Great cocktails - I had "The Vibe" was sooo good, also had N/A beers (my hubs had the Guinness NA and loved it.) Super friendly mixologist a (bartender) and server. She was super attentive and kind. Wish I would've caught their names. Snacks are great, I'm vegan so had the pretzel, hubs got the chip and dip - loved. Hubby and I are huge vinyl junkies (he's a DJ - "DJ Swift") so was fun going through their vinyl collection. This is a must when you're in the Napa hood! read more

Went here for the Heated Rivalry soundtrack listening party. The host was fun! We did trivia. The space was welcoming and funky, with an eclectic design. They have different events weekly. The food is not basic bar food! The chocolate chip cookie was giant and baked to order, and with sea salt on top! Perfection. The smoked trout dip, stone fruit salad, and ume mocktail was good. They have a bar, and then they have other seating with tables and couches. There's a record section if you want to shop. Old movies were playing on a tv in the back. There was even a DJ! Came here for drinks. Tried the Bahn-Mi--delicious with a spicy kick. Recommend. Also tried Teacup Masala. It was okay. Not my fave. Loved this spot and the vibes. We were trying to find something to do during the holiday break. I found this one and well, it's a record store-radio station-restaurant and bar! That checked all the boxes. We got there five minutes before opening which kind of startled the staff but we were allowed to browse the records. As soon as the bar/restaurant was open, I indulged in their happy hour menu. I will admit I liked the poblano tacos. It packs heat, but that's why there's cocktails. The carnitas taco was just as good. I would like to try other menu items on our next visit. By the time we left, the place was filling up. If we were staying overnight, I would definitely check it out for fun and games. read more

Came for a listening event but left soon after due to basically being ignored. We walked in a little late because I was coming from work and one of the employees saw us standing at the door but continued on as if we weren't there. There was trivia taking place so we walked up to ask for a sheet but she just handed us a poster for the event and shooed us away. We sat down to wait thinking there was going to be another activity afterwards but there was not and in the end, they passed out tote bags to participants. I was very excited for these as they were advertised online with purchase but when I asked how I can buy one, she stated "only trivia participants can get a tote." Poor advertising since online it stated tote bag gifted with purchase and they did not follow through. I even asked if there could be any exception since we weren't offered a trivia sheet but nothing. Didn't realize that you couldn't participate in a "listening event" if you didn't show up exactly on time. Even more upsetting is that before we left, we saw her bring the almost full box of tote bags to the back so there were definitely extras.. In addition, as we sat down, we could also see another employee checking in with every other table except us. We were not even offered or given the chance to look at their drinks or food. As a person of color in a very white space, it felt a lot like we were being excluded on purpose. It was not a nice feeling. The space felt very unwelcoming and I hope they don't treat other customers this way. I even browsed in their vinyl section because I didn't want to feel like my trip was an absolute waste, only to find that they had limited music at an upcharged price. Very disappointing. read more

Went in yesterday for the heated rilvary record day event. Was advertised online that we could purchase something and receive a free tote bag. But to our surprise was only given during trivia that wasnt advertised at all. knowing that we wouldve came in at the time of 5pm instead of indicating online that we were free to go from 5pm-6pm. Definitely miscommunication on the event as a whole. I wasnt even upset about it, what sucks is when I went to ask for clarification I was brushed off and told it was only for trivia even though I tried showing the advertisement. I was fully ready to buy a Vinyl or something to purchase to get the tote, unfortunate I wasnt given the opportunity like it was advertised online. read more

Basically.......record shop meets bar or vice versa. To be honest, I think I was more impressed with the bar than the record selection. Most of the records in the bins are new with some used ones sprinkled in. As someone who frequents record stores, I found the prices here to be higher than usual. The selection was just OK, but they did have a few collectibles posted on the wall. On the other hand, the bar itself is well appointed, open, well designed with a wide selection of alcohol to choose from. There is a small stage for a performer, and there's art for sale in the form of record art on the wall. It's definitely a nice place to grab a drink, but I came here looking for some records and left disappointed. It reminds me of someone trying to add their hobby to their business. Still worth a visit though, as the photos/video below attest. read more

My wife and I happened upon this record store/night spot when we were in town, looking for something to do after eating out, when we weren't quite ready to go back to our hotel room just yet. And let me tell you... Folklore was super cool. The mix of upbeat bar and record store was great and the DJ spinning records really added to the ambience. They had a ton of cool records to sift through, including lots of fairly modern releases, but also had quite a bit of older gems in the racks that were at floor level. We both found several albums we were excited about and had a hard time deciding which ones to get (which is a good thing). As with most of the record stores, I've been to, their pricing reflects the newfound popularity of vinyl, so don't be surprised to spend at least $20 per album on the treasures you find. The drink called "The Vibe" is absolutely a vibe. Went here on a Friday evening with my stepmom after stopping by the billiards spot next door, which was not her vibe at all. Since I went at night, it looked mostly like a chill spot that groups of friends go to enjoy some glasses of wine and hang for a bit. To the right, there is a record store, where you can have some fun "digging in the crates." They had a live DJ who was playing some house music when we were there. As it was Napa, the wine list was great but I can also vouch for the cocktails. I could tell the cocktail was made with some good strawberries, but the drink was balanced and not crazy sweet. The house made fruit roll up was a nice touch as well. read more

The record selection is incredible -- thoughtfully curated with everything from classics to hard-to-find gems -- and you can tell it's run by people who genuinely love music. The food is just as impressive, with a creative, fresh menu. The dishes use the highest quality ingredients, from cheeses and charcuterie to the baguette for the jamón sandwich. What really sets Folklore apart is the atmosphere they've built through their live music and community events. From intimate performances to fun gatherings, there's always something happening that makes the space feel vibrant and alive. Where else in Napa are you going to see a live performance from an amazing indie band like Suzzallo or attend a listening party for the latest Morrissey album! Unfortunately while passerby's visiting Napa would call this a cool/eclectic establishment due to its vinyl records and seemingly diverse music palate, myself and about 100+ people who attended a birthday party here in February experienced one of the worst handling of "large" crowds I've seen in my 20+ year History of the Bay Area music scene. As soon as we approached the venue, there was a long line of people waiting to get inside. We arrived a bit later (around 8pm), and the crowd had already started to fill the venue. Mind you, it's a decent sized venue but not a massive space -- enough to accommodate at minimum 100 and likely max of 200 while still staying within code. There were several people coming in and out of the door, where the GM and bouncer for the night , appeared extremely stressed due to the amount of people in line and inside. A woman, who happened to be the wife of the DJ, stepped out to make a phone call and when she attempted to get back inside, proceeded to get yelled at by the bouncer saying she needed to go to the back of the line and wait like everyone else. The woman attempted to tell the bouncer her husband, who was the guest DJ for the night and is a historical, world renowned DJ (again using big names to draw crowds, and appropriating vinyl culture, but not respecting the very people in attendance), needed to tell him she'd be outside and would sit in the car. The GM started to yell and disrespect the DJs wife, and she ended up staying outside. Apparently this GM and venue are not used to larger crowds, and she essentially cracked under pressure. She went on to tell us the capacity was 67, and that they "were already at 200", which is a lie because there was a ton of space between people inside the venue (we have photos to prove it). She kept yelling and pushing people back. Girlfriend, this was not a Vegas club night. This crowd is 40+ (age) crowd, so it's not like people were out of control and acting debaucherous -- everyone was respecting the rules. If you couldn't handle the crowd, which btw you agreed prior to the 80-100 people expected for the party, then why was it such a hassle for your venue to handle the capacity. You knew a larger crowd was expected that night, it's your responsibility as a business owner to adequately staff the bar, door, etc. Yes; we needed to respect the door and the rules -- and everyone did. I won't get into further detail, but a physical altercation took place after the woman tried to return a second time (to again get her husband and tell him what was going on given she was being harassed at the door), putting hands on her in the process. Just completely out of line. Overall, this venue wants to appropriate the music and DJ culture, yet when the actual music and DJ community show up, there is no respect. Let alone for loyal patrons who have frequented your business and brought tons of revenue to the bar that night (which btw was extremely slow). Don't fall for the dog and pony show here. Go somewhere else that touts respects for their patrons, and for all walks of life -- not just the pretentious kind. read more

In town for BottleRock and we saw a few posters around promoting brunch at Folklore... Saturday morning we decided to roll on through and check it out and I am so glad we did!!!! Don't know what I was expecting but walking in and seeing half a record store split with a nice old school dark wood style seating and full bar was a happy surprise! They were playing great music!! The staff was super friendly. A wine list that went on for miles. Food was limited but everything on the one page food menu looked delicious. We got the quiche and French ham sandwhich. The fresh potato chips with the sandwhich were so good, I highly recommend asking for the Dijon mustard. I would for sure come back here next time I visit Napa. They have a drag show tomorrow (Sunday) and it seems like it might be a regular thing. read more

Folklore is a happening downtown Napa spot. They have an extensive wine list, beer and cocktails. We met friends there and had some drinks, we had a charcuterie board, warm nuts, and olives dish. Everything was delicious. The music was booming and the energy was alive. We were the oldest people there. I loved that they are family owned , they DJ their own music and you can buy records. The feel was like being in Berkeley, Portland or a college town. We really enjoyed it and it was a great meeting place. read more

We visited Folklore a few weeks ago looking for vinyl records and discovered an interesting eclectic cafe and bar: nice atmosphere. The food menu looks good and varied, more expanded then the usual bar food at other venues. The drinks menu is also large. Having just had lunch at the Tap House in Benicia, we weren't ready for food or drink, but will return hungry someday for lunch. As life long music lovers and vinyl records collectors, we were greatly disappointed in the records offering. With the exception of a small collection of show tunes and a dribble of classical music, all genres of music are jumbled together and arranged alphabetically. Serious record sellers have genres of music separated and arranged alphabetically for patrons to select and buy the music they want without hassle and wasting time. Our conclusion is the record offering is just a side hustle or hobby. It's certainly not a collection for serious record collectors. read more

I've been a customer here multiple times and have always really enjoyed my visits. Their whiskey selection is top-notch, and on one occasion, I was even offered a complimentary chocolate chip cookie. I've dined at the bar before, and DJ, one of the staff members, has always been outstanding. Recently, I stopped by again to browse and briefly used the restroom. While I was still looking around, the owner approached me and, rather abruptly, assumed that my friends and I were only there to use the restroom and leave. She reminded me that their restrooms aren't public, even though I was clearly still browsing and had every intention of making a purchase. I explained that I've been a customer before and that I know DJ. She kept questioning me, repeating "Are you sure?" as if I was making it up. Then she suggested that I go and greet DJ as if she was calling my bluff. So I did just that. I greeted DJ, and he shook my hand, clearly recognizing me from previous visits. The whole interaction felt really unprofessional and off-putting by the owner/manager It's unfortunate to feel so unwelcome in a place I've genuinely enjoyed in the past. I wanted to keep browsing and purchase something, but after that I just left. I'm now second-guessing whether I want to return, especially after being treated as if I didn't belong. *Update* Owner responded to my google review stating that she only observed my friends and I walking in and using the bathroom only. Which is false. We made it our priority to browse her selection and she even said "excuse me" to get by my friends and I. Then she states that my friends were just waiting around not doing anything when they were simply admiring the atmosphere and decorations. Keep in mind we were only in there for like 10 minutes before we felt unwelcome and left. If she thought we were using her place as a rest stop, she could've simply asked and done her due diligence. But her interaction and tone with me just showed that she assumed we were already up to no good. read more

What a vibe! It's a cafe and record store in one, with tall ceilings that carry dynamic sounds of music throughout the space. We stopped by for brunch on a Saturday, and the menu was refreshingly eclectic, ranging from vegan or pork Pozole Verde, to Jambon Beurre, two types of quiche, tartine, skillets. And if you're a fan of a lengthy drink list, and specialty cocktails, you will hit the jackpot here. There's bar seating and about 13 tables. And tomorrow, Sunday, they have a drag brunch (gasp!). A pretty cool spot - cocktails, food, vinyl records, books, and more! We stopped in before a show at the Uptown Theater down the block and snagged a table. Lots of regulars here, but a good percentage of apparent first timers as well. We settled into some cocktails (wine and a whiskey sour) and ordered some dessert (the burnt miso cake). Even though it was busy, service was fast and efficient. Our empty wine glass disappeared sometime during processing of our check (we never saw the pickup) and we had multiple people check on us to see if we needed anything else or if we were missing anything. The bartenders offer the best service and we feel at home here! EXCEPTIONAL SERVICE! Nowhere else can you browse a fine collection of music albums and perhaps make a purchase too and then go sitdown at the bar or table and sip on a fine cocktail or two! There is always vinyl playing, records run the gamut from grunge to motown to modern pop to metal and more. They have amazing cocktails, solid wine and beer list, and delicious food options. Stopped in for some cocktails and this place was perfect. They had a million different delicious and unique drinks on their menu, also offer food but we did not order any since we were attending meat carnival later that night. Corpse reviver was my absolute favorite cocktail I tried, so citrusy and the perfect amount of alcohol flavor in my opinion. Bartender was lovely. A women (possibly owner or manager) asked if we'd like a small snack and we said yes since we were a teeny bit hungry, she brought us some beautiful bread with fresh ricotta and luxurious olive oil drizzled over top and wow what a perfect little complimentary appetizer!
