IMHO In the days prior to the pandemic, V Marketplace had many retail businesses and galleries on the first and second floors. Sadly, it now houses maybe three remaining businesses, Kollar Chocolates, V Wine Cellar, and Bottega restaurant. It is a shadow of its former self. We still go in and visit the remaining businesses and sometimes utilize the restrooms (situated outside the back entrance, and up the stairs to your left. You need a code now to enter.) Definitely visit Kollar Chocolates and V Wine Cellar! The grounds are still beautiful but quiet. Will we return? Of course, with hopes that it will one day revive. read more

Came in today to buy and smoke a cigar with my dad for his birthday. As soon as I walked in I was greeted with stares and attitude by one of the workers. The lady with the short hair and dress gave me a RBF when purchasing and when asking for the cigar cutter/matches. What happened to hello, how are you lmao. She quickly told me with a nice stern voice "I'll need those back" to me, she sounded like I was going to take their cheap cutters. I went to return them as soon as I cut and lit my cigar, and I was again greeted with an angry woman with cross arms acting like I was the reason for her 3rd divorce. Maybe she had a rough day or maybe bc I was a POC, who knows, but I'll prob won't be back unless I wanna see miss RBF again for laughs. Live Laugh Love read more

V Marketplace is a convenient stop in downtown Yountville if you need some time to unwind around meal times. It has a nice big parking lot shared with Bottega, and is right across the street from Bouchon Bakery. Inside you'll find lots of art galleries, boutique shops, and a few wine tasting rooms and famous Kollar's Chocolates. Like others mentioned, prices tend to be on the high side. Authentic Panama Hats and Fedoras can run $300 and up. Just last weak we bought a nice recycled paper hat at Oakland Art and Soul Fair for just $20! The one store with decent selection and prices seems to be A Little Romance. My wife got some colorful scarfs here while I got a purple purse with an embroidered cat face for my sister's early B-Day present. They also stock purses and wallets made from cork! This renewable material might be the next big thing as a leather substitute! No restrooms inside the marketplace. They have two public, unisex ones on the outside that are surprising clean! You'll also have to brave the lines at Bouchon Bakery for coffee, or head to Mini Model next door if you're early enough (they shut down at 3pm on weekends). read more

So pick up your last minute gifts before heading out -- and your weekend of pampering is through. First time coming here. I won't be back. I came here with a group of friends. It was a Friday afternoon, a couple groups outside but for the most part the entire place was empty with plenty of outside seating. We ordered wine and sat down at the table outside. It was a hot day and my friends wanted to enjoy a drink in the shade. During our brief stay, 2 separate times employees aggressively came by to ask us if we ordered drinks from the shop. Presumably they wanted to kick us out of the outdoor space. The wine glasses in our hands should have been clear. After showing them the wine glasses the employees apologized and went away. But the manager (guy with a dog) kept coming back to peek and see if we were gone. After like 20 minutes the manager decides to dump a big water bowl in the grass a couple feet behind where my friend was sitting and the water splashed on her. There's plenty of places nearby to dump water, far from other people, he opted to dump it right behind my friend. Very strange experience, possibly racist. I didn't see any of the other people getting harassed but we were also the only minorities there. Mr. Manager if you have an issue with paying customers sitting in your patio, talk to them. For sure don't peek around corners and dump water on them. Hopefully you can learn from this experience and treat all your customers equally. read more

Not quite sure what to think about the V Marketplace... on one hand, it's has gorgeous grounds that are great for picnicking. There are plenty of public bathrooms around and parking is super easy with their two parking lots. It's also near some of the best restaurants on the West Coast, and there's plenty of public art to see nearby on the walk. On the other hand, there isn't much to do inside of the V Marketplace as far as shopping. I'm disappointed there isn't more along the lines of culinary shopping or specialty shops related to food. It's mostly overpriced decorations and clothing for the 50+ community. However, there are some gems to V Marketplace, such as the art galleries. Who needs an art museum when you can stroll through the art galleries? I highly recommend checking out the different galleries and variety of paintings they have on the 1st floor - they range from paintings of SF, to still life, and some landscape paintings of the wineries. The people running them are friendly and don't hover around to see if you'll buy something (though it may be because I don't look like someone who will drop $2k on a oil canvas painting). Please be respectful of the art galleries and do not take pictures! I know it's tempting, but it's disrespect to the artists. The other gem here is Koller's Chocolate, which I like to stop by to admire the artistic quality of their chocolates (I wrote a separate review for them). At least this place has lots of Pokestops nearby. And they have tables outside for eating food that you bring, so it's a good place to chill while eating your Bouchon Bakery goods. read more

What is up?!?! NorCal is hotter than SoCal during my trip. I make Tri-annual trips to cool off but didn't achieve that on this trip. Napa was even more toastier ( yes, grammar nazis I am aware. But it's funner this way). So imagine how grateful I was to find this small shopping center. It is beautiful, it has variety, and,more importantly, it is air-conditioned! Also, finally, I got to see Micael Chiarello's Napa Style Store. There are plenty of benches to rest on and more than enough clean bathrooms. They have several beautiful spaces in he back perfect for weddings. They have a large lawn, with beautiful walls (no need to cover them up) and a gazebo. A long picturesque fountain can also be found outdoors. There is also a large tree-shaded patio adjacent to the restaurant, and the restaurant itself. This venue is very convenient and wedding-ready. There is a large parking lot tat appears to be available for free. read more

I loved this place once upon a time. I loved to wander the cobblestone halls and visit the kitchen shop, toy store, candle makers, and have a cone at the vintage ice cream shoppe. It had this darling, old world, charming sort of vibe. (as a girl I indulged in the fantasy that this was Sleeping Beauty's castle--I, of course, was Aurora in this particular fantasy) Though the building is still gorgeous, the vibe has changed. It is decidedly more yuppie (I know...I know...it's the Napa Valley, what does one expect?). It feels very disjointed. Where it had once seemed like a cohesive collection of local merchants--it's now home to shops that seem like they are barely storefronts but, rather, more focused on internet sales than customer service. I get it. There is money to be made selling unique Napa Valley chic to the world. How does that translate to the V Marketplace experience on a weekday afternoon? A ghost town. You'll wish you had thought to bring your very own customer service bell. Then you'll indulge in a fantastical version of yourself wandering the deserted halls ringing that bell--and, all of a sudden, the thought of bells will conjure images of The Hunchback of Notre Dame and you'll think, who am I in this scenario? And, you'll realize, you, my friend, are the hunchback. And, you'll wonder..have I had too much wine or not enough? Either way...meh. read more

This an interesting little marketplace to visit when stopping in Yountville. It does cater to those with money and probably an older crowd, but there a few gems in here that make it worthwhile to browse. There are a few galleries with works I've seen in San Francisco spaces and also include some glassware and jewelry on the higher end. If you're seeking high end kitchen ware, spices and condiments, there are also stores that will fill that need. Overall, the grounds are nice to stroll and just overall slow down and enjoy the fresh air and calmer pace up in Yountville. There are some clean restrooms as well, and a few places to get a bite to eat. If you're in town, this is a great central starting point with plenty of parking and some shops to browse. read more

Was in the area recently and decided to take a stroll over to V Marketplace since I always see it while driving by, but never have had the chance to see what is inside. Lots of shopping to do here, but get ready to bring quite a bit of cash as nothing really is on the cheap/affordable side. Although expensive, the quality of clothing, jewelry, artwork, etc. is very impressive and for the most part worth the price tag. I spent a few hours wandering around admiring the beautiful artwork and multiple wine inspired decor on display. Of course with all of this walking, one would be hungry after awhile, and this marketplace and its surrounding area do not disappoint when it comes to food. I ended up in the chocolate store downstairs which was fabulous, followed by the wine shop next door for a little pairing action. Now that I had some liquid courage, I took a stroll across the street and ate my way through the Bouchon Bakery and had finished up lunch at the Bouchon restaurant itself, which were fabulous (Reviews to follow)! I will admit that there was a nice restaurant next to the marketplace and many nearby and within, but I unfortunately had my eyes set on Thomas Kellers restaurant that day, so I am unable to really comment on many of the food options. To sum it up, if you are in the area and have some extra time, definitely stop by and stroll around and appreciate what V Marketplace has to offer, it is well worth it. read more

Very charming cobblestones shopping area with lots of small shops, arts and crafts, and wineries, of course. Little boutiques selling a wide variety of beverages and foods, small jewelry and clothing shops. Has a small town d feel, which of course, if any town is, it must be Yountville. Very quaint and adorable... worth checking out if you're in the area or passing through. It's not a destination stop and it didn't deign to be. read more

This place is a toss up. Some of the vendors are really cool, some are extraneous. But value is in the eye of the beholder. However I do know one thing, my friends dad who lives in Yountville knows EVERYONE here. he is straight up mafia. Yountville is often overlooked but shouldn't be. If you happen to be going to St. Helena you should take the exit and check this small town out. V Marketplace is a favorite shopping place. There's some cool stores inside. They have a toy store upstairs, and some clothing stores for the girlfriend to shop. I like buying wine there. They also have a great little chocolate shop inside. V Marketplace is one of those dead malls that's ironically in the culinary (and earthquake) center that is Yountville. It's surrounded by restaurants, including the famed French Laundry, along with wineries like Domaine Chandon, yet the place tends to be very quiet. Its highlights are Pacific Blues Cafe, the Michael Chiarello restaurant/store, and Kollar Chocolates. Other than that, this place is pretty dormant. Though Yountville set the Napa Valley shaking in 2000&2015, this place isn't exactly quaking with activity. Chorale's store/restaurant is the best place here, good for gifts. Other than that, everything is overpriced. read more

The building is beautifully covered by Boston Ivy. The place looks like an old barn and it smells like one too. The main entrance actually smells like chicken poo. So weird, the toilet is outside, it can't be the chocolate store, it can't be the winery, the cheese shop is far away, so where does the chicken stool smell came from? The stores are boring, the art galleries and the fashion stores are outdated. The only store that is interesting is Kollar chocolates and the only restaurant that you want to dine here is Bottega. read more

OKay I am deciding to write a review on the entire conglomerate of businesses in this building. It is safe to say that this place should be leveled solely based on almost all of the business owners attitudes towards life. But since we shouldn't be talking like that due to its historical footprint and the politics behind Yountville, we need to specifically call out those that are Rad businesses and poo poo the rest. READY? California and Vine - located on the top floor. The owner Michael is amazing! In my opinion could possibly be the only reason to walk up the stairs to the top levels of this building to shop. Shop only here for your wine/napa valley gadgets and fun items. Support this business then walk back downstairs and support the first floor. Hopefully The town manager will suggest nuking the entire top floor (save California and Vine) and get the retail world in yountville up to snuff. Side note: It seems that both these retail shops and the tasting rooms are being asked to carry alot of retail that is being doubled up. Can't the tasting rooms just sell wine and foodie things while the shops sell the stuff? just makes sense...Is the town behind the amount of retail being sold? weird that business owners would want to sell the same things... Anyways, the attitudes in the top floor of the shop owners was super bla and a "i am sorry can I help you?' kind of an attitude. Now if I was wearing a chicken suit - that response would make sense..I just wanted to shop but instead was brow beaten. First floor shops were awesome - and in my opinion the only reason this review is floating above 1 star. V wine Cellars needs to have happier more interested staff engaging their customers...other than that pretty good experiences. I won't be back ufortunately and am glad Botega and Napastyle are not technically connected as I will be going there....customer service based alone. read more

This past weekend, my fiance and I decided to drive down to Yountville and we came across the V Marketplace. It's a nice cute little place that has a lot of Art Galleries, Wine Shops, and Boutiques and it is 2 floors. The first little store we went to was an Art Gallery and the lady that was there was so kind and sweet. She wanted to give us all the information about the artist's pieces but sadly, we can't afford $1000 to $3000 piece for art. She is the only reason why I'm giving this place 3 stars. Then we went into this wine shop. No one even said hi to us or asked us if we need some help. I was like wtf? We had like $400 on us and we were prepared to buy. Then right before we left, this caucasian lady walks in and they said hi and asked her how she was doing and if she needed anything. I was in shock. It's not like the people didn't see us. Maybe they thought since we were black, we weren't going to buy or something.... So we both know that if we ever come back to the V Marketplace, don't go back to that wine shop that is near the front entrance to the left across for the Chocolate Shop. read more

This is a great place - but it could be so much more ! Right in the heart of Yountville - it is a good place to stop by, explore the area, the shops, buy wines or grab a bite. There are several shops to pick up art, souvenirs - but obviously are not cheap ! I wish there were some more shops showcasing more local art etc. During lunch time the restaurants there could get crowded. The wine shop is inside is the most useful I think. They have a good collection and have specials going on at least in the holidays. All in all, if you are in the area, worth a stop , but i would not come to this one specially. read more

The V Marketplace houses Michael Chiarello's Bottega, and that is the highlight of this marketplace. The only other notable stores, in my opinion, are the chocolate shop (which also sells gelato), and the wine shop, but the rest of the stores are too boutique-y for me. If you need fancy soaps or Panama style hats, this is a good place to stop by. Otherwise, you'll be able to walk through in 15-20 minutes. At least they have a huge parking lot for this center, and you can park here and walk across the street to Bouchon and Bouchon Bakery. read more

Like much of Yountville, Vintage 1870 has apparently been rebranded in recent years and is now known as "V Marketplace." I'm just going to be blunt about this for a minute, "Gez, what a stupid name!" Can you even go and rename a historical landmark like that? Regardless of what they call it, it will always be Vintage 1870 to me. Basically a rather shee shee shopping center, while I've never found much to personally purchase there, the place has a soft spot in my heart. I still miss the Toy Cellar, a very cool toy store that my mom used to take to me to as a kid. It had a great selection of dollhouse furniture and a model train that traversed a track that stretched around the store running just above patrons' heads. The store closed only a few years ago. Vintage 1870 is still home to an awesome ice cream shop! There is always a constant stream of folks in there. Next to it is a shoe store that will be hard for the Imelda Marcos in you to resist. There's also a pet boutique and a Christmas ornament shop that are a lot of fun. The place is a definitely worth a wander. Yountville, is the heart of Napa Valley! One of the great things I love about this town is you can walk everywhere, it truly evokes old world charm with modern amenities. We found this especially true when we visit the V Marketplace, formerly known as Vintage 1870. From the cobblestone walkways to the open ceilings all finished in the original style of the winery it once was, this little Marketplace was a great way to step back in history and spend some time and money! What did I buy? Well...homemade chocolates, cigars, a damn good cup of coffee, a housewarming gift (which is why I was there in the first place)-my friends really enjoyed the second level boutique shopping, which caters to both men and women of all ages-one friend bought a baby shower gift and was really impressed with the professional gift wrapping that was offered-FOR FREE! The interesting thing that I noticed was all of the businesses seemed to be owner/family operated and every store was occupied, which tells me, as a business person that something is being done right... you just don't see that anymore, the true mom and pop stores- it made for great conversations and a sense of caring that you just don't see anymore. We certainly enjoyed the first stop on the weekend visit to wine country! After waking up in the middle of the night to catch an early flight to San Fran, we arrived in Napa late morning, and hungry, and without any restaurants open for "lunch". What to do? Head to V Marketplace and enjoy a glass or two of wine! After the jet-lag and wine hits you, do some shopping in the adorable wine cellar theme shop. V Cellars particularly is where we camped out on the patio and enjoyed some Biale Black Chicken Zinfandel.
