Let me start off by saying this is my first ever review on YELP for any business. This is unlike me but today was the third thing to bother me about Valley Vet. I brought my former dog in for a groom only to have his eye get hit with the grooming shears (obviously accidental) and it caused a hematoma of the eye. I have videos of him in the parking lot after his groom and his eye was just slightly red in the video. I have another video of him in the car on the way home and it was starting to get more red. I only have these videos because I was excited to show my children that he had finally gotten a groom! Upon giving the dog back to my ex wife she noticed his entire eye was completely dark red. She took him back to Valley Vet (only hours after the groom) only to be CHARGED for the medicine needed to help with it. The area above his eye had a razor mark that made it obvious as to what had happened. I have photos of this mark as well. His private area was butchered as well (also have photos). Nobody was willing to be honest about the situation or even cover the costs. I obviously tipped the groomer as I always do and paid for the groom (not knowing yet about the issue). I let the grooming incident slide but just today I came home to my dog (whom I bring to Valley Vet for all of his needs) limping, whimpering, and licking at his front paw. I called to see if they could take a look at him and the receptionist offered me to bring him in on Saturday (2 days later). There was absolutely no care from her in the world that the animal needed immediate attention. I get it .. it is the end of the day and you are busy.. but maybe show a little compassion and offer me other solutions or places to go. When she placed me on hold the voice recording mentioned Valley Vet's emergency services. I was not aware of these emergency services but wouldn't you think the receptionist would have mentioned this?? When the "manager" got onto the phone I was told that the emergency services are for walk ins. So let me get this straight... if your dog needs immediate attention I guess I made the mistake of calling first!? I should have just walked in. Makes sense! I did not even want to mention the boarding process but that was also not a great experience. They promise to walk your dog and send you a text of "one on one time" etc. etc. None of which ever happens (I believe they sent 1 text to me out of the probably 8 nights in total he has stayed there). I would always send enough food with him for a WEEK when he was only to be there for 2 nights just because I obviously care and do not want him to run out of food. The entire bag of food was gone every time I boarded him. They would return his belongings with the actual empty bag. This makes you wonder where all of the food went. I now feel bad that I subjected him to this place on a few occasions. He would not be excited to see me and be shaking upon pickup. To me that shows he was not in a great state of mind but what do I know!? Apparently I do not know much because if I call with what I feel is an emergency... this vet believes it can wait 2 days... even though they advertise emergency services ! You'd think a place that charges so much to CARE FOR your pets would actually CARE ABOUT your pet when it may be hurt. I have nothing negative to say about the vets there as I only met 1 or 2. Everything outside of that has not been a positive experience. This is probably the first and last time I will post a negative review for somebody (at least I hope). It will absolutely be the last time I step foot into this place. read more

I don't even know where to start. TL:DR - Dr. Shreiber led me to believe my cat would need put down when he was perfectly fine. DO NOT take your cats here. ... I brought my cat in with abdominal issues, to keep it mildly. After blood tests, Xrays, and ultrasounds over several days in a row, I was told my cat likely had a tumor which would need an invasive surgery that he might not survive, given his age. The other possible diagnosis was an ulcer. Despite all the testing Dr. Schreiber was not able to tell me which one it was and heavily pushed me to get a very expensive radiology appointment. I opted for medication for the ulcer, and took my cat home to prepare for what might be the end. The following day I did not receive any calls from Valley Vet. Upon calling to ask for a follow up, the response I received was "oh yeah we should probably do that" Feeling uncomfortable with the complete lack of concern, I opted to do my follow up with a different vet so I could get a second opinion. As my cat took his medication, he bounced back to nearly 100%. I figured.. Oh! He MUST have an ulcer! Maybe its not a tumor! Upon the follow up, Valley Vet had to be called THREE times for my cats records. New Vet asked if I was SURE he had bloodwork as he received no records of that or any of his other tests. There was also no record of the medication they had given him. Three calls to Valley Vet resulted in some incomplete, hand written notes that were scanned in. Nothing electronic. The ultrasound I had paid for? No idea where that went. New Vet concluded based on the meds/shots my cat was given (I no longer recall which one it was), it couldn't of been an ulcer, because that would of KILLED HIM, and he was clearly still here. New Vet also didn't believe it was a tumor based on the sudden onslaught of symptoms and how quickly he felt better with the ulcer meds and fluids. New Vet was also surprised by one of the tests Valley Vet had done, and told me that those tests were pretty ineffective and not used much these days in vet medicine. Great. Further blood testing by New Vet, which Valley Vet neglected to do, concluded my cat is not dying, but just has some abdominal sensitives akin to kitty IBS. Valley Vet has drained me mentally and financially. I was in tears ready to put my cat to sleep, when he was going to be just fine with some additional care. If you're going here, and something seems off, PLEASE seek a second opinion. read more

Fantastic veterinarian hospital. Dr. Lindsay Shreiber is fantastic. My cat recently suffered from about of cystitis (bladder inflammation) and an inability to pass urine. He was hospitalized immediately for emergency treatment. Happy to say he is now home resting and healthy. I will definitely go back, but hopefully my cat stays healthy enough that I don't have to! read more

Schreiber is horrendous. Did expensive tests, lectured me on possibilities, said she could stay in Hospital.but no one would be there. No clue she was dying. High turnover of vets there, cuz he's awful. Just abandoned us at my dogs worst moment. Pompous, indifferent, and cruel vet. read more

DO NOT COME HERE. Very dirty and unsanitary place. Schrieber is very VERY heartless and doesn't care about your pet. Plenty of other places to take your pet. Front desk is always short and long waiting times due to Schrieber bring hours late. Be prepared to wait for your apt. read more

I am basically new to Valley Vet and I am very impressed. The staff is very good with the care of my fur boys.

I would first like to say that I have NEVER had an experience like this before. My dog (Mason) was taken in at 7:30pm. I waited until 8:10 to receive a call from the vet. We used to go to this location all the time when we first moved here. The care was great and the prices were reasonable. This is the 3rd time we have taken our dog to this new location and every time the vet states that surgery is warranted. Getting second opinions for those visits lead us to total treatment for 2 out of 3 issues by another local vet. Dr. Shreiber stated that a small ulcer (which he couldn't even find when I told him the location) needed surgery and topicals would not fix the issue. The estimate was $800-1000. My dog is almost 15 years old. The smallest/least of all interventions should be considered first when dealing with an older animal, not putting them under anesthesia every time there is a visit. I was frustrated even when speaking with the doctor and expressed my concerns. I told him that I couldn't afford that, no payment plans are ever offered there, and that I guess I will try topical that I have at home and to just bring him out. When the secretary called for the bill, I vented to her that I was frustrated. She allowed me to finish my concerns and stated that she would pass it on, even though it was out of her control. The person who answered the phone was NOT rude. I was not disrespectful to her either, just stated that I'd like to mention an issue. My dog was then brought out by a young girl with brown hair (not wearing a mask). She said here is your receipt and I said thank you-to which she replied "mmhmm, yep!". About another 10 feet of her walking away she turned again and said in a very snarly tone "You have a great and wonderful night". I said "Excuse me". She turned around, looked at me and kept walking. I asked for her name and she turned around and laughed at me. I stated that she wasn't being professional and this was not the service I just paid for. I could see 2-3 people at the desk, 1 of them the young girl who was so unprofessional, condescending, and rude. I called into the office, she turned around and looked at my vehicle and smiled. I called 13 times after that with no answer. 3 people were at the desk, so there was no reason why 13 calls were ignored. A call from my husbands phone was answered right away. What a surprise. Overall, this was the most unprofessional visit I have ever had. I was treated so disrespectfully and my calls were PURPOSELY ignored as I watched. The care was subpar. I have never not paid a bill in my life. A 5 minute phone call about a skin spot that wasn't even found by the doctor at first and the treatment certainly do not warrant proper care being completed. I cannot believe that Dr. Shreiber (who is an owner) would condone this type of behavior nor would he want this type of experience at his location. read more

We've been bringing our dogs here for years. They were much better and caring when they were a smaller practice. We have called twice now when we had emergencies. They turned us away both times. With the smaller practice they would make sure we got in. With the bigger practice they have seemed to have lost their hearts. Bye Valley Vet. read more

Dr. Overhiser is phenomenal. This review does not reflect the care given to my pet by veterinary staff. The care my pet has received by Dr. Overhiser has been excellent. Sadly to say, after 2+ years into COVID, customers still CANNOT COME INSIDE! Pet parents are forced to stay in their cars, as if we are still in quarantine. Pet parents are forced to discuss care via telephone, and cannot be present during assessment/procedures. I understand it may be more convenient for the vet to not have to interact with pet parents in person, but it's unfair to the parents and the pets. Pets are more comfortable when their owner is nearby. And after all, a vet is supposed to be pet centered. Unfortunately, this has led to my consideration (and I'm sure others) of switching to a different vet office, which saddens me greatly. This is not a choice I would like to make. But it is very important for me to be able to be present again in my pet's care. After asking multiple staff members when we are allowed to come inside I receive an "I don't know" or "I'm not sure". Other local vet offices are allowing people inside with a mask. Please let pet parent's inside. This is going to lead to people taking their business and pets elsewhere. It is apparently an issue for others after reading reviews. To Dr. Lindsay Shreiber (owner) and management staff- PLEASE LET PET PARENTS INSIDE AGAIN so business is not lost. A few months ago, my senior dog was vomiting non stop. We had taken her to Valley Vet for several years, as well as our two other dogs. On this day, they had no appointments available, which is all the time. We ended up taking her to a different vet, which was a race against time because she gravely got worse. After my dog died on the table, Valley Vet finally called to let me know that we should monitor our dog and if she get worse, to call back. Today, my other dog looked like she had a seizure and no one was available to see her. We are done with this vet. They were far more open and caring when they had a smaller business in town. read more

I don't typically post reviews but I found this to be a reason since my dogs are my whole world. My one dog, Bella, had a vet appointment this morning with Dr. O. With the current changes made from the pandemic, the vet is currently doing doggy drop off for visits. The young girl that came out for Bella was very friendly and listened to my concerns about not being able to go in for the visit (my dog has extreme anxiety). She listened which is huge especially when dealing with an anxious dog. Our vet, Dr. O, stayed in constant communication with myself during the whole visit. She made recommendations as well as gave an update on how well Bella was behaving. This gave me a huge sigh of relief. The young girl brought Bella back out to me and said she was great the whole time. When raising a dog with anxiety, people caring and listening to your concerns and advice means the world. Bella has a long future with Dr. O and we look forward to dealing with them in the future. read more

I am not the type of person to write a bad review, and I have had really good experiences with Valley Vet Hospital in the past. However, for our particular pet, the vet who we had, Dr. Lindsay Shreiber was incredibly demeaning during the visit and completely unprofessional. In addition to his negative attitude, he pushed for extra tests including an ultrasound. It has been three weeks, and we haven't heard from him. I have called four times and the vet has explained that he left a voicemail. There seems to be a serious lack of communication skills or sympathy and in the future, we will either seek a different veterinarian or vet. At the very least, I would ask for a different veterinarian such as Dr. Goodell or Dr. Overhiser. Hope this was helpful! read more

I do not recommend coming here. My boyfriend and I were treated terribly. There was a new litter of kittens that we were super excited to get! Understanding that they never gone through an adoption process makes sense, but the way they treated us was very unprofessional. We were told that the kittens were ready to be chosen, so we called in and made an appointment and got one scheduled for a week and a half away. I took off of work to make this appointment, so when I arrived, we both were super excited. When we called about us arriving for our appointment, we were informed that we did not have an appointment and mentioned that they were not ready for the kittens to be adopted. We were upset to hear that this happened. There was not much sympathy given to us, and we did not do anything wrong! The response was, "there is no room to fit you in currnetly since we are booked, we will give you a call today, tomorrow or early next week when we have an answer". Although we were upset, we were ok with proceeding. The next day rolls around and we didn't hear anything, so we called for an update... that's all, a harmless update (on something that was not OUR fault, but THEIRS). After calling for an update, we were told that we were declined. They could not tell us why. Later I found out that we were declined since we called too many times and lied about information that was given. That is bullshit, we called a total of three times (to make the appointment, arriving at the appointment, and following up on THEIR mess up). I have worked in customer service my whole life and this is not how you treat clients. To sum it up, they declined us because they didn't have the answers, and didn't feel like dealing with us. Makes you feel real shitty as a person. There was no care, just got rid of us because we were a "problem" I guess. Also, we found the appointment that they sent to us the day we booked it, it was set up under NO NAME.... Very professional. read more

I appreciate this in the worst of the pandemic but now it's just absolutely ridiculous Require masks. Took puppy seamed good for first checkup. But then had an Emergency w puppy possibly near death. 3 weeks later. Then They had no time for a dying dog this morning Are you kidding? I would be embarrassed to call yourself vet... If I could not leave a star I would...we took our dog there for his yearly shots.no problem right? Well 2 days later my poor Georgie could walk on his hind legs..called and asked if maybe he's having a reaction to shots? No can't be that bring him in $$$ kept 2 nights to be told it could be a lot of things and for $10000-20000 surgery "we will figure it out" WHAT!!! Then after the surgery he may not be able to walk still though..WHAT!!! Another night stay with a phone call that there is now nothing we can do best bet is to just put him down...We mistakenly believed everything they told us and we couldn't let him suffer anymore ...I would never ever leave my worst enemy at this vet ! read more

My dog and I went in for a daycare evaluation, and the trainer was rude and judgmental about the training methods our trainer taught us to use. Our trainer got to know our dog very well when we first got her and I know her methods work very well because Athena is much LESS anxious and aggressive than she has ever been! To the point I felt confident she would do well in a daycare! Most daycares evaluations, I have learned since going to their's, are a half day bc MOST dogs don't warm up to other dogs in a 5 minute time span and they need time to let their true personalities shine. I do NOT recommend this daycare unless your dog is the easiest going dog on earth and doesn't get anxious over the smells of a vets office. I could use the money I paid for the evaluation towards another service, but I will never go back. read more

I had my Rhodesian Ridgeback Jema spayed here at Valley Vet and Dr. Shreiber did the procedure. The day before the procedure I had spoken to one of his associates that I did not want Jema to receive any vaccinations while under they're care. The other Vet agreed to not vaccinate Jema. She had marked it in her chart. The next day she was spayed and when one of the Vet Techs had called me to let me know that the surgery went well and we went ahead and gave her the Distemper Vaccine. My husband stopped in that evening to find out why Dr. Shreiber had administered the vaccine. All he was told was that the Vet would be in touch with him the following morning. When I went to pick Jema up from being spayed, they apologized and did not charge me for the vaccination. I would highly suggest to not take any of your animals to this Vet!!! Even if she was due for the Distemper Vaccine Dr. Schreiber or one of his staff should have notified me first regarding Jema receiving the Distemper Vaccine. They never did call my husband when they said they would either! read more

Our dog is 8 and we've taken him to a few Vets in the area, Dr. Katherine Grove and the staff love your fur baby as much as you do. Dr. Grove remembered our dog from a year ago as if she's seen him every day. She's the best!!! The prices are very reasonable and they don't run un-needed tests. Their new location on Valley forge Rd across from The strip mall where My Favorite Muffin is has grooming, boarding with no hidden fees. If I could I would give them 10 stars!!! read more

My former vet retired and I have been looking for a new vet to take her place. Not as easy as it sounds. I tried Valley Vet. I have to say they answered the phone promptly and I got an appointment within a reasonable amount of time BUT this is now mid-2022 and the "you have to wait in the car while we examine your cat" thing should be over. I would like to go into the office with my cat to see for myself what type of exam they are doing and to be able to ask questions of the vets or answer their questions if they have any. Instead you have to wait in your car until they call you and then give you a rushed explanation about what they did (but since I"m not seeing it for myself I hope they did do what they say. I'm not saying they don't but I would like to see it for myself). Then they send your cat with the bill. So I'm not really a fan of this place. They may actually be very good but until I can go in and see what's what when they look at my cat, I'll still be looking for a new vet. read more

Took my dog here from the time she was a puppy. Everything was fine as long as she was healthy but when she got Lyme disease when she was 10, they misdiagnosed her. Spent hundreds of dollars on tests and xrays. Didn't test for Lyme until a year and a half later. By that time she had permanent damage to her legs and couldn't walk well or go up and down steps. When I asked why they hadn't checked for Lyme before their response was "We only check every two years at the regular check up". Not an excuse. Needless to say I changed vets. read more

Wish you guys had a fan page on Facebook! Whenever Roxy is sick they always schedule her appointment for the same day I call. Dr. Schreiber is always offers a lot of information on ways to improve my cats "stress" level :) Prices are very affordable and there are never and hidden costs! Highly recommend a visit. read more

Took a cat to be shaved due to clumps and they did not shave it and instead charged us for blood work and exams worth 400 dollars. Absurd bc they refused to shave the cat until they do all these tests, however, just a year ago they shaved the same cat without any of these tests. The worst part is I payed 75 dollars for a comprehensive exam as part of that bill and they gave me my cat back with 3 ingrown nails!!!! If I did not inspect the cat, I would not even know. After that we called and requested they cancel all the blood work as my cat is going elsewhere for a true comprehensive exam where they at least will check the animal and do not release home with ingrown nails and pretend to do a comprehensive exam. The vet who examined by cat was Dr. Shreiber. I called the vet to complain and all I got it attitude instead of an apology. read more

This is an expensive boarding / day care facility that charges for a 15 minute behavior evaluation in a narrow hallway. Reputable day care facilities focused on social behaviors evaluate your pet over for 2-6 hour period allowing your pup to adjust to new smells, sounds, etc, observe other the dogs in day care and gradually introduce them. Very disappointing. read more

A few months ago my dog who is a Jack Russel got visiouly attacked my Granddaughter was crying so upset did not know what to do and rac ed her to the clinic - the Dr saw her she got stitches and medication and I was billed for the service - thankyou to all the dtaff live my Daisey !!! AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL. I took my dog there for a VERY small lump. Was told it was cancerous and to be taken care of immediately. He's four so of course I agreed. The lump was on his chest, in an awful spot to heal. He wasn't given ANY sort of pain medicine, even when I asked if he should have one. Wasn't given a bandage for the area, though he'd be laying on it constantly. I stayed home with him missing work to help him simply lay because he was so uncomfortable. The stitches were taken out in less than 2 minutes and in my opinion too early, I wasn't even consulted with a doctor during this. Just a day later it looked awful, so I called them up and was told to take a picture of it day to day and I'd see it truly was getting better- essentially that I was over reacting but if I felt it REALLY necessary I could bring him in on that Tuesday. Two days after that I had to take him to the emergency vet where they found not one but TWO bacteria in his wound. I received a call from Valley Vet that Tuesday "checking in" and was told the vet would still want to talk to me about the situation. I watched it ring twice and before I could pick it up, they hung up. No voicemail nothing. This vet is AWFUL. The emergency vet could not believe that my dog was given no pain medicine and no bandages to protect his wound in this vulnerable area. I will NEVER be returning to this vet and will be telling everyone of my awful experience and the pain/issues they put my baby through. Unbelievable. If you want your pet to suffer for WEEKS due to a minor tumor removal by all means- visit them. Its been about a month now and his wound is FINALLY healing after all the issues and my wallet will take even longer to heal from this ordeal. read more

Rescued our cat 5 years ago and decided to use Valley Veterinary based on reading excellent reviews. While the staff was always nice, I never understood why they received such glowing reviews. I always had to wait at least 30 minutes past my appt time and worse yet, they push unnecessary expensive tests and lab work (probably to pay for their new building). But I continued to bring him because they were nice until now. Our cat takes anti-anxiety meds and needs to have labwork to check his levels which I understand, but we did not bring him in for a year and a half due to the pandemic. When I called recently to make an appt because he needs a refill, they are booked out for more than 30 days. I made the appt and asked if they would please give us a 30 day refill to cover that time and was told by the receptionist it probably would be fine. But I got a call back later denying the refill because they had not seen him since December 2019. Despite explaining that we didn't bring him in 2020 due to the pandemic, he needs this med, we made an appt but the soonest available was more than 30 days out, they still refused. Now I know what this place is really about. They don't care about your family pet, just making as much money off of you as they can as I had suspected all along. I will now be driving 30 minutes back to my old veterinarian where we used to live because they were truly compassionate and didn't price gouge. Please do not waste your time or money bringing your beloved pet here. read more

Dr Overhiser is the most compassionate veterinarian I've ever known. I'd never been to Valley Veterinary Hospital, yet when I called to ask if they would see me because my little three-year-old cat, Tip, lost the use of his back legs, they told me to come right over. Tip suffered an embolism that cut off the circulation to his legs and the prognosis was horrible. We realized that euthanasia was the only option. Dr Overhiser, and the entire staff, demonstrated such concern and compassion for Tip--and for me, and I received a heartfelt note the nextfrom Dr Overhiser. I'll never forget her loving care. read more

I don't normally write these reviews, but was surprised to see the two negative reviews. Dr. Schreiber worked very hard with us when both our cats got quite sick. Valley provided an excellent level of care. He even did research on his own time to find causes of the illness and food recalls since it was such a rare occurrence. He was very compassionate, and even sent a tech in after hours to accommodate us. The wait can be frustrating; we now call to check if they are on time, but it usually because they had an emergency that threw their schedule off. We haven't had an issue since. It would be nice to receive a text if they were behind by more than 30 minutes. However, if my dogs or cats had an emergency, I know I can get to the front of the line here. read more

Valley Vet has been our vet for more than a decade since our first cat found us. We now have four rescue cats and our latest has a chronic nasal allergy. Drs. Shreiber and Seelaus are extremely experienced, knowledgeable, and compassionate. They usually recommend the least invasive course of action first to spare our cats the ordeal and us the expense. Their treatment fees are not inexpensive, but they are always available when you need them, with both Saturday and evening hours. Their first concern is for the welfare of the animal and appointments are never rushed. So, yes, you may have a bit of a wait, but you will not be hurried when it is your turn. They rescue both greyhounds and abandoned cats and keep them until homes are found, or in some cases, the office is their forever home. I have never seen them turn anyone away -- they are truly a wonderful veterinary hospital. read more
