I have very severe asthma. I went there on the recommendation of my pulmonologist at Arizona…read morePulmonary Specialists. I originally started out going to an asthma doctor in Illinois who was an allergy and immunology specialist for one of premier medical schools in Chicago. When I moved to Phoenix in 1996, I used an allergist my doctor in Illinois recommended. After 4 years, my allergist moved to Las Vegas. He suggested Arizona Pulmonary. I've been with them since 1999. I have been taking Fasenra since 7/2020, and my asthma dramatically improved. I even lost 180 lbs from not having to be on prednisone except if I got sick. Everything was great, I looked and felt terrific, until the Fasenra stopped working about 18 months ago. It wasn't sudden, but noticeable. My breathing got worse. I was wheezing and coughing more, which I blamed on a month-long stay in the hospital in 1/2023 due to double pneumonia. Nope. It continued to go downhill then finally dropped off a cliff. I was put back on high dose steroids, which triggered me eating everything in sight and at night, causing me to gain 55 lbs. I was taken off the Fasenra completely in February of 2025. I was put on a trial of Dupixant in late March, which worked great for my breathing almost immediately, but gave me every side effect in the book, also almost immediately, too. It was so damn frustrating. My doctor there, Dr. Mason, felt Dr. Manning might be helpful because he didn't want me to fail the last medication available, Tespire. Perhaps there was a systemic allergic response he could avert? I went there not expecting a lot. Wow-was I wrong!! The people in the office were friendly and welcoming. The doctor, Dr Manning, was amazing. I could even imagine myself going to him for my asthma if anything happened to Dr. Mason to make him leave the valley (as my last doctor there had done a few years ago. In all, I'm very pleased with the care I received from Dr Manning. I'm hoping he can get to the bottom of the allergic reaction I had to the medication and, perhaps, the downward turn my asthma has taken in the last 18 months.

The doctor and injection staff at Allergy, Asthma & Immunology Associates (the Scottsdale location…read moreoff Shea) have been great, and the treatment process itself has been convenient and well organized. Unfortunately, the billing department has been a completely different experience. "Incompetent" is the best word I can use to describe what I have experienced. I paid in full, upfront, for my entire allergy shot treatment plan as an out-of-pocket patient. I even received a discount for paying in full. Although at this point, I'm not sure it was worth the hassle. I have a receipt confirming payment in full, and the office has verified multiple times that my balance was satisfied. Despite this, I have continued receiving invoices for charges I do not owe - NINE so far and counting. I was also told several times that someone would call me back to confirm the issue was resolved, but no one ever has. They have had over a month since the first call and weeks since the second and third. At this point, I wish I could bill them for the amount of time I've spent dealing with their mistakes. I have contacted the billing department THREE separate times and was assured every time that the incorrect charges would be removed. Nothing was corrected, and I received yet another bill today. When I attempted to call for a fourth time, their automated system disconnected me. It is incredibly frustrating to repeatedly deal with billing errors after paying a substantial amount of money upfront and being told multiple times that the issue had been resolved. Great medical care is important, but competent billing and basic follow-through matter too. This ultimately comes down to honesty, integrity, accountability, and competence. Five stars for the doctor and the injection schedule. One star for billing. Management seriously needs to address this department.

The form allows them to automatically charge whatever insurance does not cover directly to the card on file. In our case, we never received a bill or invoice from the clinic before the charge appeared on our card. When we called to ask about it, we were told they rely on the Explanation of Benefits (EOB) from insurance as the "notice" and that they do not send bills before charging the card. This was surprising because the EOB itself clearly states to wait for a bill from the provider before paying. Most medical practices send a statement or invoice first so patients can review the charges. It also seems risky to rely solely on insurance EOBs as notification, since insurance companies are not always timely with mailing them and mail can easily be delayed or lost. Interestingly, the clinic was able to send an email thanking us for the payment after the charge was processed, but no communication or billing statement beforehand. Additionally, when I called to ask about the charge, the staff discussed my husband's billing information with me without verifying who I was. I personally do have permission from my husband to discuss his account, but they never asked for my name or confirmed that authorization, which raises concerns about how patient information is being verified before it's shared. While this may technically be allowed under their authorization form, it can still be very unexpected for patients who assume they will receive a bill from the provider before any charge is processed. I would recommend carefully reviewing their financial agreement and monitoring your insurance EOBs closely if you choose to be seen here.

Every 2-3 weeks like clockwork, I receive yet another bill and a scary collection letter threatening my credit, even though I've called their office dozens of times, provided my credit card on file for auto-payments (multiple times), confirmed charges were processed, and received apologies each time: "We'll note it in your account and stop this." Spoiler: they never do. It's been the same cycle for three straight years -- pay the supposed balance, get assurances it's fixed, then boom, another collection notice arrives stressing me out and making me question if my payments are even being applied correctly. I've double-paid certain charges just to make it stop, but the letters keep coming anyway. This isn't "poor customer service"; it's incompetent, harassing, and makes you feel like a deadbeat when you're not.

I did these things because I had a great relationship with Dr. Erdos. He is kind, supportive, thorough and listened to all of my feedback about my care and the runnings of the practice. He was a fabulous partner is diagnosing and helping me manage a complex immune disease. At one point, he put me in contact with the CEO so I could help her troubleshoot where things were going wrong with patient communication. This year, things went even more downhill. I stopped getting calls back. Out of six phone calls, ONE was returned. I left multiple messages to get them to send the prescription that I needed. I left multiple phone calls about the patient portal that was broken and never heard from anyone. After I decided to seek care elsewhere, they contacted me to see how I was tolerating the new medication! The medication that they never sent in! And the person who called me referenced a note from a doctor that I do not and have never seen. I physically went there to get a copy of the prescription and then magically, the pharmacy received it! All of this further validated my decision to leave. I shouldn't have to work this hard. Neither should you.
