This groovy West Valley gem in the heart of Canoga Park is located on Sherman Way, across from Follow Your Heart, between Jordan Avenue and Vasser Avenue. It's open from 8am to 5pm daily with an all-star cast of incredible knowledgeable and caring individuals who help keep GTN great. Grab a wagon and load up because you won't know when to stop with some many great plants, deals on supplies and their inviting layout. As a small chain of garden centers meets plant nurseries I have to say this location stands out. Their online shop is easy also with get learning materials, newsletters , resources and even a plant library. I'll never forget my first trip here with my friend Sam, definitely need to hit her up again for a plant day, but absolutely still enjoy coming here with others and of course solo for some planty self-care. Adding some Elephant Bush (Portulacaria afra) friends to the plant family at home. Absolutely and 818/SFV/LA Valley favorite among many. You'll want to get lost between the many areas the have here and in the main area as well as their extended open air garden on the parking lot side. Staff here is very personable and extremely knowledgeable. From lawn and outdoor patio furniture or fixtures, fountains, decorations and plant care musts, GTN has a bit of it all. Even fun seasonal items and sales. Entrance in back, where you'll also find their parking lot, fairly spacious, but it can and does fill up on weekends. Restroom available for customers. read more

Someone recommended Green Thumb Nursery so I went and checked it out also reviews were good. I redid the front of my home and wanted to add some new plants . I walked in from the front as my 1st time being there and wow the place is very big and they have a wide selection of Indoor and outdoor plants and everything you can imagine for gardening. I went all the way to the back and found some one to help me and we looked around and guy seemed pretty knowledgeable but didnt he seemed like he was busy to help and out to no where he goes I have to go to lunch hmmm ok anyways I ended up looking around some more and found few I liked. You wouldn't expect such a huge nursery to be located in this area but they have a large selection of plants from tropical to flowers, vegetables, herbs, fruit trees, succulents, & seeds. They also have a large selection of soil and fertilizer/ pest management products. I went in looking for herbs to make teas & found some chamomile, peppermint & some seeds to plant lemon balm & bergamot. Love supporting a smaller business, rather than some megastore like Lowes or Home Depot. Last year we came here to purchase a Christmas Tree and we returned again this year. They have kind, helpful employees and convenient delivery service. The delivery was very prompt and the gentlemen who brought our tree in and placed it where we wanted it were kind and helpful. Besides the trees, they have a huge Christmas shop this time of year (with a sprinkling of Hanukkah items as well) and a variety of plants, garden-related items, and beautiful planters. Gorgeous nursery tucked away in the valley. A very popular site in the valley for beautiful plants, succulents and cactus. Highly recommend. A large variety of plants, Christmas decor, planters, herbs, fountains, cleaners and garden supplies. Make sure you exit the store in back and walk to the large nursery out back. Holy Moly! This is definitely the best nursery I have been to in the area. A few highlights: -extensive selections of fertilizers -impressive plumbing/sprinkler repair/irrigation section -large selection of different varieties of trees (for example: they had 6-7 types of avocados in stock) -GORGEOuS and well maintained grounds with blooms everywhere -native plant section -tropical plant section -veggie seedlings on sale I could go on. Let me start out by saying my mom used to take me here on the weekends for all her gardening need. As a kid I loved it and it was a treat to go there. That was in the 60's. Today was my 64th birthday, and my husband and I drove to the San Fernando Valley for lunch and because I wanted him to see Green Thumb Nursery. It has grown quite a bit since I was there last. They have so much stuff to look at, plants, yard art, fertilizers, tools, pottery..... you name it they have it. And the people that work there are top notch. They can answer any questions you have. I was searching for carnivorous plants in the area, and the San Fernando Valley has quite slim pickings in that department. Thankfully, Green Thumb Nursery popped up and sure enough, I was able to pick up a Sarracenia and Nepenthes during my first visit here. Eventually I would return here multiple times to check for new carnivorous plants and have since learned to call ahead because the drive isn't too awful, it is still a drive for me. This place has a pretty large selection of plants for your different needs. Vegetable and herb gardening, indoor plants, succulents, trees, it has it all. Also plenty of garden supplies. Air plants, aquatic plants. It's truly a wonderland here. Obviously, I was sold by their tagline of being a Disneyland for plants. The people working here are all super helpful and friendly. They were also amazed at the plants they sold too. Last week I picked up a Drosera, Dionaea, and two more Sarracenias, all for my carnivorous plant garden. Oct 2023 Service is exceptional. There was a younger kid that helped me out in the plastic pot section. He was really good about carrying through with all my requests, getting prices, etc. In terms of the products available here, I was on a mission this time around to try to find some really thick plastic or resin 10-in to 12-in pots for outdoor use. They do have some good ones that are smaller size like 8", but not quite what I was looking for. When it comes to quality, what I'm looking for in plastic or resin pots is material that is at least 1/8 to 1/4 inch thick. Otherwise, the plastic tends to crack after time in direct sunlight. The 8-in pots here are perfect if you like that concrete look, but want something lighter in weight. And they do fit the criteria of quality. If you're reading this, and you're looking for something smaller in the 8-in size, these resin pots might be perfect for your application. I did find a couple items that were really fairly priced. One of them was the wooden trellis at $17. This is double the thickness of material, and more heavy duty Staples than anything you'll find at home depot. I believe regular price was around $35 or so. They were on sale, so I picked a couple up. Great for growing vine type plants. The other item I found that was really durable were the 11-in resin saucers at $9-11. These things are at least an eighth of an inch thick, super durable, and designed to last for years in hard, direct sunlight. Price depends on the color, so choose wisely. Unfortunately, the pots that are supposed to go with the saucers didn't have the same thickness of material. Otherwise I totally would have bought the matching pot and saucer as a set. read more

Honestly, the staff is amazing. There is always someone close by, ready to answer questions or lead you to a plant. The soil and amendment selection is great as well. But, the plant selection has gone down a bit, and the prices have shot way up over the past few years. We will still be coming here for the specialty plants. We've visited different times during the year for the past couple of years and the variety of greens they offer is still very impressive. And the plants are in good condition too. Every time I go here it's a bigger and bigger disappointment. For what they charge, you would think their selection would be TOP NOTCH. It's anything but.. most plants look under watered and unhealthy. Good luck trying to get help. Not saying all the people who work there are this way, but I always speak with some of the guys in the outdoor garden department who act like they couldn't care less about helping you out. They are beyond annoyed they have to get out of their chair and stop watching the baseball game on their phones to help you. It's seriously sickening. Is this place run by a family? It seems like there is something going on where the employees feel entitled to not give a F. I say drop your prices, fire the staff that's not up to the job, and get on the right track. I dropped in at the Canoga Park store today for the grand opening. Staff was knowledgeable and friendly. Neat, organized, and well stocked. I'm not really a marijuana smoker, but they helped me find something sweet for the pain. Very efficient. I was in and out in a few minutes. I could see people were having a good time. Large nursery super close to home! Yay! Everyone at Green Thumb is very welcoming and friendly. They are working hard especially with handling questions from all new covid-era gardeners like myself. I am grateful for their support! I have come in a few times to get things like seeds, soil, flowers, herbs, and trellises and have been quite successful! They have a great selection of so many different plants. I am excited for my next trip to see what I can find. I feel like I always see something new when I go!
