Already looking good! 8wk post-op. Dr. Taylor's GREAT work!!
    Little B.

VOI and Dr. Taylor are are absolutely phenomenal! My entire experience has been great. The office is very clean and the staff is so professional, from the front office to the x-ray tech and lets not forget the nurses that work with Dr. Taylor (I wish I remembered their names) they explain everything so thoroughly they never make me feel rushed and my paperwork is always filled out quick (this helps with EDD disability). I can't say enough about how great my experience has been Dr. Taylor is very thorough, professional, well educated, nice, patient, and does great work! My surgery went flawlessly. I am pleased with my decision to be treated by VOI and would recommend them to ANYONE!

    Oh yeah that's my feet

I honestly wonder why some people go into the medical field. You REALLY don't have to. I promise. I…read moregot my time wasted today while in EXCRUCIATING PAIN with my left hand. Literally out of nowhere, my hand began hurting Friday afternoon. By Sunday morning, I could barely move my ring finger. The pain? 8.5 out of 10. I have an EXTREMELY high pain tolerance level, which I alert anyone medical I'm dealing with to immediately. After going to urgent care yesterday, I was referred to Dr. Blumenthal because she's supposedly a hand specialist. An X-ray was taken of my hand at urgent care & there's some sort of fragment between the bones of my middle & ring fingers. It could be bone, a growth, or a cyst.. a tumor whatever. An X-ray can just see it, not diagnose it. At urgent, they gave me a very nice, snug wrap, and my referral/ X-ray results in prep for today. So fine. I see THIS doctor today. Her nurse comes in and takes off the wrap... SKYROCKETING my pain to a nearly unbearable level... & says, "Were going to get you a new dressing." Tosses my new wrap in the garbage, then leaves the room for like 15 min. Y'all... I'M IN AGONY. Finally, this Dr. comes in and asks what happened to my hand. I explained that I had no idea. I haven't hit it, nor is there anything that I'm aware of that caused it. My hand is swollen & and hurts, but literally NOTHING has happened. This woman just stared at me, then grabbed my hand & and stared, pressing on the swollen area. I tell her it's excruciating... she keeps fucking pressing, while staring at me like the goddamm Night King on Game of Thrones. Then asks me again what happened to my hand. I said I didn't know. She leaves. A few min later, she comes back and says "Its just VERY unusual to have something come from nothing." She keeps staring. I could tell she DIDN'T BELIEVE ME. Why? Why would it benefit me to lie about it!? Make that make sense! She then asked if I were bit by a dog or cat or if i just slept weird?! Bitch... would'nt you see puncture wounds, ma'am?! There isn't any evidence of a bite from anything... and my X-ray shows something between my bones. Y'all.. she COMPLETELY DISMISSED me. She basically said she didn't know... and was quite cold in her demeanor. She referred me downstairs for a CT scan and just kept it moving. I said... may I have a pain Rx? Motrin isn't helping... She said to just take Tylenol & that she couldn't prescribe anything more because she didn't know why I was having pain?! I asked about my wrap... she opened the trash and there it was.. all surrounded by gross tissues & cotton balls covered with God knows what. She then pulls out a HUGE bandage that is for knees & WRAPS MY WRIST. The pain is my hand... not my wrist. I just can't even. I'm not a big crier, which can make people think you're faking, I guess? ESPECIALLY with the "strong black woman" trope. Because of that, often our medical pain gets dismissed... often to our detriment or death. This is a WELL DOCUMENTED medical pain bias that people who like me face. If you're in pain & look like me? Go see someone else. She doesn't care. Terrible.

I didn't realize that my review was saved as a draft here. I thought it had been posted. My first…read moreand only encounter with Dr. Andrew Blecher around 6 years ago. He was with SCOI ... before it came under the UCLA umbrella. I learned that he was using a type of stem cell treatment and I'd bee suffering with joint and nerve pain for decades. The very least of my my pains are the result of bullet lodged between L1-L2 of my spine. I was bone-on bone in my knees and nearly all my joints were thrashed. I had tried everything to address my pain and I wanted to explore stem cell treatment. At the time, it was known that the "good" stem cell treatment was available in several countries, but not in the U.S.. An assistant to Dr. Blecher was "Zach" and he was super-kind and professional. I had had several phone conversations with Zach, and when I arrived at my appointment, Zach was as kind and professional in-person as he'd been on the phone. ABOUT MR. BLECHER: When he walked into the room to meet me, I said "Hello". He did NOT say hello in return. Rather, the first words that came out his mouth were: "You know this is a very expensive procedure.". He said that in a conspicuously condescending tone that perfectly matched his facial expression. I admit that I look kinda like the poster-person for a biker from hell, but Blecher looked at me as if I had parked my stolen super market shopping cart just outside his office. Of course, I had to ask "How much will treatments cost", to which he replied "It starts at $8.000.00 and might go up from there ... and NO insurance will cover it." I wasn't shocked by that reply ... however, Dr. Blecher added that it was possible that I might see no benefits from the treatment(s). At that time I knew that the country of Panama offered real (umbilical) stem cell treatments, and $8,000.00 might have covered my travel to Panama and treatment fees. Unfortunately, I had been in such pain that I felt I couldn't make the trip for the treatment. I was left to weigh the expense of treatment against the discouraging, terrible, unfriendly attitude of Blecher. I chose to pass. My pains have only increased. I can't have an MRI because of the bullet fragment, and I have become more disabled. However, I continue to hope for treatment options. Blecher is arrogant, patronizing and narcissistic. I'm a people person and a disabled veteran. I strongly suggest you do NOT seek care from Dr. Andrew Blecher. Rather, seek a doctor that possesses human qualities and treats patients (or potential patients) with dignity. Apologies for not confirming/knowing that this review went to "draft" and was not posted in a timely way.

While the staff were competent and professional, I felt that their approach to physical therapy could have been more tailored to my specific needs. The therapy seemed a bit too generic, and I didn't receive the targeted attention I was hoping for. Ultimately, I turned to the internet and found a physical therapy program that was much more specifically attuned to my issues. This personalized approach made a significant difference in my recovery. Valencia Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation does a decent job, but they could improve by offering more individualized treatment plans. Overall, if you're looking for a general physical therapy experience, this place is adequate. However, if you need a more specific and targeted therapy approach, you might want to explore other options. As far as billing goes, they do not take insurance, and I have very good insurance. I have a PPO plan through my work, and they indicated to me that they don't take insurance and that they are not a preferred provider through the insurance programs. This meant I had to pay out-of-network pricing, resulting in about $125 per session for physical therapy. My wife, on the other hand, received physical therapy for her own injury at another clinic that accepted her insurance and provided excellent care, significantly reducing her out-of-pocket costs. Had I known the quality of their therapy prior to agreeing to pay the out of network pricing, I probably would not have chosen to go to them. I have been recommended to them by a friend and my friend thought they did a great job so I didn't question their pricing because I thought that they would be really good in taking care of my back.
