The doctor was a complete jerk and because she had to have special anesthesia was irritated that he had to apply it every 15 minutes. Why would someone want a needle jammed in their mouth every 15 mins if they didn't need it? She could have had her throat close up and died from it. He then proceeded to say at the end of the procedure that he was almost done so he didn't need to apply it again and it wore off. He then worked on her for 30 mins after the anesthesia wasn't working. It's been three months and she is still having problems with her mouth because of this unprofessional arrogant know it all. Needless to say, if you have any thing out of the ordinary then this doctor is not for you. He owns this place and thinks he's king of the endodontic world. Horrible customer service and I called to complain and they told me to write them a letter.

I agreed. After the root canal, I was sent a bill for almost $2,000, and was told that they had actually not run my insurance until the day after the procedure. After going back and forth with their billing department for 9 weeks, I was forced to pay the entire amount, with no offers of financial assistance plan. Do not make the same mistake by trusting that they will be transparent with you about costs, go elsewhere.

I had a cracked tooth a couple years ago that my previous dentist decided to put a crown on instead of root canal therapy. I was thrilled and elated that a root canal was not needed because of all the horror stories that usually accompany that kind of treatment. After the crown was put on, I experienced constant throbbing pain for the next month. They ended up having to adjust the crown and I still experienced constant aches for the next year and a half or so. Finally I had just about enough as I could no longer chew on the right side of my mouth, so I stomached the fact that I might have to get a root canal and made an appointment with a new dentist to get a "consultation" on whether a root canal was truly needed or not. The verdict after I left was... "You might need a root canal". Gee thanks I didn't realize that when I made the appointment. Anyway they gave me a referral to The Dental Specialists and sent me on my way with a bill for services rendered. After I got home, I researched the Dental Specialists and was kind of appalled honestly at all the terrible reviews this company has garnered. After noticing that they all seemed to be centered around appointments, and not about the procedure/dentists themselves, figured I'd give it a shot. I called them up, and scheduled an appointment, and received a confirmation a couple days before. No issues. The morning of the consultation, I showed up, got taken back promptly by an extremely sweet dental hygienist and within about 10 minutes Dr. Law was there in the room with me going over the tooth's history. 5 minutes later after some cold and pressure tests and such, deemed a root canal was needed. So...I laid back and accepted my fate and prepared for the worst. The dental hygienist gave me some ibuprofen before the procedure so that we could get a "head-start" on any discomfort that may arise. Here comes the Lidocaine... They offered me a pair of headphones and an adapter for my phone, which I promptly took, and told me to relax sit back and listen to some music and if they needed anything at all I could just raise my arm, and if they needed me they would tap me on the shoulder. I suppose people get kinda grossed out over the sounds made during this kind of procedure, so I put on some Boston's "More than A Feeling" I closed my eyes, and i slipped away. :) You probably won't believe this but I can honestly say that I experienced 0 discomfort during the entire procedure. I mean I knew they were working on the tooth and going inside the tooth because Dr. Law went through what the procedure entailed, but I couldn't feel anything. About 45 minutes later, they were all done and I was ready to get going. Dr. Law walked me out to the receptionist office to discuss my post-treatment plan. 600 mg of Ibuprofen every 6 hours was the recommendation so I shook his hand, told him job well done, and walked out. 6 Hours later I took 600 mg of Ibuprofen...not because I felt an extreme amount of discomfort, but simply because I expected it. Needless to say, I haven't taken any more pain pills for the tooth since the procedure after that initial dose. I can only credit this to the fact that Dr. Law did such an amazing job and turned this whole ordeal into a non-event. I can say that I am now able to chew on the right side of my mouth with absolutely no problem and all I'm doing now is kicking myself for waiting so long to get it done. Thanks Dr. Law for the amazing job and experience. Hopefully I never have to see you again for this kind of procedure, but should I have to, I know who I will be seeing.

Same day turnaround Dentist visits are not fun…read moreMade bearable here Switched over to Grandview Dental a couple years ago as I wanted to find something closer to home. Very glad I made the switch. The facilities here are top-notch. Large flat screen TV in the lobby while you are waiting along with an extensive magazine collection. Each of the treatment areas has a window to the outside along with a TV above you that you can control and headphones. Dr. Wolfe and his staff are super friendly as well. One thing that really impresses me about Grandview is that every time I have gone in for a cleaning and needed further work done, the work is done that same day. You do not have to reschedule for another later date. Huge timesaver. Who wants to go to the dentist's office more than they have to? I highly recommend Grandview if you live in the nearby vicinity.

I am not a fan of going to the dentist. At all. There are a whole bunch of things that I would…read morerather do than go to the dentist. I actually didn't go to the dentist for a number of years when I was younger until I realized how important it was to take care of your teeth. So when I did make an appointment, this is a true story by the way, the hygienist who cleaned my teeth brought out a whole tray of instruments. For those of you that have seen Braveheart, that is what it looked like to me. Then she begins to file.......er sharpen her instruments while I'm laying there in the chair! First of all I'm thinking that this should have been done BEFORE I arrived. Second I had a severe feeling of a lamb there for the slaughter. Needless to say that was the last visit to that dentist. We ended up moving and now we have been seeing Dr. Dunlap for the past several years. I am here to say that this is by far and away the best experience I have ever had. I have the same hygienist (Christy) which is nice for familiarity. Christy has worked there for 15 years. There is music to listen to and its not elevator music. They even have TV's in their rooms. Woodbury Family Dentist are very accommodating as they schedule my wife and I at the same time so we can both go at the same time. Dr Dunlap has also been wonderful to work with. A couple of years ago I chipped a tooth. I called and made an appointment to have my tooth looked at. Dr Dunlap used one of those "tools" to smooth out the rough area. My appointment did not take too long and as I got up to go pay she stated that there would be no charge! I was floored by this as I would expect to pay for any service regardless of time. This to me was a great example of how Dr Dunlap and her staff care for their patients. I still don't look forward to going to the dentist however if I am going to go to any dentist, its Dr Dunlap and her staff. I can't tell you how nice it is to have a quality medical professional of any practice to see. I am thankful that we can see Dr Dunlap.
