I stopped by to tour this facility looking for consistent in house care for acute rehab for my mother who was discharged after suffering a stroke. 1. No one acknowledged me outside of patients in the lobby. They looked happy which is why I gave three stars. I'm assuming these were patients waiting to go home. 2. I found a nurses station with a nurse sitting at the desk at the very end of the hallway and boy was she unhappy at work. She was very rude. That was a huge red flag. When families come here they want to see the staff as happy as they can be because for some families this is their loved one's last stop. 3. I received a small tour which was very informative. *they don't have a contract with Kaiser. *they do have a contract with contra costa health plan *OT, PT, SLP don't work on weekends *Rehab is based on insurance coverage from what I was told. They will not give your loved one five days a week rehab although they're paid for everyday your loved one is there. My loved one is there for rehab everyday they're there not to enjoy the scene. I decided to move forward with an acute outpatient rehab and they're doing amazing with much more equipment. read more

Im a caregiver and have a male client here who's 92. Although he's getting adequate care, the facility is old and needs a facelift. The dining hall isn't quite large enough with all the patients and wheel chairs. I wanted to get him up and an orderly helped right away and placed him in his wheelchair ( no easy task) He's now able to walk the length of the hall with assistance but shuffling along I intend to see him tomorrow. The staff is amazing. The care is always available and compationate. The CNAs go beyond the prescribed care. I was there the first for a month the second time I was there a week. I would have had a hard time staying there alone however the staff opened up to me and it was smooth sailing from there on. read more

During my husband's rehab here he said he felt cared for, protected and safe. The entire staff really care about the patient. They are very well staffed. He made tremendous progress working with P/T and O/T. The facility is kept clean. Activities are offered and they encourage patients to get out of their rooms to socialize and participate. it is encouraged - not mandatory. If a problem should arise, the staff members are easy to communicate with and work quickly to resolve the problem. My husband said he would definitely go back to Danville Post Acute Rehab. read more

Since my mom has been at Danville Post Acute Rehabilitation she has gotten excellent care! I have seen too many facility's in the past and they all have certain smells when walking in the building, not here. My father had a stroke and came here for rehabilitation and he really appreciated the care he received. They helped him learn to speak clearly again and he really liked the staff. He went to another facility in Walnut Creek the second time and he ended up being taken back to the hospital for a chest tube because that facility didn't notice how sick he was. When he needed to go back to a rehabilitation facility he requested Danville Post-Acute Rehab because he felt more taken care of and seen. This institution only works with protocol order to heal People. My mother had a deep bleed and we asked them to hold off on physical therapy to prolong her life as she had wished and they used me and my family to consent to physical therapy thinking they are miracle workers and went with protocol. It led to more bursts and bleeds and o believe they were in the wrong to give her physical therapy so early and Allowed the hemorrhage to get worst. She herself was not compliant and the night they gave her physical therapy she had a much more massive brain bleed which ultimately led to her death. No matter what kind of science they want to put on it. They say they acted on protocol and everything was "legal" what it wasn't was for the best interest of the patient. Be careful with post and care for your loved ones it was the most horrific experience EVER! read more

There are not enough superlatives to describe the level of care at Danville Post-Acute Rehab. Throughout my husband's stay, everyone and everything exceeded my expectations. First and foremost, they are very well staffed with caring, competent and always accessible people at all levels, from Administration to Maintenance and everyone in between. Most particularly, the CNAs and Nurses are attentive and positive, despite a difficult job. The Physical and Occupational Therapists are also excellent. The facility is clean, the food is good and the overall vibe is friendly and welcoming. I was there every day of my husband's 18 day stay and the quality was consistent. I must make special mention of Director, Leon and Assistant Nursing Director, Pia. They went to bat for me at discharge, facilitating an additional two-night stay at Danville Post-Acute when the Medical Supply Company dropped the ball on delivery of a hospital bed to the Board and Care where we were moving. Discharge without that bed was simply not an option. I am in their debt for their kindness and firm intervention with the supply company on our behalf. What could have been a nightmare, they turned into a positive, even sending Ana, one of their staff, to ride with my husband in the transport and ensure his safe transfer to the board and care. Way above and beyond! I am very grateful to everyone at Danville Post-Acute Rehab and recommend them without reservation. Five stars are not enough. read more

When I read the reviews of this facility, I find it difficult to understand the superlatives. This would be the last place I would want to have care for a loved one. The facility is greatly in need of refurbishing, remodeling, and updating. My friend was in this facility, and he shared a room (not larger than 10 x 12 with another patient, and the two were barely separated by a curtain. There was absolutely no space for more than one visitor at a time. There were no chairs for visitors except for an old metal chair housed down the hallway. It was depressing, at best. There were no welcoming greetings as one entered the facility. My friend needed assistance to use the restroom, and had to ring for help over and over before someone came. I don't know how the State of California can license this facility. read more

With aging parents we have been to most of the local nursing / rehab facilities. Danville Post Acute is by far the best. The food is good, the physical therapy is done by professionals, the staff is pleasant, they are helpful and they will treat your parents they way they deserve to be treat. I came here straight from the hospital to get physical therapy, occupational therapy and recovery from hip surgery. Everyone that works here from the janitors, CNA's, nurses, office staff, laundry staff, doctors, etc are very friendly and always have smiles on their faces. I would recommend coming here. Some serious issues here. I witnessed some unsanitary things going on here. Definitely don't want them handling anything that should be sanitary like a thermometer or medication or a syringe... It seemed like a nice place at first, but where the rubber meets the road, it leaves a lot to be desired. I don't care how shiny the dudes pants are, this sort of thing doesn't sit well with me. Maybe they have no problem when it comes to their family, but I am fiercely protective over mine. I will say that once I got them to agree with the discharge, they worked hard to get it done. If you have a choice, choose wisely and choose elsewhere. read more

For being in the middle of an upper-middle-class community where people can afford great healthcare, the quality and standards of care that I saw (in my brief time visiting a patient there) was sub-par at best. The women in charge of releasing patients alone would receive 3 stars based on my experience, they did their job and were accommodating...HOWEVER... The cleanliness and sterilization of the facility deserves ZERO stars! I saw in my 4 total hours there, the following: * No one changing gloves between patients if they even put them on * No thermometer covers (or any other sterilization procedures) were used while assessing patients' temperatures * Two rooms (4 patients) to one bathroom, WHICH - did not have toilet seat covers * Nonexistent hand washing In a facility that handles human waste and bodily fluids, hygiene and sterilization MUST be the first priority. If you want your loved ones picking up a staph infection, hepatitis or other contagion, by all means send them here. Do your own research, don't take my word for it, visit the location, watch the "nurses" carefully and make an informed decision for yourself. read more

My father stayed there twice after the hospital and I'm very thankful for all people who work there! They are really love people, especially old and in needs and care for them. This place is a hidden treasure. My 99 yr old grandma was a patient there for a full month and she was treated like she was a relative. Unbelievable service by all staff from the administration,nurses, CNA's to all the therapists. They made several adjustments for her diet. (Daily meals)The faculty is very clean and was sterile at all times. We actually had her at Stonebrooke in Concord and that faculty didn't work out and we had my grandma transferred to danville rehab center and it was a blessing in disguise. Putting a loved one in a home is a very difficult process. Danville rehab made me very comfortable and confident that we had my grandma at the best facility in the Bay Area. My wife need some rehab therapy following back surgery. The first thing I noticed was the facility didn't have the "wrong" smell that is so common in skilled nursing facilities. The staff was helpful and answered all my questions After her arrival she had some trouble adjusting to the surroundings and new faces. The staff was patient and took steps to reassure her. Virtually all the staff were great in the way they treated her. The nurses, physical and occupational therapists were all helpful. As a retired law enforcement officer I have been many different ands, Danville Post Acute Rehab outshines all others. Are they perfect, no, but they are in the top tier for sure. read more

My grandfather has been at this facility since June. The facility is quite clean. The staff and the PT team are great and quite caring. We had a vacation planned and were nervous about going, however Katrina was great in keeping us informed about my grandfather's condition. I think the fact that the facility is smaller than many facilities it is easier to get to know the staff and has a more family feel to it. We love the fact that the facility is close by so we can pop in and out on a daily basis. I have had the opportunity to see a number of other Skilled Nursing Facilities when my grandmother was still alive and some on the surface looked like great facilities, but I have to tell you that it really is about the staff that makes a facility great. It's true the place is small and been around a long time. They are in the process of doing renovations. Overall, they are doing great with what they have to work with. I think it also makes a huge difference when families are involved and take an active role with their loved one. We have never been discouraged from being involved and has welcomed our feedback. My grandfather is quite happy and contented there. read more

I have the opportunity to teach a class here with the residents once a week, and it is one of the highlights of my week, for sure. The residents are always pleasant and waiting when I get there. The staff is always kind and friendly. Stefani, the Activity's Director and Volunteer Coordinator, has been wonderful to work with. She is very responsive and always has things ready when I get there. She is also very organized with calendaring things. My family has moved around a lot and volunteered in many different care centers, and this has by far been our favorite. read more

My grandfather stayed at this facility for about a month and this rehab center really helped him get better. The CNAs are all really great and patient and were attentive to my grandfather. My grandpa is a high fall risk patient and they made sure he had extra padding on the sides of his bed, a bed alarm, and lots of check-ups from the staff. They also were really good at helping him use the bathroom and showering him. They were always chatting with him in Tagalog and really brightening his spirits. He also enjoyed the food as well. They always had so many options and he really enjoyed that. Over all my impression of the facility is that it looks a little older but it was nice and quaint...but come on it was obviously built more than 2 decades ago....so if you are going to complain about the overall structure/set-up/bathroom layout go somewhere else. Pretty irritating to read some of the reviews on here. The room and bathroom all were a good size. My grandpa was able to comfortably use his walker/wheelchair through the whole facility. It may not be the Hilton but the staff overall was awesome. They really helped my grandpa regain strength to walk better, eat better, and lifted his spirits. I just felt that I needed to write a positive review because I feel like the very few reviews on this yelp page don't actually paint a true picture of this facility. My father-in-law is being released from the hospital and will need care so we were asked to contact several rehab facilities close to our home that would work for us. The social worker at the hospital called this facility twice and received not response, my wife tried calling same thing. I called on Friday morning and spoke with a nice lady on the phone who promised I would get a call back within a few hours - no call back, nothing not even a message. Based on the contact I have had now with Danville Post-Acute Rehah we will not include this facility on our short list to take my father-in-law if they are this unprofessional from first contact I cannot assume treatment there be any better especially after ready the other reviews. read more

I am writing a review of the Danville Rehab and Nursing home, where my mom is currently living. I heard that they had received a negative review due to the updating/construction of the facility so I decided to write my own review. Let me say that parking can be an issue, but I understand the limited space and sometimes I have to park and walk. Second of all, construction can be a hassle, but the facility is overdue for a makeup and they are doing a GREAT job. Even the Director is outside painting doors and helping with the landscaping himself! It may be dusty and inconvenient, but the staff is AWESOME, always making me feel welcome and taking GREAT care of my 92 year old mom. That is what is IMPORTANT to me - her health and welfare. Most of the staff know me by name, care about the patients, and do the best job they can. Although some staff comes and goes, there are several staff members that have been here a VERY long time, which tells me something about the committment to the patients. It may not be the nicest looking facility, but with the upgrade going on, and once the construction is finished, it will be even better. Thanks for all you do staff, keep it up! read more

I like yelp a lot, but always take extreme reviews with the salt they deserve. My advice in choosing a facility for you or your loved one is to visit! Look around. And sniff. And listen to the interactions of staff with residents! I promise you, visitors are ALWAYS welcome. My dad has lived at Danville Nursing & Rehab since a stroke in July 2008! I looked at a lot of places before I chose this one. The staff have been superior from the start. And many of the same people are there, which says a lot for the management. They have been not just considerate and professional, but loving. He is a moody and difficult man sometimes, and they have been more patient than we are in his family! The physical therapists have worked hard to keep him moving. The business office and social worker have interacted with the various social services and insurance providers seamlessly so I barely have to! I moved from the Bay Area two years ago and found several places near my home for my dad. I presented him with the options, and he decided to stay in Danville! He feels comfortable, loved, and understood. That says it all from the patient perspective. Of COURSE in six years we've encountered problems (so I'm cutting out one star...not having been at another facility for any length of time, I don't know whether one could be better). Calls have been missed. There have been times when Dad was bored with the food or not happy with his roommates. But the staff are so responsive. They really do treat us as friends/family. Recently, when my dad was taken advantage of by a fellow veteran and elder predator, the social worker and director swung into gear and helped me address this horrible issue from my home four hours away. They dealt with the bank, arranged a notary, and helped Dad make the necessary calls to social security and so on. They advised me and we've made it through a huge crisis successfully. They absolutely pass the literal and figurative "smell tests"! read more

After being thrown into a very unfamiliar situation after my grandfathers hip replacement, EVERYONE here made me feel that I wasn't alone! They helped me every step of the way and treated me with as much care and attention as they give my grandfather! When he first arrived, he was disoriented, confused and depressed. He is now very much at home! I can tell how well he's cared for by his smiles towards the staff, by how sweetly his bed has been made and how wonderful the food is! No lie....I've eaten with him and the food is great :) We are now getting to the point of moving on from rehab, which again is a scary thing. And again, I am not alone.
