They even allowed a family member to transport me so I didn't have to wait 6 to 9 hours for an ambulance to be available. I had a great experience. Caring kind staff. Miguel was the first nurse I met. He was professional and knew so much. He was training a new nurse and he treated her with respect and guided her kindly. He said she was going to be an awesome nurse! I agree. The teamwork, kindness and details taken were great with me and others. The doctor and specialist were so kind. The neurologist cleared me and with my facial numbing spreading the doctor offered for me to stay one more night if I liked for observation. I like how they have transporters who's job strictly is to take patients for testing or to the door to be released. The bed was comfy. Even the transport beds. The hospital room food was delicious. The nurse Ashley I had the next day was great as well. Sometimes you have to wait for a nursing assistant. They probably could have used 2 on the floor as busy as they are. Helpful hint. My roommate was not allowed to walk on her own and if it took a long time for the NA to come she we found if you took some weight off the bed it sets off a loud alarm. They come right away! =) She was very kind and understanding as a patient. It works both ways! My mom had watched the girls while I was there as my husband gets to work all Labor Day weekend, and she is a feeder! Our one our daughters went to bed with a tummy ache and woke up nauseous. She began having fainting spells. Knowing it was her vagus nerve I didn't panic, but it continued to happen and she was tired. I played safer than sorry after talking with her on call pediatrician. They recommended a visit so we were back, but in ER. Patients screaming in pain, yelling, crying had me in tears as I do not do well in hospitals. I heard doctors and nurses giving comfort. Reminding patients not to apologize as they understood they were in pain and that it will be okay calming them down kindly. Working so well together and being professional. Patients walking right up to the doctor station asking questions rather than waiting received kind answers and comforted. Amber, a nurse was really getting a hard time from a patient and she took it like a pro. Treated him well and kept on trucking. This is what patients want to see. This is what the hospital wants to hear and knowing that Banner reads their reviews I thought it was important to share. Funny how we can't wait to get care inside the hospital then can't wait to get out! They do a good job getting paperwork fast so you can be on your way. Makes room for the next patient faster. If you are coming to visit a family member who is arriving by ambulance just walk in emergency entrance and the security officer is on the right. I like how you check out and they go over all the treatment paperwork with you. It now has a handy QR code printed on it so you can pull up all tests results, like blood, MRI and CT scans for example. That way you can be prepared if you need to follow up with your primary care doctor or specialist.

So I went on a Thursday at about 1pm and was out of the ER by 2:30pm. I interacted with a lovely, blonde lady at the front desk, 3 nurses, Dr. Oscislawski, and an X-ray tech. Everyone was pleasant, professional and respectful. Very different experience than at another local ER I've been to. The thing about Yelp is have to consider that people are hurt and sick and if the care is not as expected, they will more than likely write a review if they felt they received poor care. And that is not to diminish anyone's lived experience. But how many will write reviews to praise staff and their experience? Interestingly, the X-ray machine was brought to my room (the gentleman explained that it's because my issue was smaller and could be done this way but won't apply for every x-ray). The kind woman at the front desk (I hate that her name escapes me now), came to my room and asked for my payment, which I thought was odd. Perhaps, a portable credit card machine might be a better option here. No disrespect to her but I'm not letting anyone take my credit/debit card out of my sight. So I just paid after I was discharged and leaving. The lobby was empty so that might not always be an efficient way to do it for them. For me, my issue was not life-threatening but I was handled with care and will definitely be bypassing the other ER for a better experience at Abrazo.

Plenty of spots close to ER and general entrance after driving through ER drop off. Hubs was admitted fairly quickly and I was able to follow after they got his preliminary vitals. ER doctors and staff were knowledgeable and professional while keeping great bedside manner and keeping me involved and informed. I learned that morphine is not only a pain killer but helps blood flow and not clot in heart attack victims. Also, to keep chewable baby aspirin at home in case of heart attack (for acute use, not to use daily). Hubs was taken to the Cath Lab as soon as possible and prepped for catheter probe, awaiting arrival of Dr. Shaia, the cardiologist. I was led to the waiting room and informed about timelines for procedure. The nurses pointed out where visitor restrooms were. My only complaint is that a couch, no matter the size or type, be placed in the waiting room. Since no one was there between 3:00am and 6:00am, I stretched out on a low long table with my head on the chair to try to catch a few minutes of sleep while waiting. When procedure ended, Dr. Shaia came out and took time to explain results and answer my questions. I was then asked to follow hubs and nurses to the ICU, where I was taken to the ICU waiting room while they got him settled in a room. Because he wasn't a critical care patient, more than two were allowed in his room. His Unit 3A RN, Paulo, was excellent. He cared for hubs and provided me with information and was positive and friendly. Yves, his NA, was also great. It was explained to me that morning that Del E. Webb specializes in gastrointestinal issues, while Banner Boswell specializes in cardiology, and to prepare for him to be transported sometime that day whenever a doctor and a bed became available. When ready, he was taken by ambulance to Boswell. This all happened smoothly and before bedtime that night. I had so many worries when arriving, choosing this hospital because it was closest to me, and not knowing about staffing since it was so close to Christmas and holidays. I feel like I made the right choice. This hospital gave hubs great care.

The one nurse, I didn't like her demeanor but I understand she was trying to help me as well as do her job, but I was laboring fast and could barely even move. It wasn't my first baby, I have had WAY better experiences elsewhere but I also have all my kids in a different state.. the maternity ward is significantly outdated , rooms ran down and super small. The food was nasty. Other than the one nurses demeanor the rest of the staff and nurses I had were very friendly. I had my son within barely a hour after arriving to the hospital so they weren't able to see what labs I had or hadn't had while I was pregnant, come to find out one test I should've had when I was pregnant wasn't order by the doctor so I had to get the test ran after my son was born and I had to stay a extra day due to waiting on getting the lab results back. I had no issues during the labor process itself, honestly one of my easiest, fastest labors but probably because I arrived at the hospital at 8 cm basically ready to already push. I would not want to deliver here again unless I absolutely had to.

One would think a simple call to the billing department would correct this error? It took 18 months of supplying my insurance information over and over and over. Being called a liar and told to just pay up. They said they had billed my insurance- but they never did. And lied about it continuously! I have some of the best insurance in the country and they didn't even have a W8 on file for Banner, because they don't do their job in the billing department and actually bill. I wrote headquarters and even filed a BBB complaint. It was a 10k+ colonoscopy that was a pain in my arse for months on end! I was talked own to, told all they can do is bill it and if my insurance doesn't pay that I must. 25 years and 5 kids and not once had this issue or had to pay out. Do NOT trust them to set you up or bill properly. Go somewhere else for care. Finally, after at least 100 calls and me guiding my insurance company like I worked for Banner, it got paid. But not before they lost the payment and my insurance company had to reissue it! They are a nightmare!

On July 3rd, 2026 our daughter was experiencing severe left flank pain with associated nausea…read more Based on our clinical experience, as well as our own personal histories with kidney stones, my wife and I easily recognized that our daughter was experiencing a kidney stone of her own. At about 1AM we took her to the stand-alone ER at Honor Health Complete Care in Surprise, AZ. Once she was taken to the treatment area, a saline lock was placed. When Dr. Heather Ogden-Hamilton came in to the room, she did a cursory physical exam, and then proceeded to tell her that her pain was likely musculoskeletal. She ordered a muscle relaxant and oral ketorolac and a CT scan. All the while, the doctor continually dismissed the severity of our daughter's pain. Once the CT was done, the doctor returned and informed our daughter that she had a 5mm stone in her left kidney, but that it shouldn't be causing as much pain as she was experiencing, and continued to attribute the pain as musculoskeletal. She was eventually discharged, and the doctor faxed prescriptions for Flomax, cyclobenzaprine, ketorolac, and oxycodone. It should be noted that our daughter was given NO IV fluids during her time in the ER (which, along with adequate pain management, is standard of care for patients with acute pain from kidney stones). When we went to pick up the prescriptions from our pharmacy, all but the oxycodone were filled. The opioid was not filled because, in Arizona, controlled substances are required by law to be ordered electronically (fax does not count), a fact that is pretty well known by any provider who has practiced in the state since the law was passed in 2017. It was 3 days from discharge to when she finally was able to get the prescription sent electronically. On the morning of July 20th, she had a return of her severe pain, and had to be taken back to the ER (a different one), where she was given appropriate pain relief and IV fluids, and a repeat CT scan was done. The new scan revealed that the stone was, in fact, 7mm (a huge difference in terms of kidney stones) as well as hydronephrosis and acute kidney damage. She was admitted and scheduled for a lithotripsy the next day. Unfortunately, because her ureters are very narrow, the urologist had to place a stent and have her return in 2 weeks for a second attempt at the procedure. Once they do the procedure, she will need to have the stent remain for a few weeks. The urologist also indicated that she may well have some degree of permanent kidney damage. Had Dr. Ogden-Hamilton made an accurate diagnosis of the size of the stone, and had she acted appropriately in managing the issue (i.e. a transfer to a higher level of care), there would not have been a delay in definitive treatment, and she could have been spared unnecessary pain and kidney damage.
