Valley Country Club is open to the public for lunch and dinner. They have specials Wednesday-Saturday. We went in on a Wednesday night for $9 burger night. We were a party of four and we all ordered different burgers. All of them were cooked perfectly how we ordered them and everything was fresh. I liked the Avocado Burger with goat cheese the best. All burgers were served with fries or fresh vedge of the day. Domestic Beers were advertised for $3 each, but they actually were a little less than that. Captain's Daughter on draft was almost $8 each and an espresso martini was $11.11. All in all, it was a good night out, the bartender was great company, the food was good and we didn't break the bank. We will definitely will try it on another night to try some more specials on another night. Oh yeah, there was also live music too.

It was a great meal here at the Valley Country Club. There was a function going on, which did make it uncomfortable to walk up the stairs to the restaurant, and we even thought about going elsewhere, but we tried another door, and got in with no issue. It was a holiday weekend, and there were many golfers at the restaurant/bar. We are not golfers, so felt a bit like an outsider. Our waitress, however, was very welcoming. My husband ordered beef tips, and said they were delicious. He chose mash potatoes and veg as his sides. He also got a Cesar salad. I had chicken Parm, which I realized I had the last time I was here! They had specials, and have a cocktail list along with a pretty extensive wine and beer selection. The food here is excellent. If you ever have the opportunity to come here for a function (which I have), or just to come to the restaurant, you won't be disappointed!

Midville Golf Club is not a 1 Star golf course if we are only referring to the golf course. The…read morelayout is fun and challenging and when the greens are not recently plugged or sanded, they are some of the best for a public 9 hole in RI. I have had many good experiences at this course and have been playing there on and off for the past 10 years. That being said, my most recent experience is one that I will never forget simply because of the way my playing partners and I were treated by the cranky, self-righteous, and frankly rude octogenarian owner of the facility. In my 15+ years of playing golf (I am in my early 20s for reference), I have always been taught to be courteous of others while on the golf course. That means playing at the pace of those in front of you, calling fore if you feel a shot may be close to the group ahead or near you, and generally being respectful and kind to those on the course with you. That also means recognizing if your group is struggling, playing slow, or creating a backup on the course that could be remedied by allowing faster groups to play through. I have played countless rounds where either my group has been the slow one and allowed people through or been the group allowed through. Today, that was far from the case. As we left the third green, the foursome ahead of us (members at the course - something we were unaware of) had topped two drives and hit the other two roughly 180 yards. They were comprised of two couples who were obviously beginner golfers and roughly middle aged or older. Our group was waiting on the tee box for about 15 minutes just for them to get far enough on a par 4 for us to hit our tee shots so that we WOULDN'T hit into their group. At the same time, there were two groups actively on the third hole behind us and two waiting on the third tee. There was a 5 group wait. We hit our drives and thought nothing of it. We said hello to the group in front of us when they were on the next tee, situated next to the green we were playing and apologized to them if our drives were close to them which they assured us we were ok and that they were not. We then moved on and the same issue popped up. There were 4 groups waiting behind them on a par 5 with two holes ahead of them wide open. Our group tried to call the clubhouse twice, both times to no avail and decided to just let it slide and hope to talk to the group ahead once we were at the next hole, a par 3. Our plan was to ask if we could play through on the par three so that they could continue at their pace and we could have the last two holes open in front of us, as we generally play quick but understand standard pace of play. My second shot on the par 5 was admittedly close to their cart but came up about 15 yards short and I called fore to them very loudly. I went to speak to them and explained that I did not mean to get too close to them, but politely asked if our group could either play through or if they could simply try to speed up a bit. Our conversation was very respectful and in my mind went well, but one of the women told me in no simpler terms to "F... off" and sarcastically joked "what are you pros?" to my partner who was about to play his next shot. We did not see that group again, as they then sped up their play and we were able to also play the last three holes at a reasonable pace and finish in 2:07. Generally speaking, that is good pace of play for a Saturday. As our group walked off of the 9th green, we were approached by a man who we later found out to be the owner who I characterized above. He came up to us and told us how disrespectful and rude our group was for "intentionally hitting into the group ahead of us and harassing them over the course of the round". He went on to tell us that we're not allowed to explain to him what we saw and spoke to that group about, as all he cared about was what we do for a living and how old we were, as if that could be the reason we didn't deserve to have a conversation with him. He was exceptionally rude and disrespectful toward us and does not deserve your business.

Terrible outing... I was part of a bachelor party this past…read moreSaturday 8/17/2024. We had set up 3 separate tee times. Only playing 9 holes. Right at the first hole we were confronted by what I assume was a "Marshall" unsure if he was a golf pro or not. He immediately set the tone for our game, by saying we needed to move along and that having 4 people on the Tee boxes doesn't look good for his course. I didn't hear entirely what he said. People in our party explained he was ordering them to keep pace and not fall behind. We ended up running into the party in front of us who were following another party that was walking in front of them. As the day went on, we were enjoying the day however in the back of our minds trying to make pace on the course. As we finished the course on hole 8, this employee found it necessary to now come back and basically harass us even more now making derogatory comments toward the group. As we replied, we are keeping pace and playing within the parameters and pace of the course. He continued his harassment and comments leading to arguments and then stating he would meet us in the parking lot. In my opinion, that's a basic threat/challenge. Once we reached the parking lot the argument continued, I personally complained to the representative at the check-in counter and left the course. I was then informed another representative came outside and apologized for the incident saying that was the owner's son, and has a problem. Needless to say, we spent a lot of money on the course and were grown men and behaved properly in all aspects of the game conduct and rules of the course, and were just harassed ruining the outing for everyone. I will never return to that course and would not suggest it to anyone. I will say the grounds were kept nicely and the greens were in great shape. However, the customer service was horrible. Its places like this that make anyone trying to learn to play or enjoy the game impossible. If you don't want groups or novice golfers then make your club private.

It set the tone for what ended up being a very uncomfortable meal. The organization of the brunch was extremely poor. All tables were seated and then released at the same time, which created complete chaos. There was no direction, no clear flow, and no communication. Two lines formed for the buffet, but there wasn't nearly enough space to accommodate everyone. At the carving station, both lines collided and people had to awkwardly cross over each other just to access different items. The food itself was also underwhelming. Several of the vegetables were undercooked, and overall the quality did not meet expectations for a holiday brunch. To add to the frustration, I asked for milk for my mom's coffee (she can't have cream), and after about 10 minutes, we were told there was no milk anywhere in the building. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience--especially for a special occasion like Easter. Unfortunately, we won't be returning.

I would def host an event here because unlike the Newport mansions I could touch things and see things in the midst of being historically preserved since they're still restoring the house.
