I found them through Yelp and I can honestly say first hand every review I had read was right on. I started the program roughly 3 months ago and I've lost 55lbs so far and I feel great, If you are reading this you or a loved one is over weight and looking for a solution. Don't wait another day. I kept the centers phone number on my desk for over a week before I picked up the phone. I wasn't sure what to expect, I kept wondering if they where another place trying to push their meals and shakes on you. Here's what you can expect.: *Gracieria will answer the phone and answer your questions. She'll schedule your first appointment and explain your first visit will take around 1 1/2 hours. (no rushing you in and out here). *When you arrive for your first appointment you will fill out your medical background. *Get weighed, *blood pressure taken *A fat analysis *A few other simple tests, like reflex etc. *Dr. Mayer will explain the nutritionall part of the program. He takes his time to answer any question you have. ^You will get your meds. (1 month worth) *Make your next appointment (once every two week) *Head out the door motivated knowing this is a program you can do. I am so glad I found the Valencia Medical Weight Control! Dr. Mayer & Ms. Graciela are such wonderful people! They don't ever push any product, the introduction class is very VERY helpful. I thought I knew a lot about after doing so much research (every time I decided to lose weight lol), boy was I WRONG! Graciela is always there for you when you call and have very random questions. I have been going for about 3 months now. I went in weighing at 248 lbs and as of today I have lost 29 lbs! I feel great, I know what foods to eat, and when to stop. I began going to Dr. Mayer almost two years ago after quitting Jenny Craig (too expensive and the food was making me sick), trying Atkins (my body didn't respond to it any longer since I did it for 1 year or so in college) and was desperate to lose weight. I knew if I didn't do it now, I'd never do it and would remain overweight for the rest of my life. Watching my dad go through health complications because of his weight made me feel all the more urgent to lose my extra weight and keep it off! I've now lost 110 lbs. and am continuing to lose weight. Through a combination of medication, vitamins, and healthy, balanced meals that still taste good, I've learned to eat the way I've always been told I should but could never get myself to actually do. Dr. Mayer has taken the time to talk with me about every aspect of my life that has hindered my ability to lose weight until now - including lifestyle, eating habits, work and personal stresses, physiological reasons, etc. I go see him every other week to weigh in and discuss my progress and what works or what has hindered me. If you are looking to lose weight, and want to do it the healthy way, with no gimmicks and no product pushing, this is the place! I first came to see Dr. Mayer in 2011, a couple of years after I had my second child, when I was feeling hopeless and like I would never lose the baby weight. I thought I knew what I was doing, but I obviously didn't, as evidenced by the extra 50 lbs I was still carrying around. Dr. Mayer guided me through every step and I lost 20+ lbs. I first called and left messages on the machine to please call me back to schedule an appointment as I could only make Saturdays due to my work schedule. I NEVER RECEIVED A SINGLE CALL BACK. Then I called multiple times and finally spoke directly to the doctor and he seemed very nice. He told me I had an appointment for the following week and that someone from the office would call to confirm my appointment and no one called. When I called a day before (today) to confirm my appointment, the lady on the phone informed me that I didn't have one because my appointment would take to long and that I would need to rebook for a later date. I have now spent approximately 1 month trying to get in to see this doctor. If this is how they treat people trying to start with them, I shudder to think about how they treat the people that have already paid them. read more
