What a wonderful hidden gem, if I knew earlier about this place I would have come here every week for a picnic. I had so much fun.

We won't be returning. I wish I would have read the reviews, but I have only experienced beauty, cleanliness and friendliness in Utah State Parks. I thought, foolishly, with the high cost of Utah Lake SP, this would be a given. We pulled our trailer in to the check-in booth and encountered a tired/disinterested worker. He gave my husband a tag and said, 'everything you need to know is on the back.' So, we followed signs to our campsite. It had no trees but did have a shade over the picnic table. It was located next to as marsh and a swampy lake, as were all the other sites. I drove back to the booth to ask the attendant if there was a map/handout showing where the showers, beach and marina were. He produced a map and gave me a brief and bored introduction. He said they don't hand out information upon check-in because there are return campers. I should have realized something was wrong. The dirty, murky, smelly and churning lake had some boaters and quite a few fishermen. The beach was packed-gravel and small weedy, foamy waves washed up. The water was green and looked very dirty. I feared for the children playing in the water. The showers were just okay. The nozzle needed to be pressed in order to maintain a water flow and the floor was slippery. The spray shot toward the towel bench instead of the person taking the shower. However, there was hot water. The worst for last: after the sunset, great swirling tornado-like clouds of small crane flies rose up from the marsh and lake like mini swirling tornados. We couldn't use the bathroom as one of the swirling masses, attracted by the outside bathroom light, positioned itself completely in front of the door. When we entered our camper hundreds of others pushed in. We went to sleep with the buzzing, albeit harmless, creatures bombarding us. Yes, there bugs when you camp, but an expensive state park campground in a marsh seems very ill-considered. Never again! Final comment-gross. read more

I don't know if it's just the time of year (mid June) or it's like this all the time because it's close to the lake, but this campground was swarming with bugs: both dead and alive. It was pretty gross. Plus points for the shady picnic area in each site. Came in handy in the 100 degree heat. We also appreciated the fairly level, gravel site and the water and electric hookups. We used our inflatable stand up paddle boards in the harbor and that water was disgusting. Only the kids braved it cuz, well, they're kids and that stuff doesn't phase them. read more

We came here to fish during a weekday around noon. The entrance fee is $15/vehicle or $4/person unless you have a State Park Pass. The lake probably had around 3 other groups scattered about fishing, which wasn't too bad. There were a lot of people just taking walks and biking around the park too. The parking lot was rather empty despite the park being so vast. We went to fish at the lake to the left on the rocks and didn't get to explore much else besides this part. There is also a red spigot here with some shaded areas so you can wash your hands or take breaks from fishing. There are a lot of mosquitoes around the lake and it does get hot so bring bug spray, sun screen (always reapply), and water!!! Especially if you are staying for a while, which is always the case if you're fishing! Within 2-3 hours everybody in my party caught at least 5 fish. With some catching 10+. There were periods of times when the waters were more stagnant and nobody around us caught any fish but then when people start catching fish, everybody seems to be catching fish all around. It's always so fun hearing how happy people are around us when they manage to reel something in. There are also snakes and spiders in this area so if you're afraid of snakes and spiders, maybe stay away or be more careful of surroundings. During our fishing period, we saw over two snakes. Overall, pretty fun place to fish! Just remember to protect yourself from the sun and the bugs! read more

Huge lake with awesome views. We went for a long walk in between all these big meals that happen during Christmas. Magnificent landscape, especially with Timpanogos as background. The water was frozen and it was nice and chilly to see the goose and birds and ducks hanging in there, barely moving. Very poetic and solitary. It was nice to read about some species of fish that are unique of this area and you can only find one of them only in this lake, that was prior in almost extinction (Is always nice to read what others have post for us visitors to know more about the surrounding ecosystem, right?). Worth a visit, not sure if for camping, but for fishing, I saw some people at least trying to get something out of the frozen waters. read more

Beautiful spot to camp in regards to being located in the mountains. Sunset was beautiful. The spot was not the best for tent camping as ground was not flat. No shade. Looks like a good spot for RVs and pop ups. Sprinklers turned on at 10pm and went to 11pm. No warning of these at check in and we got wet in the tent as windows were open due to it being warm out. Clean showers and bathrooms. Very pricey for a camp spot $30 read more

We came here after spending 3 nights at Bear Lake. We were disappointed to see trash, old dirty socks and shoes laying around and green mossy, duck poop everywhere on the shores. Someone left old tire rims on the rocks in and by the water. There was none of that at Bear Lake East Beach where we camped. The scenery was pretty at Utah State Beach but there were black ants and knats where we sat too. We had to move to get away from them. Okay but not my favorite lake to hang out. read more

The nature is of course gorgeous but the amount of trash around the park is ridiculous especially considering they charge $15 to enter the park for day use. Looks like they do not make good use of the money or don't care. read more

$10 for the first hour of paddle boarding + $5 for every hour after The rental process was nice and easy. You pay at the booth before entering into the parking lot and they radio over to the shack to prepare your equipment. Paddle boarding was really fun but the lake was pretty murky and there were lots of bugs in the air. Also, there are no showers onsite to rinse off after you're done. Other than that, I enjoyed my time on the water. *you don't have to pay for parking if you are renting equipment* read more

What's the worst thing you have ever smelled? Rotting fish chum stuffed into a durian?? WRONG! It's utah lake. It's like a cat that recently ate asparagus urinated literally up your nose with such force that it goes down your throat and you are effectively drowning on cat piss. You gag but it feels like the person is becoming a part of your essence. And then one of your lame friends that dragged you out to the lake tells you to take a paddle board on the green frothy body of water that is utah lake. No. Just no. I don't want my future kids to have two heads. Gross. Two stars bc it's pretty sometimes tho. read more

Should've done research on the park rather than just go there on a whim. It's $10 to enter, $5 if you're a veteran (with proof), was it because I had my HI license plates that I had to pay? Went to just scope things out. There's a camping area, picnic area, general store that you can also rent paddle boards from (I'm sure the other reviews have the price on it), a harbor and several ramps for your boat and have seen others fishing (The water is murky and calm). read more

The Utah Lake commission has made big strides to increase awareness of the lake. This state park is a nice, large park to visit. There are plenty of picnic tables, some camping spots, docs, and places to explore. The "sandy beach" is so-so. There are a lot of weeds in it and the sand is a bit rough. There are places to rent paddle boards and such. read more

Beautiful area. I was here in October on a rainy night, so no bugs bothered me. Water and electric hookups for $25. Each site also has a shelter, picnic table and grill. Otherwise there are no substantial trees for shade in the campground area itself. Push button showers. The one I used had a really harsh almost painful jetstream of water. The ADA shower stall seemed to have a more reasonable shower head. Clean restrooms. Many boat ramps and piers. read more

If I can search by Pokestop in Yelp, then I can review a really excellent Pokestop, I came home from London feeling pretty mug because of some of the Water Pokemon I got there. Then I learned about this location. At the end of the North jetty, there is a Pokestop that usually has a few cars parked around it. There is likely a lure running on it. After the lure is gone there is the waiting until someone caves and puts another one up. In the first hour, I picked up more water Pokemon than I had. It's also a Magikarp nest. You can easily get 8-10 in an evening. Oh yea. It's also a study in situational values. We paid for a year pass. Being able to get a senior pass, it's a good deal. We'll use the pass at other parks over the year as well. We'd show up early and go home for a later dinner. Every visit, at a certain time, lots of cars showed up. Wow, everyone must finish dinner and come here at the same time. Interesting. Then we left and figured it out. That's the time the cashier leaves and you are on the honor system to pay. Shall we say there is very little, to no, honor among those chasing Pokemon. read more

We stayed here for 5 nights in a r-pod trailer. The lake wasn't very inviting and after doing some research, found out that south of this park, there's a Lincoln Beach which was closed due to the dangerous levels of algae due to the lack of rain this summer. We still built sand castles and had a blast. Due to the temperatures being in the 100s, we bought a small pool for our daughter and we kept cool. The bathrooms were very clean and the showers were also. The only downfall with the showers were that there are no vents or windows so after you shower, you're sweating to the point you feel you need another shower. There's no temperature control for the water so no cold showers....just wipe yourself as fast as you can, put your clothes on and get outside to cool off. As many trailers that's stayed during our stay, you would think they could afford a vent...but I'm not management. Overall, we had a wonderful 4th of July weekend and got to see fireworks all around. There's a picnic table which is covered but would need more shade as there isn't much. We brought an extra canopy tent so we had enough shade. There's a gas station and a family dollar store nearby which was convenient. We would definitely go here again when it's a bit cooler. read more

Surprised to see the amount of litter and unkempt camping areas. Not what we were accustomed to at other Utah State Parks. Extremely hot in August with no trees for shade, but the campsites did have shade shelters. The campground is not situated next to the lake, but rather next to a bug-infested marsh! I wouldn't recommend this particular campground... especially in the heat of summer. read more

Beautiful area dry due to the heat wave but nice and clean and everyone is very friendly .the facilities and camp in sites are clean. The bugs and mesquitos are just not there this year. there is a grill with Great food and a snow cone stands leans for a good day on the sad to say shallow water. read more

I haven´t visited many places in Utah yet but one that I have enjoyed the most is the Utah Lake. My sister and I got there by accident actually. We were taking some pictures of her pregnancy near the lake and suddenly she remembered that there was a better place that we could use as a scenario. We walked for a few minutes and there it was, the beautiful view of the Utah Lake. I saw some other people enjoying of the lake by fishing and having a picnic. The atmosphere was so calming, you could hear the sound of the little waves which was so peaceful to me. Also, some ducks were swimming around. Definitely a place that you need to visit if you are looking for a space to relax. The best part? It was free. read more

Do not camp here. There are literally billions of some sort of yellow fly that invade as soon as the sun sets. The camp sites are beautiful but most are flooded and situated beside a marsh so you can't even see the lake. I tried to stay here in august. I hope there are other times of the year in which it is more tolerable. Such a shame because everything else about the place is beautiful. read more

Great location (lake access, river pathway access, Cottonwoods, cottonwoods oh my!), small cmpgrnd (20-30 spaces?), grassy lots, but oh my: Disgusting bathrooms and showers, bits of litter in the campground, glaring fluorescent lights on all night in (and outside) bathrooms/showers (bugs love that, camping humans don't! Went on busy 4th of July with a group of family boating. Our car entered first without the boat while the rest of the family behind us was towing the boat. We told the tenant we were going to boat and they had us pay a $15 entrance fee. When the rest of our group towing the boat got to the tenant they were told it was full and they were telling them to pull in and turn around and they could come back and see if they were letting more boats in an hour. We were then told we couldn't go boating from the rest of our family and went to leave but asked if we could have a refund since we couldn't do what we paid to do. The guy was really rude and and asked if I requested refunds for movies I didn't like at theaters. Then proceeded to say it was an entrance fee and I entered the park (as did our family with the boat, but they weren't charged) we BOTH turned around to leave. The man talked to the manager and still wouldn't give me a refund because I entered the park. We were maybe there 10 min total and I waited a good 15 min for this guy to talk down to me and ask his manager just to tell me there is nothing they could do. Horrible customer service. read more

To many mosquitos around 5-6 there are literally clouds of them. Also the guy that rents out jets ski's, boats, kayaking and other water stuff was very rude. Asked if he could help start the jet ski and he said in an annoyed way that "just put it in and fire it up", told him I don't know what that means and he said "I have to make calls it's going to be awhile." We rented for 2 hours eventually we got it started about 45min later, the fact that he never came to help was rude and that he didn't even send another person over. Wouldn't recommend. read more
