    refused service due to rip

Valet Living refused to pick up my trash due to a tiny pin-sized hole caused by flower stems, even though the bag was tied and not leaking. They left it on my doorstep with a misleading note claiming it was "ripped or leaking." Support confirmed that any small hole qualifies as a "rip" under their policy. For a service residents are forced to pay for, this is rigid, unreasonable, and poorly thought out. No discretion and no real way to resolve issues.

This is a photo after he looked my bag over and placed it back in the bin and not in cart waiting below.

I'm not sure which will reach you first so I'm trying several avenues on this matter. I'm a resident at Alister Galleria here in Houston TX and I have an issue with the lack of services being provided by the young man in our community. Although there are two people from what I have observed only one of them comes upstairs to service floors 2 and 3 in my building. The other gentleman takes care of the lower levels. Last night as I sat on the sofa, I heard the lid of the bin hit the wall loudly behind me, so I looked at my Ring camera to see what was going on. I observed my trash bag sitting near the stairway and the tall slender gentleman proceeding to go to the other side of the breezeway. When he came back with the trash from there, he picks up my bag from the ground and begins to look it over attempting to see through the bag and after a while he sits my trash back in my bin and begins to walk upstairs to service that floor. I step outside to inquire about it. I told him I just wanted an understanding on why my trash was placed back in the bin and the gentleman told me because my trash was heavier than everyone else's. I then asked if there was a weight limit on the trash that I should be aware of. Then he tells me that there is a bag limit and that I double bagged my bag because I knew it was heavy to which I explained, I just put raw meat in a bag that I didn't want to stay in my apartment and that the bag was basically empty without the meat so I dropped the bag on top of it and placed it in a bin. He then informed me that when I moved in, they should have given me the rules for the valet service and said he was coming back for it. What he meant by coming back for it was that he was placing a notice on my door for overweight/oversized trash. I use 13-gallon, white drawstring bags, if I see the photo my bag is the one that is on the ground, the bag that came from the other side of the breeze way is still in his hand so I'm not sure how my bag is oversized/overweight. I even decided to pull out my scale to weigh the bag which came in under 20lbs. From a review of the "Part-time Trash Collector" job description listed on your site for Houston the applicants are asked to have the "Ability to lift and transport items weighing up to 50 lbs." which my bag is well under this weight. My bag does not have any pet waste that calls for the double bagging as identified on your website but the fact that my trash had two bags was an issue for this gentleman and I'm not sure why this would be an issue. I have since added an additional bag because after him dragging it across the cement it is now dripping, and I don't think anyone should have to deal with a mess like that, but I feel that it will cause him to again refuse to pick up my trash. I am only taking the time to write this because this is not the first time that I have had issues with trash pick up at my unit. I haven't been in this community a year yet but just shortly after I moved in there was a trash issue where the guy ripped a huge hole in my trash bag leaving it open and then left it in the bin. Inside the bag was watermelon rinds and a couple of other items, nowhere near full, but it was again just something I wanted out of the apartment to keep bugs from being drawn to it. The way the bag was ripped up was not an accident and it was no way in that condition when I placed It in the bin. No notice was left on my door at the time so I called the office and inquired but just said I would place that bag in another bag and leave it for it to be picked up the following day. In another instance I fault myself for attempting to be helpful. I arrived home at the time that they were servicing the building, they had already grabbed my floor, and the bags were again sitting near the stairs, I went inside and tied up my bag and sat it with the others near the stairs. The gentleman picked up every other bag and left my bag there and walked off. I just sat my trash in the bin for it to be picked up the following day but that action for me spoke to the character of the individual servicing our community. I'm not writing this to have any fired I just would rather him either be rotated to another community or remedy the situation because I'm aware that I am not the only resident having issues with trash pickup and with this being a service that we are charged for it's not at all providing us the service as intended.

Then when I asked maintenance why it was still closed, he said the ice maker was broken. Not sure why you'd need to close the whole cabana for an ice maker...but I'm not a clown running the place. If you have an issue with your unit, don't worry, they'll find a bandaid solution without actually fixing the problem. If you can't find any other property to live at, I'm sorry. Make a goal to move as quickly as possible. I know prices have gone up since I've moved in -- I'm very actively looking for a new place. But for the amount of money people spend on rent, the community has a large amount of bad people. No one cares about their trash, don't pick up after their dogs, let their kids run around the gym and break things, etc. not to mention the weekly visits from the police, breaking up obnoxious fights. This isn't the place.

My boyfriend and I signed a 15 month lease and please believe me when I tell you it was the worse mistake we made. To start off, the leasing company has a contract with a cruise line where they bring in temporarily tenants every 2-3month months. They are all in their early 20's and their shifts vary. The latest shift being close to midnight. They get home and like to drink and party, don't blame them, been there done that. However, they are NOT clean, they do not pay for ballet and they let their garbage accumulate and in several occasions they have placed their own garbage in our valley garbage dispenser . Which brings me to the bigger issue we have faced since the first month of living here. The cockroach infestation. It is extremely disgusting and very irresponsible of management to still have this be an issue for multiple residents after multiple complains. Please be very weary of this apartment complex, do your research and ask residents when you stop by. I do not recommend this apartment complex at all. The staff is very polite and nice but they do not take care of the infestation and the many complains on the noise and lack of respect to other tenants. My advise, please look elsewhere.

We like this apartment honestly, but the thing that dissappoint us is they didnt informed us how that 6 weeks free works, they keep saying that,"yeah, you'll be good on the free weeks special thing, once you applied it As soon as possible," So we did it, we applied right away, paid for the application fees which cost us "$320" for (4 persons)... but guess what? While we were signing the lease contract, the 6 weeks free wasnt included!!!They gave us an options of 11 months which is the lowest price and 13 months, and more ,for a higher prices. So we ofcourse we pick the 11 months, Not knowing the 6weeks free is not included on the 11 months. No one told or informed us!!Now they are telling us that we need to get the 13 month lease(which cost 800$ more) so we can get the 6 weeks free !!!Feel like we just waste time, and we shouldve get a better apartment!! I was told that the previous tenant had recently moved out and that they had new tenants who recently moved in. What A Welcome!! For a year prior I barely heard a sound from above. The bathroom disaster, was followed by the discovery that these Animals owned 4 dogs. At times, it sounded like they were running them around purposely possibly for exercise. There was a constant slamming & moving of furniture to clean dog crap that was then being collected & stored on the balcony " above mine". In all fairness, I love Dogs, but it sounded like they were infact operating a kennel in a 4th floor apartment complex. We're talking about 4 large size dogs, running around all hours of the day and most nights. The "absentee- management" did ZERO, nothing, not a damn thing. At the time that they moved in, there were many bottom floor units available with access to a yard. Of course the tenants were even worse, they would make all kinds of noise especially in the evening. Most likely it was when they were just waking up to start their day. I was woke at least once a night, usually while I was deep asleep at 2-3AM. I heard rumbles of staff saying that one of them was coming or going around those hour (hopefully for legitimate work). It was followed by a stampede of dogs running like crazy when they arrived. Personally, if I come home early or late at night I have the respect for my neighbors. They had no regard for others, not a clue. On top of everything, these Thugs thought smoking marijuana 24/7 was also acceptable in a non smoking complex. Now, if it didn't travel through to my air-ducts, I wouldn't have cared. Unfortunately I had a cloud of smoke in my apartment regularly. I was constantly battling headaches. MGT did nothing for months!! They wouldn't even discuss if the dogs were on the lease. They would just reply by saying they're not permitted to talk to me about other tenants. How about the marijuana? They ignored my plea & even refused to check for months. Ironically someone working in maintenance seen the dogs and witnessed the heavy marijuana smoke first hand. They said it was reported & brought to the attention of the mgr. KATE, who swept it under the rug. They repeatedly told me that the noise & heavy smoke was normal to apartment living. I guess they forget that I was here for over a year prior with NOT A SINGLE ISSUE or having to call & make a complaint. The previous tenant was very respectful about everything. So Lantower SAVE your bullshit excuses!! Obviously, In the end I couldn't deal with it any longer & basically told them I was in contact with an attorney. To help break my lease or to legally address concerns that were being ignored. This group of numb-nuts started scrambling and even recording our conversations. They had a regional mgr. come in using a blocked number, they were all in cahoots. She made pretend she was calling from out of state but I seen her in the office 15 mins later. Amateur Hour!! They were basically all being told what to do because I mentioned, I had contacted my attorney. SO LANTOWER BRANDON Wouldn't it have been easier to just have addressed the f-situation from the start? Maybe not move questionable people above someone who was paying, renewed and was content living here till this point. I hope I can help with your decision if you're considering to move here. Especially if you work early in the morning or have children & care about your health. YES so basically everyone. Listen I'm not taking my valuable time to do this for nothing. Hopefully this will help prevent someone else from going through what I had endure for a year. *Ironically I told these fools that I would refrain from leaving any negative feedback If they would respectfully give me my deposit back that was due (minus the cleaning fee etc.) Let's just say they cleaned alright, they cleaned out my deposit. I was positive this was going to happen, especially in retaliation for all the inconvenience I caused. Be cautious with your decision, read the reviews. You don't want be trapped & helpless for a year with not a leg to stand on. Honestly, do yourself a favor and find a place that is properly managed.

The safety of residents seems to be a significant concern, as I've encountered several sketchy individuals that clearly did would not pass a background check. Some of these people were my neighbors that had people living in the garage as well. The constant noise from disruptive neighbors made living here unbearable, and I've personally witnessed people urinating in the parking lot and leaving their trash all over the property, including dirty diapers. People blast music and twerk in the parking lot at 2am. Management doesn't do anything about it, just tells you to call the police or record the situations which would place me in an uncomfortable spot and I would feel unsafe doing so with these type of individuals. The presence of police at the complex has become a regular occurrence due to disturbances involving many questionable individuals. Moreover, it is disappointing to see a lack of enforcement when it comes to the rules of the pool area, as many residents disregard them without any repercussions. Ultimately, I felt so unsafe and uncomfortable that I had to terminate my lease early. Now they're trying to rip me off on fees and "additional" rent. I cannot recommend this place to anyone looking for a secure and pleasant living environment. Save yourself the trouble and look elsewhere.

In this last month, however, Camden Visconti management has failed miserably at handling our noise complaints caused by the upstairs tenant for the past 7 months, coincidentally and very unfortunately right after we had just signed our lease for an additional 15 months. Noise complaints are a very big issue in this community. First, I will say that whenever we have gone into the office to make a complaint or share our frustrations, this is in addition to the required videos sent to prove the noise is happening, we have never been able to speak to a manager because there is never one 'available'. Our recent email was never even acknowledged or responded to by the new manager. I presume the reason for that is because the tenant is allegedly moving, so it seems there is no need to be professional or courteous with your current lease holding tenant and respond to their email when it 'doesn't matter anymore', problem solved in their eyes. I came upon the fact that the tenant is moving only because I happened to see on the site that the apartment is becoming available in the next few months, not because someone actually called us to inform us and when I went in to the office to inquire if they were in fact moving, I was told; 'Yep!, you won.' by the leasing consultant and was left with the very disappointing impression that they felt we were the bad guys. I wasn't aware Camden considers noise complaints to be a contest with the prize being that now we will be on our own for however long in dealing with a vindictive and spiteful upstairs tenant until they leave the premises. The noise level has gotten exponentially worse, especially during quiet hours and we are now allowed maybe 6 hours of quiet time if lucky during the night. Who needs sleep, right?!?!?! So, think twice when picking a floor to inhabit if you decide to join this community or perhaps if you are adventuresome, be ready for the squid games, Camden Visconti version, where they will ultimately be the only winners.
