Kannon cleaned my Roof and did an excellent job! I had some concerns in certain areas of the gutters on the roof and he spent extra time on the areas. He took the time to show me on the photos he took. Kannon took time on my roof ( over an hour start to finish) . The last service I had , which was a year ago, it took them 30 min and they were done. My experience with Valentine Roofing's gutter installation was disappointing from start to finish. The quality of work was sub‑par, and the communication was inconsistent. I was originally told they couldn't meet my timeframe, only to be contacted later saying they actually could. At no point did anyone tell me the job would be subcontracted out. I signed a contract for black gutters with black elbows and white downspouts that would be painted later. The subcontractor showed up with all‑white parts and said that's what Valentine Roofing gave him. They had to come back to reinstall the correct black elbows, which should have been done right the first time. The job site was left messy--screws and debris scattered everywhere. A Valentine Roofing representative had to come out afterward just to clean up the subcontractor's mess. On top of that, they didn't install a downspout where I specifically requested it. Now water runs down the roofline and spills over the gutters, creating a new problem I didn't have before. Overall, the lack of communication, poor coordination with subcontractors, and sloppy workmanship made this a frustrating experience. I expected better professionalism and attention to detail. Valentine Roofing has cleaned my roof annually for the past 3-4 years. However, nearly every time, I've had to ask them to return because the downspouts were not cleaned properly. On one occasion, they placed their ladder directly against my new gutters, scraping the paint, and later had to return to touch up the damage. I don't want to have to micromanage the work; I expect the job to be completed properly the first time. Their "checklist" is dishonest; this year, it's taken 3 separate visits to clean out the downspouts. Updating with new information- There is now drywall damage to the interior of the house. Edit to Original- after concerns where made clear, Valentine did take the time to address the issues to the work and did come out on multiple occasions to make it right. There is still a disagreement as to the aesthetic of the work, but I definitely appreciate the willingness to listen and attempt to correct. Valentine dumps a hefty amount of its resources into advertising "quality work" boasting being voted the "Best in the PNW" by the Seattle Times and getting a "Super Service Award" by Angi to get consumers, like me, to take a second look at it when it comes time for roof work. While I very much would've liked to have paid for the work advertised, I didn't. We signed the contract four months before the actual work started. The estimator was very likeable, down to earth, and addressed all questions we had. We asked for the estimate to include all possible costs so we could budget accordingly. He agreed and provided us an estimate that we thought was the "worst case scenario" number. We felt at ease. We felt we went with a contractor that wasn't cheap, but one we felt could provide quality work that was done with care. Four months later the work began. Instead of working with the estimator, we now have a project manager that is our point of contact. Day one, we're told our "worst case scenario" number wasn't actually the worst case... we were now told it's $3k more than we thought we'd owe, at most. Not the best news to get the first day and frustrating after having a candid conversation about surprise charges. During the first few days of the work, our project manager was unreachable for multiple hours at a time while the work was happening. The weather was not great and there was intermittent rainfall during the first week of work. We had concerns of water intrusion, runoff not being drained properly, and the roof being exposed. Our gutters were torn off and the fascia exposed. We were told that everything would be put back together once the roof was done. When the rain wouldn't let up, and we noticed the water not draining properly, we continued to contact the PM. We were told everything was protected. It wasn't until we showed photos and videos of the issues we saw that anything was actually done. The second half of the job went better in terms of communication, but we still had concerns about the aesthetic of the roof, but gave them the benefit of the doubt until the job was done before addressing the concern, again. The roof work finished. Not being a roof expert, I can't speak to the durability of the roof nor can I address leak prevention, but I can say it looks terrible and sloppy. Our roof looks worse than it did before they started. The gutters were initially reattached incorrectly, the flashing wasn't cut to the correct length on multiple areas causing an overlap with the flashing attachment. When this was brought up, we were met with a slight openness to address our issues, but ultimately half-assed, semi fixes and ignoring the majority of our complaints was the final result. If we would've selected a roofer that claimed to have the cheapest price and the quickest turnaround, I think this outcome would be more understandable. We didn't do that. UPDATE (06.09.26) Despite promising they would match our existing cedar fascia, independent carpenters confirmed Valentine used a cheaper pine, which, in addition to not matching original cedar fascia, won't last in PNW. UPDATE (05.27.26) Updating our review as we are now seeing that Valentine's shoddy work includes driving nails back out through our ceiling's drywall. This has been an absolute nightmare of grift and incompetence. Misleading quotes, unprofessional finishings, clearly scaling with cheap labor since being acquired by a private equity firm, while hiding behind a previously established brand and a warranty program. UPDATE (04.28.26) +1 Star. Valentine promptly sent a team to address the fascia that was misaligned as well as restore the 45-degree miter joints where those boards met at corners. They also applied sealant along some of the flashing edges. Started 4 years ago and we are still dealing with a leaking roof. Took 2 years for them to come out and repair the ceiling in the house from the first time. Now they are saying it's my fault from a leaking chimney. The tech who was out to wrap the chimney said that Valentine did not put the right flashing on the chimney. His boss texted me (always by text never face to face or a phone call) and said that the pictures show my chimney is now leaking because it is old and has cracks. No one said anything me when they replaced the roof. Now I have a 120 yr old hose that is leaking and they are saying it's my fault. read more

Valentine installed a roof on my house and garage. The estimator hid the cost of the plywood. The work crew was efficient and professional. But when they removed a trim board attached to the facia board under the shingles, they stripped the paint off facia boards. The missing paint leaves the wood bare. It is too high to reach easily. Valentine replaced our roof in 2020, and we were happy with their work, so we signed up for annual roof cleaning, which went well. But last November, when we asked for estimates for their 3-services discount, including the roof cleaning, windows, and dryer-vent cleaning, they were slow and repeatedly sent estimates that listed the wrong services. Over a month went by, with several emails and phone calls, each followed by the same wrong estimate. We finally hired another company for window cleaning. Valentine was competitive if not the best price but during the quote process they were the most informative and educational. Chuck really helped lay out our options. They had amazing communication. I was always in contact with someone from start to finish. Corbin explained the process thoroughly and gave us regular updates. Jose and his team were amazing. They finished a complete roof replacement and skylight replacement in 2 DAYS! (To beat the rain). There was a minor issue that we noticed a few days later. Valentine Roofing is pretty good. CONS: * Too many people to communicate with. From initial phone call to sales rep to project manager to foreman and a couple others in between.... It's A lot of people, which tells me they have too many on the payroll. * They were the lowest bid, HOWEVER, by the end of the job (Full roof replacement) We ended up paying a bit more........Bid was $16,500 +tax but final was $23,000. * We went into the attic and found quite a bit of debris from the tear off. Shingles, etc. We've hired some insulation guys to clean it up when they come by next week to fix our insulation. PROS: * Great communication. You can call and ask questions but they preemptively call AND text you to update with any information. * They clean up the job site daily and use their own on-site toilet. * They work HARD & LONG to get the job done. It started off great. Estimator was great, did a thorough job and even went through our crawl space. We had another roofing company even try to give us a quote by just looking at the exterior. Pricing was fair, wasn't the most expensive and we felt confident to choose them based on our conversations with the estimator. We were actually not supposed to get our roof done until a month out but we actually had a leak through our ceiling from a bad storm so they moved up the project to the next week. So far we thought, so far so good. The actual construction itself was when the good service stopped. The crew gave NO warning that they were going to be throwing things off the roof as they were removing the old roof. I was going in and out of my house/car and shingles, wood, etc. were flying all over the place; I could have easily gotten hit as these pieces literally landed right next to me. They had a really incompetent project manager who didn't communicate anything to anyone. He told his crew the roof was done so they cleared the work place and drove the big dump bin away. I looked up at the roof and it was CLEARLY half complete. We called Valentine and they were like "the project manager indicated that the job was completed." Mmmmm..no, you need to bring the crew back. This happened like another 2 more times where they crew left and the JOB WAS NOT DONE. My husband actually had to go on the room himself to double check this. This is not our job to check your work! What if we had never called back to let them know the roof was incomplete? Would they have just left it?! Also the crew threw their trash everywhere... I had to go around my house picking up the plastic bottles, random plastic and wood pieces. EVENTUALLY the roof was complete. Leaves me still wondering how long this roof will last. I'm concerned after seeing how this crew was that shingles will just fly off during the next storm or back to my original problem of leakage or the entire thing would just collapse. read more

They had their employees use a make shift outhouse fashioned in the back of their work trailer. It leaked all over my driveway down my front entry. They left it there for 2 weeks never cleaning it, letting the hot summer heat cook away. When I finally figured out where the putrid smell was coming from I lost it. Mark, the estimator, gave a good presentation on what to expect and gave us shingle samples to run by our HOA for approval. Office personnel is kind, workers kind, left the job very clean...Tax is not included in your bid. They will change what your estimate provides, crew does not speak English as first language, and not fluent. You can not keep product left over from your job if you want it, and you will not be reimbursed. Removed 100 year old trim that did not need to be removed, crew just didn't want to take the time to remove flashing carefully, then charged me for the replacement boards and installation which of course were not at all the original trim style of my heritage home, nor included in bid. I got other bids and of course I did not read the fine print which says tax not included...making the assumption since other bids I got DID include tax. I would not recommend Valentine Roofing. You will never talk to the management, only the office personnel and the crew, in which that communication is very challenged. read more

Just fair warning to whomever is wanting to know more. I fell for the line "Get three bids, just make sure one of them is Valentine Roofing" - and that's what I did. What I found is that if you have anything specific you want in a roof system, Valentine is not interested. Makes me wonder what kind of roofers they are if they don't want to use higher quality, more expensive products that would make them more money on my project. I spec roofs for projects (30+ years) so I know what I want for my own house - from the underlayment, where I want Ice & Water Shield, what I want in the valleys, etc. Valentine did bid my house for me but basically they only quoted the down & dirty, bottom barrel stuff - I suppose this is so they can make sure they are low bidder. I passed on Valentine and spent more with a different group who was willing to meet my requirements. I know that almost all of you reading this don't know what elements you would want in a roof system, but here's what I know... 95% of the roofers out there don't actually understand their own profession - they just go from what they were shown when they first started and don't know the why and how things work in the world of roofing. Valentine comes off as one of the 95%. Now, if you're just doing a new roof in order to sell your house and move on regardless of how it is done, then maybe Valentine is your best choice - I'm not knocking that kind of analysis as it is done every day. But if you're planning on living with the new roof for a long time, then...... One of the very few I've met over the years that understands both roofing theory and practice is Travis at Four Seasons (I'm sure there are others) because he can hold his own in a debate about proper ventilation and ventilation calcs, installation techniques necessary so as not to void a warranty from Day 1, warranty limitations, material compatibility, etc. I have no affiliation with that company and I'm not getting anything for singing his praises, I just know he's a rare find in the roofing business. We waited a couple months for a moss removal appointment. When they finally came out to perform the work they decided the roof wasn't accessible. They also quoted an all-inclusive price to include gutter cleaning. We have a leaf filter system and didn't need gutter cleaning. They said there's no discount, same price regardless. Our roof doesn't have a steep pitch. I believe it was a Friday afternoon and they wanted to get off work early. UPDATE: Valentine contacted me after I shared about my experience and the manager was very nice. He was sincere and worked hard to make things right. When we decided to hire Valentine Roofing, they were the highest bid, but we went with Valentine for 3 reasons: 1. We thought we would be getting seamless experience and high quality communication. Unfortunately, that was not the case. We kept getting handed off to different people for each part of the project, which made it hard to keep track of who we should be working with. 2. We were told that there would be someone one site during the duration of the project managing the project. That was true, but a bit misleading. The project manager who scheduled the project, is not the person on site. It is the foreman, who is working the job. On top of that, they tore off part of the siding above my front door and used a very dark caulk to put it back, which looks ugly and mismatched. Then the project manager told me that it was "typical" and I would need to hire someone to paint over their poor job myself. 3. We also felt secure in the fact that we would be told if extra work was needed that would result in additional labor costs, we would have the chance to approve it before anything was done. Unfortunately, that was also not the case. After the job was over and the workers left, the project manager called me and said there was an additional $1400 cost added. I told him that I was never notified nor did I approve it. He said they rang my doorbell a few times but no one answers. But no one called my cell phone and they said that I didn't need to be home during the job. The project manager then proceeded to blame the foreman for not telling him, but didn't provide any problem solving to me. Be forewarned that they won't work on roofs over 20 years old even in an emergency leak situation. They will put up a tarp until a full roof replacement is done but that is it unfortunately. From the first visit getting the estimate through the great communication in the month and a half until the team showed up I was very impressed with the professionalism. Pleanty of calls to keep us informed and everything went as planned. A special shout out to Fransico and his crew. They were polite and courteous as well as very, very efficient. It took just two days to take off the old shingles, replace a bad spot and seal up her roof with top quality materials. The kept the work area clean but made an extra trip to finish up the clean up. We were very impressed with our overall experience with Valentine Roofing. Our project consisted of a complete reroofing of our 2500 sq ft home with replacement of existing skylights. The initial contact in June with their Estimator, Cody, was positive. He was very responsive, thorough and professional. I obtained estimates from 3 other firms and based on his description of their approach to the work to be done and the price selected Valentine as the best choice. The work wasn't scheduled until the first week in July. They had some personnel issues which caused the project to be delayed a week which resulted in material stacked in my driveway for longer than planned. That and a minor communication issue before the project manager got involved are the only reason for a 4 vs 5 star review. The project manager, Zach, kept me involved of the status of the work and was accessible through-out the project. The job was performed as expected. Sergio, the on-site foreman, answered any questions I had. They provided adequate protection to the surroundings and no damage occurred. We had Valentine do our flat roof for our 1950's style home. I did my research. The roof that was torn off was Duralast by Dupont. This membrane was placed on top of the original gravel/tar material. It would have lasted for another 15 years except for a cut in the roof during a demo project that leaked and caused dry rot. All painstakingly had to be torn off, which resulted in two large and full dumpsters. Valentine installed a PVC membrane over rigid foam, which is best for a flat roof in the PNW. Elmer and his crew deserve credit for their work ethic. Andreas, project manager, also kind and professional. Valentine promptly came out and gave a a really comprehensive and detailed quote and took the time to review so I would understand. Cory is amazing as an estimator and had great communication with us. After signing the contract things got a bit rocky as Covid-19 hit and impacted their scheduling and work, as well as impacting their staff. I wasn't happy that I had so many shifts in who I was talking to about my project. I knocked off one star because of some issues with that as well as a change in company policy that required a change to my contract after signature*. With that - the roof itself was done well, they did damage some siding and part of my dry wall and they took care of repairing those. In the end I feel comfortable knowing I have a great roof on my house. * change was they no longer do the flashing around chimney due to issues they've had with the product, it was in my contract that they would do it. Quicker than expected. We had all new sheathing & new additional vents installed as well. - the quality of the products, materials and labor was all great. No complaints. - the gutter guy was amazing! He comes about a week later, after the roofing crew. He did our entire house (continuous gutters with leaf guards) all in one day by himself! I had 3 bids for my roof replacement. Valentine roofing fell in the middle for pricing of the bids I received. The work was done fast and looks good. However, the bid included 12 sheets of plywood. Turns out my project needed 2/3rds of the roof deck to be replaced. Which added another $2000 to the price. 3 years later, we were moving. I checked my attice space, and there was black mold growing on the underside of my roof. They sent one of their installers out to inspect. He determined that it was due to poor ventilation. During the replacement, they added a ridge cap, which was not enough ventilation. I decided to hire a company that specializes in mold removal at the cost of 8k. When I called Valentine roofing customer care/ warranty department, they sent out a team to cut in more ventilation. They stood by their warranty, which covered them from having to cover damages of mold, which was due to their poor design of my roof and ventilation needs. Also, the baffles in the attic space were all damaged during the roof replacement, and they did nothing to repair them, which also added to the mold problem. In the end, they cut me a $2000 check for a good faith gesture. Consider a different company or one that has a warranty that protects the consumer and not the company. read more

What started out great during the initial sales/consult experience quickly turned into a nightmare. There's little to no communication between the sales, scheduling, installation and payment offices. Because of that, there were problems every step of the process. At first that didn't bother me... until we had our gutters installed and had water leaking out the top of the downspouts and down the back of the fascia after the new install. I immediately called to have them come back to fix the issue. While waiting for the leaks to be resolved, I received a letter from Valentine's attorney stating that a lawsuit would be filed for late payment. You have to be kidding me. Also, if you value safety during COVID, go with another company. Techs didn't wear masks during necessary conversations, even after I requested they do so (and wore one myself). read more
