Since then we have found tons of landfill including caution tape, plastics, crushed aerosol cans with sharp edges, baseball hat pieces, we've even found a ripped dollar bill. No clue here. They are sold out always. Takes awhile to figure this out. Told you can buy same day if they have it...hmmm. The ladies who answer are nice BUT you never get complete info from them. First thought I could pu same day....depends if they sell out but how do you know?? So told Order 1 day ahead of time. Fine. Then the days, times, delivery all get mixed up. 1. Must order 1 day ahead BUT 2. If you want delivery that's 3 days or more 3. If you pick up it's not their opening hr. 7:30 but later but that varies.... 4. Sometimes being told 8:30 is really 12? 5. Well that depends if it's Monday then all's late so avoid MONDAY 6. But you are not told about Monday so you hire a crew to pu at 8:30 am 7. If you're short then they do not know which grass !! Appears there are TWO possible places 8. You have to drive your short order back w your grass to see which it was 9. Prices change if you pu yourself or if they deliver your grass per sq foot 10. Deliver is not just a delivery fee you have to find out the grass fee per sq foot increases as well... You have to be Sherlock Holmes if you never bought sod to figure this out. As you can see this all very time consuming and Wtfk confusing as hell. The first order of grass was way fresher and nicer than the second which looked more dry. End result is okay but think this place is more for people who do this on a regular basis. Think spent too much time on this simple grass buy. I did not save anything since figuring out the missing info on each phone call was a real challenge. Took me two weeks to do the lawn with delays, sold outs, delivery options and my guys pu delays. Looks okay done and hope it stays healthy. Read reviews after this buy and some people said their grass died ... here's hoping mine stays green. read more

My elderly father was going through some very tough times, so I had the idea to put a lawn in his backyard and brighten up the place. He called several places for quotes and settled on Valley Sod. When the sod was delivered it was yellowed already and much of it unusable. It's a small yard, but we did have enough for the gardener to use. Our neighbors' gardener said that it wasn't very good sod after a month or so when we asked him to look at our yard (photos provided) and that we were doing everything right. I can't tell you how bad I felt. Here, my father, whose wife is dying of cancer was so excited about making his yard nice and the grass just didn't work out. I, on the other hand, went about sending emails and pictures to the owners, managers, someone who could help us and I got tossed around from different people. I never heard from anyone. I sent a few more emails asking for someone to assist me with this. Nothing. Essentially, my problem is this after all the expense of purchasing sod, soil, top soil, delivery, and other services, you would expect to receive some assistance as to how I could make it grow (clearly from Scott L.'s photos, I'm not the only one that that has happened to). All I was asking was for a partial refund in my emails, but since I'm in the legal field I'm going to have to take a day off of work to help my father present this in Small Claims court. I applaud his persistence with this, but this is going to cost me more than the $1,457 he is suing for. read more

Nice place I was actually with my mother in law looking for a place that gives free dirt, unfortunately they had closed it and I was lucky enough to spot this place and was really cheap but quality dirt for gardening just around 17$ for 1/2 a yard of good dirt I used for my garden, my veggies and plants are healthy with this dirt and I will be coming back for more when I buy my own home! Great service they over charged me by mistake (I paid half most of it with cash but wasn't inform about the 10 limit for cardsand I informed them about it and within a day or two I was given my money of course they had to investigation to confirm like any other business would. read more

We have been really happy with Valley Sod Farm! After a nightmarish experience trying to order sod from Home Depot, we looked around and were so happy to find this place! They have amazing prices. We ordered 200 square feet of RTF sod and it was like $85. Home Depot was charging at least 2x that. Then, a week later we decided we needed a little bit more and we ordered 80 sq feet for $35. It's gorgeous and healthy sod, that has totally reinvigorated our back yard! Ordering couldn't be easier and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend! read more

Ordered 590 sq ft of St Augustine and got just over 500, at least half of which was yellow, dried out, all different heights, and pretty much unusable. Client extremely unhappy; had to order more from Sod Depot, which was perfect -- thick, dark green, and slightly cheaper. Complained but never heard back. Do not under any circumstances use this company unless you're ordering thousands of st ft, in which case they may slightly give a damn. Assume almost certainly that any recent positive reviews are fake. read more

If I could give zero stars to this business I would. The complete dehumanizing way that the owner of the company spoke to me is unacceptable for any business. We double and triple checked measurements the first time we ordered the grass and the first time we received the shipment of grass we were significantly short on grass and so we proceeded to order more grass to cover it. When we called the second time, we gave a boy (the son of the owner) the exact numbers 3 times for him to tell us how many palettes of grass that is, when he told us the amount was close to half of what we ordered the first time we knew it was incorrect and we tried to tell him that but he told us that it was still 5 palettes worth. The driver dropping it off also told us that it was too much grass for what we still had to fill. At no surprise to anyone, we had 600 extra square feet of grass after installing the remainder, an additional thousand dollars. I called the owner of the company today and he immediately defended himself, without even offering to double check to make sure the numbers they recorded were accurate. He was incredibly rude, without even offering to discuss a solution blamed me for giving them wrong numbers and I honestly don't know how a company like this runs with someone who speaks like that to women, especially in these difficult times. Do Not Purchase from Valley Sod Farm. I ordered 1050 SF SA Grass and they told me this was the last day of the cut. The price was a little cheaper than other places. When my driver picked up the grass, it was 300 SF less than my ordered. I contacted the manager (Daniel) but he accused my driver vanished 300 SF grass on his way from the store to my house. Because my driver was a very good friend of mine but he was Latino. I end up buying different grass from another place the missing 300 SF. I contacted my bank and forced the store to accept they actually didn't give me enough based on my actual ordered. Some one from store contacted me again and apologized for what happened. The quality of the grass is very bad. It's almost like a dead grass to me. The other 300 sf from other store is very look green and growing but not the one from Valley Sod. The manager is asking you to count all of the pieces they gave me 1 x1 foot. Still they put the blame on my Latino worker. Please pay more but don't do business with this dishonest people. read more

I purchased 200 Sq. Ft of St. Augustine Sod a couple weeks ago. I needed an aggressive grass by my partition and the side walk. My neighbors grass has Bermuda and some South African Grass that took over my Tall Fescue. Valley Sod Farm was able to get me St. Augustine. You can't really have this ordered in many places, but they were able to get it shipped in. Their prices are very fair, and they're very helpful. If anyone needs sod... buy theirs. After a month I was ready to write a glowing review. The counter people, the price, and delivery, all very good. Unfortunately, their product is crap. I was told and their website states that RTF tall fescue will grow in sun and shade and in all weather, not true. Even though I had it professionally installed, followed the recommended watering schedule after about 2 months it died. The sod under trees faired better but anything in the sun most of the day died. All I have is rock hard dirt. The dirt they use was so hard when i tried to till it to plant seed I bent the tines of a metal rake. When I removed the layer of dirt that came with the sod the ground underneath is soft and I was able to plant seed that is growing. read more

Ordered sod 3 days before I needed delivery. I was very specific about getting it in the morning. Received my receipt from them with morning delivery printed on receipt. Waited for hours for the sod on the morning of the scheduled delivery. Called valley sod and was told that it would be around 1 in the afternoon. So I'm left hanging with a crew that I am paying by the hour with no sod. They were less then helpful about their lack of promised delivery time. They blamed the rain. I reminded them that I asked them about that when I ordered and they said it would be no problem. However when I brought this up they said they did not know it was going to rain. Called and inquired about price & delivery, was told to just give them a couple of days notice before expected delivery date. Called back and ordered on Thursday, received sod as promised on Monday around 11am. 2000 sq ft of sod for my front & back. Cheaper than Marathon, though I may like the look of Marathon a little more, but RTF is supposed to be more drought resistant. So I'm figuring it's worth the trade, especially as it still looks very good. And this grass is supposed to thatch, whereas Marathon doesn't.
