ZERO STARS to this practice due to the office receptionist NORMA, (seated on the left) who I will refer to as Wasp Woman. She is the rudest, most condescending skank Ive ever met and by no means should she be working with the public, especially in the medical field. When I later mentioned this miserable puta in another dr's office, the staff there were allready familiar with her horrible reputation and were not surprised when I explained the way I was treated by her in Dr Bittar's office. Needless to say, I decided to go with another orthopedic surgeon because of NORMA the Wasp Woman. I came to see Dr. Bittar as I was referred by my insurance for a knee injury. My experience was great, nothing bad to say at all. The front office ladies were all kind and efficient. This is a very busy office and they handle it well, even dealing with patients who were totally unkind to them. They still remained calm, kept smiles and treated everyone kind. Kudos to them! Give them a raise! I used to work in Orthopedics and I get it, trust me ladies I do! I didn't wait long to be called back and was seen within 10 minutes. Dr Bittar was very friendly and professional (And not hard on the eyes). He answered all of my questions and explained everything completely. One of the most vile doctors I have ever seen. He is arrogant and if he has no answer you are scolded as the problem. He had me do x rays and the x rays tech asked ME which hips he should x ray vs the doctor. This doctor did not let me speak and made me sit in a gown to not even be examined. He said I should just go to a pain management doctor. When I asked what type of doctor I should see to find the cause of the pain he continued to yell at me and repeat himself. I was then yelled at that I better stop my facial expressions because I was in such shock of how I was being spoken to. I went to Dr. Bittar for the first time yesterday for my arm pain. He was very informative and patient. The office staff was great. He gave me a shot for my arm pain and so far it's been working. The pain and numbness has reduced. I do have to do physical therapy to help with the paint. read more

Dr. Bittar is by far the best orthopedic surgeon here in the SCV and maybe throughout southern California. My 17 year old son was in a tragic car accident and had multiple fractures in both his foot and arm. Dr. Bittar was able to put my son's foot back together that was completely shattered and put plates and screws in both his ankle, foot and arm. My son will be able to not only walk again but have full mobility of his arm. And his office staff, top notch, by far the most efficient doctors office I have ever been too. Orthopedic Surgeon I had my first appointment with Dr. Bittar two days ago. He was very nice, kind and took the time to speak with me. Although I need a knee and hip replacement, I also have a family reunion on October 16th in another state. He was kind enough to tell me he would give me shots in my knees so I can make the trip! The worst experience I have ever had with a doctor. I got into a motorcycle accident and waited 12 hours for him to show up for surgery. After the surgery, pray you don't have to deal with him and his staff for your orthopedic care. He is rude, greedy thief, he will not give you the time of day, he will rush out of the room after about 5 minutes, and his staff's careless and lazy approach to customer service is equally terrible. 1. I had a follow up scheduled and his x-ray tech (who's the only actually good employee) had called out that day. They didn't call me to reschedule my appointment. Instead, they made me come to the office to wait in the lobby for over an hour, charged me my co-pay and had me wait another 20-30 minutes in a patient room just so Bittar could walk in and tell me the news and say that they would have to reschedule my appointment. Later I came to realize that I had been billed for that visit as well as the rescheduled visit I had to make. When I said something about it to Bittar he got annoyed with me and told me that I already had an outstanding balance with him (My insurance was processing his payments at the time) and that both days would count as visits because he saw me both days. 2. Trying to get his staff to help you out with EDD is worse than pulling out your own teeth with rusty pliers. They charge you $15 every time you need to extend your EDD and they will only ever extend it until your next 6-week follow up. (If you get lucky) After your visit, you have to call multiple times just for them to tell you that they'll get it done "soon". My EDD has lapsed multiple times because of this. Sure, EDD gives you back pay, but no one wants to wait longer than their expected pay day for a check their life and family depends on. read more

Dr. Bittar is a rockstar in his field! 10 years ago he did a full hip replacement on my the. 80-year old Mother which was life changing for her; 4 years ago he performed a medial meniscus repair for me and I've never had another issue since.. ; last year he did a massive shoulder repair surgery for my husband and was able to avoid a full shoulder replacement..; he took care of a friend after a serious car accident. I don't know a single soul that has had a complaint after seeing Dr. Bittar for their orthopedic care. He and his staff are awesome! read more

I'm just very frustrated because my primary doc referred me to this place and when I tried to schedule an appointment, I had explained my issue and they told me the referral diagnosis needs to be changed before it can proceed. I went through so much hassle (many phone calls) and I finally got the referral updated and sent over to this place. But when I come to schedule an appointment they then tell me they don't treat my issue........ keep in mind I had told them I had a leg length discrepancy (injury caused) from the beginning and it causes pain. If you are like me and going through a life altering injury, this is the last type of person you want as your surgeon. DO NOT USE!! I am a professional athlete who suffered a severe injury requiring surgery. I was admitted to an emergency room where the ER doctor called Dr Bittar and asked for advice. Dr Bittar advised I required specific surgery and he expressed I could not wait and scheduled it the following day. I explained to my ER Dr that due to my job, I would prefer to wait and have it done by a surgeon I know and trust, however Dr bittar said it is not in my best interest to wait, so I went ahead with the surgery. The Dr only gave me 20 seconds to talk before the surgery, and I didn't see him for post surgery till the next day. (I had to stay the night) he gave me maybe 3 minutes of his time and that was it. I left with his report saying I can do "daily activity as tolerated" I am a professional athlete who can't use her entire left arm! He also didn't prescribe any physical therapy! I finally see a proper orthopedic surgeon who couldn't believe the work Dr bittar did. 1: I could have waited to do the surgery and should have, he just wanted $$, 2: Dr bittar used too long of screws to connect my bones back together and it could potentially require more surgery so I don't have a tendon snap 3: the hardware surgically installed was slightly misplaced 4: he put me in an incorrect cast limiting movement and creating scar tissue 5: he didn't prescribe physical therapy 6: my stiches look like those on Frankenstein 7: I called his office over 8 times to try and schedule a follow up 8: when I finally got a call back they said they could see me in a month. WTF Dr Bittar does not care about his patients and nor does he perform good surgical work. Not only am I upset in general, but his work could inhibit my livelihood. Carlos J. - I was very apprehensive to see Dr. Bittar due to the fact that I did not make it to his office until 3 months after my injury. My Sports medicine doctor told me that I had torn my quads that it should have been repaired right after it happened and that possibly it may not be reparable. Needless to say that I went to Dr. Bittar who ordered the surgery stat. He reassured me that he would do everything he could to make me better. Dr Bittar told me he would have to put pins in my knee. Instead he was able to improvise, stretched my quad muscles and sutured them perfectly. On May 12th 2019 I was brought into the emergency room at the Henry Mayo hospital in Newhall. I had a very traumatic injury that occurred to my right arm. I was told that I needed emergency surgery because my right humerus bone was severely fractured. Dr. Bittar was the surgeon on call that day. I was very scared and nervous and Dr. Bittar explained in detail what he would be doing during surgery. It's now been 3 1/2 months and I have recovered extremely well, despite all the hardware I have 95% mobility back in my arm. I cannot express how grateful I am that Dr. Bittar was the surgeon on call that day! I've been back to his office for post check up appointments and his staff is always very accommodating and very friendly . BEWARE! Misdiagnosed my (78 yr old) mothers shoulder injury. He claimed no surgery was required and it would heal on its own. After a month of severe pain, I took her back home to San Diego for a 2nd opinion w/ SCRIPPS and it turns out she DOES require a shoulder replacement! Unbelievable....... THEN, when we reviewed the medical documentation from Dr. B., he didn't even have the correct shoulder noted!!! Really disappointed. read more

Dr. Bittar is okay as a doctor as he can be a little too conservative. I cannot comment on his surgical skill as I have not experienced that yet, but his weakest link is in his office staff as they are slow and uncaring. After I got my referral to see the doctor it took a month just to see him once I saw him it took his office 1 1/2 weeks just to submit the request for surgery to the insurance and now they are saying the soonest they can do the surgery is another month and a half. So that is 2 1/2 Months in constant pain with the staff constantly telling me sorry we are a busy office with no regard for me as a patient. read more

I called to follow up on a referral to Dr. Bittar for a fractured hand. The receptionist was extremely rude and rushed to get me off the phone. When I asked if Dr. Bittar's scope of orthopedic practice was absent of treating hands, she abruptly responded: "yes." Hand fractures are listed directly on Dr. Bittar's website, and more specifically, metacarpal bone fractures, which is what I have. I was placed on hold twice without any forewarning. Honestly, I'm glad now that I didn't get an appointment with this office. I'm posting this in hopes of making Dr. Bittar aware of how unprofessionally his receptionist does her job. Dr. Bittar did a surgery on my daughter, her ACL and meniscus, and we couldn't be more happy with the whole process. He is beyond professional and competent. He made sure she was prepared for the surgery and she is seen regularly and healing way before schedule. We were recommended to him by a nurse and a doctor. I was suffering from random ongoing shoulder pains for the last two years of my life and it was becoming unbearable. The unstablity of my shoulder went on for a while longer until I decided to go see a specialist. Upon meeting and talking to Dr. Bittar regarding my injury I knew that I was dealing with a very intelligent doctor and decided to put my trust in him for the surgery. Right away he instructed me to get an MRI which I did and the results showed what he had originally diagnosed, a labrial tear and susceptibe to more damage due to my active lifestyle. As he promised, the surgery went well. I was able to use my shoulder again without any pain. Nowadays it is hard to find a Doctor who cares about their patients and I feel fortunate to have met Dr. Bittar and put my trust in him to get me back to living my life. read more

I'm writing this review on behalf of my mother. This is also a super long one, so apologies in advance. My mom has had knee and ankle pains for quite a while now (mostly knee pains), so she finally decided to see a doctor. She first saw a family doctor, who then recommended Dr. Bittar. Since the guy was a specialist and my mom's doctor said that he was good, my mom went ahead and scheduled an appointment with him. She was told to come in 30 minutes prior to her appointment because of the paperwork that needed to be filled out. My mom and I get there 30 minutes early, she proceeded to fill out the paperwork, and then we ended up waiting for over two and a half hours before she finally got to see Dr. Bittar. When he finally saw my mom, he spent less than five minutes assessing my mom's situation and told her that she only has slight arthritis in her knees and doesn't require surgery (which was good to hear since she was worried she might need surgery). Having said that, he also said that he might need to give her cortisone shots on both knees and asked my mom *if she wanted to do that.* My mom, who has never been a fan of steroid shots, expressed her hesitation. His tone suddenly shifted and began to go on and on about how the shot will help her and that it's for her own good. At one point, he even told me (I was semi-translating for my mom since my mom sometimes has trouble properly expressing herself in English), "tell your mother she needs it. She needs to get it today. I don't know why she's being stubborn." So, he went from asking my mom if she *wanted* to do the shots to telling her that she *needs* the shots. Anyway, he stepped out for a moment and told my mom that he'll need some X-rays. That's pretty standard imo, especially considering that my mom has knee and ankle pains, but I thought it was kind of peculiar that he concluded that my mom needed the shots *before* taking a look at the X-rays. Long story short, my mom got the shots (he kept insisting so my mom decided to go for it), told my mom to go to therapy, and prescribed her some painkillers. He said that the shots should last for about a month or two. It only lasted for about a week. Then, the pain on her knees got worse. The painkillers didn't help either. They only made her super drowsy (she stopped taking them because she got scared of the effect). She was supposed to see Dr. Bittar a month after her initial appointment, but it got cancelled like a week prior because apparently he wasn't gonna be in the office that day. My mom rescheduled, and then three days prior to the rescheduled appointment, she got another call saying she'll have to reschedule again because Dr. Bittar won't be at the office on that day again. At that point, my mom decided not to call and to go seek another doctor. So, in conclusion, as much as my mom wanted to make things work with this doctor, she couldn't deny the fact that her experience was far from pleasant. She really wanted for things to work out, especially since the pain she's experiencing is terrible, but unfortunately, the doctor doesn't exactly have the manners or demeanor to make an already uncomfortable experience easy. So no...definitely will not recommend this guy. read more

I went to the Newhall Mayo Hospital ER in September with a severely broken Humerus. Dr. Bittar was called in to provide emergency surgery the next day. He did an excellent job and four months later I can say everything seems to be healing as expected. Yes, Dr. Bittar is a no nonsense surgeon. His appointments are quick and to the point. This personality may take some getting used to. It is also true that phone calls to the office are not eagerly returned. However, when it comes down to what mattered most for me, his skill as a surgeon is top notch. I expect to be fully healed and recovered in 2 months time (6 months from original surgery date), at which point I will update this review if needed. He referred me to a different dr for my surgery and I called the office to have my visit notes faxed over to my new surgeons office as well as my primary dr & pain management dr. He showed me my x-ray and said I was not bone on bone which was a shock because previous x-rays showed I was. He then gave me a cortisone shot. Then he said he really didn't want to address my knee until I lost weight. Then he got up and said come back if you need to. That was it! No follow up, nothing. Dr. Bittar is an amazing surgeon in my opinion. He did surgery on my left shoulder surgery 3 years ago when I was 47 and it turned out absolutely perfect! Fast forward 3 years and I went back to Dr. Bittar for another torn rotator cuff, this time on my right shoulder, however, this accident happened in 2005. My primary Dr. as well as many others thought my shoulder was too far gone, too much atrophied, not enough good tissue, blah, blah, blah.... When Dr. Bittar saw my MRI, he warned me that this surgery may or may not work due to the age of the injury, the thickness of the tear, and my age, now 50. I was confident that Dr. Bittar would do his very best and my hope was just to get rid of the pain from the last 17 years. Well, Dr. Bittar did my surgery on April 28th of this year, advised me not to start physical therapy for 8 weeks due to the severeness of my injury as well as the detailed surgery he had to do. So, I was able to start PT approximately June 23rd, with very limited movement, and now it's October 18th and I've got a clean bill of health! I saw Dr. Bittar this morning and he was so pleased with my progress he used phrases like, "way ahead of schedule", and "best possible outcome". I am thrilled and overjoyed that I can once again live pain free and resume all my daily activities. All my thanks to Dr. Bittar and the staff at Henry Mayo Clinic for taking such great care of me. Dr Bittar is absolutely amazing..he took on my case after I was in a car accident and seen at Henry Mayo Hospital ER..I had a severely bad broken arm and dislocated elbow..he came to my ER bed told me how bad it was and scheduled me for emergency surgery that same evening..as i lay there crying he was very straightforward told me i was in good hands and he would take care of me. Surgery went great..a plate and screws were used..i was put in a semi cast from my upper arm to my wrist for 2 weeks..before i was discharged his staff already made a follow up appt for me they were great. My follow up was fast and efficient, staples removed, X-rays done and Dr Bittar came came in to go over everything, he answered all my questions and i never felt rushed. My next follow up was 4-wks later and the same treatment, my appt ran on time, xrays done he pulled out 2 little stitches and again showed me how it's healing..i have 95% mobility/range of motion..I'm almost there!
