We have banked with the USFFCU for a number of years. About 2 years ago my husband moved his IRA there. (It was moved without the RMD taken for the year.) This year it was invested in a CD, but we decided to move it to an investment account at Schwab. We paid a large penalty to the credit union to do so and submitted the paperwork to move it in January of 2025. The check was held for about a week before being sent, then we found out that not only was his 2025 RMD taken out but also taxes. Who takes their RMD in January? You always let your investment grow during the year to maximize your distribution. He had just gotten a distribution in December when he always does. He did not authorize his 2025 RMD to be taken. It has impacted us significantly financially and when I called to inquire why they had done this they told me it "has to be done if you move an IRA". THAT IS NOT TRUE. They put it in a savings account there. I have moved my IRA multiple times and never had that happen. I THINK BECAUSE HE IS 86 YEARS OLD, HE WAS TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF. I have lost all faith and confidence in this institution and intend to move our money elsewhere as soon as our next CD matures. Absolutely horrible. Why does it take 5 business days for a payment on my car loan to get credited to the account? Even when the payment is being made from my USFCU savings account? It's a complete scam so they can collect more interest on the loan. Over the life of my loan, those extra 5 days per monthly payment will add up to over $1,000 in extra interest. The payment doesn't even show up as a pending payment on the app. Even when I've called their customer service, they don't even see a pending payment. They've told me nothing shows in their system until the payment is posted, which is 5 business days. DO NOT GET A CAR LOAN FROM THIS BANK. read more

I have been with USFFCU for 7 years and have a credit card, personal loan, and several auto loans. My loan officer is Daniel Ossenfort and he and the Underwriters are exceptional. Daniel takes time to explain things thoroughly, communicates often, responds quickly, and gets the paperwork turned around fast. He is always professional, friendly, and courteous. This credit union is complete garbage. First and foremost, Sellwood, mark my words, you have falsified my payment histories, journal entries, and were nothing but completely arrogant.  I have over 300 pages of financials and every bank statement for the 3.5 years we owned our car. Up until you falsified the documents and had it repossessed over nothing more than a personal vendetta between you and me. I do believe any and all bylaws and/or code of ethics and/or expectations of employment do not allow you to make outside phone calls pertaining to bank business off your personal cell phone on a weekend. I have overl 1.5 hours of those. I'm also sure they wouldn't like, or at a minimum frown upon, the over 12 emails you and I corresponded through wherein never once was it mentioned of owed amounts because there were none. Up until someone changed them to reflect incorrectly then called in our repossession personally, Mr. Sellwood, on a Sunday. All this because I made you mad demanding answers for all the incorrect charges, balances, and credit reporting, and the fact your credit union had absolutely no empathy for me as a consumer. I was sold a brand-new car that had a recall which resulted in three local fatalities and had no warranties or anything on a brand new car with an additional 100k mile warranty after the factory. Yet, none were valid and were void the day of purchase because of the motor issues. Considering the recall was issued and addressed in 2018 when we purchased in 2019 and remedy were not released until 2021. That in itself is illegal for any dealer to sell,t attempt to sell, consign, or lease any vehicle while an unrepaired recall is known and no remedy of repair available. When I prove the fraud, which is imminent, you will genuinely understand what it felt like. This credit union brushed this all under the rug and has yet to ever send me the Florida-required repossession notices before or after. Sellwood hand-delivered my non-letterhead containing non-legal documents for repossession. No letterhead, not even a representative's signature. It's quite funny; I've never heard of any credit union hand-delivering any documents via USPS, especially one as legally binding as this. You know what you and a few of the people under you did, and surprise, I'm not stopping until I have your banking career for fraud, and that will gladly transition into your new legal diagnostic career. I had a vendor charge me 5 times for a cheesesteak at Gasparilla ($110!) and I have been unable to reach the vendor about the charge since there is no contact information on their business page. When I disputed the charge with USF Federal Credit Union they refused to help me and denied my claim on the dispute, ignoring what I said during my call to the bank - simply stating the the charge matched the receipt (that I sent them and mentioned in my dispute). No one has called me to discuss this despite me calling to complain as a customer of the bank who has almost never filed a dispute on any charges. The customer support rep who answered the phone just said her boss was "busy" and I have not heard back days later. I do not recommend this bank! They do not seem to care about their customers even after 10+ years of being with them. read more

Got jerked around trying to complete a refinance of a home I already own. They told me to switch the deed into my personal name out of the business name in order to complete the refinance. 2k later and then they deny me for a different issue they had already previously approved. I would give -100 in stars if I could. Let's just say I made a huge mistake getting my vehicle loan thru this company. I have worked several years to make my credit A1 and this company was able to ruin all of it in a matter of 3 months. As reference I have paid off 4 cars with other lenders in 1-2 years with a 5 year loan plan from each car. 2013 Lexus, 2015 Lexus convertible and a 2018 Honda Civic SI each $20,000-$32,000 a piece paid in full before I got this loan. Sadly USF FCU has been awful in all ways possible. Starting January 2022 as many did, I caught Covid and was in a coma/bedridden for over a month. I had no family near me and besides being alone in Florida I missed my first car payment for January and was finally able to get back to work middle of February, Long story short, I lost my house and fell super behind in my bills to where I had to relocate out of state "across the country" with family. I am sure many in the world can relate. At the best possible time I attempted to contact USF FCU and was met by a bank that has the same name with no affiliation, the number was not located on the app until recently and by the time I was able to figure out their number I was 2 payments behind. I received no call or anything from the bank and was completely on my own to figure everything out. I have never experienced such a hassle in paying or trying to arrange something especially in such a time of need. When I was finally able to get ahold of someone I was given the run around and met with "we tried to reach out". I have had my number for 15 years and would have known if they called "if they left a msg". At the time of talking to someone I requested an extension of 2 months and was sent a packet, I paid to file that packet in addition to giving pretty much the same info I gave when I got the loan originally. I sent it back and called back to make sure they had received it. I was informed they had received it and was told to make the next payment, payment #3. At that same time I did advise that my check would possibly be short and that I would attempt to pay the following check. I was told ok and Nothing more was said. I woke up yesterday to my car gone and after reaching out Was treated like a criminal by an agent name Nicole. I was able to come up with $1000 "by getting a loan from friends" for which would have covered 2 payments and with the extension I was under the impression I had obtained would have brought my account current. Again I got run around and after working my A** off to get $1,000 of a past due balance of $1,600 the the day of my car being taken and while working, I was met with "well it doesn't matter" the only way you can get your car back is to refinance the full balance elsewhere or pay the full balance off in 10 days. Are you Freakin serious?!?!??! My APR on this car is only 4 percent. In addition USF added $8,000 to the loan balance which brought the total to $42,000. My original loan amount was $36,000. I have been paying $500 plus extra since august 2021. From January to April USF dropped my credit from 710-441, which makes one unqualified to refinance or anything or even get a loan without a co-signer. They refuse to allow me any ability to get my car back and to add salt to the wound Nicole mocked me by saying be ready for a bill of the balance when we sell it at auction. I requested a manger and was treated pretty much the same way.. F- this company and DON'T GIVE THIS COMPANY A CENT. I literally work in auto finance and handle cases like this every day and world never think to treat a Customer in this manner. Thank god my company doesn't treat our customers like this.. They should be ashamed on how they treat ppl. Here I am at 35 years old starting my credit over because a company that gives no F***. DON'T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE.. go somewhere else. I am willing to bet they did this because of the chip shortage are probably just selling my beautiful 2018 low mileage Lexus for more money for what they can and charging ppl more to line their pockets.. such crooks. read more

This is an absolute abomination of a credit union. They truly do not care about their "members". Got a loan from them (not my choice) in 2020. I lost a job in that time and rather than truly work with me, they allow me to keep falling behind on my payments. I have racked up almost $500 in late fees and haven't been able to catch up. If you need to ship a payment, they want tons of paperwork and for a committee to decide your fate. Rather humiliating. When I had a previous loan with Nissan, they allowed you to take a skip a pay up to twice per year without penalty. If you do the paperwork and get "approved", you get to pay a $35 fee. As I said, I'm only a member because my loan got shopped to them. I suggest that if you have a choice, do not do it. Stay far away. read more

Amazing customer service, I had an issue with my credit card and credit report and I not only had everything resolved, it was resolved in the same day. Sandy Wigington the director of risk management, Chip Sims the manager of resolutions, and Deborah Clark the chief Marketing Officer/SVP all deserve a separate 5 star rating. USF Federal Credit Union really values their members, evident by their amazing directors and mangers. Amazing customer service starts from the top down, and I really feel how much they care. Sandy Wigington said to me and I quote "We pride ourselves in providing member service excellence because we value our members and hope to make a difference in their lives" and they really do. I have a checking, saving, credit card, and a car loan though them and I will be opening up a mortgage with them as well. I have been a USF FCU member since 1998. They use to be great. However, since the merger with Darden CU it's been a downward spiral. We use to get interest in our checking, not anymore. We use to get primo interest rates on our savings, not anymore. Fees were reasonable, not anymore. We use to get quality customer service, not anymore. I have a credit card with them as well. Recently I scheduled my payment and it was an on time an in time payment. THEY failed to process it in a timely fashion and in fact processed it late. There wasn't a holiday involved, not a weekend. It took them almost a week later to process it. They charged me a late fee for their ineptitude. I finally got i the late fee waived after several back and fourths with a rep through messages. However, that was with the statement "we will waive the late fee this time because of your excellent payment history." They made it sound like I was at fault and THEY were doing ME a favor by waiving a late fee which should have never been charged! I've recently moved all my banking elsewhere, where I get 3 times the interest rate on my savings accounts. I get better customer service and have more banking features. Their website also doesn't have issues and bugs like USF FCU's. You would do well to find a different CU. I hope one day they realize their mistake and start doing things right. However, with Darden being a part of the CU, I highly doubt that will ever happen. With the current leadership at this CU, I highly doubt this will ever happen. read more

Truthfully, one of the worst banking experiences a human could have outside of Russia. I have been trying to help my son on his car loan. I call the number and try extensions suggested on the letter he was sent. It simply made the AI rep speak Spanish. Then, when he does get through, they ping pong him back and forth between departments. The left hand doesn't communicate or even know the right hand here. You wait for an endless amount of time on hold, then get told to place yourself in a queue to have them call you back. If lucky, you get called back an hour later to get rude representatives who really do not know what they are doing sending calls to different departments. The last time this happened, I got hung up on, resetting the process. If a car dealer tries to stick you with a loan from USFCU, try to refuse it. Otherwise, expect to be treated badly. Been a customer for 17 years but might have to change institutions as it's practically impossible to speak with anyone. The last three times I've called I've experienced hold times of over an hour. Currently on hold right now for over 90 minutes and still no response. I'm in the process of buying a home and also working full time, so these delays aren't just inconvenient but potentially costly when time is of the essence in closing a deal. Really upset at how I go to Puerto Rico (US Territory) and it was a hassle to go to an ATM to access, and calling multiple times to get access. Over the years I have had some pleasant dealings with competent USF employees. Unfortunately they are more the exception than the rule. You will almost never get through to someone when you call, "no one is available to talk with you at this time". If you leave your number you may or may not get a call back. Their loan rates are usually very competitive but the hassle of dealing with them on practically anything has lead me to take most of my business elsewhere. They may deserve more than 2 stars in some areas but customer service is not one of them. read more

USF credit has been practicing illegal banking practices since October of 2018. This update has caused them to have an increase in penalty revenue due to delaying their customers payments. For example, my credit card is due on the 16th of every month. If I don't pay my credit card on average 3-5 days I will get hit with a late fee. Mind you my bank remove the funds the day of the transfers while USF won't post my payment after my due date. I spoke to a rep and they informed me they were making more in revenue due to these late fees and they continue to cheat their customers and lie about a system glitch that never happened. read more

I've needed to call a few times and been very pleased with the pleasant and professional way my call was received and the matter handled. I'm happy to say my loan was paid off yesterday. I never thought I would write a poor review of USF FCU, but after my experience today I felt compelled. I was a member of the credit union while an undergrad, left after graduating, and joined again in 2011. I never had an issue -- until this weekend when I noticed that since March of this year I have been charged $5 per month for a "bad address." My partner and I purchased a house over a year ago, and although I thought I had updated my address everywhere I needed to, I realized it was possible I missed one or two places. I checked my FCU profile, but my address was correct. And, I had also recently received mail from the credit union so I was confused why I was being charged for a bad address. I discovered this on Saturday afternoon after the bank was already closed so I had to wait until today to call. The person I spoke with was polite, and after asking me for some information to make sure she was indeed speaking with the account holder and a brief hold to investigate, she informed me that the bank (not me as I thought I had done over a year ago) changed my address in February after my W-10 was kicked back by the post office. This is where it gets confounding. I can understand one charge for the honest error on my part, but the address was corrected and I was still being charged. So, I asked the question, "If the address is correct and I'm still being charged how do I prevent this from continuing to happen?" The response was "now that you have verified the address with me you won't be charged anymore."... Again, I'm not without fault in this situation, but I never thought USF FCU would treat its members like most other banks. read more

After being a member for almost ten years and always paying my loans on time and even before time, after having a motorcycle accident and being out of work for a couple months I see the true side of this credit union. I contemplated switching banks after leaving Tampa upon graduation but being that I always had a great experience with them I decided to keep the relationship and account open. The benefit of shared banking with other credit unions helped make that decision as well since I could go into local credit unions and conduct business. Now the main branches I use are saying that will no longer be an option as of 12/31/2019. Now that I have fallen a little behind on my accounts and I am trying to catch them up no one seems to want to offer a helping hand. I am not looking for a handout because I know my responsibilities, but when I call in I get routed to the resolutions team automatically and 90% of the time it goes to a general voicemail and either the mailbox is full or no one returns the call. When I call into the general help center, once my account is verified they transfer me to resolutions and don't even want to hear what I have to say. In the description of the bank it says "we realize everyone needs a little help from time to time and we are here to help", does not seem true at all to me during this time where I actually do need help. Clearly all roads are pointing me to close all my accounts with this institution due to lack of customer care or customer service and that I will not be able to conduct business from other locations anymore. read more

I've had an account here since undergrad (11 years ago), and have moved to California, Delaware, Nevada, and Pennsylvania since, and still kept it open. With the shared branches with other credit unions across America, you can still get full teller services wherever you are. Any issues I've ever had with a check card or my account have been resolved quickly and easily. I've bought 3 cars through them, and had no problems at all, and got great rates. Their online banking is excellent and easy to use as well. I guess having an app for my phone would be nice, but I'm not willing to give up a free interest bearing checking account with no minimum balance for the privilege. read more

I've been a member of USF Federal Credit Union since I moved to Tampa ten years ago. They've financed every vehicle I have purchased during that time and have always offered the most competitive loan rates. I enjoy the lower rates and lower (or nonexistent) fees for the array of standard services provided by financial institutions, the higher deposit interest rates paid, and the excellent customer service they've provided. I don't go into the branch offices often, but when I do, I expect to have a comparable wait time as with any other financial institution (5-45 minutes, depending on the day and time of my visit). I like that I can bring my loose change and have it converted to cash without having to pay a fee...I guess I'm simple like that. It would be nice to have a few more physical locations with which to do business, but in all honesty, I think I have walked in to a bank five or six times *max* in the past year...and this year was a rather busy one. read more

I have been with USF credit union for about 7 years. Really no complaints, business as usual. But recently dealt with a terrific guy in the loan dept. His name is Erik Hamm. He is extremely kind , personable , easy and straightforward to deal with. He is always available to answer questions and concerns. He did a auto refi, and and helped with a personal emergency loan where time was of the essence. He did in it an extremely expedient time frame, and made the process easy as pie. I would highly recommend Erik for any loan transactions. And he doesn't sound automated like a lot of people in the industry, he sounds like a genuine human being who actually cares. read more

I have a credit card with them. My payday is every 16, the last month I paid on the 14th, that same day they sent me an email saying that they had received my payment, to my surprise they charged me $ 27 for late payment. I wrote to them and their response was, that they take up to 3 days to make the payment and that therefore they were not going to refund the late fee. The worst company ever, I definitely don't recommend them. read more

I've tried everything to try to get a simple statement from them for my account and they are either unwilling or unable to produce a statement for me. While other institutions allow you do a simple task like this on line, they are telling me that I have to drive over an hour to get a statement and even had the audacity to tell me that they were going to have to charge me to produce a statement. I found this credit union from a car dealer. We were given a fantastic rate and the customer service has been good when I have called.

I'm starting to wonder about the capabilities of this Credit Union, especially when it comes to electronic banking. I tried USF when a car dealer suggested them for a car loan. That was 6 months ago! So far, they have had a month where 20,000 transfers did not go through because of an IT glitch. Then they don't tell anybody about it. When I see the transfer was not made, I call USF and then find out about the "problem". When I ask them who is going to make the transfer now, they tell me they will do it, and then I get a courtesy late notice! Their IT glitch-but my problem! Take ownership. Fast forward to May 1 when I auto-schedule my transfer from my bank to pay my car loan through USF. I just got a late notice 6 days later. When I check the status of the transfer it just says pending! So I call USF and they tell me it takes 3 business days for an electronic transfer, and then the weekend came so hence the 6 days. I could have had a check clear faster!! Electronic banking is just that- it's supposed to be fast. Maybe same day, maybe day after, but not 6 days. Is USF living in the dark ages? Do they not want to upgrade their banking systems to the 21st century? I don't know the answer to that one. But something has to give or I'm going elsewhere! read more

If 0 stars was an option I definitely would've chosen it. In my opinion, this bank is awfully incompetent. I've had numerous occasions of fraudulent charges with this bank. They have been for smaller amounts, and were refunded. However, I recently lost over $700 for charges made at Best Buy. Even though Best Buy was able to validate the purchase, the usf fcu STILL didn't return my money! It seems they admit fault based on the amount of the fraudulent charge. TLDR: This bank is NOT secure. Card information stolen easily. read more

BEWARE, especially vulnerable college students. Got this account as an undergrad but since has become very bad experience. Very bad customer service, and fees. They are rude and judgmental, but only if you manage to get to talk to someone before they simply hang up on you. Also always a hassle. Mobile app frequently malfunctions. I have had my debit card cancelled for simply making purchases and they immediately cancel the card calling it fraud. This happened 2-3 times per year until I got another bank and basically stopped using this account. Now they charge overdraft fees (instead of just not letting the payment go through) and fees for just having an account (thought credit unions didn't do this?). Constantly spamming me trying to get me to take loan and credit card offers. They closed my account and cancelled my card without notifying me and wouldn't take my calls and lied to me over email telling me I could resolve the issue over the phone just to find out account was closed permanently. AND they were extremely rude about it. read more

This bank is awful tricky and underhanded! They offered me a "convenience pay" of $500 then a month later I wrote a check for $415 and they waited a week till a Friday before a 3 day weekend to bounce it saying that this feature can change anytime and they don't have to notify you. I received no letter no call nothing. Now they put a block on my account so I can't deposit anything but cash. I would find another bank or move my money to a bank that respects you. Rhonda, sandy, and their manager Darlene don't even email me back anymore. I'm filing a complaint with the federal reserve. I suggest current members should do the same. read more
