Been about a month after my surgery and I haven't been able to contact or pay my Anesthesiology bill processed by my insurance. A bit worried here as calling them leads to a dead phone number that automatically hangs up and the website linked on Google and Yelp leads me to an inactive site that tries to install some scammy-looking apps. Called my hospital, Banner Health and my ENT and nobody knows how to reach these guys. Sad because my anesthesiologist was pretty friendly and knowledgeable but the billing support and communication needs to be way better. Update: Did some digging and found out they use a 3rd party called Envision Physician Services though I still can't reach anyone or see my bill. As of today 5/28/2024 I have pins and needles feeling in my leg down to my toes. My foot feels tight and throbs. I am unable to walk barefoot, the pain is too intense. I can walk on it, but need a shoe that has cushion in the sole. I called the Anesthesiologists office, I was told to call my doctor. I am speaking to their billing practices and not their anesthesiology practices: Be warned - if you are working with them make sure you get an itemized bill ASAP after surgery. They NEVER sent me a bill but sent me straight to collections. I called their office (it took forever to get someone on the phone - I kept getting put on hold and then disconnected). They were not able to help or send me the original bill detailing why I would have additional charges so I have the dispute the charge with the collections agency. Just received a bill for November 2019. States it will go to collections because it is past due. Never received a bill before this. Have been to the office and paid at the office as seen, before and after the dates specified on the bill. The office never said we had a balance. Wonder if we even had an appt. those days they say. I have received numerous bills from PCH, but nothing from Valley Anesthesiology. Then today, I receive a phone call for payment from a debt collector who wanted payment over the phone. My son had emergency surgery in November at Phoenix Children's Hospital. I heard nothing regarding this anesthesia bill until June, 7 months later. (all other doctors or labs sent bill to our home, so we knew what to expect when dealing with our insurance company). I tried to call and speak to someone about this bill that seemed to have come out of no where. I was waiting for someone to answer for 20 minutes. I had to leave and hung up. We never received another bill and I forgot to call back. 7 weeks later I started getting calls from a shady collections agency. I immediately called again and waited over 20 minutes for someone to answer the phone. I explained my situation and they said they had sent 3 notices and it then automatically gets sent to collections. I let her know that I had only received one and that we should have received some sort of notification shortly after the surgery that we were being billed and what the bill was for. She didn't have any response. I researched this company, which has absolutely horrible customer service and reviews and also the collections agency, Frost-Arnett, which had tons of complaints of shady collections practices. I will be contacting Phoenix Children's Hospital to report my experience and my findings. I have similar feedback to everyone else. We received sketchy text messages asking for payment. I called them and asked to have feedback bubbled up to management that they wouldn't get paid until I could see an itemized statement. Just as others have stated, they claimed that they sent out a paper bill. I explained to them that there may be an issue in their system, because we hadn't received a bill. Additionally, I shared that others online haven't received their bills and have had issues with the process. I was told that texting bills was an upgrade to their technology and that many companies will be adopting this practice. We ended up getting the bill e-mailed to us. After reviewing the bill, I called in again to pay. I was given the same responses to my feedback.Unfortunately, the entire process is a disappointing customer experience. read more

Not to be a cynic, but like many doctors there is a gulf between billing and the doctors. Their 3rd party billing company Physician Office Partners has no accountability & Valley Anesthesiology hides behind them. You literally can't talk to anyone with the ability to make billing decisions. Frequently, you don't have a choice when you get an anesthesiologist, so I'm not sure why things will ever change, but it is disappointing. read more

Dealing with this company was an absolute nightmare! I have experienced almost everything that previous reviewers have already commented on. They've sent multiple bills to collection without notification. When I asked about this practice I was told, "You should know that you're responsible for paying your medical bills on time". I have received multiple incorrect statements that were the result of corrections being made after sending the statements, but no follow-up correspondence was sent/received. I had one bill where they stated my insurance was declined because I was not covered. After speaking to them and my insurance company for hours, we figured out that they had the wrong billing information. Which made no sense because my previous bills, had been billed with no incident. The strong majority of the representatives are completely rude and it is obvious that you are an inconvenience to them. As of today, I have settled all of my accounts in full. Or at least that was what I was told (after verifying in excruciating detail with the representative). Reading the rest of these reviews though, I don't have a lot of hope that this ordeal is actually over. Basically, if you have to deal with these people, keep everything they have ever sent. Every bill, ever receipt, every electronic form of communication. EVERYTHING! Keep it for years because this company is completely unethical and will try to screw you. Haven't paid the bill they said was for me because my child never had any surgery nor pain medication offered during the visit or as a follow-up. Billing is clearly an issue for this practice and needs to be rectified. Received a collection notice from a 3rd party for service in 2015. Called 2 months ago. I was told the primary insurance overpaid, secondary insurance didn't pay the difference because of overpayment, and of course I never saw a bill in 2015/2016, and was told they'd fix it. Credit report now shows a delinquency. Called back their billing dept and was told the person I spoke to didn't leave any notes and now they need to talk to their lead person to figure out what to do. Mind you there's another date of service with the same issue of overpayment by the primary insurance and secondary refused to pay the difference and a balance is sitting there ... from 2016. And they need to figure out what to do with that now. Two services, one from 2015 and 2016 just sitting there. read more

I had eye surgery and Dr. Betsy Kantor made sure I suffered for the two hour surgery. She was distracted and ignored my pleas for more medication. The surgeon said she was distracted and did not fulfill her obligation to keep me comfortable. She gets paid whether she does anything or not. I can not reach anyone at the office and no one calls you back when you have questions. read more

Absolutely HORRID!! After receiving a treatment for my head and back, I received a phone call from the doctor telling me my urine test came back positive for heroin, meth, and a host of other drugs. I haven't touched drugs since 1999 (I have always been very honest about my previous drug use), but he didn't care. We were done and that was that. But then he had to go and call my primary care doctor and let him in on that fact. I later found out that they have done this exact thing to other people Do yourself a favor. services in july 2023. as prior mentioned, complaint in the majority, rinse and repeat. no issue with the care received, a-plus. the billing, holy...completely the opposite. never received a single bill. actually held off using fsa card for the rest of the year to ensure funds for the patient portion that was expected after checking the eob - claim finished processing by september, so they received their payment from insurance. did not actually receive anything regarding who/how to pay until the collection letter showed up. in december. beyond aggravating when aware and know of the bill, but apparently responsibility is on patients to chase the provider down and throw money at them. will be careful to know exactly what providers will be participating in any future services and expressly request this group not be involved in any care. might get them to fix a years long, broken billing system... read more

One Star only because I can not give less that one. Billing practices for this organization are horrible. Multiple bills are sent out for the same date of service 1 or 2 weeks apart. One bill was paid by VISA and 20 months later it was turned over to a collection agency for non payment. I called them and after several calls they admitted the bill was never sent out. Record keeping is very poor at best and takes them forever to correct issues. On one occasion a bill was overpaid and it took 3 plus months to get a refund. I had to cancel an appointment 2 days before the actual appointment and I was billed as seeing my doctor on that canceled date. I left Valley Pain Management and went to another doctor specifically for these reasons. If you do use the doctors at Valley Pain Management KEEP ALL payment, appointment records and statements. Get paid in full statements from them. Keep your records for 2 plus years. read more

(This Review follows other "1*" reviews regarding their billing tactics, NOT the Anesthesiologist's care. Beware of Arrowhead Collections as well) Similar thing happened to me in that my bill was paid in full, then 2 years later out of the blue, I receive a phone call from this company. I let them know there must be a mistake. I happened to still have my records in which it showed I was a cash patient paying in full, receipts included. I called after she received it, and she said that was fine. A year later, I get another call out of the blue, same thing, different person. Again they receive the information and try to insist I received insurance payment, and that they should receive that. I assured them this was a cash case, as I once again scanned and emailed to them all the paperwork and receipts. Including where it states that it was a cash pay case. I thought everything was done and settled. About one year later and about 3 years after the services, another random call. Seriously?! The cycle repeats itself. Low and behold 7 months later (now 4 years since service), it pops up on my credit report. Even after they received the info showing paid in full for cash pay services, and saying ok. Not once have I never received a bill from the company, just the random calls in which the proof of the "paid in full cash case" was emailed to them. What a time consuming harassing ordeal. I've heard through the years others have gone through similar unjust treatment. Beware of Valley Anesthesia and Arrowhead billing tactics! Keep all your receipts for years because they'll call out of no where one day and say you owe them. Yep, they managed to lower my credit score. Terrible company. Please ask your surgeon who will provide anesthesia for your case and then THINK TWICE if they say Valley Anesthesiology Consultants. We were self-pay and tried to get information prior to the surgery for costs of anesthesia. We wanted to pre-pay. We were verbally quoted $400-500 but told we would be billed post-operatively. That "bill" finally came and it was $1024. BUT, we are not receiving paper bills...only text messages. I have called the office three times to try to resolve this. The reps will not let me speak to a supervisor. They say supervisors do not deal with customers. Reps are extremely rude and cast blame back on the consumer. They never call me back with any determination and I am forced to call again. read more

Had surgery at Banner Gateway Medical center back in October 2021 and was told since it was preventative care that it was covered 100 percent from my insurance. (I understand that the anesthesiologist bills separately) but was still surprised when I recieved a bill in March that I owed 1,200 from Valley Anesthesiology Consultants Inc. I thought it wasn't right but nobody would listen and I paid 300 right away to get them off my back. Within 2 weeks got another bill that I would be sent to collections and my remaining amount was due immediately. After figuring everything out my insurance paid the total and I called them to get a refund on the 300 I paid and they told me they sent the request and that they were behind on refunds and I wouldn't receive one for 8 weeks! They expect me to wait that long but they were willing to send me to collections after two weeks! It's too bad I can't send them to collections for what they owe me. If they are behind on that many refunds seems like something is not right in their billing department. Just saying, seems a little fishy to me. Not even sure why it took them almost 6 months to even send me a bill to begin with. read more

We recently received our statement for service as we expected. I called to see if the bill was a paid in full. The person on the other line explained no ($206) was what I received and started to almost "sell me" on how much I saved as the dr shared the duties with a nurse so was cut in half. I advised rep I was not calling for that but wanted to know why my statement was not a full statement. She advised our insurance sent them first check and they received this 7/8, sent my statement out 7/9 and they received the second check 7/12. Basically they could not wait 3 days to receive second check from my insurance to send out a full statement. Asked to be transferred to a supervisor to get some further detail...was asked if they could call me back later, I said i would like to get this resolved now. Supervisor got on the call, seemed stressed and said I have about 5 other things going on and this of course made me feel special being 6th on his list. Basically they will send you bills the next day they receive money from your insurance but this bill is not a full bill. I'd be cautious calling as they seem overworked and understaffed as my situation they almost seemed to get frustrated with me I was asking and they deal with this often it seems like. Fraud. This company just slapped something from 2014 that they never billed my ins for on my January 2020 credit!! My son had surgery in 2014. Everyone got paid through my insurance, but for some reason months and months later I got a collection letter in reference to this company. I called them and said this is ridiculous how did you not get paid but everyone else did. I told them it was an error and they needed to get it corrected through Cigna. Ok so yeeears later I get another collection letter, I am angry call and ask them what their problem is, I have already explained this to them. I go a step further and call Cigna and ask them about this bill. They were never billed by this company. I called this company to correct this no return call or email as promised. The fact that Phoenix Children's Hospital is still using this service after all of these complaints is a horrible reflection on the hospital. read more

Unfortunately this is the only Anesthesiologist company for most hospitals so there's no choice in this 3rd party billing situation. Collections refused to tell the company I already paid and kept calling at least once a week for over 6mos, demanding money already paid. Called Valley Anesthesiologists multiple times including the managers to explain collections won't call them and they told me they wouldn't call collections because "that's not how it works". Because of problems with collections and kept receiving a bill, I thought surely I must not have finished paying the bill so I starting sending payments to Valley Anesthesiologists themselves which apparently confused them horribly. Well, now they owe me $90 and for the last 2yrs at that. Apparently everyone I spoke with, that I heard and was was told they're typing my detailed notes and admitting they owed me $90 after spending hrs with them going over all my bank account tracking checks to them, no one called back, none of them now work there and shocker!...there's no notes on my account. Not ONE!! 2 yrs of calling!! Told them all companies have accountant firms which if they did their job right, would have seen I overpaid. This has always happened 100% with all companies I've dealt with, they notice overpayments and send checks out year end. Told them today that this is fraud and their accountant firm is committing fraud. Shocker.... New manager was in a call and couldn't talk to me. Let's see if she calls me back. They've NEVER called me even after being told I'd receive a call within 24-48hrs by the managers and reps. I want my money!! My review has nothing to do with the care I received. My anesthesiologist was great. I'm very upset about their billing practices. I paid for my services the day of my surgery; not knowing this did not include anesthesiology. I never received a bill; not one. Not ever. This weekend I received a bill from a COLLECTION agency stating I had not paid my bill and it would affect my credit score. Of course, I immediately called Valley Anesthesiology this morning. I was informed they had sent me 4 bills, but all had been returned because they had my WRONG address. Rather than pick up a phone and just call me to get my address..they sent me to collections. The girl's excuse was they are TOO BIG of a company to verify addresses; so they automatically submit them to collections. Horrifying...when I looked at the address the collection agency used, it was not only ALSO WRONG, it was completely different from the one VAC had used. Thankfully, my mail carrier knew my name and got it to me. Of course, I paid my bill immediately, but clearly, my credit is of no importance to these people. Poor business practices leave clients at risk for no reason other than laziness in verifying an address; which they could have done with a quick phone call, or a call to my physician.
