a glass of beer and a can of beer
    Mike S.

Worst dining experience me and my family have ever had. When asking about when our food would be ready, after 2 hours, we were told they "ran out of buns" and our food would be out in "5 minutes " but it wasn't. We asked as a courtesy for a beer to be taken off of our tab for the inconvenience. When further questioning about our food we were given excuses, then were threatened with being kicked out by the bartender. We paid our full bill to that point and left with us being treating as common street trash. I will never forgive your establishment for how we were treated and warned in coming patrons to leave so not to be treated as we were. This will be posted on all social media. We go out of our way to support small businesses but I refuse to be treated how we were by your staff. It was unacceptable. If I could give negative stars I would. Do better!

Gyro pizza on a gluten free crust! Wow! It's really good!

A bit confusing to navigate but everyone is super friendly and helpful. Food is great & vibe is unique- it's all old rail cars!

This is a neat place in the middle of nowhere. The pizza was great, the beer delicious and some different flavors.

I stopped here with my fiance, her family, and my mom the other night (26-SEP-17), it was probably their second or third night open. We ordered food from the depot menu and had a variety of in-house, and guest brews between the six of us. Everything was terrific! They have a small, appetizer-style menu at the brewery itself, but if you want more of a meal, you're able to order it, like I said, from the depot which is in another of the train cars on the property. I might have forgotten to mention, this brewery is in a train car! If you drive onto the property, it's the car that sits atop the hill, beyond everything else that's currently there. You can't miss it though, it's got a huge logo on the side of the car itself. Having a decent brewery this close to home is a dream come true. It's also a dream that my fiance and I will be revisiting frequently. While we were there, the service was excellent, the employees were all super friendly, and every product they put out, food or beverage, was top notch. We will return for sure.

Having a good time with family at Boxcar Brewery in DuBois, PA.

Fun atmosphere great food & beverage. Never would had thought to check it out but I'm glad I did.

Great little place with very good beer. They also have good cider and mead and a rum version of a mule.

It's next door to the hotel and when we went it wasn't so busy that we were ignored but they staff were certainly being kept on their toes (Father's Day weekend, graduations, hotel guests...). They have both indoor seating (complete with a bar if you'd like to sit there) and a really nice looking patio area. The food was fantastic. Our server was great too; she was really friendly and helpful with recommendations. I ordered the reuben sandwich, which was deeeelicious. The salmon was apparently wonderful too, from what my partner said. And I ordered the macaroni and cheese from the kids menu but it was huge. My baby loved it and since it was so huge there was too much for her, so I had the rest at a later time. They had a really good strawberry lemonade, of which we (my daughter and I, because of course she had to have some) drank several glasses. Our server even brought me a to-go cup of it because she said it looked like we were slowing down and may be near finishing. I didn't ask her to bring me a cup of it to go, and wouldn't have thought to ask, so I was very happy she brought it for the rest of our ride to Cleveland. But perhaps my favorite part of the meal were the appetizers. We ordered some macaroni and jalapeño bites which were a hit as far as myself and the little one were concerned, with not too much heat that she could enjoy them. The restaurant has a Brussels sprouts appetizer, but they do it as an "of the week" special. The week we were here it was inspired by elote, so it had some corn and cheese and stuff on it and they were so good. I love Brussels sprouts, and will happily try them prepared in a new way. As of June 2026, I think they are short staffed. Our food took a little longer than usual but that was ok; it gave us a chance to chat and relax. Just be patient if you visit in the near future since they are down an employee or two! But even with that, it was a pleasant evening, the staff were fantastic and helpful, and the food totally hit the spot.

I ate the nachos. This is not a one person meal, they are very large. I sat at the bar and the bartender was very prompt and personable. I also enjoyed the beer selection they had, not only on tap, but in bottles and cans. Inside the restaurant was clean and looked nice.

Small brewery's are common in Appalachia. Some have even turned into larger operations, over the…read moreyears. Names like Appalachian Beer Company and Lancaster Brewery come to mind. These places some excellent beer. But they also are restaurants. So, maybe beer is a draw in or the food at times. So with that, Drunk Monkey is a pure brewery. They make, sell, distribute, and promote their own product. As far as promoting, I am not sure they need to do much work as the product has really gotten some attention at the street level. I have seen the main beer showing up at local restaurants the last year. There has also been solid word of mouth. Some of their beers are even winning awards. So it didn't take much convincing from a coworker to get me there before our Nittany Lions came on. The brewery, itself, is a tiny place tucked into an old industrial park that use to be home to one of the largest textile mills in the country. Long abandoned, different smaller businesses now call the park home. One of the more sustained businesses is Fisher's bee farm. That brings us to the brewery. The owner of the bee farm decided to start a brewery near his business. Once finding the brewery, you notice that it is a whole in the wall kinda place. But once entering, the place is organized, clean, and the folks are extremely warm and friendly. Everything is clearly marked. Beer prices are payed out in a sheet on the wall. There is a merchandise rack clearly marked. There are cases clearly marked for type. You can tell this is a place where the people love and care about their beer. The lady manning the shop was knowledgable and friendly. She gave us a preview of the beers and described each one as we taste tested the taps. She then offered us a tour of the small brewery which we jumped on. This definitely plussed the experience and ultimately earned that fifth star. We learned that this particular young lady also hand labels, preps, and fills the bottles. So she does more than just look pretty selling the beer. Now for the beer. I really can't remember all the particular names of the beer. But I had a few favorites. In particular, the German wheat beer was fantastic. That is what I got my growler filled with. Some of the other beers that tasted great, Kraken and one named Mistress or something to that effect. Fittingly, the mistress had a tap handle in the shape of a ship figure head. Speaking of which, all the beers have nautical names based on the folklore of Captain Jack which many local landmarks are named. I have nothing negative to say about Drunk Monkey. They are in an obscure location. The place is small and doesn't look like much from the outside. But like most really great businesses, it is about the knowledge of the people behind the business. Drunk Monkey has plenty of that! If you are in the area on a Wednesday or Saturday, stop in for a taste.

I am a home-brewer and I couldn't stump her, not that I was trying to. When touring Victory, the guide there didn't know much and I wound up giving most of the tour. Straub is very small in size and operations but all employees we met and observed were very courteous and friendly. The endless taps were a nice touch to experience by letting guests sample from 3 varieties of brew. You were able to have 2 full sized cups, not a 4 ounce taster. In the bar/restaurant there were multiple choices of brews on tap or canned/bottled and a vast selection of mementos for the collectors. We didn't eat there as we had packed a picnic lunch for later, but the food we were smelling was very enticing. We want to return for one of the weekend parties they have in their courtyard. Take the time and visit, I don't think you'll be disappointed.
