Took pride es 2 mobility scooter in for simple diagnostic I am a senior amputee on a fixed income Went into established and asked for a simple diagnostic on why it would not charge I was charged a 125.00 dollar on this matter It was nothing more than a 5 dollar fuse Was contacted by staff which was very sarcastic and rude over the phone letting know it was nothing more than a 5 dollar fuse Went down to pick my scooter up and was surprised to be charged 130.00 dollars for a 5 minute fix I highly recommend checking internet on any electrical items you might have prior to taking to this store Pricing is completely ridiculous I give them a zero star rating read more

Their customer service needs improvement. They need to be more respectful to the handicapped community. My caregiver and I went in about a month ago to look at different durable medical equipment for me. They were supposed to order specialized utensils for me that I was to come in and look at first, as per Valley Medical, to see if they were compatible for me and if the price was right, then I would have purchased them. Valley Medical just ignored me and never gave me that chance. We have now went to a different business that truly cares about their handicapped clients. Shame on you, Valley Medical! read more

Customer service was lacking on my visit. The employee who "helped us" didn't seem to know anything about the wheelchairs on hand and stated she "wouldn't even know where to start" to look it up online. What!?! Isn't this the primary focus of this business? I watched her walk away from my elderly father in law to help someone else while he still had questions and other supplies he needed. He states they have done this to him before and after our visit an employee did this to him on the phone. He is a bit slow to speak what he needs, but the elderly deserve our attention and patience. They're still valid customers. I'll take my business elsewhere. read more

After I had a hip replacement I found it difficult getting up and down, and sleeping in bed ... I called around and Valley Medical Supply was the only one who had electric lift chairs for rent - at around $2500 I didn't want to buy one ... when I called there, Geoff said he'd be over in a few minutes - and he was ... this chair has been an incredible help as it vastly aided in getting up and down, which, if you've never had the surgery, can be painful and possibly injurious ... and it's comfortable also - the best night's sleep I've had since before the surgery ... ... PS: Geoff will also sell you a chair for a whole lot less than a price I got from another medical supply company ... I heartedly recommend VMS to anyone looking for medical supply needs ... read more

With my father living alone locally and me living out of state, I've been struggling with how to proceed as years go on, and what resources would be available to me. My $1600 lift chair broke which may not mean much to some people, but I'm disabled and if the chair is useless then so am I. Geoffrey came over immediately, diagnosed the problem, took it to his shop, and brought it back the very next day. Did I mention his other worker was out sick that day? I wanted a lift chair to replace a broken down chair and because of age decided on a lift chair. Years ago we had purchased a lift chair from Valley Medical for my wife and it is still going. I'm very picky and went several times and the young woman running the store was more than helpful each time. On the day that we went to make the final decision my wife came along to sit in the chairs. She has a Pride chair that was still working. She sat in the Golden chair and liked all the doodads on the chair and decided she wanted a new one that would match the upholstery of mine but had some extras. Ordered them and they were delivered by Geoffrey and helper. They would have set it up in the house but we're unable to because of Covid-19 insurance rules. They unpacked them into my garage. I own furniture dollies so it wasn't to bad for me to set them up. One chair had a minor problem and Geoff and the store repair man came over and repaired it right away. I had looked at Lazyboy chairs but wouldn't buy from them again because they wouldn't repair the lifetime guarenteed chair that I just took to the dump. I trust Valley Medical Supply and so should you. The prices are just as good as online but with personable service read more

I went there to buy a cane for an acute injury. Out to lunch sign during normal business hours. Had to wait. Unhelpful grunts from the owner. Unhelpful guttural answers to questions. Dumpy atmosphere of the store. Try something else. They should sell the business. read more

I called Valley Medical trying to find a small hernia belt for my boyfriend. When I called a lady answered and said that they did have hernia belts but she didn't know the sizes of the hernia belts. I mean how hard is it to look at a box? The sizes are written in bold print! She told me to call back tomorrow. I told her I wouldn't be calling back tomorrow because she didn't take the time to look for the sizing. She didn't even wait for me to finish talking and she hung up the phone. All I'm really trying to say is that if you work at a Medical Supply store you should know your products and try to be more polite. read more

I was into the store today, and I didn't have a GREAT experience. I had my mother's scooter serviced. The repairs were fine, but the service when I picked it up were not! We (mom and I) went to get the scooter. The woman in the store, brought the scooter out to us, we paid for the repairs, and she went to the back room, and left me to get the scooter out the door as well as my mother who was using a walker. She didn't even offer to hold the door open for me! read more

I was very pleased to find a medical supply store open on a Saturday to serve their customers with the shop owner on hand. I was in a bind for a knee scooter (I ordered one from Amazon and it was delayed in transit). They had a selection to choose from, offered assistance in loading the device in my vehicle (as I was on crutches after my surgery) and offered a weekly rate without a minimum number of weeks required. I was able to get back to work on time with their help! read more

If there was a lower rating than one star I would have chosen it. In nearly twenty years of dealing with medical supply houses, my experience with Valley Medical in Chico was by far the most unpleasant! Late on a recent Friday morning I took my wife's wheelchair to Valley Medical to see if they could replace a broken bracket holding the hand brake lever. Jeff, the owner told me the charge would be $45 labor plus the cost of parts and shipping. He required a $100 deposit which I paid with my Visa credit card. Later that same afternoon he called to say the part was no longer available so he could not make the repair but he would give me 10% off a new chair. I told him I would be in on Monday (he was to be closed that Saturday) to pick up my chair. I went in on Monday, told him a relative had offered use of her chair for our trip to UCSF in San Francisco, and depending on the outcome of my wife's surgery, would consider a new chair when we returned. I asked for a return of my $100 deposit as he had performed no service other than making a phone call. He refused to return any portion of my deposit. I returned home, called the credit card issuer and initiated a disputed charge case, explaining the situation. The next morning I received a call from the owner's wife apologizing for Jeff's attitude and offering to return $50 of the deposit which I refused. I reluctantly agreed to pay $25 for his time if they would credit my account for $75. Bottom line, CAVEAT EMPTOR!!! I will never ever buy anything from this store nor use its repair service, will make all my friends and relatives aware of their unfair, unprofessional business practices and advise that they buy from other local medical supply stores or online where they can purchase most supplies that Valley carries for what I believe is half what Valley charges. Incidentally, doing research since this episode, I learned similar chairs that he offered to discount ten percent are available online for about half his so called discounted price. read more

Owner called 911 to have a police come because I was questioning him about the return policy. My husband purchased a shower chair Friday afternoon, literally, when they were about to close. Monday morning I called them because the shower chair needs to be exchange or return (too big for my Grandma's shower), stil comes with tag and never used. The owner kept hanging up on me when I called 3 times and screamed on the phone that it can't be return nor exchanged. The chair is over $200, when I got there, I introduced myself as the one who called several times and got hang up on. The owner said, I did not hang up on you, I just placed the phone down because I dont want to speak to you. I was suprised by his answer. I said excused me Sir, all i wanted to know your store policy. Then, he said rudely if you dont leave i will call 911 and have cops come over. The owner turned red, i think he was sick or something, i was actually concern and mad at the same time. Less than 5 minutes Cops arrived. Of course, i was waiting outside the store because he kicked me out. I spoke to the Cop and good thing i had a video of everything because there was something in my gut that this is going to be a bad experienced. I was right! I had the Officer watched the video and he said he would talk to the owner/guy. Few minutes later,Office came out and said, "we can't do anything because he is the owner and he is the one who writes the store policy. My only bet is to call my bank." This was a really bad experienced with the owner. I hope local business owners aren't like this. They need to have a sign visible to all buyers. This store had the sign on the paperclip board where you sign the receipt. The receipt covers the sign. What a shame! It is not about the money but the principle behind this. read more
