My husband and I were elated. The owners were wonderful and we had a relaxing stay in their beautiful home. We were greeted by Larry in the morning for breakfast, who prepared some delicious blueberry pancakes for us and we enjoyed great conversation with he and his wife and the rest of the B&B guests. Couldn't have asked for a better stay for our first trip to Martha's Vineyard. We'll be back!

My sister…read moreand I wanted to celebrate our anniversary (July 16 and July 17) and decided to comeback to MV after being away for a number of years. I asked my sister to look for a place for the four of us and she picked the Beachfront Inn. I was a little skeptical because our travel tastes are different. I like luxury and she is more economy. That being said all four of us LOVED our stay. I believe the innkeeper was Stan and he was a delight. My husband and I stayed in the biggest room with the en-suite and we did not need to concern ourselves with the lack of AC because the ocean breeze was amazing. I loved the location, we were on the beach and could walk from the ferry and to Circuit Avenue. The innkeeper makes the difference at any bed&breakfast and Stan made us feel like we were literally at home. We enjoyed our stay so much when we looked to book a place for guests to stay for our 25th anniversary, he was our first call. I saw the negative reviews and couldn't hold back my review so that's why I'm writing after all these years. As a matter of fact I am writing this while sitting on the beach in front of the Beachfront Inn and telling my friends what a nice place it is. So I am not sure about the negative reviews but that was certainly not the experience of four people from NYC. Hopefully, you'll give them a try.

I do not like lots of flowers and lace so this was nice for me. I stayed in the Apricot room, and it was clean, light, and airy, with minimal lace. (It was kind of pinkish, but then again, it was the apricot room.) -Ceilings are high and while the smaller rooms are small, they're not cramped, and the high ceilings kind of make you feel like you're in a treehouse. I loved that feeling. -There is wifi. -The owners and everyone staffing the B&B were very nice, warm, and welcoming. I have stayed at some B&Bs were it was just kind of awkward, and this one was not like that. They were genuinely pleasant. -They make it clear on the website that the rooms don't have AC, but do have fans. Honestly, we barely needed the fans-- the house stays fairly cool, and so did our room, even though we were on the second floor. -My parents were there at the same time we were, and their room had a little balcony overlooking the beach, which was awesome. -The beds were EXTREMELY comfortable. Definitely as good as top of the line hotels that I have stayed in. And a ton better than many budget hotels. It also happens to be better than my own bed, although that may just say more about my own place. CONS: -It's an old house. Floors creak, walls are thin, etc. If you're the kind of person who avoids rooms near the elevator in a standard hotel, beware. You will hear people walking around periodically. It didn't bother me, but I thought it was worth mentioning. -I would describe the style of the house (not the rooms) as older. Not kitchy in the way that someone deliberately tried to make things overly floral, but in the way that it's full of older pieces and antiques from someone's life. Not my style, but I made good use of the rocking chairs on the front porch and was quite content that way. -Breakfast is not full style breakfast, but continental (toast, jam, tea, etc). Again, this is something that's clear on the website, but if you're looking for the traditional hot breakfast of many B&Bs, this is not your place.

It's on the main drag so people will walk by. A fun place to be. Across the street is the sweet life restaurant, nice place to eat. We stayed in one of the carriage house rooms on the bottom floor, there are two bedrooms, which are very similar. One has a queen bed and the other has two double beds. Our friends stayed next-door. The room was good, I probably was expecting it to be a little bit more polished. The appointments were really nice, everything worked fine. But a few minor things like the bathroom door wouldn't shut properly, one of the sinks wasn't working just right. Not sure exactly how to put a finger on it, but felt a little underwhelmed when entering the room. However, in saying that, I slept like a baby every night in the perfect bed and mattress. The room did the job in terms of comfort, and a nice shower, and Right next to the main house, I would recommend staying here. Definitely recommend it if you're looking to stay in Oak Bluffs, and want to be right in the middle of the action!

The seasonal tone to the menu was a very nice touch. We needed tables, linens, utensils and she did not miss a beat. Everything was orchestrated with such ease and she really stepped up to the plate when our head count went from 20-30, with only a couple hours notice. Abby of 1720 House has questionable ethics…read more I made a reservation by phone for my 82 year old mother. Abby wouldn't commit to telling me which room she would be booked into. I asked her if she could stay in a particular first floor room and the reply was, "No, no, no!" I said she's 82 and has trouble with stairs. She said she was going to be on the second floor and that there were "just a few stairs." Unfortunately, I had already paid, assuming she would care about an 82 year old person. Boy, was I wrong. She stated several times that the reservation was not changeable or able to be canceled. I made the mistake of paying before I found out which room she would be booked into. Never having been there, I took her word for it, thinking a few was a few. There are no photos on the site of the staircase. As it turns out, it is a full flight of stairs with treacherously uneven floors covered in old carpet. Inside the front door is an old, bunches up cotton rug on top of an antique wool rug. When we pulled up to the house, Abby was outside speaking with someone. She told us there were keys on the hall table. She didn't show my mother to her room, we had to find it on our own. In addition, one afternoon, I went to make a cup of tea for my mother and found the cups and creamers to be dirty inside. No matter, there was no milk or cream to be had. I cleaned out a cup and made some tea. The last day of my mother's reservation, she went downstairs to the dining room on time, (there is a strict one hour breakfast service policy,) to find no coffee, no bread for toast. Some yogurt and blueberries were available. We understood there was an abbreviated breakfast due to Covid but coffee and toast were served every morning. It seems my mother was the last to leave and so no coffee had been made - because, why exactly? What a sour taste in our mouths, like the milk that curdled in my mothers coffee on Wednesday. (Apparently, that was the farmer's fault.)
