MVA Emergency and Critical Care quick actions literally helped save Jalen's life! The doctors and staff were extremely caring, professional and transparent. I was never given false hope and the pros, cons, and odds of each decision or option they provided me with were very clearly explained. I was never pressured into making any decision and they were supportive of whatever I did decide. I truly believe had it not been for their quick recognition, action, and compassion, Jalen would not be here. I highly recommend MVA ER and Critical Care teams. Here is a bit of detail into how they helped save his life... I brought Jalen into the ER 2 times, for suspected pneumonia caused by Kennel Cough that he caught after being boarded. The first visit, the X-rays did not show pneumonia, but he was showing mild clinical signs. I was given the option to hospitalize him for a few days or treat him at home. I opted to treat him at home since his case was seemingly mild and thought he just needed antibiotics and some good rest. He was seemingly getting better but then took a bad turn 2 days later. I rushed him back to the ER and he was admitted. X-rays now showed full blown pneumonia that had not responded to the antibiotics he was given. He was admitted to the Critical Care Unit where a specialized procedure was performed that would help identify the causative agent and get him started on the correct medication. He was in the hospital 3 days. I was not able to visit him since he was infectious, however I received phone calls 2x per day as well as photos of him texted to me. He was looking good, and we had a plan for him to come home. The morning he was supposed to come home, I got an early phone call telling me something had happened. Long story short, the pneumonia worsened overnight, and he had coughed so hard that he developed a pneumomediastinum which was causing his heart rate to drop dangerously low. I became hysterical on the phone, but the CC doctor was able to calm me down enough to snap me out of it and get to MVA ASAP. When I got there, I was immediately taken into an exam room and met by the CC doctor. She explained the situation and that his best chance of survival was to transfer him to Penn Vet where he can get the specialized emergency surgery and possible ventilator care he needed, but it needed to be done now. She also explained the odds of him surviving any of this (they were not good 50/50 at best, and those odds dropped to 30% if he had to be put on a vent). I okayed the transfer, and after I did (as to not influence me one way or another), she told me that after talking to me the past few days, she knew I would say yes and she already had a team prepping to transport him. A doctor and their best ICU nurse traveled with him. He was kept on oxygen the entire time, the scene was something out of a movie. I was able to visit with him for few minutes while they finished setting up the transport vehicle. The pneumomediastinum caused air to also build up subcutaneously, so when I pet him, I could literally feel air bubbles under his skin. It was horrifying but clung to hope. Then it was time to go, they wheeled him out and loaded him in the transport vehicle. It was a 45-minute drive to Penn Vet. I followed the transport vehicle and met them there. They unloaded Jalen and immediately wheeled him back into a room at Penn. The MVA staff looked back at me with such compassion and concern. I appreciated these glimmers of hope and compassion; they were much needed during such a traumatic experience. I truly believe it was the quick actions of the MVA staff that attributed to saving Jalen's life. I arrived at MVA at 9:10AM. He was in emergency surgery in Penn by 11AM. It was the fastest, longest morning of my life and I will never forget any of it. Thank you so much to Dr. Fischer and the staff at MVA. I hope you know you were an essential part of literally saving Jalen's life and I am forever grateful.

I can't say enough wonderful things about Dr. Suzanne Rau and the entire team at Metropolitan Veterinary Associates. My beloved cat Mabel was diagnosed with mammary carcinoma, and from the very first appointment, Dr. Rau has provided us with a level of care, expertise, and compassion that is truly extraordinary. Dr. Rau is the perfect combination of calm, confident, empathetic, and incredibly knowledgeable. She took the time to answer all of my (many) questions with patience and clarity, always making sure I felt informed and supported in the decisions we were facing. Her ability to explain each step of Mabel's treatment with both clinical insight and genuine care brought me so much peace during a very difficult time. The front desk staff and clerks are also fantastic--always friendly, professional, and organized. Every interaction with the team has been smooth, respectful, and reassuring. I never once felt like "just another client"--they truly care. Thanks to Dr. Rau and the entire MVA team, Mabel has been able to receive the best possible care with grace and comfort. I am endlessly grateful for their expertise and heart, and I trust them completely with my baby's journey.

I wish I could use this office as my new general veterinary office. We had an emergency with my German Shepherd, Bay's, labor. After two separate visits and a lot of decisions, Bay needed an emergency cesarean surgery. The treatment we received at this office was incredible. Dr. Slough, Dr. O'Neill, and the surgeon Dr. Kauffman are stellar and examples of quick thinking professionals. The nursing staff and desk staff were equally amazing. Dealing with clients who are high anxiety and dealing with their sick animals is difficult, and I hope this review serves as a testament to their expertise.

Albert was well taken care of at Metro Vet.

He got me through some REALLY tough times over the past ten years, and honestly I'm not sure how I would have gotten through the pandemic without him. So knowing his time with me was coming to a close, I left it in his hands to tell me when it was time to go. And, unfortunately, that was the day he woke up and his eyes said simply, "Enough." The staff was attentive and kind from the jump. An examination revealed the options, but it was obvious that whatever was happening was quite serious - and I was given a breakdown of potential next steps. Of course with Sid's age, putting him down was also an option, and I already knew this is what we were going with. I did not receive any pressure to run any preliminary tests, procedures, or additional costs. I was simply told what the options were, and provided with an honest opinion of what the outcomes could be. And all options sucked. BUT it was obvious that the people helping me genuinely cared, and it made the heartbreak just a tiny bit easier. I had never had to do this before and I came in with Sid alone, so the vet guided me through what we were doing, what was next, and gave me ample time in between to say goodbye. Again, no real way to make these things less painful, but there was something in the attention and care I was receiving that made me feel like I wasn't going through it alone. The staff was going through it with me. I also received a beautiful card in the mail from them afterwards, hand-signed with a personal message from each - and this small gesture brought such warmth to my heart that I felt I had to share it. Highly recommend this place.

I spent 3+ hours there but it didn't feel like it. I was able to be by his side the entire time, there was hydration and snacks, and I was comfortable. I feel like every nurse checked in with us at least once. Even my cat felt chill enough after a while to curl up and nap in his large cage (they were quite busy and all rooms were taken). As off Feb '25 it was $200 for just the most basic care, for what it's worth, and in our situation it was very much worth it. They sent everything to my usual vet, including recommended follow up testing. Flippin' awesome and so helpful for moving forward after a terrible Sunday!

Prior to surgery, the doctors at VRC indicated that successful surgery would get us 1-3 more years with our pet. During surgery, they were able to remove most but not all of the metastatic growth so it was recommended that we move forward with chemo and radiation which would extend his life by 3-6 months instead of the 1-3 years initially stated. Well, our dog died exactly a week after surgery, 1.5 hours after my mother passed. The exact situation that we were trying to avoid unfolded as our worst nightmare. Unbeknownst to us, VRC operated even though our dog was anemic, and as a result, he spent the last week of his life in pain and internally bleeding. The morning of his passing, he was vomiting up blood clots and there were clots coming out of his nose. He was in shock and urinated all over my husband as he carried him to the car to rush him to our closest Vet ER (not VRC). At the ER, we were told it was too late so we made the impossible but humane decision to hold our dog until his last breath. After arriving home, we couldn't even mourn the two deaths we just experienced because we had to clean up the blood from our carpets, curtains, floors, walls, etc. before our young children got home from school so we didn't traumatize them. We paid VRC over $10k and all they did was kill our pet in the most traumatic way. On top of that, they haven't once reached out to check on our pet (he was supposed to have his sutures removed two weeks after surgery but obviously we didn't get to do that, but no one called to find out why) or express their condolences for our loss. I would and could not ever recommend this vet practice to anyone. So disappointing and heartbreaking.

After searching Yelp for an open Veterinary Hospital on a Friday night; found Eclipse open 24 hours. So, I made the call and spoke with them to confirm they were open and they have the ability to address her situation. Arriving after a 20 minute ride, there was no waiting time, they took her immediately to the treatment area for a prompt examination of her situation. After completing the initial intake documentation we spoke with a technician to explain the situation that led us there. After a period of time, the ER Vet - Dr. Charlotte Van Horne spoke with us regarding the different pathways of a diagnosis for the treatment of vertigo, along with of her progression . The Doc gave a thorough explanation and was showed patience in answering all our questions. She didn't rush or push her treatment, and I appreciated the clear explanations provided and treatment plan. After a day at home, we decided to bring her back Saturday since my dog refused to eat or drink water for approximately 24 hours, hence she was unable to take her meds. The waiting room was busy with other dogs and cats. We spoke with the staff and then consulted with Dr. Katie Bazewicz on her diagnosis and our options. We chose to admit her for the next 24 hours so my dog can get the proper amount of fluids via an I.V.; actually kept her admitted until Monday morning when our dog would be examined by the Vet Neurologist - Dr. Boaz Levitin. He provided a thorough exam and gave his diagnosis which gave us comfort with the current treatment plan and didn't just push us for an MRI, which isn't the best option due to my dog's age. We were extremely impressed with the level of care and attention we received. The entire medical team was professional, knowledgeable, and communicative; from the receptionist, med techs, nurses, doctors, and specialist. The staff were friendly and empathetic throughout our several visits. The facilities were clean and well-maintained. The waiting room is large and nicely decorated for the holidays. They have a complimentary water, along with a coffee/tea/hot chocolate machine to include a soda/snack vending machine. The price points for the services may be higher than your usual Vet bill, however you need to understand that this is a 24 hour ER service. It could be a little pricey, but my question is how important is your furry family member valued by you and your family in your home. Overall, I was very satisfied with the care provided and would highly recommend Eclipse ER Vet Hospital to others. The compassionate and professional service I experienced is a credit to the hospital and its entire staff.

Despite being in the medical field myself, I felt in over my head with a feline emergency. Thankfully, I was met with care and compassion every step of the way starting with the initial triage, and Pouncey was rushed back for immediate evaluation after I described his symptoms. Special thanks to Dr. Kuck, who was extremely thorough and despite already making the initial diagnosis of FLUTD, performed additional workup as Pouncey's bloodwork looked suspicious. She ultimately also diagnosed him with a left kidney mass. Although this was devastating news, she performed the necessary workup and helped me transition seamlessly to his local vet back in California, even calling several days later to follow up and make sure his records got sent over. Pouncey is thankfully on the mend, and is scheduled to see a local surgeon for his tumor - all of this would have been impossible without the expert and timely care from Eclipse!

Our kitten was almost 5 months old when he became lethargic and I took him in as an emergency. I brought him in, in his carrier wrapped snuggly in a t-shirt that smelled like his favorite human, my then 7 year old. Before we arrived I had hand-fed him, helped him drink water, kept him warm but realized I needed help. So I viewed our pet insurance website and searched for an emergency vet close by. He had insurance. When we arrived, we were called back rather quickly. We only sat in the examine room for maybe 5-10 minutes before he was taken further back without me. 5-10 minutes more and a staff member returned to tell me without extensive treatment he wouldn't make it. They didn't give a reason he had become unwell. No tests were ran. He just didn't respond to something they had given him, so that was their conclusion. I was escorted back to see him, where he lay breathing shallow, eyes open, and needle connected but no fluid attached. I asked questions. Requested more information. I was informed again they didn't believe the chances of him making it were likely. I NEVER gave the permission to euthanize him. I cried and asked for more information. A young lady came over, placed her hand on him and said he had passed. At the time I was a few months postpartum and it took me a while to process that the decision had been made for me. I read his paperwork sometime later and saw that I was charged for euthanizing him. I NEVER requested that. I was informed he was "gone" while I was standing in front of him. No additional fluids were given to him. He had insurance. I reported this establishment to the insurance company when I reviewed the paperwork. I think of that day at random, like today.
