Here it is: Shorelands 44-2 | Condo in Kennebunk Despite having charming photos and even looking "nice" inside; our trip here was a nightmare from start to finish. First, the electronic lock on the door wasnt functioning and we were stuck out in the dark waiting for vacasa to give us access via a hide a key. However, even that key didn't work well and kept getting stuck in the door. One appeal of this property was it's "dog friendly" policy. This enabled us to bring our dog (great right?l. Not really. My friend spent the first evening wiping urine off the baseboards left by a previous tenant. We called Vacasa and they said they would notify the property manager about the urine on the walls and the leaking air conditioner. Yes, the AC couldn't be used without creating water damage on the furniture below it so we opted to keep it off. We really thought our problems would be resolved, but they were not. Our final straw was when we discovered the powerful odor of human urine in the shower. Absolutely foul. Best part? We were expected to stay on the property if we wanted "any kind of refund". I told them I was still in possession of the cottage then went and spent 700 dollars on a hotel for our last two nights. We were reimbursed a measely 163 and vacasa denied that any of the damage we noticed was real. Vacasa will gaslight you if things go wrong. Do not book with them at ANY rental there is available. This was a lovely house as shown in the pictures and the amenities offered were a draw for our family reunion in North Lake Tahoe. The house itself was clean and spacious. What was terribly disappointing was the availability of the amenities that had drawn us to this choice. When we arrived we planned to use the grill for our dinner. We were surprised to see that it was locked closed with a bicycle lock. Not locked to the deck...actually locked closed. It took us 45 minutes to obtain the code to unlock it so that we could use it. None of the managers available seemed to know the code and much calling around to many people finally revealed it. Later on in the visit we went to use the hot tub. When it was opened we found the water green, scum on the walls and slimy seats. Disgusting and so disappointing! Later that day we went to use the grill again and almost immediately ran out of propane. When I called to see if we could obtain another tank the person texting with me insisted that the grill was somehow linked to the gas fireplace. Clearly this wasn't the case. No new propane could be obtained on the Saturday night so we cooked on the stovetop. Sadly when we tried to keep the smoke level down with the overhead vent we discovered that it didn't work. I blame the managing agent, Vacasa for these inconveniences. Clearly this is a giant organization with many layers and no great communication between them. When we got the rental bill I was shocked to realize that the fees (minuses taxes) amounted to 66.8% of the house fee. Vacasa offered us a 3.6% refund for our lost amenities but when I requested a more reasonable refund they declined and refused to allow me to communicate with the local property manager. The email exchanges about this request involved 4 different people. After doing a little research it seems that this managing company is the largest rental management entity in the business. How sad that they are so incompetent! Or perhaps they have no motivation to do better. From now on when I am searching on VRBO or AirBNB I will attempt to avoid any properties that are managed by Vacasa! When I looked back at the property management agent it was listed as Tahoe Exclusive Vacation Rentals. I guess a little digging might save one some angst. read more

Our recent stay at a Vacasa Sea Breeze Cottage in Westport, Maine was simply terrible. I am not picky & I don't need new and updated. I went for the view. But I do expect to feel safe and have healthy air to breathe and have it basically clean. This was none of the above. The MOLD smell was OVERWHELMING. We had to keep the sliding glass doors open the entire day. But at night there is no option for that. Felt so incredibly unsafe! The Back door had a RIGGED handle that had been scratched up as if it had been pried open. Vacasa did not care that it was unsafe, or that the fans were filthy or mattresses stained and gross or that windows were so etched and fogged that you couldn't enjoy the one single good thing about this place- the view. So disappointed! We left at sunrise the next morning and skipped the rest of our stay there. read more

One star is too high of a rating for Vacasa. My family stayed in a home in Rockport, MA on Pointe De Chene Ave in late July and it was horrific. We were there for a week. The house was filthy, who wants to deep clean a house when you and your family are supposed to be on vacation? We had made it known immediately that the house was disgusting, and we received no return contact from customer service. Crumbs on furniture, more cobwebs than you could count, filthy floors covered in dog hair. We literally had to vacuum the entire house and lysol every single surface due to the filth. We had previously stayed in this home two years prior and had to clean, but it wasn't nearly as bad as this last stay. There were also the same exact tablecloths from when we had stayed in the home two years ago... gross. We went out and bought tablecloths (which we threw away when we left). There was outdated and broken furniture which resulted in a few of my family members falling over, thankfully without injury. Additionally, we had the fire alarms go off in the middle of the night TWICE. The first time was at 1:30AM on Tuesday, we received no return contact from customer service. Then on Thursday, the fire alarms went off at 2AM, 4AM, and 7AM. Mind you, we had two children under a year old trying to sleep. We had to contact the Rockport Fire Department TWICE regarding this to try and resolve the issue. Customer service did NOTHING until the Fire Chief threatened to deem the home unsafe. That's right... customer service DID NOT CARE until the Fire Chief said if Vacasa did not correct the issue by 4PM, he was going to SHUT THE HOUSE DOWN AND DEEM IT UNSAFE. He also said if he had to shut the house down, then Vacasa was going to pay for our family to stay elsewhere.... oop... now they care about our safety. Also the basement was locked and the fire department couldn't do a complete assessment of the home to ensure that nothing was causing the alarms to go off.... My sister tried leaving a review on Vacasa's listing for this home and we just found out today it still has yet to be posted.... but amazing 5 star reviews from August have been posted.... interesting. They definitely deleted my sister's review due to their absolute negligence of the house and our family's safety. I could go on for days about my dissatisfaction. I will NEVER be renting from Vacasa again. I'd give a Five Star Review to the local fire chief though and the two firefighters who came both times to assess the home!! read more

buyer beware!! they don't deserve the one star! this comany is a scam. worst customer service ever!, lack of sympathy, long call holds just to get the run around on the misleading information they post. shame on airbnb and vrbo for letting them use their platforms for reservations. vrbo was of no help either and if you book a vacasa rental you are 100% at their mercy. always verify that you are booking an airbnb or vrbo managed property. their policy information is dishonest. false advertising. bait & switch tactics. poor management. their future stay credit ("fsc") policy is only issued in very rare instances (tornado, hurricanes, "acts of god"), although that is not outlined in their advertisement. never book with vacasa! read more

Renter be warned! Unfortunately, this was the worst property management service we've ever experienced. The worst part was the complete lack of response/support from Vacasa during our stay. The main issues were 1.) The back sliding door had a BROKEN LOCK making it possible for an intruder to enter the home at any time, putting our safety at risk. 2.) The A/C unit in the downstairs bedroom was covered in MOLD, putting our health at risk. 3.) The dryer was stuffed full of 3 loads worth of towels and sheets when we arrived. Because it was overloaded, it didn't dry thoroughly so we had to rewash, dry and fold it, which was obviously an inconvenience. We contacted VACASA daily seeking support/resolution and they told us everyday that we'd be contacted by the "local team"; however we didn't get a response until our last day in the house (5 day rental). We'll never rent from Vacasa again and felt it was important to make others aware of their outrageous business practices. You deserve better on your vacation! read more
