Lighthouse view from the beach trail!
    Abby H.

Point Iroquois lighthouse is absolutely breathtaking. The wooden trail along the beach is also really nice. If you are close to Tehquamenon or Soo, definitely check this place out!

No coupon is worth that abuse." But then curiosity got the better of us. We wanted to see this mess for ourselves. Color us disappointed! We must have hit it on an off day or something, because we had a decent breakfast and she even subbed fruit for the meat for me! I had three glasses of good iced tea, and the service was on point. Even with the coupon it cost pretty much what we normally pay for breakfast but I assume it's hit or miss with the food and service here. My guess is if it doesn't look crowded go for it. You may, or may not, be disappointed in any given day. We were pleasantly surprised today.

While we were waiting, another family arrived after us and stood there for about 15 minutes without anyone greeting them or even saying, "We'll be right with you." Once we were seated, we were placed in a corner while most other guests were seated out on the main dining floor. It honestly felt like we were forgotten about. Our waitress rarely came back to our table. We were seated at a table with no napkins in the dispenser, so we had to ask for those, and no straws were brought with our drinks. It was difficult to even get our waitress's attention. If you're staying at the hotel and planning to use the breakfast coupon, be aware that only four menu items qualify, and none of them are particularly appealing or a good value. I ordered a Diet Pepsi but was served Dr Pepper instead. I assumed it was an honest mistake the first time, but my refill was also Dr Pepper. When I finally mentioned it, I was told that their "Diet Coke" was Dr Pepper, which didn't make any sense since Dr Pepper and Diet Coke are completely different soft drinks. To top it off, our bill was over $60 for food that was average at best. Overall, the service and value just weren't there. I'd recommend saving your money and eating at Darrow's or Pancake Chef instead.

It's at Whitefish Point, which has seen more than its fair share of shipwrecks. Of course, the top of my list was to see the bell from the Edmund Fitzgerald. I also found it interesting to learn about lesser-known wrecks--I had no idea that so many were the result of foggy collisions. Be sure to visit the light keeper's quarters, surf rescue boats, and the beach, of course. Thank you to the knowledgeable docents who were so friendly and informed. A great value for the $15 ticket!

Why the Visit Mattered to Me: Thanks to Mr. Lightfoot,…read moremillions learned about the story of the Edmund Fitzgerald, and it has stayed with us for decades. Over the past few years, I watched every documentary I could find about it, and each new detail made me even more interested in the ship, its crew, and its legacy. My wife and I spent several months planning the trip from our home in west-central Indiana to the museum, and we finally made it there this month. The experience exceeded every expectation. What Stood Out: * The museum displays were powerful and thoughtfully presented. * The surrounding area and beach added even more meaning to the visit. * The story was preserved in a way that felt personal, respectful, and deeply moving. I am a 63-year-old grandpa, a retired military veteran and biker and certain stories just hit me hard. This museum broke my heart in the best and most meaningful way. Every time I hear Lightfoot's song, it brings tears to my eyes, and I find myself praying for the wives, sons, daughters, and families affected by this tragedy. Thank you for bringing this story--and so many others like it--back to life. I loved this trip, and I am grateful for your work in preserving this important history. Brilliant!

We decided to visit the Falls today as it is only about a half hour from our current campground…read more You do have to have a state of Michigan recreation pass you can either buy an annual pass or just the day pass which we did which was $12 for out-of-state It is only about a quarter mile walk back through the woods, bring some bug spray and you'll get a decent view of the fall, but if you really want to get a little closer, you'll need to take the pretty long ramp way, which is wheelchair friendly to get all the way down to a huge viewing platform to get the picture that we took The path is all wide and paved, and even on a Thursday mid morning, it was pretty busy Today was a little marked by the fact that there is a lot of smoke and ash from the Canadian wild fires drifting over into the upper Peninsula, but we still were able to get a decent view Parking was free, although the lot is not very large so plan accordingly. There is also pretty limited cell phone service, from Verizon anyway, on the way out here so make sure you've got your maps downloaded. Clean restrooms are at the entrance to the trail as well
