I'm not sure which will reach you first so I'm trying several avenues on this matter. I'm a resident at Alister Galleria here in Houston TX and I have an issue with the lack of services being provided by the young man in our community. Although there are two people from what I have observed only one of them comes upstairs to service floors 2 and 3 in my building. The other gentleman takes care of the lower levels. Last night as I sat on the sofa, I heard the lid of the bin hit the wall loudly behind me, so I looked at my Ring camera to see what was going on. I observed my trash bag sitting near the stairway and the tall slender gentleman proceeding to go to the other side of the breezeway. When he came back with the trash from there, he picks up my bag from the ground and begins to look it over attempting to see through the bag and after a while he sits my trash back in my bin and begins to walk upstairs to service that floor. I step outside to inquire about it. I told him I just wanted an understanding on why my trash was placed back in the bin and the gentleman told me because my trash was heavier than everyone else's. I then asked if there was a weight limit on the trash that I should be aware of. Then he tells me that there is a bag limit and that I double bagged my bag because I knew it was heavy to which I explained, I just put raw meat in a bag that I didn't want to stay in my apartment and that the bag was basically empty without the meat so I dropped the bag on top of it and placed it in a bin. He then informed me that when I moved in, they should have given me the rules for the valet service and said he was coming back for it. What he meant by coming back for it was that he was placing a notice on my door for overweight/oversized trash. I use 13-gallon, white drawstring bags, if I see the photo my bag is the one that is on the ground, the bag that came from the other side of the breeze way is still in his hand so I'm not sure how my bag is oversized/overweight. I even decided to pull out my scale to weigh the bag which came in under 20lbs. From a review of the "Part-time Trash Collector" job description listed on your site for Houston the applicants are asked to have the "Ability to lift and transport items weighing up to 50 lbs." which my bag is well under this weight. My bag does not have any pet waste that calls for the double bagging as identified on your website but the fact that my trash had two bags was an issue for this gentleman and I'm not sure why this would be an issue. I have since added an additional bag because after him dragging it across the cement it is now dripping, and I don't think anyone should have to deal with a mess like that, but I feel that it will cause him to again refuse to pick up my trash. I am only taking the time to write this because this is not the first time that I have had issues with trash pick up at my unit. I haven't been in this community a year yet but just shortly after I moved in there was a trash issue where the guy ripped a huge hole in my trash bag leaving it open and then left it in the bin. Inside the bag was watermelon rinds and a couple of other items, nowhere near full, but it was again just something I wanted out of the apartment to keep bugs from being drawn to it. The way the bag was ripped up was not an accident and it was no way in that condition when I placed It in the bin. No notice was left on my door at the time so I called the office and inquired but just said I would place that bag in another bag and leave it for it to be picked up the following day. In another instance I fault myself for attempting to be helpful. I arrived home at the time that they were servicing the building, they had already grabbed my floor, and the bags were again sitting near the stairs, I went inside and tied up my bag and sat it with the others near the stairs. The gentleman picked up every other bag and left my bag there and walked off. I just sat my trash in the bin for it to be picked up the following day but that action for me spoke to the character of the individual servicing our community. I'm not writing this to have any fired I just would rather him either be rotated to another community or remedy the situation because I'm aware that I am not the only resident having issues with trash pickup and with this being a service that we are charged for it's not at all providing us the service as intended. read more

From April 13 through April 20, our trash was properly bagged, securely tied, and set out during the required service window. We were not given any warning, violation notice, or other indication that our unit had failed to comply with the valet trash rules. Nevertheless, trash from our apartment was not picked up. It accumulated outside our front door to the point that it became difficult to exit the apartment safely. I (Nikita Kostyuk) called Valet Living about this issue on Tuesday, April 14; Wednesday, April 15; Thursday, April 16; and Friday, April 17. On Tuesday and Wednesday, I spoke with Candace. On Thursday and Friday, I spoke with two other agents. Each agent confirmed that the trash should have been collected and that there was no valid reason it had not been picked up. On Thursday, April 16, I also received an email from Arkyell Gardner, Area Leader for Valet Living, stating that "there were no observations submitted by the collector that would have prevented the waste from being serviced." Arkyell further stated that Valet Living "will ensure the missed waste is removed during the next scheduled service (4/16)." Despite that assurance, on the morning of April 20, the trash still had not been collected. This is not a complaint about a one-time inconvenience. My current apartment complex, Irongate Apartment Homes in Sacramento, CA, is contracted with Valet Living and there is a mandatory monthly fee of $25.00 - for an agreement of nightly trash collection. My trash was not collected again last night even though on the app it says "done". Please see the pictures below. My neighbors trash has not been collected either. This is the third time Valet Living has not held up to the agreement and we are paying a mandatory monthly fee for a service they do not deliver. I'm disabled and rely on this service. They don't show up multiple times a year. We've experienced this for over 4 years. I've called them MULTIPLE times. They are apologetic and offer to escalate the issue to management. I've never received a call back, voicemail, text or email from ANYONE. My complex requires the we use the service. I'm charged a monthly fee as part of my rent. They consistently skip my trash. Great business model - ripping off customers. Avoid this business if you can. read more

For almost a week now Valet Living has failed to pick up any trash in our apartment complex. We have sent several emails to management to which we received no reply, trash is now getting tore into by strays and litter is spreading throughout the complex. Its sad that you are forced to pay for a service that isn't all that great to begin with all for them to not show up to do as simple of a task as trash removal. Horrible vendor and pathetic customer service. They leave messes behind them and throw containers on the ground like children. They skip 3rd floors because they are too lazy to walk the stairs. They toss bags in the air to the compactor to avoid the stairs. They are on camera throwing bags, the bags bust, and they leave messes behind them and broken glass. They never have time to properly complete their duties, leaving only time to stuff the waste bags under the compactor for someone else to take care of the following day. Valet Living gets paid a few grand each month and never compensates us for their incompetence or attempt to make things right from their end. One star is more than Valet Living deserves. My apartment complex in Gurnee, IL uses Valet Living and they fail to pick up trash several times a week on average. I've even seen their vehicles in our complex and they have still left my trash bag for no reason aside from being lazy. I have never had any notes left indicating any reasons to not haul the trash away. If this service wasn't tied with my apartment complex, I would have gotten rid of them as trash service a long time ago. If you have a choice, stay away from Valet Living. read more

I am a resident at The Parke at Trinity Apartments, in Raleigh, NC where Valet Living provides trash removal services. Tenants are charged a mandatory monthly fee for this service, which is supposed to be performed on specific dates and times as outlined in my lease agreement. Unfortunately, the service has been inconsistent. On several occasions--specifically in April, June, and September--my trash was not collected as scheduled, despite me continuing to be charged for the service. I have reached out multiple times to both The Parke at Trinity leasing office and Valet Living, LLC to report these missed pickups and to inquire about a possible refund or credit for services that were not performed. To date, I have not received a response from either party to my emails or requests. I am requesting a written explanation for the ongoing inconsistency in service, as well as clarification on how tenants are compensated when paid services are not rendered. The PEOPLE that work at Valet Living are fine, I guess. They differ week to week, so we don't get to know them like we did our former company, and I don't begrudge someone trying to make a living, BUT THIS COMPANY IS A NIGHTMARE TO BE SERVICED BY! THEY ARE TRASH PEOPLE. THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO PICK UP TRASH! But, NOoooooo... They have so many rules that I've seen my elderly neighbors hurt themselves trying to drag out the cans they provide, fall, use bathroom scales to weigh their garbage outside, separate their trash (even though this company does NOT recycle!), sit at the curb with clippers and twine to tie up cardboard and clippings only to have the trash left behind for some other violation. They have taken photos of garbage bags inside the bins, downloaded the pics, emailed them to our management office, which they print off, drive over to our homes and tape the notice of violation to our front door with a warning to comply with whatever violation is listed. IN ALL THAT TIME THEY COULD'VE JUST PICKED UP OUR BAG AND HAULED IT AWAY!!! They will leave your garbage behind (in this FL heat!) if: you don't tie your bag at least twice; you don't weigh your bag to keep it under 25#; you don't cut up your refuse into little pieces; you don't use white bags, (I buy MINT black bags to keep rodents/pests away plus birds don't like the black bags); or if you've violated some other "code" that keeps your trash behind. THE REASON? The part-time employees use their private vehicles to haul the trash to the dumpsters in the front of our community. They don't want trash in their private vehicles, so WE, THE PAYING CLIENT, are inconvenienced, punished, and experience hardship so VALET LIVING drivers don't mess up their cars. These drivers ALWAYS have trash fall out of their trucks or off their cars onto our street because they aren't built for trash removal. THEY COMBINE THE RECYCLE WITH THE TRASH and do NOT separate the bags -- yes! we must use the provided see-through plastic bags for our recycling, even though they do not separate at the dumpsters. WE RESIDENTS HAVE WATCHED THEM!!! Plus, recycling stations tell us NOT to use plastic bags as they clog up the cylinders. I was told "we let Martin County worry about that." I wash my trash bin out. I line my bin with the black mint bag and throw the other bags inside that so it's double lined! BUT I'm in violation of some random rule so they've left mine and dozens other trash at the curb several times AND THE BIRDS LOVE IT then we get a threatening letter that we've allowed the wildlife to make a hazardous mess on out street or in our yards. WE HAVE JOBS TO BE AT ALL DAY. VALET LIVING HAS A JOB TOO: TO PICK UP TRASH!!! We also have to PAY OUT OF OUR POCKETS to provide ourselves with the white trash bags which THEY require. WE HAVE TO PAY SEPARATE VENDORS TO HAVE LARGER ITEMS REMOVED OR WHATEVER THEY FEEL LIKE NOT TAKING. Sadly, my experience has been quite similar to everyone else's. I have no choice but to use this service as per my lease even though I would rather take my trash out myself. They are inconsistent - some days they'll pick up your trash at 5 p.m., on others, they'll collect your trash at 10 p.m. If they drop your trash and make a mess, they don't clean up after themselves. They've not shown up for several Sundays in a row without any notice. They get away with this lack of customer service because we have no choice but to use the service due to the apartment complex's lease, but they are terrible. I had a phone interview with a recruiter for Valet Living, was offered a job and was told I would start the following Monday, and then almost immediately received an email stating that they were unable to contact me and, therefore, I would not be receiving the job. I reached out to the recruiter and they completely ghosted me. Two days later, they reposted the position. So, do you need employees or not? My best guess is discrimination because my preferred name doesn't match my legal name. Regardless, I don't have the energy to fight to work in an environment where I won't be treated respectfully. They have missed trash collection about at least 2-3 times now for no reason, have picked up trash ahead of schedule leading to missed collection (since we are supposed to put our trash out at a specific time), and have refused to pick up a ~15 lb bag (yes, I weighed after they gave me an observation) for being "overweight" when it is very directly stated that the maximum weight limit is 25 lb. Support line has at least addressed the missed collection, but it happens the following day, and my current complaint about the observation I received for the "overweight" bag has been met with nothing but a useless restatement of facts I already knew- they did not even address the proof of the bag's weight I provided. I did not even know it was an observation, because they left a tag that did not say it was one, and last observation they sent an email with completely different wording. I worked for valet living for about 5 months till I was terminated because my truck had problems and couldn't make it to work Insides of the company or at least my district They force us to write 5 observations and if you don't you get written up so I was forced to write bs observations for tenants which I found out gets sent to the property manager and along the way some tenants gets evicted. Which is hard to see But back to the vehicles we use our own vehicle do not get paid for gas or repairs or anything so we are kinda looking forward to taking recycling in my district and using recycling for gas money for the week or so. They do not allow filling up our own vehicles on clock and they time you on each property and will write you up if you take too long I am with the tenants saying it's a scam because it is not just for you guys but for the workers as well my manager had no problem replacing me and said so to me in text and when my truck went out was let go and still had no truck or money to fix it I'm not the only one this happened to. The garbage company or is the company garbage...anyway their employees are poorly paid, poorly trained and the Valet Living management team is equally bad. You can have a fancy website and say the right things but if you are owned by an private equity company it is ONLY about the money! On my community the dude collecting trash reminds me of "Sanford and Sons" with plywood propped up on the side of his 1994 pick-up trucks bed. He is friendly enough and tells me he get a whooping $16 per hour. No overtime, no PTO days because he's part time, no gas allowance, nothing. Oh, he disappeared about two weeks ago and I have seen three or four different people coming thru my community collecting trash. Complaining to my property manager about missed collections, they advised me that if they could get out of their remaining 2 years, they would, but Valet Living makes it difficult to cancel their contracts. Calls to their customer service promised me a return call from the area manager, Richard. This dude was rude and squarely placed their missed trash on me. Accused me of placing my trash out after their start time and not using the required 13 gallon tall kitchen bags and not knotting the bags. All these excuses are NOT TRUE! Service starts at 7pm, I use 13 gallon kitchen bags and know what a knot is... He promised to come on Friday (not a service day) to remove what was missed last night. My apartment complex has a contract with them, REQUIRING me to pay for Valet Living's (dis)service. I've been forced to use them for 6 years. They only come by 2/3rds of the nights they're supposed to--and only in good weather--while leaving trash bags and boxes half of the times they do come, and making up excuses like "bag looked like it would rip and spill if I lifted it" and for Glad ForceFlex kitchen bags, properly tied, half full. I have to hand it to Valet Living. In these days, people are polarized and it's rare that they agree on something but the people in my apartment complex are all united against Valet Living and want them to go away. Valet Living is bringing unity! I think the reason for that is that people see that this business model just has one main purpose - revenue generation for management companies. Yes, on the surface they claim to provide the valuable service of taking your trash to the dumpster which in my case at least I already get charged for but they only do it within certain late evening hours and only allow for Trash Bags so it's really not a service at all. They really seem to have a good sales team from what I see because they don't just go to a local apartment and instead go with the main company so I can only imagine what share of the profits they offer them to make them do this to their own residents but they have apparently succeeded. My manager said he heard us and he was completely helpless because it came from corporate. Corporate washes their hand of it and says it's a service they provide and according to a fellow who emailed me after my last review that they don't make a profit and just cover their own costs. I have a ring camera. The collection time is 8pm- I set my trash out 7:30, 7:15, 7:45, 5:00pm on the dot, doesn't matter. It's always going to be picked up late or not at all. They will throw trash bags off the balcony of the complex and leave trash juice all over the concrete, making it smell bad. They are also so petty, they will leave anything if the lid is even slightly open. They come in late at night making a lot of noise and playing rap music very loud as they come up the stairs. The prepaid, mandatory service is at the customers disadvantaged, while Valet Living refuses to refund customers receiving no service. Valet Living in no way has honored or fulfilled it's contracted services and offers little more than lip services without results. There's no oversight of the service that clearly is in need of management and follow up to ensure what has been pre-paid is actually happening, it's not happening! Our trash has sat for weeks at a time for disposal as well as our neighbors garbage creating unhealthy, unsightly living condition, stinking, creating a mess while decomposing. Bags end up being spilled or leaked across our front doorways landing areas and stairwells after sitting for so long when finally removed after several complaints. Insult to injury, on several occasions the smallest 1-gallon bathroom trash bag on top will be taken, while the larger kitchen filled trash bags below are left behind for weeks. The unbelievable mess created by Valet Living refusing to take trash as contracted is then walked into our homes & into our vehicles on the bottom of our shoes. Absolutely horrible is the only way to describe this company's service. My apartment Requires residents to pay for the valet trash service from this company and it's been nothing but disappointing. Trash is left on the floors in the hallways, trash is often picked up late or not picked up at all, no maintenance is provided for the 'valet' garbage cans, and garbage will only be picked up if it is in completely pristine condition. The Valet Living trash collectors are throwing down the trash they've picked up from each apartment's bin into our building's trash chute. They are supposed to take the trash to a designated bin or their own facility. If they are just dumping the trash down the chute, we don't need this service!
