Last time I went there then we did the whole shebang and got my vision dialed in for glasses and discussed about full tent on my vehicle due to the Sun in the glare that causes extreme migraine headaches after the appointment I was given a slip for a prescription but no direction on where to take it or what to do with it no real customer service after the appointment they just let you walk out there and nobody visited and directed me to where I could turn the slip in and receive a pair of glasses but I'm going to give it a try one more shot I'm going this Friday and I'll give an updated review 01-25-2026 my name is Jon Redwine if wolf eye care wants to help me now I sure could use my glasses Ive been without for years now my insurance only covers a pair of glasses once every 3 years and you guys claimed the prescription for the making of the glasses so I couldn't obtain any other glasses at a different facility. I am very well versed in the eye exam world having had glasses since I was 8 years old and am now 31. I have to say that out of all the places I've been seen for my eye exams, this place takes the cake in all aspects. 1. Seamless appointments: from making the appointment, the checking in process, the exam itself, and checking out. Completely seamless. I've never had any issues with the admin/billing or clinical staff. 2. Extremely friendly and thorough Doctor: I see the female doctor (feel terrible for not remembering her name) here and she has to be one of the kindest people I've ever encountered. I had to bring my two young daughters to a recent appointment and she was extremely kind and accommodating. Even without my children at previous appointments she was very thorough and kind. I never once felt rushed or overlooked. 3. Reliability: I have had to contact their office on a couple occasions to have my prescriptions sent over for contact lenses and they were very prompt and fast with the request. I've had terrible experiences places where they say they will do it and then just don't. This place checks off all the boxes for me. I am happy to have went out on a whim and scheduled with them years ago because I truly adore this place and will not go anywhere else now! read more

Have been waiting over a month for my 2 year old daughters glasses, who had bilateral cataracts at birth, so has no lenses in her eyes. I was initially told it would be 7-14 days. I called at 2 weeks, no glasses, and not only that it took 10 minutes on hold for them to find out where the glasses were. Was told it was going to take another week. Called again in a week, told it was going to be yet another week, that they would ship out that Friday, and be here Monday. Well, now it's that Monday and was just told they did not ship out like they should have and that it would be almost another week, that we would receive them on Thursday. This mama is NOT happy. Every day my daughter can't see, is another lost opportunity to learn and grow. Not impressed with whatever lab Wolf Eye uses. read more

We received a note from the school saying the Lion's association had done a exam on my 5 yr old and came back for a referral. Went to Wolf Eye Center for a 4:50 and 5:30 appt...for my 2 boys. We did not leave the office until 7pm. The 5 year old takes longer to answer questions and sees things differently than most people; therefore he takes his time when asked questions. The doctor actually said this to my son: "Come on (name), you need to try harder" He said this quite a few times actually. I don't think we were given proper care, I feel like the doctor just scribbled something down....handed it to us, then left. No explaining what amblyopia is. As I dragged my tired, starving children to the van, he was driving out of the parking lot....obviously we had held him up. Going to a different optometrist on Thurs for 2nd opinion. read more

This is my second visit to wolf eye center. My husband and I came in last year for our annual exams. My husband has great vision and has not had an exam in the 10 years I have known him but he can see things before I can. I on the other hand, go every year and have worn glasses and contacts for 12+ years. After the first visit they had him pay a fee that was not clearly explained before they even billed our insurance. Then I ordered contacts through them and the difference due after insurance was $8. I called to pay immediately upon receiving my bill. Two weeks later I get another notice so I called again. They said it did show as paid. Another two weeks and I get another final notice for $8. I called again! They had applied my payment to the exam side while their glasses and contacts are separate.....really! So, a year later here I am. I just came in and they gave me my info to verify. Email address was someone else's and my emergency contact's phone number was wrong, it wasn't even one she's ever had. When I mentioned this to the lady she just said to change it like its no big deal! Ummmm who could have my information if I have someone else's?!?!? Not cool! They definitely need some help in their operations! I will be transferring my records today! read more

First I want to clarify that this one star review refers to the eye glass selling operation attached to Wolf Eye Center. Dr. Evens and Dr. Wolf are both excellent eye doctors. My five year old granddaughter was so excited to pick out her first pair of glasses and they would be pink. The day they came was devastating for her. The glasses were sized for an adult ( they fit me perfectly). They were so large that if one earpiece was on the other was off. When her parents went to return them as surely this was a mistake the clerk said that it was their own fault for asking for those pink glasses. To which I say why was the clerk showing a five year old glasses that had zero chance of fitting? This was not Walmart nor was she picking out a tee shirt. They are still charging the insurance for those glasses and will order a second pair if the insurance company okays it although this may take months. This is an extremely unsatisfactory experience all the way around. read more

wow, its 2/28/2020, i just looked up wolf again, to get my records. when we had the last big earth quake, the pics of the road that ate the car on vine, is 100 ft. from my house. my glasses were destroyed! i called them a week later to help me, quote "you are one day late--of a year. you have to come in and be examened again!! and pay. needless to say i was not going to be blackmailed! i went to a different place. they helped me!! because my eye problems, brain, sent to wolf by a neurologist!! sorry everyone, i had to take a minute to calm down!! to this day i still have the same mailing address. my phone number only change 4 months ago. i've lived here since i was a child. it is not like they could not contact me!!! yet for the first time i am seeing thier post!! what, i live right up the road!!!! how dare you lie about trying to contact me!!!~!~!~ or offering anything!! i have been saving my pennies to get my glasses fixed!!!! and i did!!~! blantant lying seems to be the acceptably theme these days. shame on you wolf eye, i am still here, same box, ect. you have never contacted me in any way shape or form!!! read more

The office is very professional. The CMA/COAs seem very well trained. And the eye exam was very thorough. That being said, I'm not a fan. My experience felt very impersonal. I prefer establishments who take the time to try to get to know me. I spent more time with the CMA/COA than I did with the doctor. If you've ever experienced OPA in Anchorage, it's a lot like that. It's only a matter of time before Wolf starts handing out buzzers (like in restaurants). If you like to get in and get out without getting a lot of personal questions, then this place is for you. If you prefer spending time getting to know the Doctor and having them get to know you, then please keep looking. read more

Thank you for confirming that your technician performs part of the eye exam that a doctor should perform (your quote "which is better 1 or 2"). I have had vision exams every year or two for the past 35 years. THIS HAS NEVER BEEN PERFORMED BY ANYONE OTHER THAN DOCTOR. As far as wanting to charge my medical insurance for the retinal exam that my vision benefit provides, is fraud plain and simple. The fact that a medical condition is an underlying reason is already accounted for in the vision benefit. This is why you have a medical degree, correct? No, I will not reconsider you EVER as my optical provider. Since your practice tries (and succeeds I am sure) in trying to rip most people off, I was happy to find another provider who doesn't. read more

I can't say enough about Wolf Eye Center, I moved here 7 years ago an made my first appointment with Dr Mayberry. I was a Glaucoma patient at the time an then also developed very dry eyes caused by my Sjogrens Disease. My glaucoma was treated by laser surgery by Dr Wolf who made me feel very comfortable where this was my first time having anything other then drops done to my eyes. It took a while to get the dry eyes under control but Dr. Mayberry was able to find relief for me through serum drops. Both she an those drops have been a life saver for me because my eyes were driving me crazy, thank you Dr Mayberry! On Feb 3rd, 2022 I went in for cataract surgery with Dr. Wolf. If there is anyone out there that is afraid of having this done, don't be and go see him to have it done. It is such a simple procedure, take a short time, prep time is the longest part of it. I'm only on day two an the difference in my vision is incredible and I can't wait to get the other eye done next week. I feel that the entire staff there is so friendly and more then willing to help you. if your looking for good quality eye care, you need to give them a call. read more

Where to begin. To clarify, this happened fall of last year. I'm giving them 2 stars because I had gotten glasses from them a few year ago, and the service was great, glasses came in on time and it was fine. Then last year I go back for an exam to get my prescription updated. The exam itself was fine, but once I paid (paid in cash, cash discount) I was pretty much ignored. I needed sunglasses so I began looking at different types and landed on a nice pair of Ray Bans. I hunted down someone to help me order/buy them. Glasses were ordered and I would hear back when they got in. Fast forward a couple weeks and I got a call. My glasses were in, but someone at the lab cut a gash out of the frames near the lens. They offered them to me at a discount but the gash was way too big and obvious, even for the discount price. They said they would order another frame and have it sent out to have the lenses put in. I get another call some time later that the frames were the last of their kind, and can't be replaced. At this point I should have given up and asked for a refund. They offered me another frame at equal value. I had to drive back to Wasilla to pick out another frame. I picked them and they were sent off. There was another problem with that set but I honestly don't remember what it was. The sales lady was extremely apologetic and really nice, but the whole situation was a pain. By the time I actually had the glasses it was over a month later. I haven't and won't return to them any time soon. My response to their reply below: Oh trust me, I spoke to associates of Wolf Eye Center many, many times in the months it took for my whole situation to be handled. I should have written this review sooner though. The glasses I ended up with I never wear because they leave marks on my cheeks (something the original frames didn't do). Horrible service. Ordered glasses this summer... Visit 1. They wrote down the wrong prescription for one of my lens when they ordered it. Visit 2. My prescription from the doctor was determined incorrect from the beginning. Visit 3. Third attempt to my glasses, no one noticed the smudge in the coating till I got there and tried them on and I still experienced blurriness. The head lady came out and argued with me about my prescription with little patience for me, Im sorry... this is my third visit by the way, then she tells me to wear the new ones to get use to it as the reorder the lens. I spent the week with eye strain. My sunglasses which I got updated, were fine. Visit 4. I go back for the new lens.. what do u know I can see without strain when you remove the lens with the smudge in the middle smudge and the correct lens. I paid extra for anti scratch and the anti reflection.. its been 8 months and the corner of my lens have cracks in them...thanks. read more

I definitely would not go here. It is a office designed for high volume and minimum care. Save yourself some money and go some where else. I felt all the front desk lady cared about was to get the I dotted and the T crossed. I checked in and sat in the waiting room. Then I had a lady in the waiting room get my attention and said the receptionist keep calling for me when I was in the reception room around the corner out of ear shot. If receptionist wanted to talked to me she should of got up and got my attention. When I called for an appointment specifically for the "Doctor" not someone who has not gone to medical school. I was 10 minutes late when I forgot my ID, but they said that that I could see a Non Doctor an hour later. I did called ahead before my appointment time to let them know I will be 10 minutes late but I guess when you are running people through like cattle that doesn't fit this office business model. Again I would not recommend this practice to anyone and I will be sure to relate my experience to anyone looking to get eye care. read more

BUYER BEWARE: Get ready to pay for incompetence and then take the blame! I purchased exams and glasses for myself and my two children in 2010. Yep, 2010 and I'm still angry in 2017. We waited way too long for our glasses to come in and then they were wrong. When I put my glasses on I immediately had sharp pains in the back of my scalp. I called and was told my eyes needed to adjust to the new glasses and I should keep wearing them. By the end of the day I had a severe headache and I was vomiting. I had to take another day off work to return to have them rechecked but no one was willing to check them. I was told to make an appointment but I was out of vacation time and couldn't take another day off work to drive back to Wasilla again. I called. I emailed. No one cared. The "lady" working told me if I was having headaches I should see a doctor. I told her I thought I had!! And I left Alaska about that time. But I did see a doctor. In fact it cost me a total of 11 days lost wages, an MRI, a cat scan and I can't even remember what else. I knew in my gut it was the glasses but I was dumb enough to listen to these unprofessional con artists. I regret that now. I went to another eye dr who said my eyes weren't even bad enough for him to prescribe anything and I didn't need the glasses they sold me in the first place and so I went on with my life not wearing glasses and no headaches. Years past and I was getting eye strain staring at my computer all day so I saw an eye dr again. Now my eyes need some minor correction (7 years later) ... So I found the glasses I bought there but never wore to reuse the frames. The staff where I got new lenses was wonderful. They actually laughed when they saw the lenses they were replacing. They said the lenses were never finished and showed me the swirl lines in them. They said the lenses were the cheapest possible material (not what I paid for) and were not cut correctly. They actually laughed. Repeatedly. So I got my new lenses and I can see without headaches and I emailed wolf again. Now that I knew what was wrong and could prove it I thought they might care but they didn't. I received a scathing email back. No apology. No sympathy. Just attitude. Seems this place thinks if your insurance pays for part of your glasses they really have no obligation to you. So I notified my insurance about the garbage they paid for and the dr being unwilling to stand behind it. I also added up all the unnecessary medical expenses they helped pay for that were a direct result of this. Places like this need to be shut down. People have to be able to rely on medical providers. Mistakes happen but the attitude, disregard, and unwillingness to even consider they made an error makes them dangerous. Dare I say a public nuisance! Pay attention folks the majority of the favorable reviews (not recommended) are people who never reviewed any other establishment or maybe just one other. And the reviews use the same phrases and write in the same voice. That's deception folks! The real reviews look a lot more like mine. People make buying decisions based on false reviews they wouldnt make if they weren't deceived. That amounts to theft. And a case could be made for insurance fraud as a result. I'll be making that case. Not because of the ridiculously high prices or the horrible useless product but because of the flagrant disregard for my health and the attitude like they think we just have to take it without any recourse. The amount of lost wages and medical expenses this cost me is no laughing matter. Although I appreciate the laughter my new eye doctor experienced when he saw the shoddy workmanship I paid for at wolf, I guarantee you wolf won't be laughing when I'm done! read more

Been coming to Dr. Wolf for several years now. My vision is affected by glaucoma and cataracts both. I recently had some serious decreases in my vision as a result of the cataracts. Surgery was recommended and I followed Dr. Wolf's orders to the letter. It is now post-surgery in both eyes, and I can now see to drive and read. What's better? It's the first time in 37 years that I haven't had to wear glasses. Oh sure, I still need shades for the sun and wind, but that's OK. I look cool in them. Great chair-side manner and friendly staff. I have been going to see Dr Wolf since 2003. before he opened his own place Wolf Eye Center. He is a kind compassionate man, very competent and caring, I had an eye injury and that's how I met him. Fast forward to now since his beautiful office opened. I still go to Wolf Eye Center for yearly exams, I was going every 6 months because I was a glaucoma suspect and they had a state of the art machine that could diagnose and detect. Things have slowed down now, I still go in once a year and have been seeing Dr Evans. She is great! I just got my 2nd pair of glasses. The quality at Wolf Eye Center is far above other places in the Valley, and even though it might cost a little more it is most certainly worth it. I even had the 1st pair i got from them get eaten by my dog and they managed to have the insurance cover some of the cost to replace. The 1st pair, they had discontinued the frames. I ordered new lenses and found the frames on EBay. They had no problem putting the lenses into my new frames. Great people, great service! I will continue to go to Wolf Eye Center. read more

My family of 3 has all come here for our eye exams. Dr Reynolds and Dr. Frank were very thorough and explained any questions we had. I have been wearing glasses for about 23 years and contact lenses for about 16 years. I've had eye exams at many different offices that have left me feeling like I was missing something, not the case at this office. The opticians were very friendly and helpful and I was able to find a lens material that provided me with vision as sharp as it is in my contacts. No more polycarbonate for me! Last summer we had to come in with my daughter due to a possibly severe medical issue and they were able to get us right in and alleviate the fears of my then 6 year old. I would definitely recommend this office and my extended family have also become patients of this office. read more

This eye clinic is the most deceiving Business that I've ever dealt with. When I made the appointment I told them that I had lost my suitcase and was in need of contacts ASAP, my other prescription had just expired however I was an optician and worked at a clinic in Fairbanks as well as in Washington, so I knew my K readings as well base curve and diameter for different types of contacts and had wore them for 42years, I also explained that I had Medicaid because of having treatment for cancer exhausted all my insurance I had with the company that paid medical bills for my cancer treatment and then some. They was very welcoming to make appointment but when I got there it was not welcoming as I checked in the lady ask me for photo ID. And then said in an even louder voice needed my state insurance card. Needless to say when I told them what I was wanting and knew that insurance would only pay for exam and not contact lens Rx. Then before proceeding with exam I was ask by 3 different staff members including the doctor if I knew there would be an additional fee I would need to pay and the doctor being the last to tell me there would be a fee I was ask to sign a paper stating I would pay for contact Rx. So we proceeded after signing the doctor wrote the Rx for my contact as it was exactly for the same as I was I went in wearing. They did then charged me the highest fee that was shown in the pricing of the contact Rx.the doctor then said she didn't have any lenses in my power for me to put on to see if it was a good fit. But I went in wearing exactly what Rx would be. $140 and I walked out with nothing but a glass Rx and was told that the would call me when trial pair came in well I wear nothing fancy or hard to get contacts and it's been almost 2 weeks out causing me to wear the ones I went in wearing over the suggested time. This wearing of old lenses could cause damage to eye so that when they finally got trial lenses to not be a heathy when put on for the re-check, this place is a scamming no good place to go and as for the price of the frames alone with out the lenses and nothing being under $300 is the biggest rip off as I can tell you that other than a frame being made with gold or silver our precious stones not one of the frames cost them more than $ 40-50 dollars and your lenses are no more there cost of $ 20 dollars, eye care and wear is one of the most profit making businesses there is i will call them today and tell them if they don't have my single vision fresh looks by tomorrow that I want a refund and will turn them in to the state review board... check back on this review next week to see where and how this went,,, read more
