Foundry 317 is along the canal right on Westfield Boulevard. Foundry 317 focuses on home decor and furniture. I clearly arrived right at the tail-end of the holiday season and a good number of the items either had a holiday theme or fit within the holiday season. Items included antiques, one-of-a-kind furniture pieces, festive accents, candles, and other overall housing items. Foundry 317 has a parking lot, though I was actually wheeling there. There's a small ramp up to the sidewalk if you approach it from the right (facing Foundry 317). The doorway is pretty workable and I found the interior to be surprisingly accessible (though I will admit I was taking extra caution given some of the prices!). As I was wheeling, I knew it was pretty unlikely I'd actually buy anything on this visit as it would have been difficult to carry back to my car. However, I definitely saw some items I loved and can easily see myself returning in the near future. The employee I encountered was friendly, the environment was warm and inviting, and I really loved some of the smaller items. I'm a candle freak and definitely would like to return for those. I've always found this section of Westfield Blvd. a little hit-and-miss. The sidewalk is kind of cracked and it's somewhat uneven, however, there's much to love here and I loved the efforts toward accessibility. This is definitely a little gem. I'd seen it before, however, I've never been by when they were open. I finally got the chance to visit, and I'm definitely impressed. I'll be back.

This quaint little shop was very nice and cute, and had some nice local merchandise and unique nicnacks. I walked through the shop and could tell it had a nice selection of merchandise and the value of the price appeared to be very good. I went into a separate room that had 50% off merchandise, and found a few things that caught my eye which I ended up purchasing. They were kitchen coasters and they were very decorative and attractive looking. The service at the shop was Ok. The woman behind the cashier table was very nice and said hello when I first walked into the shop. When I checked out, she was very gracious and wrapped my kitchen coasters very carefully so that they would not break. Fivethirty Home is a neat shop with great merchandise, so if you are in downtown Zionsville, you should check it out. It is very nice and worth browsing around.

The new location has lots of nooks and crannies for setting up interesting displays and they do. We stopped by while out doing some Christmas shopping and found the store packed with shoppers. Good to see people supporting these small independent shops. They carry about 1/3 vintage items like globes and suitcases and nicely painted furniture pieces, about 1/3 local artisan decor mostly Indiana themed (which I love) and then about 1/3 reproduction vintage filler such as wrapping paper and trendy letter art. In addition she carries a line of high quality chalk paint and supplies. They teach classes on how to use the chalk paint (which I've been meaning to take). The pieces that she finishes are gorgeous - mostly little side tables. Today they carried a lot of Christas themed items. The owner is very friendly and happy to provide advice on painting. She is indeed gifted. The prices on the chalk paints are a little high so I haven't taken the plunge yet until I know I have time to complete a project. I see many customers coming to buy the paint and supplies so they must be happy. There is street parking available and a free lot across the street but it can be a bear to find a spot on a Saturday. They are not opened on Sunday. I'll be back and perhaps soon I'll take one of her classes.

So when I stopped in after seeing a friend's photos of the shop, I first noticed that the staff was personable and inviting. I really like when a place that is offering things for your own home makes you feel welcome in their business. It sets a tone. As I browsed through the different rooms in the shop, each was a little different. There are some standard items like candles, knick knacks, some women's jewelry and accessories, and even a few toys. But what I sensed was there were two themes that seemed most apparent. First, the store is loaded with holiday items. I came here just a few days before Christmas and the place was loaded with unique items that were affordable (though not cheap.) There were ornaments (marked down by 40%), table items, and things you'll just have to come in and check out for yourself. I also noticed a second theme that was promoting downtown Indy. They had pillows with the names of neighborhoods on them. Those would be great as house/apartment warming gifts. Even the candles mentioned earlier had neighborhood names on them, though I am not certain who determined which scent represented them. (Note that all the fragrances were pleasant, not some actual scent you might smell outside!) And the staff were friendly and welcoming. That goes a long way.
