Negative experience with "Care quality." They don't care. They want people to come in, buy equipment & blindly do as they are told. Patient care is a ZERO star experience. You pay for bills over the phone, which is a huge red flag to me. You receive a call from an unknown number and are expected to pick up. Here's how they operate: They reschedule your agreed-upon appointment because apparently, their time is the only time that matters. But if you can't make the new time they forced on you? Absolute Joke! Two ladies sit at the front counter just chatting away everytime I visit. You call to talk with someone, no one answers the phone and you go into an endless call loop. 48 minutes later your still sitting on hold waiting. The worst part is I sent two emails prior to the call trying to get a response from someone, and they are still unaswered. All I wanted to do is cancel my appointment five days in advance. I had surgery for the Inspire device in August and follow-up with Valley Sleep in September. When I attempted to schedule another follow up to reprogram my device to help me be more successful, they couldn't take me for two months. It's a 5-minute fix. The appointment maker said she would contact the therapist to see if they could squeeze me but when I followed up via email, they said there were no notes to that effect and that they couldn't help me since it had been 3 months since my last appointment. Also, the online form system wasn't working and they asked me to "screen shot" each page and send it to them. Get it together Valley Sleep. This place is a joke, they just want your money. The doctors are nice at least, one doctor said from the sounds of it you have sleep apnea. They charged me $45 for the first visit, which should be free consultation! Then $195 for the at a home test. I had a phone call today to go over my results and they said that will be another $45 to hear your results! It was a 2 minute call to tell me I don't have sleep apnea. Then they told me today I owe another $85 on top of the $45 I had to pay today. They said after checking with my insurance company. I feel like I have paid enough to them! read more

The average hold time is 20 min and will result in a "they aren't available" and they won't call you back. They can't seem to get their own policies correct. This feels like a cash mill that just wants to charge you for services and provides zero customer service. I'd be happy to pay more for an office that can answer the phone and provide the care and pricing they stated over the phone. I had hoped all the bad reviews were incorrect but sadly they are not. I have been coming here for 9 years, and my husband for probably twice as long. Sadly, Valley Sleep Center has a monopoly in the Valley on this type of service so we're pretty stuck. Their lack of communication is beyond unprofessional -- you can talk to three people and get something approved, then start with someone else and they have no idea what you're talking about. Rude staff, 60-90 minute hold times, and communication is non-existent. I finally escalated several matters of unprofessional conduct and issues with a lack of communication -- for the second time in 3 months -- and was finaly told someone would call me. It should be noted that in setting up the call, I asked at least 3 times that I receive a text message before their Director of Patient Services, Lucy Parsons called and was assured "absolutely, she will text you ahead of time to ensure it's a good time." I work from home, have a heavy meeting schedule, and needed to ensure I could take the call. Did she call first? Of course not! When I noted that I'd asked 3 separate times - receiving confirmation each time - that I'd get a text first, her response was "My only intent was to get back to you as soon as possible." And a good Director of Patient Services would have listened to the patient who asked kindly - and repeatedly - to receive a text first since they could not commit to a call time. Lucy's strength is not communication, nor is it listening. She desperately needs a class in how to provide effective customer service because while she is hell-bent on defending her "large company" of 170 people and boasting about their 7 locations and counting, she loses sight of the fact that they have a well deserved 1 - 1.5 star rating on most review sites online. She also assured me that they've reached out to those people, personally, when I cited that not once, did I see they'd responded to their valid critics - of which there are many, and the complaints are consistent with what I escalated. She was so busy defending herself, her company and her leadership style (if you call it that) that my husband - who overheard the entire conversation - summed it up perfectly when I finally hung up on her out of frustration. The providers are just great. The company- not so much. If you think patients should wait on hold, while listening to their position in the queue decrease over the span of 18-20 minutes- only to be disconnected when told their call is being answered, then forced to leave a message which hangs up after 30 seconds- then you probably manage this outfit. It has happened to me three times (so far). You can also write a message in their patient portal- and have it ignored in writing. If the doctor-patient relationship is supposed to be nothing- this is perfect. And yes, I record the calls, and time them. read more

This is the most unprofessional company I have ever had the misfortune to have to deal with. My pulmonologist ordered a home sleep study with Valley Sleep at the end of March 2024 and it is now June and they have yet to schedule it. I have called and spoken with several different staff members during this period. There have been calls, that I initiated, back and forth between the pulmonologist office and Valley sleep, I have been told the order was not sent on several occasions despite the pulmonologist office assuring me it was sent, I was told the order was incorrect, I was told they were waiting for pre authorization even though when I spoke directly with my insurer I was told no pre authorization was required. More than a week ago I was finally told they had the correct order but now were sending it to a third party vendor who would mail me the device. Today, 8 days later, I received a message that they would be collecting a copay and I should call back, and no I have still not received the device. Calling back is also going to require yet another lengthy hold, up to an hour is how long I have waited in the past. Thanks to their incompetence and disregard for patient care I am also going to have to reschedule the follow up pulmonologist appointment which was to discuss the results of the test ordered 3 months ago. My health care is being held hostage by the incompetence of Valley Sleep. read more

I was a Valley Sleep Center patient for almost 3 years. I had my sleep study done there, and was fitted for a CPAP. All was fine, and I kept returning every year for my annual check up with Dr. Martinez. On my third annual check up, they lost me as a patient. Due to unforeseen circumstances, I was short $16 cash for the visit co-pay, even though I was able to make a partial cash payment, and they had my insurance coverage as well. Despite my being an established patient in good standing for years, with a good payment history, they declined to see me, because I was $16 short. Can you believe that? This sort of inflexibility makes me never want to come back to Valley Sleep Center again. Patient needs are definitely not first priority for this clinic. read more

I'm still a new patient here and I've been to this location a handful of times already and two more visits coming up this week. Maria Martinez right away upon meeting her apologized for the long wait. I found that impressive and neat because I honestly can't recall a doctor, staff member even to say they're sorry when they're in the wrong and I see A LOT of doctors and specialists!! She is patient, inquisitive, compassionate, and helpful. Thank you for that! The first time I did my sleep study at home the device (ring) came off my thumb and ended up on the ground next to my bed. I learned that the same thing happened to another patient. The only difference is she was recorded for 25 minutes and nothing showed up on my end. I thought I did something wrong or wore the ring the opposite way than it's supposed to be closest to my heart but everything I did was correct. The culprit the secretary said it could've been was I took off the ring to use the restroom and I use the bathroom a lot during the night. She told me what I need to do is keep the ring on and unplug my phone and bring it with me to the bathroom since the ring and phone have to be within 15 feet from each other. Something new that happened this time around is I received an "instructional video" via email that's posted on YouTube. After watching the 1 minute and 10 second video I had more questions than answers so I was frustrated and suggested to the secretary that they should change their video. I can't be the only one who looks at a video and wonders how to put the ring on (not just have it closest to your heart) and which direction the design on the ring should face, next can you lock your phone screen when the app they tell you to download is recording. Maybe if the video can be very descriptive about the ring and it's recording time there won't be any confusion. Also it's very important that everyone who works with patients are given the same information on how the ring and app work because no one told me to keep the ring on and just be careful when you take it off to wash your hands because it'll disconnect everything if the ring is off of you for a minute or longer. Off topic but when I was given papers to fill out and return had some incorrect information on there and I corrected one on the paper but it ever got changed and the other was my insurance name. I called to say it was wrong but the guy who answered assured me it was written down correctly. I even called my insurance company to ask and they agreed with me it was wrong. How do I fix that so my insurance companies are billed correctly? read more

What a horrible experience! I have fought with these people almost 2 years just to get a new cpap/bipap machine! They never did everything required on my first sleep study (we found this out from the supply company) so that delayed me getting my machine. It took multiple calls to get them to even send the right information to the supply company and then I find out I need an extra sleep study! I told them from the start I was not paying as they should have done everything correct the first time and now it's months later. The first sleep study was in August 2022 and I finally received my machine in February 2023! They are refusing to take off the $125 stating Medicare is to blame. Avoid this business if possible!! I previously had a neurologist who prescribed my machine and that's the only route I will go from now on! Went into get a new Cpap machine because my old machine crashed. I was told they would order from the supplier, and that it would be less than a week. After 2 weeks without a cpap machine. I was told it was never ordered, my insurance never got the claim for a new Cpap machine. I have no idea how they stay in business. I'm learning to live without Cpap. read more

My experience was definitely a mixed bag, but overall poor. Positive: The sleep tech for the study was great. Friendly, helpful, explained carefully, etc. The room was nicely set up, like a hotel room. Negative: Margena Branch, NP. I went in to discuss the results of the sleep study with her. She simply said: "Yes, you have sleep apnea." Then we stared at one another. I was waiting for some explanation, or understanding of the degree of apnea, or other results from the testing. Nothing. So I started asking questions. She looked frustrated and gave me a copy of the results. I then proceeded to ask: "What does this mean?" Curt answer and silence. So I repeated again and again on each test result and asked follow-up questions. It was like pulling teeth! You could tell she was frustrated with me. But, hell, my insurance is paying a lot of money for this and I feel like I deserved some feedback and understanding. Between the study and the follow-up session, I had done some research on machines, masks, etc. But in this session was basically given little choice, like it was pre-determined that I would need the machine and mask that they offered. I hate that kind of pressure. I took the results and the prescription (necessary to qualify for the machine), and left. And ended up getting a newer machine and mask from a local DME supplier who explained everything thoroughly and courteously. My insurance required a follow up visit after I had used the machine consistently for about a month. Unfortunately, it was with Margena again. I set the appointment, arrived on time, was told the session would only last about 15 minutes. I was put in a small room, waited 35 minutes for Margena. What was frustrating was that I could hear her socializing with someone outside of the room for virtually all that time while I waited. When she finally came in, glanced at the results, and said simply: "You passed your use test". Then stared. OMG -- again? So we went through the question and answer dance again for 3-4 minutes. I took the results and left. When I got my EOB from insurance for that last visit, she had charged for a 25-minute session. Her time with me was 5 minutes at most. Unbelievable! Avoid this place at all costs! They don't listen to your concerns, their at home sleep study technology doesn't work right, and then they base their clinical decisions on data that they admit to not being accurate. Finally, if you want to pursue anything further because you're told "you don't look like at sleep apnea patient" and their at home studies are crap, you need to cough up more money for an in-clinic study. Okay...well credit me for the at home study that didn't work and I'll pay the difference...nope, not possible. So I disputed the charge with my bank just to make a point and promptly got a bill in the mail. I only disputed it after multiple attempts to call, be put on hold in the queue, and never have my call returned by anyone in the actual clinic or the supervisor I requested. You can't get ahold of the clinic you want, it's always a call center with someone that can't help you. All this place cares about is money and not actually helping anyone. It's VERY telling when one of the providers tells you how horrible the service is after your appointment when trying to get information and check out. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere because it might cost a little more, but will save you a ton of frustration and stress in the long run! read more

Working in the Medical Field I know the importance of sleep but had been putting my sleep issues to the side for a while. I am glad I finally addressed them and am very happy with my experience at Valley Sleep Center. Dr. Martinez was very easy to talk to and she really listened to me and my concerns. My home sleep test was ordered. Due to my insurance guidelines this was the quickest to be approved and didn't require a prior authorization. I picked up the equipment from Michelle who explained the "how to's" simply and completely I left feeling confident this would be a smooth process. Afterwards, my test and the results were thoroughly discussed and the treatment options explained to me and I was comfortable knowing and understanding what the plan of action would be. My APAP was ordered and I was set up by Francisco. He was very thorough in explaining everything to me about my new PAP and making sure I left feeling at ease with my equipment and the mask that I was fit with. I am very happy with the all of the people I have encountered and the care I received. I have already, and will continue to recommend Valley Sleep Center to anyone who would like to address their sleep issues. read more

I loved that I got a call back authorizing the sleep study - covered by my insurance company - but did not learn until 2 months after while I'm on my way to better sleep that this place was out of network. I know that I could have done more homework, in fact, I thought I had. It all sounded like it was going so smoothly. In order to meet my OON deductible, I'm now stuck with almost $1000 in bills for equipment. I heard: "It looks like you've met your deductible." (this is for the doctor's visit) "You're so fortunate that your insurance company is generously paying for all of this." (this is for the equipment) What happened: None of that. Advice: GET IT IN WRITING OR RECORDED FROM THE FRONT DESK, THE BILLING DEPARTMENT, AND THE CLINICIAN THAT OUTFITS YOU WITH YOUR MACHINE HOW MUCH YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY IS PAYING BEFORE YOU TAKE A SINGLE THING HOME. read more

I needed a sleep study done. I was referred to Valley Sleep Center by the V.A. through Tri West. My first appointment was with Dr Maria Martinez. She was an excellent doctor. She took the vitals that she needed and had me set up the sleep study date and follow up date. I spoke to the scheduler and was asked what day would be best. I said ASAP. I also asked if a recliner was available because I sleep with my head and chest elevated to cut down on snoring and the coldest room the had because I sleep better in a cold environment. She said she would arrange the recliner or a "hospital" bed. I was scheduled for Saturday night. I arrived at 2015. I went in and was given a small amount of paperwork to do, met the technician that would monitor my study and try different masks based on the results of no mask, nostril mask and full face mask. I thought I would have a hard time sleeping. I SLEPT LIKE A BABY!! Everyone was very courteous and professional!! My tech was an older Filipino gentleman that explained everything step by step as he did the wiring hook up to monitored heart, breathing, brain waves and gathered other data for the test! All went very well!! THE TECHNICIANS WERE ALL VERY COURTEOUS AND VERY CARING PEOPLE!! I had an OUTSTANDING EXPERIENCE WITH THIS TEST!! read more

Horrible experience from beginning to end. I was referred to this center by my doctor at Midwestern University Multispecialty Clinics. My sleep study was conducted in a dismal, dark, dank facility. It was relatively clean, but all the rooms were brown, including the carpeting. I kept my socks on. The sheets and blankets on the bed were worn and frayed. My sleep therapist was nice enough, but her colleagues talked loudly in the halls and in the other rooms all night long, making it even more difficult to sleep. They forced everyone up at 5:30 in the morning. When I got home the first thing I did was take a shower. But the story doesn't end there. Eight weeks after my sleep study, they have still not gotten me my CPAP machine, which their own physician highly recommended based on my sleep study. Their excuse is that the machines are back ordered. Fair enough. But not one person has contacted me over a month to give me an update. I would avoid this sleep center like the plague. It was a terrible experience that I would not wish on anyone. read more

Do not take your young child or toddler here! Go to another sleep center. My husband did a sleep study at another place and he checked in about 7:45pm and was woken up about 6am. At Valley Sleep Center, my 2-year-old daughter could not check in until 8:40pm (their standard check-in time), which is already past her bedtime, and it was close to 10 before she could even try and go to sleep. Then, even though their website states they will wake you up between 5:30 and 6:30, they woke up my poor, exhausted girl at 5am! This center is definitely not child friendly. The worst most frustrating experience I have had in years. It's hard enough to sleep in a strange environment, hooked up to wires but then you have staff constantly making noise. I kept hearing talking in the hallway, opening doors and the buttons on the microwave. It took hours to get to sleep. This test cost me over $400 dollars out of pocket and I certainly did not feel I got value for my money. I never got to try the CPAP due to not being able to get to sleep and meet the criteria. That was one of my main goals. I feel cheated out of this. One suggestion might be that I could have been told to come in dead tired by staying up longer than usual (and have someone drive me in) so as to get to sleep easier. My technologist was nice and knowledgeable. I could rant on more but you get the point. I'm going to bed to get some good sleep. read more

Maria Martinez was my 6 year olds sleep study's doc and I must say she was very professional and was very nice she took the time to explain every detail when did not understand certain situations or things she took the time to explain very kindly and was very nice to my child when my child was wanting to be a part of it and you know when kids sometimes are a little too nosy she was very friendly to her including her in she provided us all documents with all details of the sleep study and what my 6 year old experiences in sleep and what they have recorded and gave us her recommendation and let us give are input never push her input onto us like some doctors do she understand are considers and helped us with everything gave us the tools that we needed to make us feel satisfied Incase of I think she was over all a fantastic doctor! That's what you would call a doctor I would definitely recommend this place and this doctor to anyone having problems! read more

I've been coming to Valley Sleep Centers for a long time now, it's a phenomenal place! Most of all Dr. Maria Martinez is a life saver!!! I have sleep and wake problems and she has helped me with both. Things have been so much better since I started seeing her. I saw another Doctor before her for 8 years and I thought I had the best until she moved and I started seeing Dr. Maria Martinez. I've come down about half way on my meds now! She is hands down the kindest Doctor I've ever had. She always makes me feel great with her positive personality and her knowledge of the issues I have. I never knew that my problems could get so much better and it wouldn't have happened without her! I hope she never moves out of state cause I don't know what I'd do.
