The park itself has become one of the gems of the Salt Lake City disc golf community, featuring an…read more18 hole course. The park has some beautiful big trees and is relatively flat aside from the hill on the west side, and there is the namesake creek that runs along the south edge of the park. It is one of the best disc golf courses around, and plays hosts to leagues and tournaments. The major problem here is that it is directly next to the Wasatch Charter School. When school is in session, parents have decided that the parking lot for Creekside Park is where they will pick up and drop off their kids. So for hours each day in the morning and afternoon, the parking lot is next to impossible to access being clogged by those cars. The other problem with the location next to the school, is that the school has decided that the whole park is a convenient recess location. Without notice, hundreds of children will come running over the hill and flood into all areas of the park, disrupting your quiet picnics or peaceful rounds of disc golf. Now if you're a disc golfer, you probably don't want to hit a little kid in the head (I swear all the "ten bonus point" jokes are only jokes). And if you're a little kid, you probably don't want to get walloped in the head by a hurdling disc of hard plastic. I'm not sure why the school just sends out all the kids unsupervised into the woods to run wild and pay absolutely zero attention to the disc golfers who are in the middle of a round, but at some point there are bound to be injuries. The park also has one large pavilion that can seat about 100 people, a small playground for the kids, and a sand volleyball area, so it is a good option for bbq's and gatherings. My advice is that it is a beautiful park, but if you're going to try to enjoy the park during the school year, to do so on the weekends.

The park is looking nice these days. New signs with bag holders (that also double as a dog leash…read moreholder) are a nice touch. This is a great course to learn how to play disc golf. The holes are not that long and the terrain is pretty mellow. Just watch out you don't go in the river! You may want to avoid peak times, especially in the summer, if you don't feel like waiting around forever.

But when I stopped by, I enjoyed a serene lake and a pretty quiet walking path without much going on. It's a beautiful area with camping spots and a disc golf course surrounding the park. There was a good amount of parking available, although I'd imagine it might fill up when they have some of their larger events. I saw a pelican in the lake with fishing line around its neck, so I tracked down the camp host, who said they'd take care of it. I sure hope that pelican is ok. Aside from that, I didn't see a whole lot of wildlife with the exception of birds-lots of birds. If I was a bird, I'd stay here too, those trees are great! I look forward to coming back to Fort Buenaventura when they hold a community event, or maybe even during the summer to camp for a night or two. It's a beautiful place!

Upon arrival we were told to "get the f**k out" if we weren't paying customers! After trying to ask for info, and perhaps a location of a restroom (since there aren't any others near there) we were crudely brushed off yet again. Frustrated, I found and quickly used a restroom near the playground area. As we were leaving, the same toothless fella who had so profanely asked us to leave came speeding up in a golf cart blocking us into the park. He yelled and demanded that we pay him a $100 fine right then and there! For using the bathroom at a PUBLIC PARK. There was no arguing with him. I gave him the only cash I had, which was $20, just so we could get the heck out of there! HE MADE ME BRIBE HIM TO LEAVE. I'm absolutely disgusted by my encounter at this park. I will never EVER return or recommend to anyone.

The disc golf course isn't anything super special, but it's a good course to get some throws in. There is a walking path throughout the disc golf course, and the park was busy the night we were there. Be prepared to wait a little bit. We didn't mind cause we were catching up with a friend anyway. This park is also directly under the flight path, so you get to see a bunch of airplanes flying overhead which I loved! The trees also smelled amazing. There were a few big softball fields that looked awesome and also the rec center is in the same space. I would highly recommend checking out this park and playing the disc golf course.

The softball complex has great seating, large bathrooms and is well maintained. There's good lighting for night games and good visibility from any seat in the bleachers (I know, I moved around a lot-I get restless.) There's also ample parking nearby. I did opt to park a little further away from the field, knowing that some of the folks on the team I was watching can hit a ball pretty far and I didn't want to fix a broken windshield.

Large, shady trees, ample space for the kids or pups to run and play and varied areas for groups to congregate. This one has it all! I attended a gathering here and had a delightful time. There's a spacious parking lot, so if you're coming in via car, you can park and walk in. You'll cross a darling little stream over a tiny bridge and come up on a large pavilion. In fact, there are several pavilions scattered throughout that you can reserve for your group event. There are a few different playgrounds, a skate park, bathrooms and an impressive off-leash dog park on the south end. We spent most of our time at the dog park letting the pups run and play. It's a remarkable use of space-right up against an area that would likely not be very usable otherwise, but it's been turned into the perfect area to throw a ball for your four legged kiddos. It's got shade, seating, water fountains and a few climbing features to keep the pups engaged. This is definitely a park that I look forward to returning to.

Unlike many other courts, each court here is actually separate from each other and there is plenty of space in between each one. There is also a really cool system to determine who is up next when you out your rackets up. Which is just a simple wheel/arrow that can be turned to identify the group that is up next. I'm back to the annual update tradition that started nearly a decade ago, and the reason is that…read moreafter a year hiatus (thanks, COVID), Midvale's Harvest Days is back. So I spent some time here last weekend. But even moreso, I have spent far far far more time in the park over the last 4 months than I ever did before, due to the addition of a disc golf course. Now, back in the day (waaaaay back) I was pretty into the sport and have played on about 100 courses all over this fine country. But the sport blew up and is having a moment right now, so much so that courses are popping up all over the place and this fun little pitch-n-putt par 3 seemed to show up out of nowhere. It's great--everything is under 400 feet, and it's brought a lot of people out to the park that might not ever have made it over--truly making this a park for the people. Besides that, they've made some big improvements. There's now a massive pavilion over by the senior center, which is no longer the senior center, but rather a lovely little museum. It's a drought year so I take it easy on them for the condition of the grass which is, you know, not precisely lush right now. But it's beautiful to see them taking water conservation seriously. I'll be over there plenty often now, getting in a quick 9 holes in under an hour, but I'll also be back for Harvest Days next year. Until then!

The newest part of this park sits on top of the old Midvale Elementary School with small rolling…read morehills, and a small slide/swing/tricky bar area for the younger kids. There is a large area of grass that you could play soccer, flag football or even fly kites. I've seen people flying their drones, and racing their battery operated remote control cars here. The older section has a pavilion, bathrooms, and a small slash pad for the kids with another swing set close by. On Friday nights during the summer they have free concerts. Something for the whole family. Parking lot is on the small size for a park, and the Boys and Girls Club is near by, I believe they share the parking space. The course is great for new players, but still fun for experienced players that can go for birdies on most holes. Be careful with the pines or you will risk losing a disc. Hmmm, I have no idea why they call it Dry Creek Update: 12 rounds of disc golf. Repeat the front 6 or the back six for 18 rounds. My wife and I just got back from the park. Practically had it all to ourselves. What a nice stroll. Sidewalk is clear of snow, except for the bridges. This truly is one of American Fork's best parks. Oh yes, I almost forgot. Yes there was flowing water in the creek. You know, the Dry Creek! And I have no idea why it says "Closed Now" online. Parking lot is open.
