I am very well versed in the eye exam world having had glasses since I was 8 years old and am now…read more31. I have to say that out of all the places I've been seen for my eye exams, this place takes the cake in all aspects. 1. Seamless appointments: from making the appointment, the checking in process, the exam itself, and checking out. Completely seamless. I've never had any issues with the admin/billing or clinical staff. 2. Extremely friendly and thorough Doctor: I see the female doctor (feel terrible for not remembering her name) here and she has to be one of the kindest people I've ever encountered. I had to bring my two young daughters to a recent appointment and she was extremely kind and accommodating. Even without my children at previous appointments she was very thorough and kind. I never once felt rushed or overlooked. 3. Reliability: I have had to contact their office on a couple occasions to have my prescriptions sent over for contact lenses and they were very prompt and fast with the request. I've had terrible experiences places where they say they will do it and then just don't. This place checks off all the boxes for me. I am happy to have went out on a whim and scheduled with them years ago because I truly adore this place and will not go anywhere else now!

I informed the front desk that next time I want a different doctor. Now I'm off thier contacr list. No emails, no your next appointment is due notice nothing. Went in to inquire about not being contacted and was told they have a new service provider. I was also told that they have been contacting me by phone. When i said that i have not been contacted in any way the girl at the desk siad that it was my problem then asked if I wanted to make an appointment. My answer was contact me and we'll do that. Never heard back from anyone.

I am concerned that she is preying on other veterans. The form I was asked to sign for care under a VA Community Care Network referral stated that medical insurance coverage is between me and my insurance company, that they are not "party" to that contract, that I would be responsible for balance if denied by my insurance, and that I would be responsible for the timely payment of my account. This may apply for certain health 'insurance' plans, but I can assure you this is not appropriate for veterans being referred in the community care network under the VA medical benefit. Ophthalmic Associates, TriWest is the company that manages the VA community care network here in Alaska, and there is no way that they would have been able to assign my referral to Ophthalmic Associates if there was no contract between you two. If your staff member who claimed to have 20+ years of billing and coding experience thinks that turning someone away from medical care for refusing to sign her illegal form is appropriate, then your medical providers should evaluate who they have on their payroll and the ethics which your group is operating under. If she is still employed there, I am grateful that your practice was not involved in my medical care. I desire integrity in my medical providers. Nothing on the TriWest website indicates that you have any right to bill a veteran in any way, shape, or form when they are receiving care under a community care referral/authorization. https://www.triwest.com/en/provider-handbook/billing-and-claims/#:~:text=Payments%20made%20by%20TriWest%20or,a%20Veteran's%20episode%20of%20care
