First off, know that this review is open and honest due to the overabundance of stays my mother has…read moreracked up over the years. With that being said, let's get it cracking. 1. The main entrance parking lot in itself although spacious, it tends to be full all the time. The handicap parking is sparse. they could stand to create more for people who have difficulties in walking or are wheelchair bound. The emergency parking lot is the biggest disappointment. There are only 3 handicap spaces and it is the smallest lot on the grounds. They need to make that lot bigger, especially since this lot has the most continuous traffic. 2. This hospital is clean and the layout is actually pretty simple and easy to manuver. You can easily find your way around. There are only 4 floors in this hospital, 1 cafteria, 1 coffee bar, 1 gift shop and one cancer treatment wing. They also have a donation shop called " Mario's closet" that has wigs and hats, make up and other trinkets and items for cancer patients. 3. The staff on the surface are friendly, quick to serve.and always lend help when needed. This is where the review has to sway differently because because each dr, nurse and employee of the hospital is personal and varies depending on the person. All nurses that I have spoken to are very nice, some are bubbly, others are simply nice. All have been helpful. There have been a few that go above the call of nursehood. Dr. Scarborough, Dr. Harms, Eddie the ER/RN, and a slew of nurses, and assistants have treated my mom like the princess she is. I wish I knew every name, but there are too many to keep track. 3. The cafeteria is spacious, kept sufficiently clean and the seating is comfortable. The food choices during the week are ok, not great, but enough to sustain life. The weekend however is so disappointing. First of all, the breakfast they serve is usually powdered eggs, bacon strips, sausage and biscuits and gravy. This may sound good, and during the week it may be, but on Sat and sun, the bacon will sit under heat lights until they are fried pencils and the sausage can grow legs and walk..and the eggs will be like foam. The worst part is you will be charged for each individual fried pencil and walking sausage at .89 cents and .79 cents. They do have a grill option for freshly made food, however the hours of operation are very weird and rare. And again, you will have a cow when you are charged $3.89 for a cheeseburger that is small enough to fit in one hand. Yep, the food is pricey and a lot of times you will have to ask how much something is, because most of the prices are not listed to which this works in their favor. Beware..this hospital food is a wallet drain. I know this review is long, but overall this hospital is ok. They do a fairly decent job of caring for their patients. Some things I would change, some I've learned to live with. Overall, this hospital is ok. They have to be for me to trust them with my mom

I don't write reviews, so you know it's bad. I've had to be…read morehere two times: 1. without disclosing too much I woke up in the hospital not knowing where I am with severe bruising and swelling on a lot of my body. I did not receive/was offered ibprofin, a iv, nurses dismissed me, and they told me "i'd have to free up the bed or they'd call security" 2. Had to come in to get treated for some things, ran some tests and told me everything was fine, still felt terrible, went to another hospital and was diagnosed with three different problems. Which means they a. lied about doing the testing or b. lied about the results or didn't care to check. I would be fearful if I had to come back here or any one of my family and friends. it's actually terrible.

If you have chest pain here - prepare to wait for hours - they do not have the usual…read morehospitalprotocol of rushing you in - so if you are having a heart attack - good luck - NO PROTOCOLS for chest pain adhered to. A travellign nurse expressed to us how shocked that we had to wait 3 hrs "you could have died in the waiting room" she said. Good place for scans and not much more. My other peeve is with billing. They send bills out with NO ACCT NUMBER- when you call or try to pay you need it - you end up in a never ending cycle ot calling and trying to pay - I still can't pay my bill - I have been on the phoen for 30 minutes trying to get to someone but hte robot runs me in circles. If you call the hospital they tell you to press pound and after 3 more calls I was still not able to get an acct rep - but it was for another facility - WORST AUTOMATED SYSTEM EVER. They also sent bills ot my ex husband for years and I keot telling them he no longer lives here, but they ignored it. This place is good for basic things and some of the travelling nurses are better than anything I have experienced in Manhattan. Prepare to wait for HOURS int he waiting room (even if it is empty!) and possibly die if you are nto brought in with an ambulance. One ambulance peopel get seen right away. AWFUL fro chest pain.

I had good care there several years ago following a motor vehicle accident which was not severe…read more There was no routine IV at that time. However, sometime later I went there for different problem which had a standing order for a routine IV. The person starting the IV was clearly unsure and nervous. She chose a very large needle to use on the back of my hand to start an IV. I asked her to use a smaller needle. She left the room. The nurse overseeing my care charged into my treatment room angrily. She was rude and a bully. She threatened to dismiss me from the ER if I "refused care." I needed care at that time and was afraid to leave. The first young woman blew a vein in my forearm which has remained swollen and blue to this day. I asked for a different staff member with more experience if possible. The second individual blew out a vein in my other forearm. Again, it is swollen and blue still today. That experience speaks for itself. When student phlebotomists are being used , patients ought to be informed of it and given the opportunity to choose an experienced and well-qualified professional.
