Gash on my dog's head! Back story: We gave our 2yr 4mo old male pup a calming melatonin chew (that lasts for 12 hours) in his breakfast at 8am in preparation for his grooming at noon that day (1/13/21). This was his first and last time at this particular groomer. No one at VVPG were wearing masks when my husband dropped off our dog but that's besides the point. 3-4 hours later he was shaking and seemed terrified when my husband picked him up. The photos of the breed that I texted to the owner were completely disregarded or acknowledged even when she encouraged us sending them. She trimmed his head and paws. His torso and neck were not trimmed at all. His butt area was clipped so short he's been dragging his butt on the carpet because he's so uncomfortable. Worst cut ever? Yes. She clipped his face like a poodle and he's not a poodle. Right before bed that night we noticed a bump on his head, and it was discolored against his white/apricot hair. He had a bloody scab!! The following morning and afternoon I called and texted her that I was looking for an explanation regarding the bloody gash on my dog's head. She will not call or text me back. She hangs up on my call and immediately texts me, "please text me," and never responds. I can only imagine how stressful it is being a groomer but she shouldn't be in business! He's had nicks here and there from past grooms which is expected but this is significantly different. The attached photo was from the following day. read more

I don't know how else to say this - absolutely DO NOT bring your animals to this woman. After giving her multiple days/chances to respond it's time to take this public. On June 19th my mother dropped off our 8 pound Yorkie Maltese mix who we acknowledge is nervous. My mom felt comfortable enough to leave our dog to run an errand. After Mo (our dog) was washed and dried, my mom was told Mo was bleeding from her mouth. Of course my mom sped up her errands and rushed over - while on the way she was told Mo was having a seizure and still bleeding. None of that would have been the groomers fault - until my mom went to the emergency vet and was informed Mo had severe and violent bruising on her neck and head. While we understand things happen, it's apparent our dog was strangled given the intensity of the bruising and hemorrhaging in her eyes. It is one thing for an accident to happen, maybe Mo seized on the table and fell. Why was she left unmonitored long enough to have the kind of damage she did? Why hasn't she returned our phone calls politely requesting information? This woman should not be working with animals. The pictures are far too graphic for Yelp! but I will show the hemorrhaging in her eyes - I will free you from the horrific pictures of our feces/blood covered dog. We have now taken Mo to two different vets, one emergency and our regular doctor who can both confirm Mo has symptoms consistent with strangulation. They suspect the groomer was at fault but we have yet to hear anything back. Please, I implore you to take your dog anywhere else. read more

Got a terrible cut here and 2 days later my dog was diagnosed with kennel cough. He hasn't been around any other dogs in the last few months...When I called back to speak with them I was met with an incredibly rude response and was actually hung up on. $85 for a mediocre cut, $225 for a vet bill and i still need to find a groomer read more

This is my 29th year of taking my 1st, 2nd and now my 3rd Golden Retriever in for professional grooming on a regular basis in Denver. I'm a part-time res in Vail Valley and was desperate to get my dog in for some serious TLC recently. I called Vail Valley Pet Groomers based on a great review on Yelp, my call was promptly answered by Owner Lisa and my dog was in her hands the next day at noon. The difference Lisa made was night and day, and she really listened to my preferences as to how much or little I wanted areas trimmed. Lacey's fur is now ultra clean, smooth and her hair in the process of shedding was brushed free during her appointment versus continuing to shed now. She did a great job trimming her nails and hair on her feet. I was impressed with how much Lisa loves what she does and at the end of the day and a smile on her face, scrubs her place of business making it sparkle for her clients the next morning. I met Lisa about five months ago when I brought in our new rescue dog, a street dog from Houston, who had been caught, and put in a kill shelter. He was very malnourished, and his dry skin and matted dull hair showed it. Lisa, with her 40 years of experience, knew just what to do. That was wonderful, because I knew nothing. As his new coat began to emerge, she suggested that we not clip him for a while, to see what his coat was meant to be. Honestly, if any other groomer had told me that he should be clipped monthly, I would have believed them, and would have paid them for an unnecessary service. We, along with Lisa, are having fun watching Riley's growing, shiny, soft, and long new coat, become what it was meant to be.
