We have been coming here for YEARS! For our plant starters and for shrubs and trees etc-and of course to check out the Christmas display! More recently we have been coming because they have a nice selection of homegrow supplies! From fox farm, coast of Maine, down to earth and others- they have a lot of organic amendments- They have root gel and lights as well as many other things you would need to clone and grow your own plants at home! Everyone is so kind there and helpful and we've always been able to find what we are looking for! The prices are comparable to other places I've been to and it's way more convenient to be able to stop in and see what they have rather than just buying online.

This is an indoor and outdoor market that sells a plants, planting supplies, and in the Christmas a ton of Christmas stuff. There are items ranging from a few dollars to a few hundred dollars but everything has prices listed. Service is good, sometimes there are long lines at check out. The store is definitely one you should go to around Christmas time at least once if you live locally or are visiting the area. The only downside is the amount of people that are consistently in the store!! You are constantly bumping into people and personally I always feel rushed when trying to look at things. Each tree in the store has its own theme and the ornaments being sold are underneath. Coming here was a tradition when I was a child!

I have been going to VVF for about 3 years now and I truly love this place! They have such a great selection of plants, outdoor materials, planters, soil.. literally whatever gardening items you need. The prices here are also pretty reasonable until you get to the more mature plants, they can get pricey! With that, the quality overall of all of their plants are great so that is a huge plus!! I also love that they offer a selection of smaller plants. Sometimes I like to get those to make sure I am able to provide the right type of care before splurging on a more expensive size. Of all of the plants that I have ever bought from here, none of them have had pest issues but you as the consumer do need to be selective when purchasing. I still inspect all of them! The overall staff is friendly with the exception of a few times I have approached an older lady, she was very short borderline rude IMO. Either way, I am there for the plants, so I was am not overly concerned about that. The cashiers however, are the friendliest and will chat with you when you get up to pay.

I purchased a shrub here because it was labeled deer resistant with valley view's own signage and it was eaten down to the ground on first night. When informed of this, valley view refused a refund despite the tree and shrub guarantee listed on their receipt (pictured below). This is not acceptable, and while valley view is correct that they cannot control the deer, they absolutely can control the content of the signage on which they induce customers to buy products based on "deer resistance."

What's the plural of coleus?  Coleuses?Colei? Anyway, so beautiful!

Bottom Line: Huge garden center with a great selection and reasonable prices. As a gardener I had been wanting to go to Valley View Farms for a long time and I finally made it! I was so excited I nearly wet my plants! I visited during the very busy spring planting season so of course the garden center was bustling. But even with it being peak season the parking lot wasn't too crazy and the checkout line moved quickly. The selection at Valley View Farms is huge! I couldn't get over all the varieties of annuals, perennials, shrubs and trees they had. I spent most of my time looking at annuals and perennials. The huge selection of coleus and heucheras were among my favorites. I loved seeing the pretty foliage on both varieties. I was also blown away by the massive collection of petunias they had. Beyond plants I enjoyed looking at their large selection of pottery and various other goodies inside like doormats, wind chimes, patio furniture and such. I departed with an awesome blue crab doormat and various plants. As far as prices go, I find them to be reasonable. They are more than my favorite low-overhead roadside stand and roadside stand-like places but definitely less expensive than Homestead Gardens in Severna Park and Davidsonville. If I lived closer I am sure I would visit more often. I hope to make it back to Valley View Farms this fall or Christmas to indulge in their seasonal goodies.

Random gift ideas galore! This one made me laugh

I've been going to Valley View my entire life. This is not a joke. I remember the pickle barrel and the little deli counter. I remember the barley lollipops and the shoestring licorice. We made our yearly pilgrimage last week. I would HIGHLY recommend going during the week, instead of during the weekend, and a bit before dark, and before Thanksgiving - if you can. This place becomes a madhouse during the Christmas season, especially on the weekends. If crowds don't bother you, by all means do you, but I find it easier and much more relaxing when I can take my time and admire each tree, and look at all the decorations without fearing I'm going to run someone over in my wheelchair. Also, I tend to buy more when I get the chance to see more. This year I left with at least 6 new ornaments, and some replacement lights for my bubble lights. Yes, I am a child of the 70s. Bubble lights are a MUST. The International room is slowly shrinking. They have removed the counters and there's a much smaller selection of cuckoo clocks and nutcrackers. Still managed to find what seemed to be a vulture ornament. I think that was the winner for Most Unusual ornament. The train garden village section seems to be expanding, though. I can't see much of it, since I can't stand, but I can understand that maybe it wouldn't be the best idea to have something with so many moving parts within the reach of children. The squeaking sound of the rotating trees always makes me smile. Those trees have been making that same noise for decades. I want a spinning tree! Unfortunately I live in a studio apartment and can't afford such a thing. A girl can dream, though. I never buy anything in the greenhouse, but no trip to VV is complete without going to see the plants and flowers. I think it might be an homage to the Christmas classic "Frosty, the Snowman." You know, when Professor Hinkle shuts Frosty into the greenhouse? And the Santa chastises the magician, and he gets so forlorn that an old can appears out of nowhere, just so he can kick it? Yes, I might be a bit Frosty obsessed... I love Valley View. You should go and experience the wonderful tackiness of Christmas!

The selections will have you're head spinning (in a good way). There are enough options to redo the in and exterior of your home or office, regardless of your skill level. We came a little too early and there weren't many shrubs to pick from. But beware, mostly everything is OVER PRICED!! The staff are friendly, they speak to you. But they didn't offer or ask if we needed any help?!?! But, I could ask for help if I needed it. There is a large parking lot with plenty of space. The entrance and exit area gets super congested super quick. There is another shopping area (small strip mall) adjacent to the nursery that causes some of the congestion. They also sell fish and pond supplies as well as just about anything you could think of for outdoor beautification.

I was eager to peruse to see what tasty treat I could grab. Parking was plentiful, but busy. I suggest you go as early as possible to secure a hassle free experience parking and market wise. Upon entering, the convergence of scents hit at once: desserts, bbq, popcorn. I wasn't mad at all. Our first stop was the bbq kiosk where we purchased a rack of ribs and wings. They have a variety of mini markets and food vendors in the building: bbq, seafood, spices, bakery, pickles items, clothing, furniture, butcher, handmade crafts, fresh made pretzels, etc. They also had an area to sit and enjoy your food purchases. We also picked up a half of a coconut cake, a slice of strawberry cheesecake, some apple butter and blackberry jam, and as we exited we got the glazed almonds and cashews. This place seems big, but it is manageable to walk around and check out all of the vendors. Upon tasting, our ribs were good: perfectly seasoned and fresh; the wings were rotisserie roasted and were good as well; the cake was just ok for us fresh with coconut flakes held on by white buttercream; the strawberry cheesecake was just ok; the glazed nuts were good as well. All in all, a nice market to visit for fresh, homemade food and unique crafts/gifts.

One guy today couldn't bother to say "excuse me" while I was looking over some items and he just had to get to one of the items in front of me. Manners is seriously lacking with some of their staff. There's no clear leadership in the store - other than corporate from New York state dictating sales. Whomever is running the place needs to hire better people - more training so their more knowledgable about their products, and maybe people that are a bit more people oriented. One cashier lady is so morose I've come to hate going to her. A couple of the old crew is still around but with the turnover rate, and the lack of corporate care for service, I don't think they'll be around much longer. I've always placed Suburban Ace (now Costello Ace) as my First Choice for hardware needs, but with lackluster staff, poor product knowledge and a lack of customer service, that preference is fading fast. Let me start by saying I am a woodworker, I have a small shop in…read moremy basement, so I appreciate craftsmanship and we currently have other amish furniture pieces in our house - its becoming harder and harder to find quality solid wood furniture these days. I have no problem spending the premium that solid wood furniture warrants. Myself being a woodworker, I probably pick up on things that the average person would not (or may not even care about). We paid, what I would consider, to be a high end price for a living room set - 1 coffee table, 3 end tables, and a 72" TV stand. When we got the pieces, I noticed there were pocket holes all over the place, with some screws exposed and a lot of chipout. I was extremely disappointed, I use pocket screws in some of my very low end projects, such as shop furniture or plywood cabinets. I have made some smaller nice pieces around the house and I would never consider using such low end joinery in nicer wood projects, let alone a $6k living room set (price before shipping, taxes, and guardsman protection)! In my opinion, a "craftsman" making very expensive living room furniture should be using higher quality joinery that is both stronger, and more professional. If you dont know what pocket screws are, google them and watch all the "amateur youtube woodworkers" who use them for lower level projects. This shouldnt be the joinery used on a $6k set (price not including tax and shipping or guardsman protection). Pocket holes have their place and are a much faster form of joinery, but are usually reserved for cabinets or other interior areas or can be filled/covered. I immediately sent a polite email to the store manager after receiving the set with photos. She never responded. A few weeks after the email I did receive a call from someone who left a message and was in operations but I was on vacation. I called that person back and left a message and have not received a return call. I emailed the store manager again, and still no response. As of the date of this review, it has been 7 weeks with no reply. So I feel I have been more than patient and have given them ample time to contact me back or reply to my emails. I started to google the set that I bought to see if others complained about the same thing. Thats when I started to notice other online amish furniture places selling the same set, at significantly lower cost than I paid. I finally found the original maker of my set, but it seems that there are a few amish "craftsman" shops which have a line of furniture they build, and then retail fronts and online stores sell their furniture. I was told by the salesperson that I was buying at the biggest discount the craftsman offered all throughout the year, which I believed at the time, but considering I found other online places and stores selling the same custom ordered pieces for significantly lower, I think I got sold a fib by a good salesperson. Overall, I paid mercedes benz pricing for a toyota corolla. I will likely continue to buy amish or solid wood furniture, but I now know that not all amish "craftsman" are equal and use lower end woodworker joinery in areas where my past amish furniture did not, so I will be sure to look for pocket screws and get clarification on the expectations for my pieces before placing any future orders. The photos attached show the exposed screws and wood tearout all my pieces suffered from. This is what I would expect from Wayfair/IKEA at 25% the price I paid. Before you buy anything from Gish's, google the set and compare pricing with the other dozen sellers who seem to sell the same exact set, with the same exact stain options, with the same exact wood options from the same exact "craftsmen". Some buyers may be perfectly fine with pocket screw construction, exposed screws, and wood tearout - I was not.
