The Chincoteague post office may not look like much on the outside, but inside, I found a wealth of information. The postal worker there, a pleasant woman, was so cordial and helpful. She gave me some history of the post office dedicated on 1963, telling me that this structure replaced the smaller post office which used to be further down Main Street because it outgrew the population, which is now approaching 3,000. There's plenty of parking and easy access. We came on a Saturday, and it wasn't busy at all. After giving me a brief background of the building, the postal worker was eager to show me the variety of stamps for sale. She spread them all out on the counter and let me choose my selections while we chatted about the designs. She gave postal workers a good name! Yes, this "vintage" edifice can use some perking up, maybe update the flooring, lighting and a splash of paint. But the brass mailboxes, the retro mint tile which I loved, and other antique fixtures add to the charm of this older post office. The hours are 8:30-4:00 M-F, Saturday 8:30-12:00. No passport services. Mailing supplies were plentiful. This post office is average in its appearance, but the affable customer service took it up a notch!

Sadly, the other lady told her she had it too when she said she couldn't find them in her draw. So signed I did on the back of my card. I've never done that purposely so I can show my ID instead. Sophia usually handled that arena by mostly ordering online, but we were running short so I was given the task to pick some up. It was right after I got off work so I stopped by on the way home. Foot traffic was very minimal which resulted in no wait at all. I actually stood in line for no longer than 15 seconds. As stated earlier, it was for buying a book of stamps. To my surprise, the cost for the book was over $14. Back when I used to ship items off by mail, stamps cost under $10. It's crazy to see the prices go up each year. Unfortunately, we have to accept the changes and move on. Besides the price increase, the transaction went smooth as usual. I know this location will always come in handy for yours truly. I showed up at 4:45 because that's when I could get there. This lady was yelling at me the WHOLE time complaining that "I showed up right before they close" I grabbed the 2 bubble wrap packages I needed and went to put the items in there (hadnt even been there 1 minute) and she yelled "I'll do it" and grabbed the stuff out of my hands even though she had no idea which package went with which packing slip. I got irritated and told her she needs to give me a minute, good thing I checked because she had the wrong package with the wrong slip. She complained the whole time talking about "Everyone shows up right before I close, I'm sick of this I need to get off work on time, don't you want to get off work on time, management needs to change the hours we need to close at 4:30 because you guys are ridiculous showing up before we close, I can't do this" blah blah blah. I get it she wanted to go home. But I was hurrying, and would've been done in 2 seconds but her complaining and yelling made everything take even longer. People showed up after me with packages that literally just needed to be scanned, and she turned them down and closed the door, it wasn't even 5 yet. If you hate it that much, get a different job. Dont berate customers for dropping off packages when you work at the damn post office.

It makes it very convenient to ship a package. When I have needed to but stamps at the counter or ship a package I've had no issues. I reccomend going here for a great location. No complaints.
