What I can tell you is this -- I came here looking for decent suits and I found *many* of them. Racks and racks full of suits. I tried on around 10, I bought six of them. In that group of six, only *one* will need alterations. That's right -- five suits bought and ready to wear for right around $100. I've been to a bunch of thrift stores in the DMV. Really, look at my other reviews. Bottom line -- if you want real variety in men's suits, I haven't found any place better yet. Yes, maybe some thrifts have *nicer* suits on a per capita basis, but at this store, you'll have a lot of options and if you have a relatively common body-type like mine, you can come away with a full closet if you want it.

From an employee pov: they want you to give it your all and even then that isn't enough. Training is iffy and normally left to your coworkers on short notice. Management is strict, current store manager wrote the review under mine about herself. I enjoyed my time working there until I felt like I was under appreciated and basically told that I should be glad they kept me as long as they had. This is a good stable job if you can tolerate being walked all over by some your uppers and worked to the bone and work like a mechanical robot at a high end store. This is a goodwill not some designer brand and they really do pick and choose what they keep. They also never pick the phone up unless they are in the office.

I have been using Green Drop for years to pick up donations with no problem until 2024, when they…read moretook my porch furniture that was not marked for donation. I usually identify all of my bags for donation by either writing Green Drop or G.D. On the bags and or boxes. I was able to reach out to the director to retrieve my porch furniture. I received the 2 chairs and the ottomans back, but I did not receive the table that was also taken. I spoke to a manager who promised to just purchase a new table for me. I sent several pictures with prices from Amazon and I never received a response. Needless to say, I ended just purchasing the table myself at the cost of about $40. No big deal. I vowed to give them another chance. However most recently, like within the last 2 weeks, they picked up another donation from my home. Approximately 6 garbage bags marked G.D., 1 small Home Depot Box also marked G.D. and another box that was marked NOT FOR DONATION. I have called these folks to try to retrieve this box to no avail. I had many items in this box that I will never be able to replace, my late dogs ashes, signed box from my children's grandfather, who is no longer with us and a few other items that are not replaceable . Green Drop called me today, a week later to tell me they were unable to locate said box. I will not be donating with them again. They are not able to follow directions. Very disappointed!!

They use the proceeds from the sale to help subsidize the cost of shipping books internationally, to military posts and prisons. New digs, so I need new furnishings. Decided to thrift shop for home decor and essentials before paying for new. Scored some really great deals! Like an ironing board for $5.99. Billy Squire greatest hits CD for $1.99. (No judgement!) Lots of baskets and containers for storage, new lampshades, a looks-like-new baking pan, and a bunch of other similar items. There are rows and rows and rows of household items, grouped by a top category (such as kitchen appliances), then subcategory (such as coffee makers. Bedding, then King sheets. Furniture, lamps. Etc. You get the idea.) Then there are categories for Wood Decor, Plastic, Metal, etc. Rows and rows of clothing are similarity grouped: Jeans, grouped by size. Shoes, books, purses, toys... everything. This makes it so much easier to find what you are looking for than at places that group by color. (What "color" does butter dish fall under??) Loved all that. Didn't like: 1) No fitting rooms. I wasn't shopping for clothing, but if I had been... I don't buy any garments without first trying them on. Covid, perhaps, but still... 2) To use the bathroom, you have to first find an associate to unlock the door. When a person was trying on a cart full of clothes in the bathroom, the associate said he is "not getting involved with that." Um... can you at least call for a manager, then? 3) Finally, there were 4-6 Self-checkout stalls and no wait. Literally, no one was checking themselves out. Great! I love checking myself out so I can take my time, ensure the correct price, and review whether I really want to buy something. So I begin. Then I hear a bellow (really, a bellow) from the lone cashier telling me, "You can't check out there! I need to check you out." I look around--is she talking to me? She was. I gather all the stuff I'd already rung up and get in the long line for the only cashier. At some point, a new cashier took over so I asked the original cashier--very politely--why I couldn't self-check. Because I had too much stuff, she said. Ok, I get that... but maybe there should be a sign? Maybe you could be less militant about it? As I'm in line, I see a guy try to ring up a guitar at the self checkout. Now there is an employee there who tells him he can't, he has to get in line for the cashier, too. He looks as annoyed as I. Finally it's my turn. I have a cart full. I feel bad because there's now a line of people behind me. No time to ruminate about my purchases or check prices. The new cashier is no friendlier than the original. She also seems annoyed. Maybe because she sees a line of people for her, while the self checkout lanes are empty. I don't get it. Seriously, I'm baffled. But I did get a nice head start on home decorating, so there's that.

I mostly shop for clothes and they have a great shoe section and a well organized bag section. There are no changing rooms here. The bathrooms were clean and nice but you do have to walk through a staff area to get to them. I found some really great pieces here! Some Value Village tips- think carefully about which day to come. Mondays and Thursdays have 25% off sales but they are busy. Weekends are busy too. You can always get a 20% off coupon if you donate. Also, since there are no changing rooms wear something close fitting so you can try on clothes over what you're wearing.

Items are now taped together and when I say tape, I mean, heavy duty industrial tape. Most checkers will not de-tape items so you can check the quality. Luckily I found one who tried. For example, if you are wanting to buy a set of China, you want to hold the plates. You want to check the edges for chips, including the cups. Generally, you cannot do that unless you find a checker who will un tape them for you and that's not easy. I spent 30 minutes in line the other day while the checkers found someone who would un tape two items I wanted to check out only to leave without those two items 30 minutes later because they couldn't get the tape off and they were disagreeing on the price that was coming up on the scanner. They lost $40 worth of business from one customer and I'm wondering how often this will happen until they cancel this stupid thing they are now doing. 1 thing to consider - if they couldn't get the tape off, how would I do it when I got it home? I'm thinking it's going to be better to go to just regular thrift stores and forget about Goodwill for a while.

And, the value/quality for some items are pretty good for a thrift store. However, the donation center is where I deducted stars. The center is operating off of limited hours and when they are open, the staff barely come outside or down the stairs to greet customers. On several occasions I have encountered rude collections reps to the point I started donating my items with FaceBook Buy Nothing Groups.
