Excellent layout that is maintained very well. This is one of the best golf courses in Utah. It will not disappoint seasoned golfers.

My husband and his parents golf here all the time (with me driving the cart for my husband). I've noticed that over the past few years that they went from loving the course to becoming extremely stressed the last year or two when playing there. The course is always backed up with the Marshall checking in even though there's a group of four walkers in front of us. This last time, today, was especially bad. We played 18 holes; the first nine holes were understandably (seeing it's Memorial Day) completely backed up. We had a group of four women, playing from the yellow tees, right behind us. We expected the course to play pretty slow, but it ended up being slower than expected. All the while, this group was very close behind us. My husband and his father had both been doing really well from the blues, so they wanted to try the blacks. And my mother in law has always gone from the greys. However, the women behind us (going from yellow) were right behind my mother in law's drive from the grey, almost hitting us every hole. We played 18 holes and on the 15th, an older woman who claimed that she worked at Valley View, came up to us on her cart. She said she worked there and that "they've been behind us the whole time since hole one". When we explained that we were behind a group on the first nine and had no choice, plus we stopped at the grill on hole ten (which they did too) she urged us to move along, making it so all of us were stressed and distracted so much so that some of us didn't even finish the game. The last few times at this course have been unpleasant, and if a person who works there treats us like how she did this last instance, it's not worth going to again. read more

This course has great views of the Wasatch mountains. The greens are firm and fast with good movement. Great food and drink choices in the clubhouse. The price is fantastic for this caliber of course. Many areas of the country, this would be at least double the price. The course set up is a little different and challenging. There are opportunities for big hitters. Keep the ball on the high side of the mountain side fairways. Lots of fun. Play here weekly. read more

Valley View has been my favorite course north of Salt Lake for 30 years. That said, their customer service has deteriorated and my loyalty has shifted to Bountiful Ridge (people are much nicer and the course is in better condition). Their pro shop couldn't care less about the experience you have. I have never been one that expects to be doted on, but their level of customer service is below par (pun intended). read more

Terrible customer service! They sent a foursome out in between a reround! No help in the club house when issue was brought up. I'm sick for spending this much money to golf and being treated like this! Golfers can spend their money anywhere and they need to realize this! Visiting all the way from joe Bidens hometown and idk why the thing was mad could've been the sunshine could've been the haircut but said I had to be an elite to play on this course. The layout was terrible but I guess if you like to sit in the corner while that thing is getting dirty dan than you would love this you top 1% read more

It doesn't get better than this (at least not for the price and location). This is a very well kept course with lots of hills and very challenging greens. The greens weren't really that fast, but the breaks on them were pretty tricky. They have a great driving range and practice area as well. This place can get pretty crowded though because it's definitely a local favorite. We had a tee time in the middle of the day on a weekend and it took us 5 hours to complete 18 holes with a cart. That meant a lot of sitting around for us. Also, if you don't have a full foursome, you are very unlikely to play just with your own group - they will pair you up. That's standard for any place that gets busy though. This is definitely a gem of a course though and worth checking out! read more

This is a great course with great views. I've spent most of my time on courses in Colorado, Idaho and Utah. This course is definitely in the top 3 public courses that I've played. If you've played Bountiful Ridge (which I like), you'd really like Valley View. read more

This golf course is deceivingly difficult. There are very few level fairways...even your best drives will give you less than a perfect stance for your second shot. Nestled in the hills of Layton, there are plenty of ups and downs, and it plays LONG. The downside is the lack of professionalism in the Pro Shop. More gregarious folk can be found in holding cells of the local jails. read more

I had the opportunity to play this course today and I absolutely loved it. This is now one of my favorite public courses to play in northern Utah. The greens were well kept, fees were very reasonable (although I did pay a special winter rate), staff was friendly and courteous, and the course itself offered a fun experience along with a perfect blend of difficulty. There is plenty of elevation changes which offer a unique experience of the beautiful mountains and enough variety to keep it interesting. Although some have said this course plays long I didn't notice a difference between other public courses in Salt Lake City. I play from the men's tees (blue) and most par 4's were driver and anywhere from 100-175 yards in. The shortest par 3 was 160 and the longest being 195. Overall I enjoyed my round here and even spotted several deer on the par 5 17th. I would definitely recommend this course to anyone who is looking for a scenic, fun, and unique course. read more

On vacation, stopped and played 18 here,somewhat challenging and in very good shape,shot a decent 83 from the red tees,lol...Funny I shot under my handicap,but putted slight badly,as the green were fast and did break funny,unless you play often , you knew which way they broke. Only disappointment was I had to teed off on hole number 10,and the 2 =some that I was suppose to play with was not there,so I just hit down the fairway and caught up with the 3-some that was 2 holes in front of me and joined them.. Somehow there was some confusion in the pro shop??? Because when we finally finish the back 9,and came back to start the front nine(hole 1), somebody else's foursome was in front of us??? Not the group we were following? One of the guys complain to pro shop, they when down to speak to foursome,as there became a backlog on number one???? I think they were suppose to start on hole 10,but got confused??? Anyway they held us up a little bit and finally they let us go thru after pushing them on 4 holes,lol...The price was decent $37 inc cart,, Stay in the fairway shoot a good round,of course the correct side of the fairways,and most holes need to hit the green below the holes,remember slightly fast greens,some with weird breaks... read more

This course could easily be one of the top municipal courses, for the money, in all of America! Great challenges on each hole, not too punishing. Greens are very deceiving, remember they always break to the lake! Played with lots of people from different areas who say it's nicer than most country clubs where they're from. You get a little bit of everything here, elevated tees, quick greens, longer 5's and short 4's. Played alot of courses in Utah, and this probably is one of the best. They do have a tendency to push people out when it's logjammed. read more
