Everyone I know who has been there and all who work are empathetic caring people. I don't know any I don't trust. It is one of the top VA hospitals in the country. That's why ICE has been harassing them. The current regime and ICE are the opposite. read more

Im not sure which department is more jacked up. Primary care saying that toxic mold is not common thus the va doesnt test for it (yet we reside in a temperate rainforest). Or mental health completely disregarding a diagnosis (adhd) from an outside facility (because the va doesnt test for adhd) then stated that they want to do their own diagnosis...after I got the diagnosis from the company they ordered and are now denying me (100% disabled combat veteran) care. My husband has been going to this VA frequently for cancer treatments and other. Everyone is incredibly nice and friendly. even the employees we meet in the hallway always have a friendly word. The care received has been excellent. His doctor and the nurses have covered everything and answered all our questions. I have never seen better care at any other medical facility than at the Asheville VA Medical Center! read more

Update: A few years back- maybe like two- our friend had to be admitted for surgery. The hospital was very understanding about the fact that we were friends supporting our friend, as he is a divorced gentleman without a spouse in his life to aid him. The nurses answered our questions, kept us up to date, and were very kind. My dad considered going back to this hospital when he got cancer, but he did not. I wish he had. He may have lived longer. Our friend is doing great and I strongly endorse this hospital. read more

This VA is awesome including the surgery, dental care, eye care and primary doctors. I have health care which is better than I had with places like Duke and other when using the private care system. The employees including all staff are fabulous and go out of their way to help with any issue or concern. There is a great vibe there. One can easily tell the staff love their jobs. I suspect the management sets the tone for this facility and it makes all the difference. I have used other VA facilities before but this one is by far the best. Huge facility treating veterans in the area. It's always clean, plenty of seating in the waiting rooms, and the staff is generally courteous, helpful, and friendly . Loads of parking and even a shuttle bus to drive from the lot to the door. There is a Starbucks near the entrance, and a cafeteria. Plenty of ER services and even a nursing home! read more

The care provided at Charles George is, in my opinion, better than care available in the civilian sector. Appointments are almost always on-time and when seen doctors spend as much time as is necessary. read more

Some may complain about the VA, but over all CGVAMC is a great place had great Doctor's, Primary Care is awesome and they have the best Mental Health Care in the SouthEast!!! The pharmacy you have to wait along time, sometimes but hey it's free!!!! And a tip don't forget your travel pay!!! read more

I know there are so many VA's that have had trouble, I have to give ours a shout out for being so good. I have personally experienced a few other facilities, each doing what they could with what they had. I am greatful for each. However, The Charles George Center stands above the rest from the moment you enter the property. The grounds are very well kept, and the valet service for those who need it is more professional that many high priced places. The inside is designed with ease of movement in mind, and the walls of honor and displays give the familiar feeling of belonging only vetz understand. The scheduling is easy, efficient, and hassle free. The medical care is more thorough and respectful than any civilian facility. The entire treatment team conveys respect and compassion. I urge any fellow vets who need any type of care to use the benefit you earned, trust in it and get signed up. read more

Went to the ER on 10/31/22. Flu, RSV or covid symptoms. I was not tested for anything! Pushed out the door after twenty minutes. Given inhaler and steroid, no antibiotics. Fourteen days later I tried to call my primary four times with no luck. Finally spoke to a nurse and was advised to dial 911 and go to the hospital. After being tested and treated I was given an RSV diagnosis and prescription for antibiotics. I guess ER doctor wanted to go home as this was 6:00 am. Now VA has to pay the bill. read more

After an ER experience where my husband is sent home with a wrist splint for an index finger injury...because "that's all they have" at least the RN took the left hand back and gave him a right hand one. Told would be "better in 2 days"! We saw an outside specialist the following day, since they misdiagnosed and mistreated him...and it needs surgery....the index finger, since that was the injury not his wrist! How can this be happening? It was like the twilight zone, everyone smiling as they misdiagnos and send you packing. They also took an X-ray...it was never shown to us, the "Doctor" had absolutely NO Identification on his person, so maybe it was a patient pretending to be an MD... I'm heartbroken for my husband who faithfully served our country and the VA could honestly not care any less than they do. Also overheard an employee TRASHING the President of the United States, I find it appalling! read more

The Charles George Medical Center is Great.I have been to other VA facilities.This one was worth the move here just to know they will care for me.My every need was promptly addressed.I have never experienced better care.Those that complain have an attitude before entering and could not be pleased with anything.They have no basis for their complaints.I have found only qualified, caring people at this facility. read more

I began working at the Center back in July so now I can say the patients are happy with the service rendered. There is a Starbucks, cafeteria with good fried fish. A nice canteen selling quality merchendice at discounted priced to Vets. So many of the workers are extremely friendly, helpful and they care a lot about the veterans. With a mountainous back drop it is a picturesque facility. I may not write an essay or short story as my review because i am short and to the point. read more
