I purchased a Ushio brand MH light bulb a couple months back, and after pulling it out the box and plugging it into my DE fixture, to my dismay, the bulb would not power on. After thoroughly and reasonably explaining my situation over the phone to an employee at this location (since they don't allow walk-ins at the moment), they refused to exchange the item, or even take a look at it. It's unfortunate, as I've done well over $100k in shopping from Greencoast over a several year span, and I certainly won't be back. This company has a policy of not accepting returns except for store credit. They enforce this policy without any discretion at all. Just had a brand new broken piece of equipment, and they would only give me store credit. So now they've tied my money up without compensating me for interest on my money. This store will never see me again after I use this credit up. Very bad business practices. This is the second time this happened, and I was absolutely stunned this time as the mistake was on their end by selling me a faulty product. Green acres is about 10 minutes away and it's filled shelves and actual knowledgeable friendly staff. If you're the owner of green coast spend some time in your store. Hauled ass across town to make it before 6p and they said that someone took it earlier and they all pretended they didn't talk to me. Once arriving, I inform the gentleman behind the counter that I called ahead about price matching and was here to make my purchase. I didn't recall who I spoke with on the phone so I watched him inspect my print out with a look of doubt. I was under the impression he was going to get help. I walk around the shop, seemingly unnoticed, get back to the counter and I'm standing there like an idiot waiting to be helped. I'm one of maybe two customers in the store. I ask someone else about my price match and it's the guy that I spoke with on the phone. "Oh you called before. I got you. I'll be right back." Gets back, stares at paper, looks at coworker, asks who wants to tell me, they look at each other stupidly and one of them tells me they can't do it. W.T.F. Why was the price ok on the phone then? "It's an internet store." I said no, it's a retailer with a storefront in AZ. They came back with an offer that's $70 more. I left disappointed and made my purchase from growershouse.com. I'm just happy it wasn't too far of a drive. One star for wasting my time and not even researching the competitor. I usually shop at the Santa Barbara location but I travel down to LA for dj work often and decided to try out this location. The first time I enter this location I was greeted right away with a handshake and introduction also offered help if I had absolutely any questions. I came in for tupar soil but they didn't stock it at this location but they were quick to help me pick a substitute and they even got me a cart & helped me load up my cart with bags of the soil. I continued shopping for my nutes and got what I needed. I have no complaints about the "angry rap music" it's a hip staff working 5 min of rap music isn't going to make or break my day or scare me away , that's just a little dramatic. I made my purchase and customer service was helpful till the end. I now have made 2 trips to this store and again I was greeted as soon as I walked in with a "hello how ya doin, if you got any questions feel free to ask". Great customer service again till the end. I have no complaints aside from they didn't have a few products that I am used to getting at my other location. If they had the same products as other locations I would give it 5 stars. But I understand that it is supply and demand. Overall I will be coming back , great customer service and I actually enjoy the vibe in this location. Hip urban cool. GreenCoast is awesome for organic gardening of all kinds. Just went in today because the normal garden store has such a limited stock of organic insecticides and fungicides that I've been ordering all mine from amazon and waiting weeks (which is a recipe for disaster with gardening issues). This place had better prices, their selection was amazing and it's right down the street for me! They had literally every fertilizer combination in existence and specialized things like a liquid calcium blend I needed for some tomatoes to curb blossom end rot. The staff was very helpful and the store is laid out well. I don't know why I would go anywhere else! read more
