What are the reputations of the gastrointerologists?

My husband and I met with a gastroenterologist this week to see about removing his gallbladder after he just had surgery by an endocrinologist to remove a gallstone from his bile duct. We had a great visit with Dr. Khalil who explained the pros and…

The care provided at Charles George is, in my opinion, better than care available in the civilian sector.

Got my left palm and on top of my wrist also. It's now Saturday morning and Theyre going to hold me until Monday. Everyone here has been really nice. Brandon and Evelyn (I think) are my Physical Therapists. They've been by a few times. They helped me to get up on my feet to use the restroom for the first time. The nurses Cynthia and Chris have been great. Chris helped change out my bandages with Dr Schurr today and came back and changed out my right knee bandages and got me back into compression socks again. Cyndi helped me get back into the restroom last night and Lana has been so helpful every day. Lana comes in and tries to make my life better. I appreciate her kindness. The girl that cleans my room each day is so sweet . She asks me each day if there's anything she can do to make my room even better. The girls they come and take my blood on the middle of the night are always fast, friendly , and they are in and out. They find the vein and do their thing so professionally. The girls and guys that bring me breakfast, lunch , and dinner are very efficient at getting you your meals and the meals are so delicious. Just the right amount of food. They bring Milk, OJ, Sweet Tea, Ensure drinks , Fruit. Fruit cups, Jello. Yeah,, everyone has to have jello when You're resting after surgery. After dinner, you can ask for a Crusteez Peanut butter / Jelly sandwich, Turkey sandwich , Jello Pudding, Chicken Soup, Turkey soup , crackers and other items. When you check in there's free Valet in front and you enter to the front desk and they get your ID and medical cards and you can sit in their waiting lounge where there are different types of chairs from chairs , sofas, recliners and a girl came quickly and found me. She had me follow her to the check-in for a Pre-Operation. They take you to your own room and you get to undress and change into their operation clothes You get wheeled on a bed into the Operating Room where the Anastegialogist has you breath into a mask until you're in LA LA LAND !!!!

Im having spinal surgery this mouth on My L3 L4 L5 S1 this…read morewill be my second spinal surgery. I woke up this morning in severe pain called the treage nurse. The nurse told me to go to the Asheville VA Medical Center ER to be seen because of my level of pain. I was in so much pain I wasn't able to walk to the ER I was wheel chaired to the front entrance after arriving. I waited forty five minutes to be seen. When I saw the doctor he looked at me and said, " I don't know what to do foryou." I was shocked. I have never had a doctor say those words to me. Joking, or not joking, and he wasn't joking? He was serious. I had been to the ER 10 days ago, for the same thing, my pain level is through the roof can't sleep. I can't sit in a chair. I can't walk it off. It just will not go away.So I went to the ER like I was told to do by the nurse, I found absolutely knowrelief. The doctor gave me a shot of 60 mg, the baseline for minor pain. Mine is an eight I asked them to give me at least eighty and they refused. You go to a doctor expecting to get some sort of comfort, not just physically but maybe emotionally I left feeling completely hopeless. So, until my surgery I have to put up with this pain it's not just the physical pain, but the emotional stress its causing me. Our system is broken. It's just that simple so we suffer. .

They have a habit of over medicating their patients within different departments. The only department that I can complain about was a NP in Gastroenterology starting with a "P". You do the math. They were very forceful and inpatient with patients by making unprofessional comments, and just overall an unpleasant communicating demeanor. A complaint was made to the department. There are also some great MD as well there, they do their best and their ER department is good.

Wait time was only about 15 minutes to see the assistant and another 15 to see the doctor/nurse. Doc took a look in my mouth, took maybe 15 seconds to go "yep that's an infected tooth there." She left for another 10 minutes, came back with an itemized list of instructions and my prescriptions were already faxed to my pharmacy. Entire visit was maybe an hour at most, plus it's all the same medical group as my psychiatrist, so insurance and check-in was easy.

I'm not trying to belittle anyone's job but can you please explain to me how hard it is to take someone's ID and insurance...enter their information into a computer...and COMPLETELY FORGET to give the patent back their ID and insurance card? Maybe I should have prefaced my previous paragraph with the fact that I was the only patient in the waiting room upon my arrival... phones were not ringing... it was very quiet except for the TV playing Good Morning America in the background. Not only that, I sat back down for about 5 minutes (until I was called to the back) where I spent an additional 20-25 minutes with the doctor and the radiographer taking X-rays of my chest. At any point in that time frame someone from the front desk could have brought my credentials back to me (or given them to someone in the back that could have made sure I got them)... or even just told them to remind me not to forget to get my credentials on my way out. That didn't happen. What happens is I drive 17 miles back to my side of town and then I receive a phone call saying that I forgot my credentials instead of I'm sorry I forgot to give you back your credentials and that I would need to come pick them up. Now I have to drive 30+ more miles because of your incompetence and lack of due diligence . What was even more surprising is when I returned to the facility, a different employee recognized me and knew why I was there...reached into a drawer and flipped through two or three envelopes that had other patients names written on them.... BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T GET THEIR IDs BACK EITHER. I would like to know what's going on ? Are the employees taking your personal information and using it somehow... possibly giving it to some friends who can use it for nefarious reasons? People don't think anymore!!! I know it sounds stupid to some people, but forgetting to give me my credentials back and forcing me to have to take another trip on the road not only puts wear and tear on my car but it also puts me in position of having a potential accident (whether it be my fault or not).

I knew I should have looked for a new provider then. I have now been a patient for 13 years and was told recently it was a policy that I was unable to schedule an appointment without paying $50.00 since I was self pay. When I expressed frustration about this I was then banned from making an appointment.. I even called to apologize for being upset and said I would pay whatever I needed to in order to schedule an appointment ( its hard to find a new provider). I was then told I was banned from scheduling and could leave a message from the office manager. I have left several messages each weeks apart and no one will return my calls. Every week I call back and get the same run around. I even called the nurse triage to make sure I have a bridge prescription for my two medications I am prescribed and they will not call me back either. The negligence is unheard of. I have been dealing with this for the past month. Please do yourself a favor and do not use this practice. I have never been treated so terribly by multiple different office staff.

I got a call a week ago to confirm my appointment. I called them back the same day to confirm the appointment details because it wasn't on my calendar for the same time - confirmed the information and hung up. Called back 5 mins later to confirm the address/location, since I noticed on their website that they had multiple locations. I showed up today to the appointment, having driven 40 minutes from Hendersonville on a Monday morning, only to be told "looks like your appointment was cancelled by the patient on the phone". I know the miscommunication wasn't on my end because I clearly called back to confirm the location and had spoken to the same person - typically people don't do that when cancelling an appointment, do they? No accountability or willingness to do anything on their end except schedule me out for another few months. I now wasted valuable time and have to wait more months for another appointment. I am probably going to see if I can find a better place between now and then because of this disappointing experience. Maybe their doctors are good, but an incompetent front desk that costs me time (and therefore money) is something I cannot tolerate. I'm sure they'd still charge me per their "cancellation and missed appointment policy" if I missed a scheduled appointment - it should go both ways, unless they think their time is more important than their patients.
