Terrible just terrible!! Five days before Christmas of last year (2022) I sent out three packages from my neighborhood Post Office they all came here. I paid for two day shipping. They were suppose to get to their locations which was Medford, Wi, Saint Hedwig, TX and Garland TX on Thursday and Friday. Both packages to Medford, WI and Garland TX got to their destinations on time! The package going to Saint Hedwig, TX did NOT! I just assumed everyone got their package until 7 days later I get a call from the recipient saying that it was still sitting at Elk Grove! It sat in limbo for 10 darn days! That's really ludicrously bootleg! What is going on at Elk Grove!?! She called and I called the USPS hotline and filed a claim. Then mysteriously it moved! She finally received her package on January 2nd of 2023!!! The package was smashed and had holes in it. It also had been taped in one of the areas. Her Rum Cakes were hard as rocks and the homemade Ghirardelli Turtles which I sent in a small cooler with dry ice was melted. This is the worse place not only for mail and packages, but also everything else that could be wrong with a business. Mail that goes through here is always delayed by days/weeks and more times then not sent to the wrong address. Because this is a universal and constant problem, it means this is clearly a management problem and those "leaders" of this place are responsible. Not sure if it's incompetence, laziness, stupidity or and combination. But it's very sad. read more

Had a package shipped to me First Class from Chicago South Loop to Chicago Lincoln Square -- less than 10 miles away. Label printed 10/10, Origin Facility receives package 10/13 Origin Facility ships it to Elk Grove Village on 10/13 - 2 hours later Elk Grove Village Distribution Center SHIPS IT TO NEW YORK - some 800 miles away and it arrives on 10/15 -- the date it was supposed to arrive at my door. It's now 10/16 and the package has been sent from NY to "The Next Facility" and will be later than predicted. WELL DUH. YOU SENT IT 800 MILES AWAY FOR NO GOOD REASON WHEN THE PACKAGE WAS LITERALLY 10 MILES FROM MY DOOR WHEN IT STARTED. I'm guessing "the next facility" is Elk Grove Village again but I'm really hoping wherever it lands, it's back in Chicago and out for delivery. There was no reason to ship a package from Chicago to New York only to end up back in Chicago again. I know leaving a review won't change anything, but people should know to be aware that your package might get to take a vacation somewhere far away for no good reason. The second time I sent it Priority mail same amount same results.............. THERE IS MAJOR MAIL THEFT HAPPENING IN CHICAGO. I have a package with $1300 insurance that was mailed out April 24 it was scanned in at this facility and never left it was supposed to be delivered April 27 it's now may 5 and no where to be found. I had another package checked in yesterday should have been sent to mount greenwood location to be delivered today instead got sent to round lake and then to palatine Illinois opposite direction. Awful...just like the rest of USPS.Anything that you ship via USPS that isn't guaranteed service will not get prioritized. The only have two priorities, outside of doing the least amount of work they can in their day, which is get Amazon packages out the door and Priority Express. That's it. Every other shipment, to them, is just something to steal or kick into a corner and forget about. My Priority Mail was late days ago and they clearly have not intention of getting to me in any sort of "priority". I actually think the moment it became late, they gave up. I believe the literally kicked to ground the moment it became late. Just a bunch of giver-upers with no price and sense or urgency. read more

The people who work here are very helpful . My package was lost and they were to find it and get it back to me . There are a couple times when the tracking info online said one thing and customer service would say another but the employees communicated with each other so my package could be found . I did find out that there is only one office in Atlanta that deals with all the lost mail in the USA !! thankfully my package did not go there ! read more

This Elk Grove sorting facility is aweful. I sent a package from Arizona to Schiller Park, Illinois. The package moved along in there tracking system until it hit this facility and stop. I filed 2 complaints and after the 1st one i researched reviews and comments and found nothing but complaints. Several employees had posted on the facilities Facebook page some not happy about working and counting down their Time left to work for the day. Meanwhile my package was sitting there not getting processed. After 2nd complaint I got a call from someone from Franklin Park facility and let him know of my discontent and said they needed to investigate this place. So after my package sat there for just short of 4 weeks, it finally was shipped to Peoria, Ill distribution car. I continue to follow it through tracking and hope that it arrives soon. read more

I have been working with my local post office in Itasca IL. The postmaster there has been trying to locate a USPS priority package that was sent to this facility on 3/31/22. To this day, no one has returned his phone call, no one answers the phones at this place and nearly 17 mail days later, I have no progress on locating my missing package. . I have filed an official complaint. The postmaster is calling this place daily. How does a person expect to get help with lost mail? I have copies of everything. This package is lost over there at this facility because it has not scanned out. BEWARE....the workers here must be on a forever lunch break or they just aren't doing their jobs. read more

I ordered a package August 23rd, which acceidently had the wrong zip code applied. 1/2 of the order made it to my apartment, so I did not realize there was an issue. The other half of the order was driven around Chicago, in and out of this distribution center for a few weeks. I contacted the shipper after receiving information about it being forwarded to another address, and she told me they must have shipped it back to the supplier, though she was unsure. They applied the new address and it would be back out in two weeks. I understand that the original error was my fault. Now however, I have just received another notificaiton that the package is back at the distribution center and has another issue with processing. I called the center, and have been on hold for 35 minutes and counting. I don't know how to work around any issues if you can't get ahold of anyone. When you pay for Priority Mail 2 day - it is more like paying more for standard shipping. I paid about $50 to ship my item!!! NOT WORTH THE MONEY or HASSLE USE UPS or FED EX AND GET YOUR PACKAGE ON TIME!!!! I shipped my package out Tuesday 1/12/16 at 6:49 PM and received a receipt for PRIORITY 2 Day - should be delivered by Friday 1/15/16. It left the post office that I checked it into at 1/12/16 at 7:46 PM to head over to Chicago Metro Hub. I got an update yesterday stating it just arrived at Metro Hub 7:14 PM ON 1/14/16!!! SO WHERE WAS IT SITTING FOR THE PAST TWO DAYS WHEN IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN TRANSIT??? Now my package is way late and won't' make it. I called USPS several times today and each time, someone told me something different. I had someone even told me that, "Oh well you should of paid express instead of priority mail, that will guarantee you that it will get you delivered to destination. Ordered a leather jacket twice from Straight to Hell in Chicago. This place has such horrible logistics and organization! First jacket I ordered was processed through here and sent to ORLANDO, FLORIDA instead of directly down to DALLAS, TEXAS - I live about 28 miles north of Dallas. This package took an unnecessary detour and got to my house on the 9th of February, when it was supposed to have ended up on my back on the 7th. The second jacket I ordered came in on time, but this facility's system is so crappy that I get a notification at 2:49 AM the day after I ordered the jacket, saying DEPARTED FROM ORIGIN DISTRIBUTION FACILITY - ELK GROVE VILLAGE IL. And Johnny at Straight to Hell told me that it would be shipped out of Illinois before 10 PM, as far as their experience goes. I'll gladly take UPS over this crap. read more

Fuck Chicago Mail Hub. In the last 3 months I've had three huge issues. One took 3 months to JUST get through the Hub and to its destination. The other two packages were lost forever with no reasoning. One item was irreplaceable, so I guess just fuck me. Now I see I have another item being shipped through that hellish shithole. I do NOT recommend using USPS for any important shipping or packages. They are good for regular pieces of mail and junk mail, that is about it. No wonder people stop using USPS... I have a package from Kentucky that should've been here yesterday, it said out for delivery for awhile, but after that, an error on the tracking site had said "Undeliverable as addressed" since Saturday. I had my friend call, who was the one sending the package, had him tell them the address and name again, and they were supposed to redeliver it today... It was IN my town, ready to be delivered, probably no more than 15 minutes away. I think it was Priority 3 day mail, too. Alas... Nothing in the mailbox, and no one showed up at my door. I called my local post office to try and see if they had my package, it forced me to listen to this 2 minute message about getting information online, which I have already done, and then sat on the phone while it rang for two minutes. No answer, and the line went dead. I am perturbed! It never even said it was out for delivery a second time, and when I checked the tracking number again, since they didn't update it until 6 PM, and it says it's in Chicago Metro Hub! So either it's going to be stuck there for a few days or they're sending it back to my friend. I google Chicago Metro Hub, and apparently the place is notorious as a black hole for lost packages and mail, so I am hoping if it doesn't come back to me that it will at least get sent back to my friend so he can use UPS or FedEx to send it! This is the most ridiculous issue I've had. Update: 9/11/2016 - I just got back on Yelp for the first time in awhile, figured I would update this. I ended up getting the part after my friend resent it to my using FedEx... either way. The part was in the area but never got delivered because it was a different mail carrier. This specific person didn't know that I lived at the address... because the box didn't have my name on it. That should've been fixed when my friend called the place and gave them my name and address again. Yes, so they should've had my name. A woman called me and told me that if they had basically communicated to the regular mail carrier and communicated at ALL, they would've known that I indeed lived at the address, and I would've gotten my package. I am only giving two stars because this facility has processed several of my packages I have ordered from the Chicago area quickly. That is way when one gets stuck and this happens 2/5 orders... sometimes stuck just one day now I am looking at 5 days with no update the expected date of the 15th has passed. I also have two others orders that have passed through this place and are on their way!! So why this one! And the most expensive one! So frustrated with how unpredictable and unreliable this facility is. Sitting packages for days with no update!! This is not expectable at all. My daughter had a package from England sent on Dec. 06 where she is based in the Airforce...The Chicago "Hub" the last scan said it left them Dec. 10th...it is now Dec. 23rd and my daughter is home for the Christmas visit and no package... it had all of her Christmas gifts in that box...her Airman boyfriend mailed the box out for her and only had enough money to insure the package for $50.... Every package or piece of mail I've received that has gone through this place has been at least a day late, if not more. Priority 2 Day shipping comes in 4 days. While some areas of the country show that USPS has improved over the last two decades due to increased competition from UPS, FedEx, et al. this shows how broken government run things can be. Now it is stuck in the hub for the last four days with no movement whatsoever. The delivery date was supposed to be June 17th and it's now July 7 th and I still do not have my items. Does anyone with workers on the USPS parcel sort the parcels not by address only for better insured and less insured ... those / less / most often disappear from tracking records and, surprisingly, any USPS agent can no longer find them? Nobody knows nothing ? We lost the other expensive shipping last month. Everyone pretends to be looking for them but nothing further. It's been 3 weeks. After all, the USPS counts the payment for delivery to the addressee and the tracking number gives you some sort of guarantee for the transfer. So can not, USPS - must find a culprit who neglects the duty of the government employee. It follows that this is theft. Workers' thefts can not be accommodated and can be impunity. We are a longtime legal business for years we get packages by UPS, FEDEX, DHL and other. Everything went well. In contrast, 6 pcs, which were sent USPS, 2 pcs - never arrived. Nor found. Can someone from the USPS managers answer me? We are losing over $ 2500. which was paid by us, we have invoice goods and proof of payment. Who will pay us for the losses? Government agency? Do not pay for parking, or speed, red light, road sticers, quickly find, you will soon get a double bill, always the right address and here is such a great trouble or provide addressed labeled package?
