In the emergency room, instead of following Stormont Vail's stated values, a physician told our family that we could "take our loved one elsewhere" if we didn't like something, rather than taking the time to answer questions, address concerns, or actively listen. That response alone speaks volumes. This facility has taken a noticeable dive and is not the Stormont it once was. When families are scared and advocating for their loved ones, dismissiveness is unacceptable. If you're given the same advice, take it. We recommend taking your loved ones to University of Kansas - St. Francis Campus, where care and communication would be markedly better. I could go on and on about this experience. When I have more time, I plan to return to this and share additional details. Until then swerve this place entirely.

Compared to my experience at Stormont Vail, the care here was significantly better more thorough, attentive, and patient-centered. What stood out most was that I was taken seriously. I sought a secondary opinion here, and the team didn't dismiss my concerns. Instead, they presented me with options including the choice between conservative outpatient care or being admitted for inpatient treatment. I appreciated being included in that decision-making process, and I chose inpatient treatment. That choice made a difference in my healing and peace of mind. The reason for four stars instead of five is simply because nothing is ever perfect and a few very minor, personal observations don't outweigh the overwhelmingly positive experience I've had here. They aren't even worth mentioning in detail because they would distract from the excellent clinical care I received. I'm grateful for the team that looked after me and helped me recover safely. I would absolutely recommend this hospital for anyone seeking quality, responsive care especially if you feel your concerns aren't being taken seriously elsewhere.

The actual Dr needs to learn how to interact with patients and listen to what is wrong with them. Explained husband's upper respiratory problem wasn't making much progress and needed examined. Made it clear that he is a cancer patient in remission. They did a basic exam and took vitals, said he needed an ER. Did not offer any meds or suggestions. When asked why, the reply was he needed chest x-ray and possibly blood tests. I asked why they couldn't do the procedures, as they have the capability. The reply was there was no staff on duty to perform the procedures, couldn't be done until the next morning at this location. We did not agree to visit an ER, so my husband had to sign that he was refusing treatment. What treatment was he refusing? They had done nothing but a simple exam and take vitals. Why is there not a full staff until closing time? Can they only treat sprains and give vaccinations?
