Special thanks for Dr Kankipanti, nurse Kay for everything that they did from day one as I was treated as a family, not a patient.

When she sat down with my husband and me to go over the recommended treatment, she jotted down the key points on a piece of paper. Looking back I realize how important that was. I never would have been able to recall the treatment plan (much less spell all those medical terms) without her assistance. Her presentation was calm and confident. It was her confidence and soft spoken demeanor that put me at ease. At the end of our first meeting, she shared a meditation app that she uses. I decided to download and use the app and I'm so glad that I did. On top of helping me find much needed calm during my treatment, a happy coincidence was that she used the app to play music during surgery. Hearing the familiar music made me smile and gave me an extra boost of calm going into surgery. Dr. Le-Tran is an excellent surgeon. My trust in her was well-placed. I look at my breast today in awe and wonder--that diseased tissue was removed so cleanly and what a relief to know the boundaries were clear. I was impressed with Dr. Le-Tran's work on my breast but I was asleep when it happened. I was awake when she removed my port and--wow!--what a relief. I didn't feel anything after the numbing medication. In fact, I didn't even know it was out until she asked if I wanted to see it. She distracted me with friendly chatter about Thanksgiving. For the care she provided I will forever be grateful!

Dr. Lee had a very cool attitude towards me after he looked at my passed records. He knew I wasn't one of his regular patients, even though my other gastro Dr. said he was the one that did my gallbladder surgery. Had no record of it!! He couldn't help me at all. He just recommended a pain management group who I have already seen, and would NOT see again. This pain group asked me to order a special pill that I've never heard of and that was out of state, pretty expensive AND not covered by insurance. Not sounding to normal to me at all. Dr. Lee really didn't seem interested in helping me at all. The visit was a waste of time and very disappointing.

My husband mentioned a painful bodily issue I had experienced and Dr. Lee completely cut him off. He was somewhat dismissive regarding my pain issues following surgery done by Dat Tien Nguyen. He commented that I should simply be happy that the two breast lumps were not cancerous and basically to get over it; meaning the injuries and pain. I told him I was grateful the lumps were not cancerous, yet my pain was unbearable and I had blood oozing from my nipple. After he saw the blood coming out of my nipple he seemed to understand my pain and issues were legit. He did order blood work and an ultrasound, which was good. He reaffirmed what other pain specialists had told me; the nerve damage suffered during Nguyen's surgery would be with me for life. The nerve pain was and IS in my breast and runs down into my ribs. I told Dr. Lee I had seen Dr. Peter Wong at Tri Valley Physicians about a week prior to my visit with him. I told him Dr. Wong prescribed an antibiotic for an infection, which I soon learned I did not have. Dr. Lee also reaffirmed that patients should not be treated with antibiotics if they do not have an infection; as was my case. Keep that in mind folks; be certain you actually DO have an infection before being treated for an infection. I had the ultrasound performed, yet wasn't called with the results as promised. I called his office and an employee, Frida took my message regarding the test results. Frida (hope I am spelling her name correctly) was a gem. She is a nice lady, compassionate and very professional. She gave Dr. Lee my message, yet he still failed to call with the test results. I called again the following day, as I'd been waiting on pins and needles for the test results. Frida said my test results were setting on his desk and had been for a couple days. I could tell she was frustrated too that he had not yet called me. Finally, Dr. Lee did call with the test results, yet he did not speak to me. Instead he left very detailed, private medical testing information on my answering machine. I was livid when I retrieved the message. I called him and expressed being angered by him leaving the detailed testing results on my answering machine for my children to hear and he did not care. ...HIPAA violation. You guessed it, another doctor added to the "Do Not Recommend" list. Sadly, that list has become very long.

I'm a bigger lady and, because of that, need the bigger blood pressure cuff. The woman who took my blood pressure in the office used a small blood pressure cuff, causing a false reading of high blood pressure because it was severely constricting my arm. When I mentioned to her that I'm just fat but don't have high blood pressure, she just shrugged me off and told me to go to my doctor every few days to have my blood pressure checked leading up to the surgery. My doctor, being an actual medical professional, took my blood pressure correctly and determined that I did not have high blood pressure and immediately questioned if the woman that attempted to first take my blood pressure was even a doctor. Hilarious, inconvenient, but ultimately no big deal. My surgery date came and went and I immediately noticed afterward that I was having issues holding my pee. I mentioned this to the "medical" staff at Dr Stompro's office and they informed me that this is normal after surgery and that it should go away with time. When it didn't, I brought it up again and one of the "medical" staff at Dr. Stompro's office pointed out that it may be because of weakness in my abdomen or because of fat putting pressure on my bladder?? I don't know, whatever. So I continue on. I ignored it, I tried to treat it, and here we are. Y'all, I'm THREE YEARS past the surgery and I'm not even 30 and I'm still incontinent from this surgery. I've gone to a urologist that was too fat-phobic to even try to diagnose me, a physical therapist that figured it had to be because my pelvic floor was weak (then she determined it isn't), and another specialist that has finally determined that it may be a nerve issue (further testing needed). All we know is that I wasn't incontinent before the surgery and I am now. I called Dr. Stompro's office recently for the paperwork associated with my surgery so that I can pass it along to the specialist to see if it helps to determine a cause of the incontinence (and thus a fix) and the front desk person was rude for no reason?? I think she assumed I was getting the paperwork to sue?? I'm sure they all know I would have been able to sue because, and I cannot express this enough, INCONTINENCE IS NOT AN EXPECTED OUTCOME FOR LIPOSUCTION. Look, if I weren't outside of the statute of limitations I WOULD sue but, since I am, I just want to stop being incontinent. I'm still fat after my liposuction, which I don't mind! I'm soft and shapely and I love that, I just want to stop peeing on myself randomly. I'm now leaving reviews everywhere and filing a complaint against this office - I spent nearly $15,000 to be incontinent for potentially the rest of my life. I'd recommend another office, another doctor, another everything.

A Bureaucratic, Inaccessible System That Wastes Patients' Time…read more Many Sutter Health specialists are housed at this facility. I cannot understand what benefit these doctors see in making themselves so inaccessible to patients, including those with excellent insurance and the ability to pay for care. There are serious problems with this system, yet upper management appears either unaware of them or unconcerned. The fact that a healthcare organization can create this many barriers for patients and remain highly profitable is deeply disturbing for those of us who have busy lives and still got to work to make a decent living. It represents much of what is wrong with healthcare administration in California. Here's the story: We simply wanted to schedule an appointment with one of their speciality departments. The ordeal consumed approximately 35 minutes in the middle of a busy workday, and we still did not receive an appointment. First, the appointments could not be scheduled online even though we have worked with Sutter in the past. The online scheduling system forced us to make a phone call on a workday. The first five minutes were then wasted dealing with Sutter Health's robotic assistant, which was terrible and repeatedly failed to understand what I was saying. Even after requesting a live agent, the system continued to badger me with more questions before finally transferring the call. The live agent was pleasant, but the registration process took another 15 to 20 minutes and included an impressive collection of questions that had little to do with scheduling a specialist appointment. Management is welcome to review the recorded call. Short of asking for my plumber's current whereabouts or whether I had remodeled my kitchen in the past five years, they seemed determined to conduct a full census of my life before allowing me anywhere near the information about my doctor's availability. Did I need a wheelchair? Did I live in a long-term-care facility? Was my insurance provided through my employer? Did I work full-time or part-time? I was busy and calling for one simple reason: to make an appointment. Ask for my insurance card number and Date of Birth, should take less than five minutes and still get them what they need. Instead, Sutter has apparently decided that wasting patients' time is cheaper than hiring enough competent staff to obtain information already available through an insurance card. One has to wonder whether the system is truly underfunded or whether its priorities simply lie somewhere closer to the executive suite than the patient waiting room. The call was finally transferred to the specialty department, where a curt and patronizing representative explained that the office requires a "faxed" referral (like they are in the ninteenth century), along with recent bloodwork and physicians' notes. After the fax is received, we can apparently expect or basically "hope" that someone calls us. If no one calls, we are expected to call back and ask what happened. But there is no direct telephone number for the specialty department. That means going through the same malfunctioning robot and the entire general scheduling process again, potentially wasting another 20 to 30 minutes of a working person's day. How is this an acceptable or productive process for requesting a basic medical appointment? To make matters worse, many of their physicians are not accepting new patients. In my experience, the access problem here is substantially worse than at other healthcare systems. Stanford Health Valley Care, for example, provides a much more functional patient experience through a MyHealth account and their records are in the system, they generally do not have to overcome this many administrative hurdles or give a referral to seek speciality care. Having excellent PPO insurance that tells me referrals are not needed and the ability to pay should not be irrelevant because an institution has built a wall of bureaucracy between its physicians and its patients. This is not patient-centered healthcare and this is absolutely not a doctor centered healthcare either. It is an administrative obstacle course. The doctors that work here should know better than to work with them.
