I deposited money into the atm. It took 5 days for them to process it! There was no warning message on the machine that it takes that long. I looked through my paperwork, no information there either on how long it takes. Come to find out there is a drop off, checks only, deposit center where they will process it within an hour. Why that information is not publicly stated is beyond me. Example 2 - I tell the bank that I'm going out of the country and will be using my card. I try to use the card and can't access the funds. When I return, I had no call from the bank asking if I used the card, or that my atm card no longer works. People at the location dont know and told me to call a number. 45 minutes later, and multiple transfers later, I find this information out. Shouldn't banks be telling you this information?!?!?! And on top of that, I told them I was going out of the country and that's why account was frozen. Either no one left a note, even though they said they would, or no one read the notes. read more

So today was the big day I went from bank defector to responsible bank user. Many that know me know that I am against banks because of the outrageous fees and just general dislike of the banking powers that be. With that being said I found out about how credit unions are a lot different and to me more intimate than the big banks of the world. I walked into the branch and signed the list and here I am waiting to meet my maker ( the bank associate that is) and surprisingly it wasn't that long of a wait being that this particular branch is so tiny, hence the intimacy. I was greeted by Sara and off we went. Sara is probably the best banker I've ever come in contact with. Not only was she very informative but she helped me get out of my bank distrust issues. After a bunch of laughs and insightful knowledge of how the credit union differentiates its self from other banks I was sold and I opened up a bank account. My Wife is a USC employee and we decided to buy a car so my first thought was to go to the credit union to get the approval notice. The branch at the health science campus is close by our home so we went to that one. We were serviced by Andrea the loan expert. Andrea helped us immensely from getting the loan, informing us on how to postion ourselves at the car dealer to returning and beating the dealerships interest rate. She was so professional and happy that we were got the best deal possible and we didn't feel ripped off by the dealer. Underwhelmed by their lack of customer service, lack of responsibility and lack of follow through. We have tried on three different occasions and opportunities to give our business to USC CU and they have failed to deliver on those occasions. Really small branch. They have a number system to being called so pull a ticket from the reel. If you want to actually sit with a banker you need to sign in. Service is usually fast so I can run down on one of my breaks but I try to avoid lunch time. I wish they had an extended closing time though, I think lots of people would benefit from that. read more

So today was my first attempt at trying to obtain a loan so I was pretty clueless as you can imagine. I was greeted by an individual by the name of Belva Bradford, whom I didnt realize at the time, would be the cola to my vodka. We sat down, it got intimate real quick. I told her this was my first loan request and quickly she provided me with words of comfort. We got started. It was as if she was physically holding my hand as she walked me through the process. They have low rates for Loans, however their customer service would benefit from some improvement. After waiting 15-20 minutes outside to sit down with a banker to go over my loans I was told to talk to the teller and then see them. Finished making payments with the teller and had questions about my loan and the banker I initially interacted with seemed bothered and annoyed that I was asking questions about my loans and the logistics of it. giving USC CU 3 stars as of now; may revise if i see a difference or get answers. the customer service i have received thus far have been pretty good. when i send a message they reply within an hour. so for that, i am satisfied. however, they lack in other areas. its a bit mind blowing that it takes 5 days for funds to be available to you after depositing though the ATM or mobile app. when i asked about my first deposit and why it was taking so long, a rep told me it's because my account was new, so i cut some slack. this is the third time i am experiencing a long hold on my checks. i am switching over from citibank, and even though i DESPISE citibank, at least my funds (whether it is deposited at the bank, mobile or ATM) are available as soon as i deposit. this makes me worried about my direct deposits when they begin. will they be available on payday or not? its a bit frustrating to have to plan around that. I also had a hard time opening my account due to a glitch in the system. i was denied an account a few times regardless of my above average credit score and no marks against me from other banks. so that was a bit frustrating, but it was thankfully resolved. i just hope i do not regret switching to USC CU. read more

The HSC branch is small, but easily accessible, efficient and friendly. They take good care of you all the way around. They always double check to make sure they get you the best rates possible, and they make sure you understand what's what, so you never find yourself wondering if you are signing or paying for something you aren't truly aware of, like the hidden "convenience" fees a lot of banks tack on to every possible transaction.
