This USO is located on the lower lever at BWI. Overhead signs throughout the airport point you in the right direction. Upon arrival, you must register with the USO to use this facility. There are tablets set up for this use at the entrance, as well as staff sitting at the desk if you just have questions or need other assistance. They were friendly and knowledgeable. Once through the registration process, you can look up your name and sign back in on future visits. A few comfy seats are also located in this area by the door. Baggage must be stored in their baggage room. This is a large room directly across from the reception desk filled with large shelves designed to handle luggage and duffle bags. It makes sense to keep everything in this room, otherwise the waiting area would be stuffed full of bags making it difficult to navigate. As everyone here is in the military, and the staff can plainly see the room there is no worries about security. We kept our backpacks with us for most of our stay, but did store them in this room when we went for a walk. Once your bags are stowed, walk toward the back. There are no windows back here so no natural light, unlike the reception area. Plenty of overhead lights keep it bright but if you crave sunlight you may prefer the front area by reception. Just let them know. On your left as you walk back is a large room full of computers. Here you can use their internet services for work or play. We saw several people in here playing online games. Bring headphones for this purpose. Past this room is a larger open area with a snack bar and a large television mounted to the back wall. In the snack bar area are several tables and chairs, a refrigerator holding sodas, iced tea and the like. Seats also line the side wall here. Closer to 'check-in' time for the Patriot Express, this room was filled and those seats needed. The snack bar is manned and the volunteers there are very nice. We were offered hot coffee, breakfast bars and other pre-wrapped snacks. Hot dogs, burgers and other microwaveable hot items were also available. Not gourmet, but free, so absolutely no complaints here! There is a menu of available items on the wall. Dishes of snack sized candy bars were on each table. I took a couple for the long plane ride ahead and was thankful to have those! There are several seats in front of the television set up on rows. A small library is also in this area along the side wall. It was crowded here and not easy to navigate the rows or library because it was so busy, but it is certainly a nice amenity to have and clearly being enjoyed by many people. I was not watching so not sure what programming selection is available. Many people were sitting in this area scrolling their electronic devices because seating here is a bit more comfortable. Wifi is available throughout the USO area at no fee. Down a hall off this area are rest rooms divided by men and women. The ladies room had personal care items available at no cost such as, deodorant, shampoo, toothpaste, as well as a diaper station. Across from the ladies at the end of the hall is a bunk room where you can get a few hours of shut eye. It is softly lit and you are expected to be quiet when in this area. Next to the bunk room is a children's room which was also softly lit with places to sleep and play for the littles who must be supervised at all times. All of the volunteer staff here were lovely and very helpful. We had many hours between our hotel check-out and airline check-in. The staff told us about a small observation area and we were able to come and go throughout our stay. We just let the staff know we were going for a walk before we headed out. Just outside the entrance are some USO luggage carts. One woman traveling alone had so many bags a volunteer assisted her to get the items up to the check-in counter area. There is an elevator from the lower level where the USO is located to the upper level, close to the Patriot Express check-in counter. If you are active duty, retired or dependent, this is a very nice spot to wait for your flight whether it's the Patriot Express, a commercial airline or just need some time for you ride to pick you up. Calling all military connected people in the area. This USO is quiet, secure and friendly. There are many snacks, hotdogs and drinks to choose from, a large tv area and a business center. The men's restroom even has a daddy diaper changing station for the little ones. It is free to all military and veterans and families so the value is on point. I was met with a smile and found a nice spot to sit and chill while waiting for my flight. Love the USO. read more

Love them love them! They had made my day just for a brief hour. I enjoyed the Jamaican pattie, coffee and energy drink. Courtesy for our military I felt so rewarded. My kids got to play xbox for half and hour and I was able to take a breather. Thank you for the complimentary carts I was able to borrow having a lot of luggages. Everyone here is friendly. They have available computers and a lot of areas to lounge, even a little nursery for families with small children. Thank you for taking care of us at the lounge! I'm so happy they have this for us. It's located directly near the baggage claim. For military and vet families having long connecting flights or who come early prior to boarding.. it's a life saver! read more

This is one of the more well-equipped USO facilities located in the major airports. It's located next to the Baggage Claim 14. It's closeness to Security Check D&E makes it very convenient, especially for those who use military transportation. This fairly large facility has a large section of TV room with comfortable chairs as well as some tables and chairs for eating and perhaps for some board game playing time for families and friends. Staff are very friendly eager to assist you with your needs. There is a temporary storage room for your larger gears. There is a computer room as well as some gaming consoles. There was even an announcement for a trip to a shower facility if you really wanted/needed. If you have a long layover or long wait for your flight time, you could take up on their offer. What a wonderful USO! Well, really every USO is wonderful, but this is the largest one and has lots of great services! From a lounge and dining area to a kids play room, there is so much space here and so many things to do! I am always so grateful for these in each location, it takes a lot of volunteers and time, and our servicemembers and family members really need a place like this!! My son thoroughly enjoyed the family/kids room, there are tons of toys and it actually is pretty clean. There are lots of drinks and food to choose from which is always nice! And you can drop your bags in a separate room to keep them while you hang out. Also, there are private bathrooms which is so nice instead of having to use the airport ones!! I do have a couple issues with this spot just from a logistical/realistic standpoint... there is no food or drinks allowed in the kids room. Which is SO hard, cause what do kids love as much as playing? Eating. So, we have to rotate into the other room when one of us wants a snack or drink and it really caused a lot of effort and wasn't relaxing. The other issue in there is that you can't turn out even one of the lights in the kids room... but there are cribs. If they expect kids to sleep (which mine needed to) there, it's really impossible with all the lights on. It would help if maybe just half could turn off. Otherwise, the staff out front was very friendly, and so helpful! So so thankful for this USO! read more

All of the volunteers here were very nice and welcoming. You have to electronically sign in and show your ID so be prepared. There are nice comfortable chairs in front of a nice TV that isn't too loud. There's also a totally separate area for eating and consuming beverages. There's a wide assortment of food/snacks to choose from along with various beverages. Unfortunately it's before security but if you have time on your hands, a good time for military families to kill time. read more

Wow. Talking about waking up on the wrong side of the bed. Tried to enter this USO with my wife, son, granddaughter and his wife to take a little rest between flights. Upon entering the female at the desk. Let's call her " miss attitude" was waiting and ready. She asked for everyone ID with a tone I've only heard from someone who is hating life. Diane K informed me that my family couldn't enter due to not having a military ID. This was the first I have heard of this and let her know that we stopped in at the beginning of our vacation. She said and I quote " well you must have snuck in". I was shocked at her attitude toward me and my family. I told her once again that I have never heard of this rule and we have been allowed in USOs in Cincinnati, Denver, here and other places. She once again with attitude and shaking her head no... That " that is the law" and " I don't know when the last time you traveled was " If this is the rule I understand and accept the "new" policy. My problem was her attitude and how condescending she spoke to me. Diane K don't need to be volunteering especially at a USO or anything dealing with military. Just my 2 cents. Came to BWI early, went through security and then I noticed that the USO is outside of security. It was on the lower level and right by the elevator. I signed in and there is an area to drop off your luggage. Show military ID and log into USO website. There's snacks, books, magazines, area for babies and an area to sleep. I was only there for an hour and the volunteers were really nice and friendly. read more

Wonderfully friendly volunteers staff this location. It is located outside the terminal near baggage claim. If BWI is just a stop over, the USO is accessible but you will have to clear TSA to get back in the terminal again for your connecting flight. The offer a limited snack bar. Fresh fruit, and beverages to refresh the travelers. There is a TV room and internet cafe as well as free wireless if you are toting your own devices. This location still has a renovation on going but in 8 months, I am sure I will be revising the review to 5 stars. For military travelers, be sure and stop in, visit, and thank the great volunteers. read more

Great place for Military members to relax at before or after a flight. Has free food to eat and drinks to drink. There is a large seating area to watch tv, sleep rooms, and baggage storage. Easy place to find, next to baggage claim 14. If having trouble google search USO BWI, enjoy! read more

The USO at Walter Reed is the best one I've been to. I have been to several of the airport locations, but Walter Reed is full service with an art room, game room, computers and a full kitchen. They have a lot of lunch & dinner functions open to all active duty personnel. If you are on base and need a place to go where you will feel welcome...go to the USO! read more
