Outstanding medical staff, but facilities and one unprofessional nurse left room for improvement…read more My wife Nikki and I recently had a 4-day stay at Stanford Tri-Valley to welcome our first child, our daughter Oraya Rose. From the moment we walked in, the staff was incredibly accommodating, starting with Jeanette at the front desk who gave us a warm welcome and a smooth check-in. The Medical & Nursing Team We cannot say enough good things about our doctors. Dr. Veeragandham (our delivering doctor) and Dr. Chandler (who cared for my wife in the days prior) were the most comforting and phenomenal doctors we've ever experienced. You can truly tell they care deeply about their jobs and their patients. Dr. Sanders, who discharged us, was also fantastic; he kindly expedited our release knowing we were exhausted from the small post-labor room and just wanted to head home. Throughout our long stay, we were supported by an army of wonderful nurses who checked in frequently to ensure we had a pleasant stay. We want to thank Kelly, Michelle, Chayenne, Stacia, Suzanne, Elizabeth, Maddie, Tricia, Deanna, Liz, Rachelle, Noelle, and Ranjita. We also want to give a special shoutout to Aaliyah, who was immensely helpful with my wife's labor exercises early on. Our absolute standout was our delivering nurse, Shinika (who we understand is a traveling nurse). She is a tremendous asset to the Stanford team! Her guidance and support were instrumental--she coached my wife so well that she was able to push the baby out in under 35 minutes. Constructive Feedback & Areas for Improvement Unfortunately, we did have a highly negative interaction with another nurse, Jen, who was in the room during delivery. There was palpable tension and attitude from Jen directed at Shinika. Even worse, while my wife was actively pushing, Jen abruptly announced, "The baby's heart rate is dropping." This caught us completely off guard, caused unnecessary panic, and disrupted my wife's focus. Thankfully, Shinika and Dr. Veeragandham immediately reassured us that everything was fine, and even the other staff in the room looked at Jen in confusion regarding what she was doing. We brought this up to the Assistant Nurse Manager, Joseph, but I am reiterating it here so Jen can be properly trained. If there is an urgent matter, it needs to be communicated professionally with the doctor, not blurted out to terrify a mother actively pushing out a baby. Facilities & Amenities The rooms were okay, but felt outdated and small compared to LPCH. Additionally, we were promised a celebratory meal once the baby was born, but we never received it. We were really looking forward to that after such a long and grueling hospital stay. Another suggestion for the hospital would be to add a community kitchen or hydration station for families. We felt terrible repeatedly asking the busy nurses for water and snacks. We didn't want to treat the medical staff like room service knowing they have far more important duties, so it got to the point where I just left the hospital to buy supplies at a store. Overall, the incredible medical care and nursing support made our experience a positive one despite the hiccups. Thank you to Dr. Veeragandham, Shinika, and the rest of the amazing team for bringing our daughter safely into the world! In the future, however, we will likely aim for a delivery at LPCH for a more modern feel and comfortable space within the same network.

What a great experience from start to finish (minus needing surgery, but you know what I mean). Everyone from the pre-op nurse who calmed my anxiety (whose name is escaping me), to Doctors Harris, Ochalek and Singh (and the rest of their surgery team) were amazing. The last thing I remember was having a nice conversation with Dr. Singh about the niners before gently waking up after surgery. They all really made the surgery as comfortable as it could possibly be. My post op experience was second to none. I had a wonderful recovery nurse who told me all about her kids (if anyone can verify her name, I'd appreciate it!) and then was moved up to a private room where Katie took over my care. She was the absolute best nurse I've ever had. She was attentive, kind and went out of her way to get anything I (or my partner) needed. She transferred care to our night nurse (who was great, but I was asleep most of the night), but promised to come check on us the next day when she got back into work. We really felt cared for and comfortable with Katie and thank her for the level of care she provided. If there's a way to recommend nurses, she'd be at the top of the list! Diane was our nurse the next morning, and she was awesome. We got super lucky with her because even though it was crazy busy that morning, she went out of her way to make sure we always had everything we needed. She was kind, attentive and we could tell she was running around trying to take care of 10 people at once (and doing a great job at it). We talked everything from travel to traffic and you definitely made the morning after surgery much more bearable. All in all, about the best experience I could have asked for. For the nurses whose name's I have forgotten, I'm sorry! I was out of it for a while with anesthesia, meds, etc. and there were a lot of you helping. You were all great and very much appreciated. If I ever need to go back into surgery, I'm definitely coming back here. Thanks again. Kevin and Monica

Absolutely the worst ER if you have a serious emergency. I broke my clavicle during a bike ride as…read moresoon as I got there they were very focused on getting the insurance information. I was not even offered a sling a bed or a painkiller for two hours. I can hear the nurses laughing and giggling, while I waited and the waiting room they finally took me in and they brought an extreme machine to take x-rays, but after that I was sitting on the wheelchair for the longest time without a sling or Support they finally moved me back to the waiting room citing that they don't have any beds available. They also told me I need a surgery due to a compound clavicle fracture, but I had to wait till Monday and call the Doctor not to mention today is Monday and I can't even get a hold of the doctor or anyone of the doctors staff @ Bass medical group. They hadn't even cleaned my skin lacerations. My wife noticed it when she helped me take a bath. Dr. Bahzadi staff never returned the call. Supposedly Megan is the surgery coordinator, but she can't return calls or email . God forbid if you have an emergency like me! Worst care I have ever received!

By far the worst patient care I've ever experienced. I'd be switching to a different provider…read moreduring next open enrollment. In one instance, I was waiting for interpretation of important test results related to my health. Instead of receiving an explanation of the results and guidance on next steps, I was told to contact another department myself. Patients should not have to act as intermediaries between Kaiser providers and departments to get answers about tests that Kaiser ordered. In another instance, I sent a message to my primary care physician and received a response from a nurse stating that the doctor was out of the office and that if I wanted an answer, I should resend my message after the doctor returned. I found this completely unreasonable. Why is it the patient's responsibility to keep resending the same message until it happens to reach a doctor at the right time? Messages should either be held for the physician upon return or routed appropriately within the care team. The recurring issue is a lack of ownership. Ordering tests is only part of patient care. Following up with results, explaining what they mean, and providing next steps are equally important. Patients should not have to repeatedly chase down information or navigate internal communication gaps on their own. I expect better coordination and accountability from a healthcare organization of this size.

We don't go to hospital to enjoy ourselves unfortunately most of the time you or someone you know is not in good shape. You need to learn that setting needs a lot of comforting, caring, patient and helpful. The hospital it self is not very clean. The air vents are dirty needs to be cleaned. The floors need to be mopped. I will take some pictures for example. Please be more compassionate and understanding. Clean the place up and teach all employees to be more courteous and helpful even when someone calls and they sound loud. It's ok and understand their situation. Keep your patients clean after they go bathroom. Don't leave them for 20-30 minutes dirty. Don't know what else to say because I am angry and will start cursing. PLEASE WAKE UP AND LOOK AROUND AND FIX AND CLEAN .

I am writing to express my concern about my recent experience at the Kaiser Emergency Department…read more The wait times are extremely long, often lasting 4-5 hours before being seen by a provider. What is particularly frustrating is that there are times when the waiting area appears nearly empty or has very few patients, yet patients are still left waiting for several hours without any clear explanation or updates. In addition, I was disappointed with the level of customer service I received. Staff members were not communicative about delays, and it was difficult to get information about the status of my visit. As a patient seeking emergency care, this lack of communication and support added unnecessary stress to an already difficult situation. I understand that emergency departments can be busy and that patient care is prioritized based on medical urgency. However, better communication, transparency about wait times, and improved customer service would greatly improve the patient experience. I would appreciate it if this feedback could be reviewed and addressed to help improve care for patients in the future. Thank you for your time and attention to this matter.
